After 20 years of eq and diy headsets my mental image of the sound from graphs have become shockingly good. I know they doesnt mean much to a beginner, but we enthusiast really appreciate the graphs. Impedance matching is part of the reason Sennheiser HD 6-series headphones pair well with tubes.
A comparison to recently released Focal Azurys would be useful. I’m looking for a good dynamic resolving closed headphones for Metal music specifically.
I love that Senny keeps the design and evolves it. First real headphones that i bought back in 2007/08 looked somewhat the same. Good that they see the timeless design they have on their hands.
@@sennheiser I love them they are my new main at my desk. They sound fantastic out of the box and are super comfortable. I really needed a good closed back that can stand up to daily use and these are perfect for my use case.
i threw some lamb-skin pads on my 560s recently, and they look exactly like the pads pictured here! sound-wise it made the 560s flabbier in the bottom and slightly reduced in the top, sorta closed sounding...🤔 so, judging by the graphs i already own the 620s !! 😁
I've got a collection of 10+ headphones, including Hifiman Arya, for some reason I keep going back to my M50x's that have a pad swap, they just sound correct to me, very comfortable and they go loud. I've yet to find an upgrade, I don't think the HD620S will be even worth buying.
I'm looking forward to this! Currently having the HD660S. Unfortunately I'm living in a place where I can't use open backs that much. I wonder if they will be good enough tho.
Seems promising. Not quite for me yet, but Id be really pleased to see senn get feedback on this one and see what they can make on a revision 2. I really love both my 6XX and 800s and would be thrilled to add a closed back to my arsenal but I’m going to wait for something a bit more refined
I don't know, I'm a long-time owner of the 660S, and to me when I heard the 620S and 660S side-by-side playing the same classical tracks, the difference was night and day in favor of the 660S. The timbre of strings was just off on these.
How do they compare to the audeze maxwell? I'm tempted to go with sennheiser because they have always been the most comfortable headphones for me personally
Maxwell wins a bit on FR because it has built in DSP, but I would rather buy the 620S because it's a passive-product. No battery or electronics to fail over time (and batteries/electronics ALL fail eventually). Plus with how long my HD650s have lasted I feel good about the longevity.
If you want a nice closed back I can recommend the Pioneer HDJ X10. Its about 300 euros but sounds really good for a closed back headphone. It's built like a tank from magnesium and the hinges are sturdy as hell. It even has a 4-pin XLR cable.
I was hoping that sennheiser would clone the hd 600 but the grills on the back of the headphones are closed back instead of open back. For example, have the same sound signature, same frequency response, same measurements, same drivers, same same 300 ohm impedance. Basically an exact copy of the hd 600 but there is only 1 difference being the headphones are close back instead of open back where there is no difference with only 1 exception because the sound quality is exactly the same with no difference at all. Before I got the hd 600, I was mainly using the hd 598 brown and beige open back sennheiser headphones similar to the noctua brown and beige fans. Every time I see the brown and beige noctua fans, it always reminds me of the sennheiser hd 598 open back brown and beige headphones. I have the original marble version of the sennheiser hd 600 that I always use all the time when committing by bus, walking around, running errands, listening to music, watching 4k movies from the headphone jack on my sony xperia 1 iv android phone with it's 4k 120 hz oled display and even playing video games on my gaming laptop being connected to my fiio k3 external dac amp . I actually really like the marble version of the headphones.
As far as sound/graphing is concerned, I use 'PowerAmp' (Android) and I've set my EQ bands to the max 31 bands), so, when I get to test these 620s', I'll listen to them standard and see what changes a notch (or two) drop around the 100Hz does to that mid Bass area does for my ears... 🤔 I 'Tweak' and save each EQ setting for each of my listening gear - HD600, PXC550-II, Meze 99 Neo, Sony CD9000ST and couple of others (one of the other great things about 'PowerAmp'... 👍 😎🇬🇧
I thought about these, but that mid bass bump means they're unusable 4:24 without EQ. I ended up letting go of my LCD-X for same reason, am tempted by Yamaha HPH MT8 as they're much flatter in FR response and do sub bass properly. Edit: I've since watched / read a couple more reviews, and seen some different measurements, especially in the mid and low bass, so decided to give them a punt. As an aside, how do you measure timber? Are you sure it's not just a distortion feature.
