6:40 Alright here me out, I don’t think Betty taking GOLB away to the void is actually delaying him, and here’s why: In every appearance GOLB is always sitting in the Void outside all existence and just meditating there. We don’t know why he continues to sit there, but we do know that he is capable of still performing his multiversal responsibilities of bringing chaos and entropy as seen in the episode “Puhoy” In that episode GOLB effortlessly ERADICATES the pillow world and wipes all memories associated with it, as seen when Finn goes back to normal reality and he doesn’t remember anything that happened there. The Main Factor to notice however is that we never once see GOLB descend into Pillow World to wreak havoc like he does in our Dimension. We just see Finn pass by him on his way back to the regular dimension through the Void. This Implies that GOLB doesn’t even NEED to move from his spot in the void in order to consume worlds, in fact it even makes much more sense why he doesn’t need to leave since we have never seen GOLB leave his void ONCE by himself, he’s always summoned. Even when Betty and Magic Man were trying to tap into GOLB ‘s power it doesn’t look like they were able to summon him from their dimension. They had to disappear for a while and presumably open a portal to Earth from GOLB’s side at the other end. This is supported by the fact that early on in the Gum War Finn and Jake were eyeing Magic Man and Betty with Maja on the flying carpet in the night-sky with a telescope, but after a while they glitched out and suddenly vanished. Later when we see GOLB’s portal open the first person that comes flying out on Fire is not GOLB but Magic Man. It proves that GOLB couldn’t leave his current position on his own, at least not without outside help. This is also supported by the fact that GOLB’s chaotic presence was already transforming OOO’s atmosphere on a planetary-scale after he was there for just a few seconds and even Marceline could see that if GOLB stayed hear any longer it would be quote: “The End of OOO” implying that GOLB cannot exist in our normal realm of existence or else everything around him gets destroyed including the very fabric of reality itself. So I don’t think Betty did simply delay GOLB I think in the end she found the most permanent solution to the problem which ironically just happened to be the plan that was already working before Betty summoned him here and fucked everything up. I also think that GOLB was summoned on Mars too due to it seeming to be such a random location for him to pop up and for the fact that he was somehow dispelled afterwords due to the fact that Earth and most of the solar-system were left perfectly intact. Plus we know how magically and scientifically advanced martian society is so it wouldn’t have been to crazy to expect that the Martians were experimenting with parallel dimensions and suddenly summoned GOLB into their world by mistake.
I think GOLB also has another role in the multiverse: nightmares. If the universe is one big dream formed by the cosmic imagination, obviously there'd be nightmares to corrupt that dream and make it scary and monsterous. and then there's what happened in Puhoy. Finn's pillow universe got swallowed by GOLB and he woke up in the real world and forgot it, as if it was a dream he was trying to remember. And what's one of the most common nightmares? being eaten by a monster, after which you immediately wake up
I feel like the lich plays that role better. Plus Finn would've woken up from pillow work regardless. He just happened to see GOLB right before he consumed pillow world. He wasn't even afraid. Unlike when he had a nightmare about the lich killing billy which actually happened and scared him right before he woke up.
@@kaveman3136 The difference is that Golb is that Finn knew the lich and his intentions, at this point in the story he didn't know what Golb was about and he couldn't just get scared because Finn was only afraid of the lich because of what he did.
I find it terrifying how every scenario in the end game of Adventure Time displays the world as a ticking time bomb in one way or another, be it Sweet Pea dying and inadvertently unleashing The Lich, Golb consuming Betty’s essence and regaining control over himself, or even the Pup Kingdom consuming all of Ooo’s resources and leaving the planet bereft.

@@SitaraAleu Ohh good question, only thing I can think of that could make it possible that the lich still exists in sweet pea is the possibility that all the other tetris blocks were liches from alternate universes which completed their ultimate goal, which would mean that if one lich was turned into a tetris block and other versions still existed afterward, then that could mean that sweet pea lich still exists

The interesting part is that, since Betty is part of Golb now, Golb is now controlled by a sentient being. She might actually manage to help Golb do less damage. If he has to return to a world to unleash chaos, she can make sure it happens to an uninhabited planet, or at least try to aim the chaos away from people.
That, or GOLB might integrate her intelligence into his very being and somehow gain a consciousness of his own. Just imagine the thought of a fully self-aware GOLB Eeeesh… 😬😰 That would be truly terrifying…
But would he even be evil though? Like Chaos and Order is not inherently Good and Bad, they’re both important elements in the multiverse and above the insignificant system of morality as we know it. If Golb did consume her mind and gains a consciousness, I believe if would a similar case of Majin Buu who was a being who simply lived for destruction and after absorbing the kind heart of the Grand Supreme Kai, was able to become childish and somewhat innocent. Like a newborn with God-like Power.

