  • In HS20, I'll be showing you the old school way of playing the 7b9 chord and also a more modern version that we can have fun with by moving up in minor 3rds to create some nice sounds. I'll also give you a few examples of some standards where they show up.

      @@chrisjuergensen I always wanted you to talk about substitution and superimposition. Such as when you would use a 7b9 chord, say for diminished at the 7th degree of a diatonic major scale etc...or when you can sneak it in there for added colour and tension say at the 2nd degree by swapping the dorian chord (m7/m6)for this more advanced sound...something like that would be very interesting to me, and other such complex chords that can be used over other scale degrees :)