Cool stuff! I will definitely try them out. Honestly, I agree, it’s so challenging to design good closed-back headphones, and so few companies have even attempted to do so. Now that Sennheiser has entered the ring with a competitive offering, things are sure to heat up. 😊 PS: If you’re listening, Sennheiser, the plastic construction is great, very light. However, carbon or even wood-style earcups would be so badass! Or maybe some accent pieces here and there. 🎧🔥
I would get the HD 600s, but as I have family around me I don't want open-back style headphones. Would these HD 620s be the best closed-back option for me at this price range? (
Should I upgrade from the HD 598 CS to this? I have absolutely no interest in Beyerdynamics. I like the 598 CS, but I've been trying to eye a headphone with better technicalities and also won't have earpads that will dissolve really fast
It is imo, I've been loving mine. Sure they're not the most timbrely accurate, but they're seriously fun and the wow factor potential is huge depending on what you listen to. Closed backs are never going to be perfect, so something as solid as this is a win in my books.
@@iii___iii I'm finding that they're great for more 'spatial' music. Ambient/electronic and expirimental music really go well with it. Acoustic stuff can sound a bit off because of the closed back nature, but it really depends on the song. I've been blown away by them more often than expected, certain tracks just hit!
I have never found more isolating headphones to have more perceived soundstage. Take the Etymotic ER4 for example, that thing isolates super well and is one of the most intimate sounding IEMs I've heard. The M50X is another good example of this, good isolation but so little soundstage it almost sounds like mono.
HD 620S has a panoramic presentation; we feel it holds its own against even some of the best open headphones we make. But it takes some clever acoustic treatment and driver geometry to make it happen.
@@sennheiser It's the angled drivers that makes a difference in soundstage in terms of imaging. Sounds more like speakers in terms of imaging. Headphones don't technically have any soundstage, unless they are hooked up for binaural reproduction. It's a headstage that headphones and earphones have. Angled drivers makes the imaging and headstage more cohesive. My dream is for Sennheiser to make a closed back that sounds very close to the HD400 Pro with an identical FR.
@@sennheiserFor instance, you wouldn't want to use the HD600 to listen to binaural reproduction if you are looking for the best representation. But the Sennheiser HD400 Pro is perfectly suited for binaural reproduction (due to perfect FR and accurate imaging/no over hyped "soundstage").
These would work well with a DX180 player? Also, lately i wear glasses, do you think this will affect the position on my head and also the sound listening?
I'm looking forward to pad rolling these when I get them! Living in Australia, close backs with leather ear pads can make my ears get sweaty and uncomfortable. What type of attachment system do the ear cups use for the pads?
@@Asturia I don't know, I never heard early units but I like this one. It is hard to find reviews for even the original. Mine is super comfy, decent isolation, and a bit bassy with a warmer signature I'd say, don't know if that lines up with what they were.
Lacks bass extension, Okay, so what I do is plug in the 10ohm impedance adapter from my Truth Ear Zero:Reds and we tick that one off I'm still on the fence, they're $599 AUD. I can currently also get from the right place, HD 6 Hundos for $333 AUD/$220USD ish
@@DMS3TV That they do, everyone seems to have different impressions of the bass so far haha. I think my HRTF and music library may just line up really well with what they're going for. I will say you did a pretty good job explaining the overall sound _character_ of the 620s, they have some unique qualities that are very hard to get across through media!
NDH20 has best isolation of any closed back and nice sub bass, however, of you want Grado-like roaring guitars you're not gonna like it, it's the opposite of that, a bit too withdrawn. Treble is just the right amount. Haven't compared against new Focal but best I can think of under 500.
This is my guess based on what I remember DMS praising over the years: - Dan Clark Aeon Noire - Dan Clark E3 - Dan Clark Aeon RT (same as Aeon X from Drop) - Focal Radiance - Fiio FT1 (budget honorable mention that was released after this video)
I just purchased them yesterday but I have yet to receive it as it still says pre-order but can't wait to hear it as I've been hoping for a closed back HD 600 sound profile even if it doesn't get close to those headphones but has some of it's sonic traits.
I have the DT770Pro X... I like the sound, but the oval shape of Sennheisers is much more comfy for me. Would these be recommended as a replacement for gaming and music?