Just because he gains the ability to think doesn't mean he knows/remembers everything up to this point. Thankfully, he's sharing a body with someone who used to be mortal, or he straight up absorbed a mortal's entire consciousness. Either way, he'll know precisely what kind of impact his chaos has on the lives around him, and will have a higher chance of feeling empathy for them. Yes, he has to come back at some point... but will he want to? Or will he want to play damage control, and try to unleash chaos somewhere where it won't hurt anyone?
I personally don't see Golb as actively malicious. Yes, where they go, chaos inevitably follows, but in the few times we see them destroying worlds, they never actively take part in it. For example, the finale. Golb gets summoned to Earth, opens his mouth, letting out a substance that turns a bunch of Candy People and a Gumball Guardian into monsters, eats Finn, Ice King, and Betty because they just so happened to be close by, and nothing else. Throughout the entire battle, the only action Golb takes is opening his mouth because a couple of people happened to be close by. Which makes me think that what happened to Margles is the same thing that happened to Finn, IK, and Betty. She just so happened to get to close to Golb, causing them to eat her. To me, Golb isn't some heinous person, it's like you said, they're just a living calamity. A hurricane doesn't destroy your house because it's good or evil. A hurricane destroys your house because it is. Golb just is. Not good, not evil, just a force of nature.
I think the idea that Golb comes back from the takeover has merit if you look at the pose he arrives in the show. Calmly sitting down and trying not to bother anyone. I think it’s possible that Betty may not be the first to try and not be the first to eventually fail too. While Chaos is uncontrollable, it can be influenced in certain directions.
That actually makes sense. Everything about him looks almost shellshocked, as though the final vestige of horrified emotion from the previous container was cemented onto Golb’s face when he took control back
Golb can also erase people’s memories of individuals/worlds when they are destroyed by golb. Just look at Finn when he completely forgets about pillow world.
@mil4851 magic man remembered margles, and Simon remembered betty. Golb doesn't erase memories, so finn must have forgotten because it was just a dream from his perspective.

I think Betty can limit Golb by changing the tactics used to cause chaos. Instead of all consuming she can still fill her role as chaos and discord incarnate by say... making a certain Anthropologist she has a soft spot for immortal so he will act like a ripple into tidal waves. Changing small things to cause domino effects in chaos rather than mindless destruction
after seeing fionna and cake this seems true from simon being dead from a vamp to marcy not existing being ice marcy then melting even in fionnas world betty has a lot of influence with her statue just existing for no reason i cant stop thinking about betty golbs design if you compare it to golbs the bottom eyes have a line connecting making it look like either glasses or a mouth and even the cross ribbon is from bettys magic man hat from when they switched sanities i cannot wait until the last two episodes come i hope they have a happy ending
I would argue that Golb accepted Betty into itself, regardless of Betty's wish. Betty serves, to some degree, as an agent of chaos herself. Mad with desperate love and Magic Man's power, she haphazardly summoned Golb in a last ditch attempt to fufill a universally pointless task. Just as love can be harmonious, it can also be mad and without direction. In that moment, she made a wish. Not to the crown, but to Golb himself--to become one with the embodiment of madness, to let go of any sense of self-preservation or individual purpose. Her only purpose was mad, suicidal and without reason; protecting Simon.
that’s might be why Golb doesn’t accept the Lich as he isn’t chaotic. The lich always follow an orderly task, the death of everything and once that done he is lost without purpose.
To me Golb kind of feels like he's the embodiment of Entropy, he appears unless summoned when something is coming to an end and his vary appearance starts to cause the things around him to break down. The difference between the Lich who also embodies that concept is the lich actively tries to bring destruction and death, Golb just kind of does it passively. He also doesn't seem to react to anything, the events going on around him, people trying to attack him, or even when damage is inflicted on him, he reacted exactly twice, and that was when Jake bounced ogg his tongue whe pillow world died, and when he fused. Entropy isn't good or evil it simply is and is the final state of everything eventually, so the reason it might not be active if this theory is true is because it can wait however long it needs to as everything ends eventually, so there's no point in trying to bring things to and end when they will on their own if given enough time, so there's no rush.
golb to me, is not entropy that's the lich who also so happens to be evil incarnate, golb is more like a mix of destruction and chaos, he seemly doesn't really do anything but at the same time is one of the most powerful entities in adventure time the only one who is more powerful then golb is the cosmic imagination but that's just unfair

