My husband and I recently bought one of these. I have looked through all the manuals and lots of videos and online resources. Where is the truma water heater access? Specifically, the drain lever?
Look for sticker says low water drain outside on one of sides. Make sure you don’t have hot water on when u drain ! I’m looking up truma myself because I’m having a tech issue. Will let you know asap
Hi, I’m single with 2 small dogs hence I purchased the Thor Rize 18M. Loving it it as you have already stated. Wanted to mention the awning operation. You mentioned you can’t stop it when you press to extend. You can control the increments of length by pressing the extension & then hitting the retraction to stop the further extension. Hence you can have 5 ft of awning if you want. Hope that helps
Hello! I figured it out, it was the wind sensor! My awning either goes all the way out or in. I heard there is a hand crank tucked inside up top I’m going to see for myself!
Water Heater Tank Capacity: 3 g Heated by propane and / or electric. Make sure to set your timers so it warms it up and is hot and ready to go when u need it!
I’ve ordered wow long wait for Canadian delivery. This is just for me and small dog I am planning on getting rid of all the back cushions and making up as single day/night bed leaving set up always so always have bathroom access. I’ve not seen anyone set it up like that for us singles I’ll be using as everyday driving I’ve never seen anyone turning the chairs around I hope that is easy feature
Hoping you would show if sofa could be set up as single day/night bed by removing back cushions This would be very practical for single person Show the sets swivel Can the bike rack be used for attaching storage container instead
Yes the chairs are easy. I usually only turn the passenger chair because I stow stuff in drivers seat to make room! Hope you like yours! So excited for you! We are on the road out west and have so many more stories and info to share soon!
Thanks bruh. Very comprehensive, and answered a couple of questions I had the dealer didn’t touch on. Pickin mine up later this week. I am a little concerned with the location of the generator. But overall this thing looks sweet. Wife and I are looking forward to it.
Thank you so much! Thor sent us a recall that lifted the backend three inches and it installed a thick plate around the generator. We are still careful and mindful at all times when driving however!
We surely talked them down to the breaking point but still paid a lot! They don’t have a lot of leave way room currently my salesman told me the other day when I stopped in to say hey. So popular now they aren’t budging and the price has gone up tremendously since August 2021 when we purchased ours!
Thank you! We are out on the road filming many new adventures! The bed unfortunately keeps having issues. I’m going to add some more support when I get back myself! But it has worked out great at the many camp stops during our month and a half making our way west! Can’t wait to get good internet again to upload our videos! So many stories to share!
How many hours generator or AC on without engine on ? If you know ? I have 5 dogs and I need to leave my dogs insid e van and make sure there’s Ac or heater on for hours.
It runs off your main gas in van, so until your tank is empty. I think they said around a 1/4 tank. 5 dogs?!! We have two we plan on taking. There is an AP you can download to control the AC while away and check temperature inside the van. You can set your generator to turn on during different time frames and or intervals you wish. It works great so far! Five dogs will be one Heck of a road trip for sure! LOL.
I recently found your channel and subscribed. Love your content, I am in the process of watching all of your videos. I have been waiting 3 years to buy a class B Van because manufacturers just haven't made one with everything I would want. FINALLY Thor made this Van it has everything I would want in a class B. I plan on purchasing a Rize 18 M next month and I'm hitting the road full time. My first Mod will be a 3 inch lift, different wheels and BF Goodrich KO2's all the way around, not because I'm going to "offroad" it, but just for clearance on that generator, that is WAY too low to the ground for my tastes. And the BF Goodrich KO2's just for durability, strength, and puncture resistance going down gravel roads and fire trails.
I should know right? LOL. I thought about using the IPAD with the mount the van came with , but Amy convinced me to get the TV. I used part of the mount instead of putting in new holes in the wall and it worked great. I will probably raise it a little higher in the near future, when we use the sink it gets some spray on it. I cover it or extend it out when using the sink for dishes. I will be putting out a new video I did and provide you with the details!
Nice to see the actual use, and feedback! We went from a 5th wheel to a Travato, and traveled for 9 months. We loved it, and are now thinking about buying one of these. Tip for the stainless steel refrigerator: travel magnets. :) Is the AC loud?
Thanks for sharing! I don't think the AC is loud outside or inside when running personally. it works well that is for sure! We started with a 17 foot RPOD, then 27 Foot Coachman, now the Van. The Van is our favorite! Happy New Year!
It worked great! We try limit it to emergencies or what people call going #1! Lol. Not sure how to best answer that one! The cassette toilet worried me but after using it a bunch and understanding the operating process it really is hassle free and it so nice to have aboard!