I would like to see something that looks like a HD 650/600 closed back with dual cable balanced, maybe modular ear cups for making it open or closed? with similar power handling and impedance. Yes I'm German.
I like these, but I have to EQ them to get them to my preference, I use the rock setting on the Apple iPhone EQ and I slightly elevate the bass and treble on my android
HD 569 is a great gateway into hifi in a closed format. That said, the HD 620S is a more capable and luxurious headphone for the money from both a sound and build perspective.
Hey 👋, I enjoy electronic music. I’m dipping my toes in electronic downtempo production. I’m looking for an alternative Hifi or Pro headphones. Will these be appropriate or should I look elsewhere, if so any under $500 recommendations? Thanks for your time !
Also, I was told if I get an 80 ohm DT770 ( with a bass mod tune ) with velour pads. This would be ok for production not, mixing or mastering. Is this good advice? I’m fairly new to this, I’m just looking to get the correct info, thanks again!
@sennheiser Could I be sent a pair in exchange for a comprehensive written review on them in comparison to HD600 and other closed backs like K371 and Maxwell?
@@artureff3046 thanks, not it's getting even harder to choose ;) Where I live Elegia and Azurys are in the same price bracket. I think that as it comes to build-quality Azurys may have a bit advantage.

But THEN moved to LA in late 1970. I still consider Buffalo my home and dearly miss Beef on Weck, German and Italian bakeries, and the places they made chocolates in the front windows of storefronts. listened to WKBW and WNIA as a teen.) of course, there's more.
The DT770 Pro has a v-shaped sound signature like so many Beyerdynamic headphones and i prefer to use it mostly for gaming because the treble is emphasized and it has good imaging and soundstage for a closed back. I wouldn’t get it if you don’t do gaming but only use it for music, if you do get it make sure to get the 80 ohm version as that is the best version. Haven’t listened to the Sennheiser HD620 so can’t tell you the differences but one thing that is obvious is that the Sennheiser is not v-shaped. The DT700 Pro X is less aggressive than the 770 but i definetly prefer the 770 between the two
I wouldn't go for closed-back design, especially for professional mixing. Neutral sound and spatial positioning plays a huge part for your sound perception. The setup of the mixing studio also plays a big role... but more importantly the intended space your final product is going to be delivered. Example, you mix differently for music meant to be played in a theater vs a live soundstage. I would personally go for an open-back planar magnetic design.... Either the HifiMan Edition XS .... or ... if you have the financial freedom, the Audeze LCD-X. If you don't have much experience, the HifiMan are a great starting point and very budget friendly :) You can build your collection from there. There's no golden rule as everyone's ears are different, so make sure you hear them yourself first, before you make a decision. All the best!
I am still using old trusty AKG K550 mkII + Shanling DAC. I have not found anything more pleasant to wear and better sounding for jazz AND EDM. . Sennheiser after this interview does not seem even close to high audio quality level I aspire to. Let me know how wrong I am - but only if you have tried AKG K550 and compared with whatever you think may be better sounding / pleasant to wear for hours...
I saw Josh’s video and Sennheiser didn’t seem to like some of his thoughts. I’ve been waiting for this video to see what the 600s guru had to say about them. Speak to us oh wise one, what do you have to say? 🎧
He lives! That type of resonance is a deal breaker for me. I'd have to try in person. Do you think they allowed it for the way people describe what they like about the 600?
I don't think that resonance has anything to do with the sound of the 600. Probably is some artifact of however they had to design the cups for this thing, but FWIW the 271 for example had pretty much no extra damping foam last I remember taking one apart so it literally was cuppy. Not sure what the back side of the cups of this one looks like
@@metal571 hi, I'm not saying I'm right, I just would think they know about it and my reasoning is people praise the mids/vocal range and for the 650 especially talk about the veil. I've been buying Senns from the hd497 until they nailed the 580 Jubilee, 650 at release, didn't like 660/800/820s, do like the 58XJ. Just think it's probably not missed by them unless it's a rare terrible mistake like a nighthawk or the original LCD x closed
I’m so relieved to see them release an audiophile overhead! It was starting to look like new Sennheiser was just going to be releasing wireless stuff for a while there!
If you get the chance to demo them at some point, I don't think they feel or sound like a $200 headphone at all. Compared to the 560s, the build is a massive amount better, and I would argue the sound is a lot better as well (at least to my ears). For the $300 I found them for, they are phenomenal for a closed back.