Could golb be the primordials doing, wanting an entity that they could worship to be the ideal version of themselves? Cause its kinda weird we don't see any primordials fight each other, ans cause i don't think i saw golb in the litch past when there was nothing.
It's possible, I like to think he was the "First Born" so to speak. Considering before there was nothing there was clearly chaos. Not to mention he's far more powerful than any primordial we've seen. But unfortunately not enough info on this one 😅
@@freesteylerr082 As far as I can tell, only Coconteppi would stand a chance against Golb making him far more powerful than most other primordials we have seen, like the Lich or Orgalorg. And even then, Coconteppi's abilities are active, things they have to do willingly, while Golb's mass destruction are passive things that occur just by Golb existing.
After Fionna and Cake I think that Golb is the foil to Prismo's boss. They're twins representing opposite concepts Golb represents multiversal chaos which is why they are associated with entropy and discord, and Prismo's boss represents multiversal order. If they're yin-yang twins it might explain why GGGG wears a Golbish hat; he's part of the greater natural order and to be respected, if feared
The Lich cannot lose, only delayed. He is a scholar of Golb. Golb is nonexistence and the Lich is the end. When the Lich brings the end, there is nothing left but nonexistence. Therefore he is just another piece
A few notes about the end: She may have gone to the void due to her presence still being corrosive to reality, and wanting to avoid that damage. Also I don't think Golb would be "returning", especially since there wasn't really an intelligence there, rather Betty-Golb may just become more like OG Golb due to the force of her role as you mentioned, so you could still end up with intelligent Golb as you said unless her intelligence falls with her personality.
I found ur tiktok like a month ago about powerscaling 2 different adventure time characters, and no joke, it gave me motivation to rewatch the show with a friend of mine, not only to see how it holds up, but we both kinda stopped watching it around season 5, like literally right b4 we get into all of the lore content, so thank u🙏
I rarely see it spoken about in other places, but I'd like to mention a few things about Mars, or, more specifically, the episode Betty is in Mars. On the title card, you can see golb's head with the 4 eyes. Now, later during the episode on Mars you can see pyramids, which, are the same shape as golb's head. It makes me think the people of Mars once worshipped him. I also think thst the giant hole Betty was filling in with sand one grain at a time was the crater where gold was when he attacked mars. I don't really see this being talked about anywhere else, so I felt the need to add.
I actually support this theory anf here’s why: In almost all of GOLB’s appearances he is always tied in somehow with Mars and the martian society. The pyramid shaped head of GOLB is unusually similar to the Headwear that is used by Glob, grod, grob, gob and his very name: GOLB is an anagram of Glob who is worshipped as a god on OOO and is seen to occupy a very high place in Martian Society beinh 2nd only to the King of Mars and later replacing him when he’s gone. This all points to GOLB having once been worshipped as the Main God on Mars and at one point having been so pivotal that entire temples and monuments were erected in his name. (As seen in the title cover for “Temple of Mars”) It’s possible that thr Martians may have started worshiping GOLB due to his signature Red hue which might’ve made the early inhabitants of Mars mistake him for the patron deity of their planet. Due to it also being Bright Red, (at least within the show) most likely when Mars came to know of GOLB’s True nature they took down and buried all of their monuments to him and possibly tried to cover up their dark past until King of Mars arrived. It’s also possible that at one point they even tried to summon him, which was what inadvertently caused the end of Magic Man’s wife.
I just imagine the lich and a bunch of other primordials were like "Ayo look at golb, he's got it all figured out" he's like the dude of primordials so everyone just wanted to pick his brain why he bowled so good "Where the power golbowsky?"
If the cosmic imagination is some kind Boltzmann brain that had a dream or thought that was the multiverse of adventure time Then what does that make golb? An intrusive thought, creeping dementia, a sleep paralysis demon or something else? Also, if you're in Prismo's room and you wish for the Lich to always fail in every reality and universe What I think will happen is that the Lich will only be able to do things at 50% That includes: His power is at 50% His strategies are 50% effective He can only kill and hurt you no more than 50%(that may be a worse fate to someone) *His goal to end all life is impossible, and he'll remain in a paradoxical state of inactivity and activity, rendering him to only be able to move in frames* Oh damnn, I think I just beat the Lich... Sure, he's still dangerous, but now he's just a potential threat instead of an absolute death! He basically becomes a moving zamboni 😂
Forgot to mention this: Any and all actions and thoughts the Lich could do successfully in the past can now only be executed at 50% He really is a zamboni now 🤣
Most likely if you wished for the Lich to fail in every world, the same thing as wishing someone back from Golb would occur. The Lich embodies a fundamental part of the multiverse in the form of mass death, so either Prismo wouldn't be able to change anything, or his Boss would get him in serious trouble and by extension the wisher. Since we see he dragged Finn and Jake into shenanigans when their wish got him in trouble,

What I am doing is changing the Lich just as Betty changed Golb. I'm not removing the fundamental part of the multiverse just altering it a little. The lich represents THE END, and nobody can prevent that, but I am able to slow it down and prolong it; I can't alter the finish line, but I can extend the race track and the cars moving in it so the race lasts longer. I don't think Prismo's boss would get mad as I merely prolonged the inevitable. The Lich would be slowed down to a snail's pace🐌 Speaking of snails. The Lich would have two chances to escape his exposed mundane existence: 1. He could mind control a victim into undoing my wish, just like when he used the snail to free himself and regain his power the first time. 2. The Lich can use Amok time to escape his paradoxical existence, which shouldn't be too hard for him being a primordial that predates time. For all extents and purposes I have defeated the Lich I've rendered him to a hateful zamboni 😏🤣