Just 3 feet longer and you get a WHOLE lot more living space.in a class B. What you have here would be great for one person, but not 2 or more in my opinion. Look at a 2022 Travato KL or a Cross Trek Zion SKR and better yet, a Zion Slumber for 3-4 people.
We liked the Sequence. The extra four feet is nice. We went with the Scope which is very roomy and the price tag was a lot lower! The parking and maneuvering is excellent in the Scope. We fit in everywhere with ease!
Hey, nice review. I am about to get the Rize 18M. Do you have any regrets on ypur 18M? Anything I should look out for? I wonder how the tank capacity works out for you
Thanks! We have no regrets. This is the van for us, the right model and set up! We did have some factory issues and Thor has been great to get the parts to our service location to get the repairs done. We have a video coming up shortly addressing this exact topic!
Thanks for a great description on your rig . One question does the slider door window have a cover for night like the windshield and side windows ? Been following you guys for awhile . Thanks for sharing your adventures, looking forward in seeing more . Aloha
Thank you. Yes, it has one shaped like the oval window on the sliding door. It has magnets inside the material along the edges that help it stay up. Easy put up and take down.
NIce detailed description. We were looking at these Class B vans. Can you tell me the difference between the thor scope 18M and the thor rize 18M? Thanks. By the way when you are taking video's please keep the camera stable instead of panning back and forth. It makes the viewer dizzy.
Here is what I saw on Thor website: “What are the Differences Between Scope and Rize? Rize and Scope are what we call “sister products.” This means these explorer vans have the same floor plans, features, and specs but have unique interior decor options.”
I’m going to be retiring soon and something like this is exactly what I’m looking for. I’d definitely do a lift because the clearance is so low with the generator. I also wonder about access to the generator for maintenance. Other than that, it’s a really cool little camper van.
Thanks for watching and Congrats on retirement! It sure is fun so far for me! Actually stay pretty busy! The clearance did worry us, Thor sent us a factory recall and we had the dealership do it. It raised the back end three inches thus raising the generator! The recall also put a thick metal plate around it. So far so good, still we are mindful!
Hey there! Thanks for sharing your new chapter in the Thor M18. We saw one at an RV show yesterday and fell in love with it. Just curious, what is your real world gas mileage looking like? I think we may sell the trailer and go VanLife!
I just bought one of these, taking delivery next week. A big learning curve coming up. I found your video very helpful and many of my questions were answered. Thank-you! It’s kind of funny, in all the videos I’ve watched, no one can quite figure out how to use the long, narrow cushions 🤔
Glad it was helpful! Happy New Year! They are used when you extend the couches, they are grooved on the ends and tuck into the bed fitting along the side of the van! I will demonstrate in an upcoming video Idea I have!
May I ask how many hours generator or ac last ? I have 5 dogs and make sure they have ac in summer and heater in winter time when I’m away …. So very important how many hours last
Great Question! WE have two dogs we will start bringing along a lot more as well! We use and AP and have a camera inside to watch the dogs. The AP allows you to control the generator. You can also set it to turn on at different times or intervals if you wish. I believe they will do just fine! Five dogs! Oh man! That is a fun road trip! It uses the gas your vehicle does, so when it runs out it will stop eventually, so make sure you have a full tank before camping! I think we were told til maybe 1/4 tank is left in Van? I will find out for sure and put in upcoming video!
I'm really interested in this model but I have seen so many people commenting on the under carriage generator being positioned too low and general poor quality. Have you had any issues?
Thanks for you comments. We had a couple scrapes but mainly it was the driver not paying attention pulling off the road with a dip or something. We try to be extra cautious. Thor just notified us and we had installed a recall with a protective plate and springs. Need to test it out, get some pictures of what the actual recall looks like to compare what the dealer put on ours to make sure accurate. I will show it off in upcoming video I have made. Happy New Year!
The panel we have only tops our chassis battery and van battery off. I know some of the plugs up front seem to need generator power, and some in back don't. I plan on doing more research on this topic and finding out. I will be putting out a video about this topic soon. Thanks for your comment, Happy New Year 2022!
I like the setup and rig; however I read several comments from buyers about low quality materials and things breaking like the bathroom door and generator just to name a couple. The clearance with the generator sitting below is not safe and it does need to be raised higher (will the dealer do that?).....Thank you for the video.
Thor puts the recalls on their main website. I check there often. They sent us a letter and someone else also notified me of a generator recall. I had it done at the dealership. it looks like a thick metal plate on the front, they said something about adding springs to it also. we have hit it on the road a couple times but only when pulling off somewhere we probably shouldn't have, lol. I am going to do a video coming up to show everyone all the things we found should be addressed by Thor for future buyers. They are actually approving to get some of the things fixed!