@@sennheiser as a musician when I use a headphone I prefer if the cable can easily disconnect, reason being that if I accidentally get the cable caught on something it just simply unplugs rather than ripping the headphones off my head possibly damaging them, or dragging my head down. I understand the appeal of locking in, but for me personally the small inconvenience of the cable coming unplugged is much better than having my head yanked down or possibly damaging my gear. Still looks like an awesome headphone though, and I will be for sure trying them once I get the chance.
Take a look at the Monolith Liquid Plat, Cayin HA 1A Mk2, Quicksilver Headphone Amp, Dragon Inspire IHA, Violectric V281 (tube like sound), feliks echo mk2, hagerman tuba. dont expect a "tubey, wet" sound out of all of them, some like the monolith are hybrids and more neutral sounding.
Dang! I just want a non bluetooth headphone with good bass but without the boost in the highs, without being a mess like these. the 700 pro X or anything from them is to jacked in the Bass, but I love the low end measurements. the AKG 371 is to cheap , limited options here
Why is that exactly? I have a HD569 too, but looking for a replacement after my dog got hold of it, it is still kind of usable but needs a replacement.
@@Asturia well if you shop around it can be had for really cheap. I like the tuning, nice bass bump, it is different, I have more than enough neutral cans I don't need more so that is purely subjective on my part.
The Radiance is just an awesome underrated HP, I actually enjoy it more than my Utopia because it doesn’t have the nasty bass clipping at high volumes. But people got butthurt over the Bentley logo on it making it sort of a black sheep of the bunch.
I think there's not a lot of good closed back because the demand isn't there? I mean... For the same price, you can get a Sennheiser Momentum 4 that is wireless, has ANC, a microphone, can be equalized easily, etc... Unless you're in a studio setting why would you buy those? 🤔
@@En_Joshi-Godrez Is it really? You tried both? Even if you focus solely on SQ, I'd argue that because the Momentum can easily be EQed to the Harman curve or whatever you like, it's already worth it because FR represents the majority of what people consider "sound quality". Personally, if I want the ultimate SQ, I feel it's more worth it to spend a lot on a good open back headphones because you get the wide soundstage 😎 not so much for a closed back...
@@1337sim1 you can eq either of them. Are you ignorant enough to believe their app of GEQ filters is enough to customise it to any target curve? You seem to not understand how eq works.
@@1337sim1 show me on their app where it allows you to auto equalise it to any target. You won't. 4 fixed band GEQ filters can't do that. It will never do that. Get a qudelix or power amp.
@@En_Joshi-Godrez I'm ignorant if you say so. To me Wavelet is easier to use than PEACE EQ. Also, lots of people listen to music in less than ideal conditions. The benefits of the one-click EQ + ANC wins over a regular closed back.
Yes, solderdude at DIYaudiohaven confirmed in his review that they have the same earpad mounting mechanism as the hd560s and hd569, however using different pads to the original severely distort negatively the frequency response so if you are going to replace them it should be for another pair of the original
Senn has been making headphones for decades. Why can't they perfect one to DMS' satisfaction? Are the incremental changes a commercial strategy to keep selling? After all, I own two Seens already spurred on by DMS.
Because it's notoriosusly hard to make closed backs sound good, but the market has become increasingly better recently in the upper price categories at least so we can expect good things to come.
Have had the 560s for a year and just got the 620s in yesterday. 620s have much more bass out of the box (I usually have to eq the 560s for music a little bit), but the bass is definitely not too much IMO. 560s are brighter, of course. 620s has a very comparable soundstage I'd say. Timbre is slightly better on the 560s I'd say, but honestly I prefer vocals on the 620s, I feel like the 620s are more detailed (could just be closed back advantage) and overall a much more fun listen for music. For gaming, the 620s are very capable, the soundstage and imaging are quite good, just should probably use EQ (560s have kind of an ideal freq response for gaming). It feels like a notable step up in sound quality, and it's a huge step up in build quality. People were hating on the build of these, but in the hand, they feel much, much nicer than the 560s. I'm thrilled with the sound and particularly this sound given it's closed back. Just be aware, as DMS points out, that closed backs will sound different to everyone, so if you buy, buy somewhere with a good return policy in case the sound just doesn't work for you.