What do you mean by peaceful because you're not going to be like sweet P for example there and be like Finn the human or shoko they can be influenced by their natural evil but they can resist it sometimes also I don't think they'll be destroying things you guys think of the Lich on a human scale they may have the power and knowledge to do such things but will they actually do it because after all there's still a mortal

In a certain point of view, I think it would be Prizmo because he will grant a wish which can change the entire universe if so, which would need a deep understanding of how everything works and make adjustments to each desire. Or maybe the Boss of Prizmo, if there is one. Idk but that's a good question.
Its interesting how it seems to be a partern in adventure time that a good way to deal with a evil creature that can't die is to make them share the body with a good personality, the Lich and Sweet Pea, Golb and Betty, Orgalorg and Gunter(Gunter is not that good but he is definetly more controlable and less evil than Orgalorg)
Could it be argued that like life or death, Golb too is a fundamental force that makes up part of all reality, and cannot be separated from it? Entropy is terrifying, but it is a constant. It is a concept that facilitates the existence of its opposite.
i don’t think betty’s intelligence will remain part of golb. he is an entity of pure chaos and discord, any intelligence or anything connected to betty groff cannot withstand that discord. if golb became intelligent, that would require a level of order and harmony that he cannot access. if something as simple as a song sung by a few hundred people was enough to open his stomach, there’s no way that that intelligence could ever be something he has access to once betty can no longer exist.

I have a theory about Golbetty, the Wish Betty made was simply to “keep Simon safe” and the crown fulfilled on that wish, for now. I think that when Simon passes away from natural causes the hold Betty has on golb will be broken and golb will be free once more.
I originally thought golb was pretty much the incarnation of the devil as in the old series, everytime someone cursed, they'd say "glob". At this point I didn't know about awesome Mr four heads, so I thought glob was the name of the god in adventure time. As a result, I heard golb and though "it's literally an half inversion of glob. Opposite to glob, but equal means anti god which means devil". I like how he'such more complex than that, but that might be the line of thought that lead to his name, at least. Heck, first time we hear his name, it's Simon interrupting someone who was saying "oh my glob"

After thinking about it, i believe it may be possible that both exist at the same time, but Betty takes control when her wish aka Simon is involved. So since Golbs presence was risking Simons life, she was able to make Golb leave, but then went into a kind of hibernation until we see Golb again

In the video about the creator of the crown (the Ice King Crown thing), the original ice elemental, HE ISN'T JUST A GENIUS AMONG GENIUSES, HIS CROWN'S ABILITY TO CREATE WISHES IS LITERALLY STRONG ENOUGH TO DEFEAT GOLB, IT IS A LIMITLESS WISH SPELL WITH NO RESTRICTIONS.
Perhaps her teleporting away was because, like you said, Golb just existing in the physical plain is incredibly dangerous. And with the Fionna and cake spin off, it is confirmed that there is no more Golb or Betty anymore their a completely new entity.
I don't think betty will necisarily lose controle of golb she is golb now. She most likely left because the world ending chaos happens passivly, like from simpley breathing. At 5:22 in the book, on the left is Abraxas. A Gnostic being. It is seen as a archon, deity and an aeon and later on a demon. So Golb may fall into the same catergory as a being of gnosis as well?
Probably, but I doubt his name is abraxas, it looks more like a talus or halus, idk but so far we know that he's some kind of entity that involves around ouroboros, which means infinity, so he might be the embodiment of infinity?, we still don't know, but we know he goes through a portal the same way golb goes
@@Adam.everest The actual image of the being with the rooster head, man's body and snake legs is Abraxas as depicted on all sorts of ancient stuff in the real world, especially intaglio stones. I'm just guessing they either thought the image was cool and used it, or they know what he/it is and it's a symbol to show Golb is considered some sort of Aeon/Archon in Adventure Time. So maybe just a emanation/manifestation of an overbeing such as how Abraxas is. Who knows though since the Betty Gold just "killed' the Lich into a tetris piece which may or may not change the dynamic of how the comets work since those are also cosmic beings in a sense.
The idea of golb and the Lich being intrinsic components of adventure time as a multiverse is interesting because it almost demands that their opposites exist as well. We could infer that Finn and the lich are opposites since they are reincarnations of opposite catalyst comets(baring the lich is somewhat more complex being born in the sea of monsters.) but who is golb’s counterbalance? Chaos cannot exist without order anymore than light can exist without darkness. I’m excited to see if there will be an anti golb introduced in Fiona and cake or even a different spin off or if Golb’s antithesis is actually just the cosmos itself
One other theory is that Golb is simply just a baby, and his source of nutrition is entire worlds and existences since the only thing we've ever seen him do is sit there, waiting for things to enter his mouth and exists I dunno, just food for theorys
4:50 HOLD UP New Death was already a Cosmic Entity 🤨 You keep forgetting that New Death is the literal spawn between him and his wife Life who is also the personification of Life and Vitality across all Universes. Thus indirectly being a Cosmic Entity himself. However as The Lich stated, unlike his parents he was born with no purpose due to the nature of his birth and was denied a proper role to fulfill within the cosmic hierarchy of the Multiverse. As there is no in-between for Life and Death. New Death only got his father’s position after he himself supplanted him and killed him, which normally should be impossible unless you have a kiss of life, however since New Death was the Son of Life he carried some of her essence within him and was able to achieve the same effect with his bite.