First things first, I love the 136, turns on a dime, front wheel drive, can eek out 19 mpg if you can keep it 65 and under. The promaster RAM is made in Mexico and the reliability is sadly not so great. Next up I love the wet bath design and the kitchen. The Bed / couch looks like a complete failure and pain to make up EVERY day, and the cushions look poorly made and uncomfortable... a good nights sleep is like #1 on my list, and that is NOT a full bed, you seem like a big guy. I think the width of that bed is like 47" and a full size bed is 54". So that gives you like 23" per person, NO way... Maybe 47" would be good for ONE person. Not for two. Ok, next, would be the cassette toilet, NOPE. Need a black tank or at least a toilet to separate the pee into the grey tank. Toilet and holding capacity is #2 on my list. I'm just a single dude and I can't see myself going into restrooms with a 5 gallon cassette toilet.... I've heard a TON of problems from Thor quality sadly being one of the WORST in the RV world. So. I'm hoping your experience is better. Gonna follow you just to see how you like it! Thanks for the video! Lots to like just, some major misses in my book.
Thanks for your honesty. Sounds like this may not be the van for you, lol. For us it fits the bill in every aspect! Thanks for watching! I haven’t had any issues maneuvering the van and / or driving it down dirt, paved, or highway type roads.
Great job. Thanks for a tour. Cheers from Poland
From Poland? Amazing! Thanks so much
How is your RV holding on 🤔🤔any issues
Going good. Dealing with the heater now! Always something
How challenging did you find the cassette toilet?
I didn’t like the idea at first. Now it’s routine and super easy and super quick! I don’t mind it at all and would suggest it actually
That refrigerator is awesome!
It is surprisingly big, lots of room inside and a good size freezer as well!
Hi, I’m single with 2 small dogs hence I purchased the Thor Rize 18M. Loving it it as you have already stated. Wanted to mention the awning operation. Thank you so much for this van tour! You did a terrific job; very thorough and I learned a lot from you.
Thank you so much! Hope you stick with us and go Travel!
what about filling the water tank? Closed valve inside under the bench and also one under the vehicle. Why did is all empty out?
We have fixed issue, probably operator error! It has been working great!
Thanks for the demonstration.
What's the price?
Our price was lower than they run for now. It went up a lot since we purchased in August 2021!
Great video info
How is the water heated , solar electric not propane
Water Heater Tank Capacity: 3 g
Heated by propane and / or electric. Make sure to set your timers so it warms it up and is hot and ready to go when u need it!
whats the mpg and how many gallons
We have been out west for a month and a half all over different terrains! It has been 15.9 miles to gallon. The gas prices are crazy out west though!
I’ve ordered wow long wait for Canadian delivery. This is just for me and small dog I am planning on getting rid of all the back cushions and making up as single day/night bed leaving set up always so always have bathroom access. I’ve not seen anyone set it up like that for us singles

have you ever had awning issues....ie wont open?
Yes. The sensor gave me issues forcing awning to close but I figured it out, no issues since!
Any back camera? Thx.
Yes, it has a back up camera. NO other cameras came with ours, you can have them added like we plan on doing so we can see all the way around!
I bought a Rize last weekend. What is the difference with the Scope?
Floor plans. The name. Not much else! Congrats on ur Van purchase!
I really like this RV. I am thinking about getting one at the end of the year.
Can’t go wrong! We love the model!
I bought the same van! Can you do a video on storage and how you organize the van?
Great idea!
How much off MSRP were you able to get? If you don't mind me asking
We surely talked them down to the breaking point but still paid a lot! They don’t have a lot of leave way room currently my salesman told me the other day when I stopped in to say hey. So popular now they aren’t budging and the price has gone up tremendously since August 2021 when we purchased ours!
Hi. We are closing in on a deal now. Any last minute advice?
Great Video How’s the bed working out I like everything except the bed on this model.I just test drove one today 😁
Thank you! We are out on the road filming many new adventures! The bed unfortunately keeps having issues. I’m going to add some more support when I get back myself! Nice tour. I just bought a Scope 18M also.
Awesome! Are you loving it or what?
@@TatesTravel I would love it if I could go somewhere warmer. It's 0 degrees here today.

I was gonna trade in my 2500 Siri for that one what do u thank
Is that a truck?
Hey Markis, in one of your videos I saw that you installed a tv. What kind did you get and how many inches?