@@jedisoldier Hey! Thanks for your response. I enjoyed reading through all the details you gave. I have the 560s and enjoy it for most things. It is interesting that you say the sound stage is comparable. I was curious about these two because the 620s is quite expensive but it seems like a closed back 560s, and was wondering if it is worth the price. Why did you want to get the 620s after the 560s? Is it just because u needed a closed back for some purpose? Edit: do you use an amp for these headphones?
@@argo117007 Hey, it's hard to directly compare soundstage, particularly in a closed vs open back, but the 620s truely do sound pretty spacious, at least for a closed back. I've never thought they sound super closed in. I wouldn't quite describe it as a closed 560s, the 620s has way more bass, which makes for a much more 'fun' sound. treble is a little less emphasized than the 560s, but still highly present. Overall it's a great listen, I've really enjoyed it. I do think "boxy" can describe the sound at times, but for most music it's been great. Yes, I realized there were a lot of cases I'd be willing to use a closed back than I would an open back. It just opens up when/where I'm able to listen to music with nice headphones. So funnily enough I had actually upgraded from the 560s to sticker modded had 8xx's (basically hd800s). Fantastic headphones, ridiculously good for gaming, but a bit of a cumbersome setup (dac + amp + modmic + dual cables). For the 560s and 620s I use an inline boom mic, just one cable. So I'm about to sell the 8xx, just can't justify keeping them if I don't use them enough. Finally, I actually don't use them a ton with an amp. For gaming, the steelseries gamedac gen2 I use is good enough, for music my MacBook pro is plenty good enough. My hd8xx really needed an amp a lot of the time, but these I feel like you can get away without one, although it does help at times. sorry for the long message lol. hope this helps
A couple of tracks (Binaural) I use to test headphones are - Max Cooper 'Order From Chaos' (audio version NOT video version on YT Music) & 'Resynthesis'... So I think I'm going to try test these out with those tracks (and others from multiple genres and see if these will be my next purchase to add to my collection... 🤔😏 😎🇬🇧
Why not at least make this headphone sit flat? Since it is close back and manys would consider listening this on the road. To compete with bluetooth headphones they can be a bit more flexible at least

@@sennheiser I love them they are my new main at my desk. They sound fantastic out of the box and are super comfortable. I really needed a good closed back that can stand up to daily use and these are perfect for my use case.
@@exactom6320 We appreciate you!
Looks very interesting. May give them a try soon once I can tear myself away from my beloved 660S2.
i threw some lamb-skin pads on my 560s recently, and they look exactly like the pads pictured here!
sound-wise it made the 560s flabbier in the bottom and slightly reduced in the top, sorta closed sounding...🤔
so, judging by the graphs i already own the 620s !! 😁
😬
Nice, and I kept mine all stock, just paired them with the xDuoo TA26 amplifier. HD 660 S with a single sided cable babyyy!
bought them based on ur review was not dissapointed. overall such an amazing headphone and this is coming from the 6xx..
I've got a collection of 10+ headphones, including Hifiman Arya, for some reason I keep going back to my M50x's that have a pad swap, they just sound correct to me, very comfortable and they go loud. I've yet to find an upgrade, I don't think the HD620S will be even worth buying.
What pads you put on your M50x? WC?
For a cheap closed back I still think the sennheiser hd 280 pro is 🔥
So easy to drive and it sounds great.
I EQ to Harmon Combined. Hence, as long as I can easily EQ it sounds great.
I thought these were boomy as hell at High End Munich - nice to see some confirmation.
I don't know, I'm a long-time owner of the 660S, and to me when I heard the 620S and 660S side-by-side playing the same classical tracks, the difference was night and day in favor of the 660S. The timbre of strings was just off on these.
its because you're used to the 660s.
@@MrNoipe nah. I also have ZMF Bokeh and Sundara, both of which sound much better with classical music than these.
the 660S are more expensive, so how can you compare them? why not compare the most expensive headphones to the 620S too at this point?
@@shellow4143 They're pretty close in price and similar headphones in the same line. It's worth comparing them.
I had it for almost 3 weeks, good headset
Thank you for detailed review. DMS is really funny 😂😂
How do they compare to the audeze maxwell? I'm tempted to go with sennheiser because they have always been the most comfortable headphones for me personally
We're here for ya!
Put your hands over the sides of the 600.. sound changes.