Yk what's crazy? Prismo should be the most powerful being that uses wish granting magic yet he has no affect on GOLB. So how did a much weaker being create an object that uses wish granting magic that can affect GOLB? Doesn't make sense.

Here is my theory, we know catalyst comets are essentially the big players and the bringers of change to the world and I think we can say Betty was probably the biggest bringer of change to adventure time. Now what if Betty was an incarnation of a catalyst comet, specifically the one that Orgalorg tried to harness. And Betty's purpose on the planet was actually to at some point merge with Golb and become a new entity of or weaker version of Golb that has control. I know that some theories think Jake is the comet and the reason why I dislike this theory is we see Jake hasn't entered the cycle of reincarnation in death but has rather gone and achieved enlightenment. And only after Finn comes does he choose to be reincarnated. Now this could have been his choice, but if he was the reincarnation of a cosmic entity I do not think he would be able to or allowed to do this for so long.
Here's a theory if golb is the embodiment of chaos and even if he didn't create the lich and other entities that represents an evil aspect of the universe does that mean that there's another entity that embodies peace and I like to think that when the characters say oh my glob it's not just a sentence it truly means there's some God out there that's represents Peace and harmony the exact opposite of golb that way the universe can balance also maybe that means finn is a scholar of glob like he wasn't created for a master plan but he exists to counter things maybe by golb like the lich that's my theory but of course the show never tells us this it's the beauty of adventure Time they don't tell us allot just bits and pieces and you have to figure out the rest 😂😂. You know I always wondered if someone wanted to stop the Lich permanently and played their cards right could they potentially trick Golb or at least somehow manipulate him to get rid of the Lich? I mean Golb doesn’t really show that much sentience plus he’s obviously leagues more powerful then the Lich. I mean the only real time Golb showed some signs of intelligence is when he was eying Finn leaving Pillow world but even then I think that was more of Finn catching his attention since he literally bounced off of Golb’s tongue. But for real though If someone were to somehow do that I wonder what the consequences would be since the Lich is kind alike a major part in terms of what he is and Im sure getting rid of something like that would bound to have some consequences in terms of reality

6:40 Alright here me out, I don’t think Betty taking GOLB away to the void is actually delaying him, and here’s why:
In every appearance GOLB is always sitting in the Void outside all existence and just meditating there. We don’t know why he continues to sit there, but we do know that he is capable of still performing his multiversal responsibilities of bringing chaos and entropy as seen in the episode “Puhoy” In that episode GOLB effortlessly ERADICATES the pillow world and wipes all memories associated with it, as seen when Finn goes back to normal reality and he doesn’t remember anything that happened there. The Main Factor to notice however is that we never once see GOLB descend into Pillow World to wreak havoc like he does in our Dimension. We just see Finn pass by him on his way back to the regular dimension through the Void. This Implies that GOLB doesn’t even NEED to move from his spot in the void in order to consume worlds, in fact it even makes much more sense why he doesn’t need to leave since we have never seen GOLB leave his void ONCE by himself, he’s always summoned. Even when Betty and Magic Man were trying to tap into GOLB ‘s power it doesn’t look like they were able to summon him from their dimension. They had to disappear for a while and presumably open a portal to Earth from GOLB’s side at the other end. This is supported by the fact that early on in the Gum War Finn and Jake were eyeing Magic Man and Betty with Maja on the flying carpet in the night-sky with a telescope, but after a while they glitched out and suddenly vanished. Later when we see GOLB’s portal open the first person that comes flying out on Fire is not GOLB but Magic Man. It proves that GOLB couldn’t leave his current position on his own, at least not without outside help. This is also supported by the fact that GOLB’s chaotic presence was already transforming OOO’s atmosphere on a planetary-scale after he was there for just a few seconds and even Marceline could see that if GOLB stayed hear any longer it would be quote: “The End of OOO” implying that GOLB cannot exist in our normal realm of existence or else everything around him gets destroyed including the very fabric of reality itself. So I don’t think Betty did simply delay GOLB I think in the end she found the most permanent solution to the problem which ironically just happened to be the plan that was already working before Betty summoned him here and fucked everything up. I also think that GOLB was summoned on Mars too due to it seeming to be such a random location for him to pop up and for the fact that he was somehow dispelled afterwords due to the fact that Earth and most of the solar-system were left perfectly intact. Plus we know how magically and scientifically advanced martian society is so it wouldn’t have been to crazy to expect that the Martians were experimenting with parallel dimensions and suddenly summoned GOLB into their world by mistake.

If the universe is one big dream formed by the cosmic imagination, obviously there'd be nightmares to corrupt that dream and make it scary and monsterous. and then there's what happened in Puhoy. Finn's pillow universe got swallowed by GOLB and he woke up in the real world and forgot it, as if it was a dream he was trying to remember. And what's one of the most common nightmares? being eaten by a monster, after which you immediately wake up

I feel like the lich plays that role better. Plus Finn would've woken up from pillow work regardless. He just happened to see GOLB right before he consumed pillow world. He wasn't even afraid. Unlike when he had a nightmare about the lich killing billy which actually happened and scared him right before he woke up.

Cosmic owl gives Finn a nightmare about billy being attacked, king worm in a way gives him a nightmare as he is putting him under a dream
I find it terrifying how every scenario in the end game of Adventure Time displays the world as a ticking time bomb in one way or another, be it Sweet Pea dying and inadvertently unleashing The Lich, Golb consuming Betty’s essence and regaining control over himself, or even the Pup Kingdom consuming all of Ooo’s resources and leaving the planet bereft.

The interesting part is that, since Betty is part of Golb now, Golb is now controlled by a sentient being. She might actually manage to help Golb do less damage. If he has to return to a world to unleash chaos, she can make sure it happens to an uninhabited planet, or at least try to aim the chaos away from people.
That, or GOLB might integrate her intelligence into his very being and somehow gain a consciousness of his own.

Like a newborn with God-like Power.

Just because he gains the ability to think doesn't mean he knows/remembers everything up to this point. Thankfully, he's sharing a body with someone who used to be mortal, or he straight up absorbed a mortal's entire consciousness. Either way, he'll know precisely what kind of impact his chaos has on the lives around him, and will have a higher chance of feeling empathy for them. Yes, he has to come back at some point... but will he want to? Or will he want to play damage control, and try to unleash chaos somewhere where it won't hurt anyone?
I personally don't see Golb as actively malicious. Yes, where they go, chaos inevitably follows, but in the few times we see them destroying worlds, they never actively take part in it. For example, the finale. Golb gets summoned to Earth, opens his mouth, letting out a substance that turns a bunch of Candy People and a Gumball Guardian into monsters, eats Finn, Ice King, and Betty because they just so happened to be close by, and nothing else. Throughout the entire battle, the only action Golb takes is opening his mouth because a couple of people happened to be close by. Which makes me think that what happened to Margles is the same thing that happened to Finn, IK, and Betty. She just so happened to get to close to Golb, causing them to eat her. To me, Golb isn't some heinous person, it's like you said, they're just a living calamity. A hurricane doesn't destroy your house because it's good or evil. A hurricane destroys your house because it is. Golb just is. Not good, not evil, just a force of nature.
I think the idea that Golb comes back from the takeover has merit if you look at the pose he arrives in the show. Calmly sitting down and trying not to bother anyone.
I think it’s possible that Betty may not be the first to try and not be the first to eventually fail too. While Chaos is uncontrollable, it can be influenced in certain directions.
That actually makes sense. Everything about him looks almost shellshocked, as though the final vestige of horrified emotion from the previous container was cemented onto Golb’s face when he took control back
Golb can also erase people’s memories of individuals/worlds when they are destroyed by golb. Just look at Finn when he completely forgets about pillow world.
I think forgetting about pillow world is more a side effect of Finns vault filed by hus meat brain as another past life to lock away

I think Betty can limit Golb by changing the tactics used to cause chaos. Instead of all consuming she can still fill her role as chaos and discord incarnate by say... making a certain Anthropologist she has a soft spot for immortal so he will act like a ripple into tidal waves.

I would argue that Golb accepted Betty into itself, regardless of Betty's wish. Betty serves, to some degree, as an agent of chaos herself. Mad with desperate love and Magic Man's power, she haphazardly summoned Golb in a last ditch attempt to fufill a universally pointless task. Just as love can be harmonious, it can also be mad and without direction. In that moment, she made a wish. Not to the crown, but to Golb himself--to become one with the embodiment of madness, to let go of any sense of self-preservation or individual purpose. Her only purpose was mad, suicidal and without reason; protecting Simon.

that’s might be why Golb doesn’t accept the Lich as he isn’t chaotic. The lich always follow an orderly task, the death of everything and once that done he is lost without purpose.
To me Golb kind of feels like he's the embodiment of Entropy, he appears unless summoned when something is coming to an end and his vary appearance starts to cause the things around him to break down.
The difference between the Lich who also embodies that concept is the lich actively tries to bring destruction and death, Golb just kind of does it passively.
He also doesn't seem to react to anything, the events going on around him, people trying to attack him, or even when damage is inflicted on him, he reacted exactly twice, and that was when Jake bounced ogg his tongue whe pillow world died, and when he fused.
Entropy isn't good or evil it simply is and is the final state of everything eventually, so the reason it might not be active if this theory is true is because it can wait however long it needs to as everything ends eventually, so there's no point in trying to bring things to and end when they will on their own if given enough time, so there's no rush.
golb to me, is not entropy that's the lich who also so happens to be evil incarnate, golb is more like a mix of destruction and chaos, he seemly doesn't really do anything but at the same time is one of the most powerful entities in adventure time the only one who is more powerful then golb is the cosmic imagination but that's just unfair