I 'Tweak' and save each EQ setting for each of my listening gear - HD600, PXC550-II, Meze 99 Neo, Sony CD9000ST and couple of others (one of the other great things about 'PowerAmp'... 👍
😎🇬🇧
I thought about these, but that mid bass bump means they're unusable 4:24 without EQ. I ended up letting go of my LCD-X for same reason, am tempted by Yamaha HPH MT8 as they're much flatter in FR response and do sub bass properly.
Edit: I've since watched / read a couple more reviews, and seen some different measurements, especially in the mid and low bass, so decided to give them a punt.
As an aside, how do you measure timber? Are you sure it's not just a distortion feature.
Still have the momemtum 3 you reviewed a while back still my go to closed back and even more comfortable than iems for me.
Please provide Resolve's EQ profile for this so we can try it for ourselves
Well, looks like it's something close to a Q1 2 dB@20 Hz, Q2 -3 dB@100 Hz, Q3 1.5 dB@230(?) Hz, Q2 -2.5 dB@500 and Q1.5 1 dB@1600(?) Hz.
Cool stuff! I will definitely try them out. Honestly, I agree, it’s so challenging to design good closed-back headphones, and so few companies have even attempted to do so. Now that Sennheiser has entered the ring with a competitive offering, things are sure to heat up. 😊
PS: If you’re listening, Sennheiser, the plastic construction is great, very light.
I like the 598 CS, but I've been trying to eye a headphone with better technicalities and also won't have earpads that will dissolve really fast
this seems pretty solid at its price point
It is imo, I've been loving mine. Sure they're not the most timbrely accurate, but they're seriously fun and the wow factor potential is huge depending on what you listen to. Closed backs are never going to be perfect, so something as solid as this is a win in my books.
@@Lost1ntheSauc3 Wait until you hear them balanced 🥹
@@Lost1ntheSauc3 Depending on what you listen to? Like what?
@@iii___iii I'm finding that they're great for more 'spatial' music. Ambient/electronic and expirimental music really go well with it. Acoustic stuff can sound a bit off because of the closed back nature, but it really depends on the song. I've been blown away by them more often than expected, certain tracks just hit!
@@Lost1ntheSauc3 Thanks, i was wondering how these headphones would sound with rock or metal music
I’ve been looking for a closed. This better be good …
These would work well with a DX180 player? Also, lately i wear glasses, do you think this will affect the position on my head and also the sound listening?
I'm looking forward to pad rolling these when I get them! Living in Australia, close backs with leather ear pads can make my ears get sweaty and uncomfortable. What type of attachment system do the ear cups use for the pads?
I tried them with Velour Pads off the HD560S and it removes all the bass below 300hz
@@CammyFi ah damn that's a shame! Maybe micro suede would handle the bass loss better

@@Asturia I don't know, I never heard early units but I like this one. It is hard to find reviews for even the original. Mine is super comfy, decent isolation, and a bit bassy with a warmer signature I'd say, don't know if that lines up with what they were.

I can't say I agree with dms on the matter, bass does not seem lacking to me at all. Its tight and punchy to my ears, quite satisfying.
@@Lost1ntheSauc3 It all depends on your head-shape and seal. Closed backs vary a ton in this area.
What is the best affordable closed back that is warmish, good dynamics for drums/rock n roll and excellent sub bass. Does such a thing exist?
NDH20 has best isolation of any closed back and nice sub bass, however, of you want Grado-like roaring guitars you're not gonna like it, it's the opposite of that, a bit too withdrawn. Treble is just the right amount. Haven't compared against new Focal but best I can think of under 500.
Akg k371 ticks those boxes.
You place these in your top 5 closed backs… what are the others?
Exactly, I want to know too.
This is my guess based on what I remember DMS praising over the years:
- Dan Clark Aeon Noire
- Dan Clark E3
- Dan Clark Aeon RT (same as Aeon X from Drop)
- Focal Radiance
- Fiio FT1 (budget honorable mention that was released after this video)
I just purchased them yesterday but I have yet to receive it as it still says pre-order but can't wait to hear it as I've been hoping for a closed back HD 600 sound profile even if it doesn't get close to those headphones but has some of it's sonic traits.
How does the Meze 99 Classics compare?