They're twins representing opposite concepts Golb represents multiversal chaos which is why they are associated with entropy and discord, and Prismo's boss represents multiversal order. If they're yin-yang twins it might explain why GGGG wears a Golbish hat; he's part of the greater natural order and to be respected, if feared

A few notes about the end: She may have gone to the void due to her presence still being corrosive to reality, and wanting to avoid that damage.
Also I don't think Golb would be "returning", especially since there wasn't really an intelligence there, rather Betty-Golb may just become more like OG Golb due to the force of her role as you mentioned, so you could still end up with intelligent Golb as you said unless her intelligence falls with her personality.

I rarely see it spoken about in other places, but I'd like to mention a few things about Mars, or, more specifically, the episode Betty is in Mars.
On the title card, you can see golb's head with the 4 eyes. Now, later during the episode on Mars you can see pyramids, which, are the same shape as golb's head.
It makes me think the people of Mars once worshipped him. I also think thst the giant hole Betty was filling in with sand one grain at a time was the crater where gold was when he attacked mars.
I don't really see this being talked about anywhere else, so I felt the need to add.
I actually support this theory anf here’s why:
In almost all of GOLB’s appearances he is always tied in somehow with Mars and the martian society. The pyramid shaped head of GOLB is unusually similar to the Headwear that is used by Glob, grod, grob, gob and his very name: GOLB is an anagram of Glob who is worshipped as a god on OOO and is seen to occupy a very high place in Martian Society beinh 2nd only to the King of Mars and later replacing him when he’s gone.
This all points to GOLB having once been worshipped as the Main God on Mars and at one point having been so pivotal that entire temples and monuments were erected in his name. (As seen in the title cover for “Temple of Mars”) It’s possible that thr Martians may have started worshiping GOLB due to his signature Red hue which might’ve made the early inhabitants of Mars mistake him for the patron deity of their planet. Due to it also being Bright Red, (at least within the show) most likely when Mars came to know of GOLB’s True nature they took down and buried all of their monuments to him and possibly tried to cover up their dark past until King of Mars arrived. It’s also possible that at one point they even tried to summon him, which was what inadvertently caused the end of Magic Man’s wife.
So golb is basically a cartoon version of the anti-monitor

Most likely if you wished for the Lich to fail in every world, the same thing as wishing someone back from Golb would occur. The Lich embodies a fundamental part of the multiverse in the form of mass death, so either Prismo wouldn't be able to change anything, or his Boss would get him in serious trouble and by extension the wisher. Since we see he dragged Finn and Jake into shenanigans when their wish got him in trouble,

Yes, that would normally be true if I tried to completely remove the Lich from existing like Finn, but I'm not doing that.
What I am doing is changing the Lich just as Betty changed Golb. I'm not removing the fundamental part of the multiverse just altering it a little. The lich represents THE END, and nobody can prevent that, but I am able to slow it down and prolong it;
I can't alter the finish line, but I can extend the race track and the cars moving in it so the race lasts longer.
I don't think Prismo's boss would get mad as I merely prolonged the inevitable. The Lich would be slowed down to a snail's pace🐌
Speaking of snails.
The Lich would have two chances to escape his exposed mundane existence:
1. He could mind control a victim into undoing my wish, just like when he used the snail to free himself and regain his power the first time.
2. The Lich can use Amok time to escape his paradoxical existence, which shouldn't be too hard for him being a primordial that predates time.
For all extents and purposes I have defeated the Lich I've rendered him to a hateful zamboni 😏🤣

i don’t think betty’s intelligence will remain part of golb. he is an entity of pure chaos and discord, any intelligence or anything connected to betty groff cannot withstand that discord. if golb became intelligent, that would require a level of order and harmony that he cannot access. if something as simple as a song sung by a few hundred people was enough to open his stomach, there’s no way that that intelligence could ever be something he has access to once betty can no longer exist.

I have a theory about Golbetty, the Wish Betty made was simply to “keep Simon safe” and the crown fulfilled on that wish, for now. I think that when Simon passes away from natural causes the hold Betty has on golb will be broken and golb will be free once more.
I originally thought golb was pretty much the incarnation of the devil as in the old series, everytime someone cursed, they'd say "glob". At this point I didn't know about awesome Mr four heads, so I thought glob was the name of the god in adventure time. As a result, I heard golb and though "it's literally an half inversion of glob. Opposite to glob, but equal means anti god which means devil". I like how he'such more complex than that, but that might be the line of thought that lead to his name, at least. Heck, first time we hear his name, it's Simon interrupting someone who was saying "oh my glob"

With new evidence, Golb(etty) just seems 2B an exiting entity. They have a purpose but perhaps it’s not exactly a rule of the universe.
After thinking about it, i believe it may be possible that both exist at the same time, but Betty takes control when her wish aka Simon is involved.
So since Golbs presence was risking Simons life, she was able to make Golb leave, but then went into a kind of hibernation until we see Golb again

Perhaps her teleporting away was because, like you said, Golb just existing in the physical plain is incredibly dangerous. And with the Fionna and cake spin off, it is confirmed that there is no more Golb or Betty anymore their a completely new entity.
I don't think betty will necisarily lose controle of golb she is golb now. She most likely left because the world ending chaos happens passivly, like from simpley breathing.
That said shes still a human mind as a cosmic entitiy so she's almost certainly going to go bonkers again

At 5:22 in the book, on the left is Abraxas. A Gnostic being. It is seen as a archon, deity and an aeon and later on a demon. So Golb may fall into the same catergory as a being of gnosis as well?
Probably, but I doubt his name is abraxas, it looks more like a talus or halus, idk but so far we know that he's some kind of entity that involves around ouroboros, which means infinity, so he might be the embodiment of infinity?, we still don't know, but we know he goes through a portal the same way golb goes
@@Adam.everest The actual image of the being with the rooster head, man's body and snake legs is Abraxas as depicted on all sorts of ancient stuff in the real world, especially intaglio stones. I'm just guessing they either thought the image was cool and used it, or they know what he/it is and it's a symbol to show Golb is considered some sort of Aeon/Archon in Adventure Time. So maybe just a emanation/manifestation of an overbeing such as how Abraxas is. Who knows though since the Betty Gold just "killed' the Lich into a tetris piece which may or may not change the dynamic of how the comets work since those are also cosmic beings in a sense.

The idea of golb and the Lich being intrinsic components of adventure time as a multiverse is interesting because it almost demands that their opposites exist as well. We could infer that Finn and the lich are opposites since they are reincarnations of opposite catalyst comets(baring the lich is somewhat more complex being born in the sea of monsters.) but who is golb’s counterbalance? Chaos cannot exist without order anymore than light can exist without darkness. I’m excited to see if there will be an anti golb introduced in Fiona and cake or even a different spin off or if Golb’s antithesis is actually just the cosmos itself

New Death was already a Cosmic Entity 🤨
You keep forgetting that New Death is the literal spawn between him and his wife Life who is also the personification of Life and Vitality across all Universes. Thus indirectly being a Cosmic Entity himself. However as The Lich stated, unlike his parents he was born with no purpose due to the nature of his birth and was denied a proper role to fulfill within the cosmic hierarchy of the Multiverse. As there is no in-between for Life and Death.
New Death only got his father’s position after he himself supplanted him and killed him, which normally should be impossible unless you have a kiss of life, however since New Death was the Son of Life he carried some of her essence within him and was able to achieve the same effect with his bite.

Here is my theory, we know catalyst comets are essentially the big players and the bringers of change to the world and I think we can say Betty was probably the biggest bringer of change to adventure time. Now what if Betty was an incarnation of a catalyst comet, specifically the one that Orgalorg tried to harness. And Betty's purpose on the planet was actually to at some point merge with Golb and become a new entity of or weaker version of Golb that has control.
I know that some theories think Jake is the comet and the reason why I dislike this theory is we see Jake hasn't entered the cycle of reincarnation in death but has rather gone and achieved enlightenment. And only after Finn comes does he choose to be reincarnated. Now this could have been his choice, but if he was the reincarnation of a cosmic entity I do not think he would be able to or allowed to do this for so long.
Here's a theory if golb is the embodiment of chaos and even if he didn't create the lich and other entities that represents an evil aspect of the universe does that mean that there's another entity that embodies peace and I like to think that when the characters say oh my glob it's not just a sentence it truly means there's some God out there that's represents Peace and harmony the exact opposite of golb that way the universe can balance also maybe that means finn is a scholar of glob like he wasn't created for a master plan but he exists to counter things maybe by golb like the lich that's my theory but of course the show never tells us this it's the beauty of adventure Time they don't tell us allot just bits and pieces and you have to figure out the rest 😂😂. You know I always wondered if someone wanted to stop the Lich permanently and played their cards right could they potentially trick Golb or at least somehow manipulate him to get rid of the Lich? I mean Golb doesn’t really show that much sentience plus he’s obviously leagues more powerful then the Lich. I mean the only real time Golb showed some signs of intelligence is when he was eying Finn leaving Pillow world but even then I think that was more of Finn catching his attention since he literally bounced off of Golb’s tongue. But for real though If someone were to somehow do that I wonder what the consequences would be since the Lich is kind alike a major part in terms of what he is and Im sure getting rid of something like that would bound to have some consequences in terms of reality