I have the DT770Pro X... I like the sound, but the oval shape of Sennheisers is much more comfy for me. Would these be recommended as a replacement for gaming and music?
how do they compare to the 280 pro or 300 pro for recording in regards to isolation and sound
I would like to see something that looks like a HD 650/600 closed back with dual cable balanced, maybe modular ear cups for making it open or closed? with similar power handling and impedance. Yes I'm German.
review missed a comparison with the 770 Pro X LE :(
I like these, but I have to EQ them to get them to my preference, I use the rock setting on the Apple iPhone EQ and I slightly elevate the bass and treble on my android
How do these compare to the Sennheiser HD569, which was their older closed back headphones.
HD 569 is a great gateway into hifi in a closed format. That said, the HD 620S is a more capable and luxurious headphone for the money from both a sound and build perspective.
@sennheiser Do you agree with DMS that this is also far superior to the HD820 closed back, too?

which one do you suggest beyer dynamic dt 700 pro x or hd620s or beyer dynamic dt 770 pro limited edition ?
The DT770 Pro has a v-shaped sound signature like so many Beyerdynamic headphones and i prefer to use it mostly for gaming because the treble is emphasized and it has good imaging and soundstage for a closed back. I wouldn’t get it if you don’t do gaming but only use it for music, if you do get it make sure to get the 80 ohm version as that is the best version. Haven’t listened to the Sennheiser HD620 so can’t tell you the differences but one thing that is obvious is that the Sennheiser is not v-shaped. The DT700 Pro X is less aggressive than the 770 but i definetly prefer the 770 between the two
Do you think this headphone can be used for professional use such as mixing etc?
I wouldn't go for closed-back design, especially for professional mixing. Neutral sound and spatial positioning plays a huge part for your sound perception.
The setup of the mixing studio also plays a big role... but more importantly the intended space your final product is going to be delivered.
Example, you mix differently for music meant to be played in a theater vs a live soundstage.
I would personally go for an open-back planar magnetic design.... Either the HifiMan Edition XS .... or ... if you have the financial freedom, the Audeze LCD-X.
If you don't have much experience, the HifiMan are a great starting point and very budget friendly :)
You can build your collection from there. There's no golden rule as everyone's ears are different, so make sure you hear them yourself first, before you make a decision.
All the best!
It’d be cool to get that head band with the open back cups 😛
So 560S?
I am still using old trusty AKG K550 mkII + Shanling DAC. I have not found anything more pleasant to wear and better sounding for jazz AND EDM. .
Sennheiser after this interview does not seem even close to high audio quality level I aspire to.
Let me know how wrong I am - but only if you have tried AKG K550 and compared with whatever you think may be better sounding / pleasant to wear for hours...
Then you haven't tried very hard then.
I saw Josh’s video and Sennheiser didn’t seem to like some of his thoughts. I’ve been waiting for this video to see what the 600s guru had to say about them. Speak to us oh wise one, what do you have to say? 🎧
How would you compare it against the NDH20 in terms of sound?
That strange 600-800 Hz transition reminds me of the strangely cuppy sounding K271 MK II
A $200 headphone for $350. Sweet!
Hey that’s not fair! You’re paying 100 bucks for the 6-series name tag. If they were 200, they would have called them 520S
Regular price for the 600 series is 350-400 in most of the world
Hopefully the next closed back by Sennheiser will be better, this one does not look great unfortunately.

I really wish it wasn’t twist lock… but it looks very interesting.
Why's that? Just curious.
@@sennheiser in my case because in the HD 560 s they twist connector don't enter in a single motion you need to find the correct position and twist

Is Focal going to replace the Radiance? If so when and with what . They got rid of it with no comparable in my opinion option in their lineup .
Because the momentum 4 are worse in every conceivable way in terms of sound quality. This isn't rocket science.

To me Wavelet is easier to use than PEACE EQ.
Also, lots of people listen to music in less than ideal conditions. The benefits of the one-click EQ + ANC wins over a regular closed back.
Are the pads swappable?
Yes, solderdude at DIYaudiohaven confirmed in his review that they have the same earpad mounting mechanism as the hd560s and hd569, however using different pads to the original severely distort negatively the frequency response so if you are going to replace them it should be for another pair of the original

The cable change is a bummer.
Yo! What is the GameBoy @3:41????

How is this versus the 560s, if anyone has heard them both?

Hey!
