AT LAST! a guitar teacher that knows what the average players want to learn and then shows them clearly and without fuss. I follow your site avidly.
Thx for that.
Definitely one of the best teachers on TH-cam.
Many thanks!
funny thing is, every video I visit there's someone saying the same thing...
agree.. nice teaching 👍
Agreed
Diminished chords are a great fit for the blues! Transition chords!
I love using diminished runs after the IV, when heading to the V or back to the I.
Corey.... you’re appreciated! You teach w/ ease. Great approach. Playing is tastier than a 4 course meal.
thx so much!
Not sure what I enjoyed the most... The lesson or that vintage Epi 335!!
Such a good lesson. It's rare that an excellent player is also an outstanding teacher! you RULE Corey! Greetings. Mordi.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Every time I see one of Cory's vids it makes me reach for my guitar. This diminished lick adds that dimension to me, is a head turner. i am one who needs to add some spice to my licks. i have some of Cory's lessons from Truefire and I reckon their the best bang for yr buck.
Great lesson, thanks! I have started trying to introduce a bit of diminished into my playing and I wish Inseen this first...you just covered all the stuff in 5 minutes, which took me 3 weeks to work out lol. Nicely done...looking forward to catching more of your lessons. TG
The simplicity of your teaching is just brilliant.
Really appreciate that
Most of the players out there always refrain from locrain mode/ diminished scale, but this seemed so effortless from your side! Thankyou so much man, learnt something new today! 👏
Thanks and hope you enjoy!
What a Beautiful teacher
thx so much
Super lesson and lovely vintage epi!
So glad to find this cat. Great lesson without any extra flash. Exactly like using this technique, as soon as you overdo it the whole vibe is blown. What a great teacher.
Thx for that!
Yep, I made that mistake..
Hey Corey, it’s scott again from Detroit can’t get enough of this stuff can’t get enough of it
WOW ! AMAZING LESSON. REALLY OPENED UP MY MIND! Please continue with diminished blues lessons!
There are other great guitarists on youtube but Corey is one of the very few who combine great playing with great teaching. This particular lesson is a case in point.
Wow, thanks!
Excellent explanation of use of diminished scales in more “regular” solo patterns. Thank you, Corey🎸💫🎶👍👏👏
Very practical and, therefore, valuable. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Always, always learn something new from your lessons.
I love the way this guy plays and what a great teacher
Brilliant Corey!
So glad to hear someone say how there are many facets and techniques to getting the outside sound! Change the rhythm! There are others too. Like the way you think.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is awesome and inspirational. cheers for the knowledge nugget!
Juicy tone, tasty licks! 👌
Awesome spice, thank you Corey.
You are a gifted teacher my friend. And a phenomenal player. Thank you!
Wow, thank you!
This IS the best lesson I avec had !!!! How can Corey not be hundred housands of suscribers ? Thanks a lot Corey. Regards from France
I really think this channel is going to blow up this coming year. Corey if you're listening- you are a fantastic teacher with such great content- it will reach the tipping point and just click.
I truly appreciate that. As long as people are benefitting and enjoying the content, I’ll press on!
From your mouth to God’s ears lol! In all seriousness, I really appreciate it and I’m enjoying the ride. Thanks for coming along!
@@coreycongilio , humble ans so talented ! Do not change anything 🥰
Such a great lesson. Thanks Corey.
My pleasure!
Great lesson as always. You are so good at communicating the ideas you present. Thanks.
I appreciate that!
I am very proud of you friend much respect cookie
Thx my friend! 🙏🏻
Gotta give it to you Corey, you are one hell of a teacher. Great video. Thanks man.
Appreciate that
I second all the complements about this guy. Supurb player and outstaning teacher. This is an obligatory subcription for anyone interested in getting better at guitar!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks; This lesson does'nt diminish me in no way what so ever !!
This is really well done
Don't know how I missed this one? Love ur playing and I will learn this solo! Thanks for this tab! U play crazy great blues but few tab examples this involved! Got ur play blues by yourself love it!
Thx so much, Rodney!
I was going to say it but @Grey418 said it almost exactly below! I've done deep dives previously and ended up totally lost and in a dark place (you can probably guess where I mean!), but Corey has done just what you need to start! I tried peppering solos with dim and Alt scales, with sub-optimal results (!), which worked ok-ish over jazz basslines but too outside for I IV V blues. Walk, don't run! Following this lesson I quickly sounded miles better, thank you Corey! I'm very subscribed!!
Thx for that!
perfect place to start, Thanks Corey
Any time!
Thank you.
This is gold Corey, thank you for kept it basic. Kudos to you for making the lesson easy to follow! (3:25 arpeggio sample)
I was able to expand my lead lines instantly & found other arpeggios. Thx Corey
Fantastic!
Great lesson. Thanks, Corey.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks, you made it so easy to understand and practice. I have tried before to apply the diminished scale, but at the end of the day I seldom use it in a real situation. This video encourages me to use it more, in this simple way you teach.
Glad it helped!
wow that man is so cool
Very good lesson thanks
Looks like i'm in for a long night of instructional videos, another gem thank you so much !
Corey your teaching style is very cool I like how you dabble with outside playing and come back to your safety net! very cool!
Nicely done! I love the short lessons and it’s great to see your subscriber count growing.
Thanks so much!
Love this video! I learned alot!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great lesson man Thanks
Great video on the diminished approach to the blues context without turning it into a jazz song. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very alluring notes! As a guitar composer for book trailers about comics seeking inspiration, I like the modeling of playing melodic lines!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Merry Christmas!!! with much luv and all best wishes for 2022 to you and fly., God bless......
Same to you!
Please post a follow up of this video would love to learn how to get that sound more in my blues 🔥❤️
Best lessons on planet ;) small ideas with very good explanation 'how to use it' for players who want to improove in small steps. No overloading and no licks which shine only at high speed. So you can take the guitar and play. And learn music theory by the way.
That’s very kind of you!
Fantastic tone!!!
Thx!
Subscribed straight away. Explained very well compared to how others have tried to.
Thx so much!
@@coreycongilio i was watching the same diminished principles from Josh Smith this morning, however, but your explanation had ligh bulbs going on in my head. You made it easier to understand. Keep up the great work.
@@jimtalltheislandbrothers6639 Glad to hear it! thanks so much!
your channel is a holy place love your vids
Ah, thanks so much!
Great lesson great sound
Hey thx. Glad you enjoyed!
Best lesson on using diminished licks in blues on youtube right here.
thx so much!
@@coreycongilio Your channel is a real goldmine, and I also just found all of your courses through your website....this'll keep me busy for a few years :)
@@ChyeaBroski That's great to hear and, there's lots more on the way!
Super! Thanks for the lesson!
Glad you liked it!
Corey, I too play a Epiphone Casino, and use the diminished sound preceding the 4th !
the diminished shape (D7 triangle on top three strings) is also in second phrase of the intro to red house I guess, also used in need your love so bad and drown my own tears but slides up three frets each time to add colour. loving these lessons
Great starter for playing outside . Ive struggled with this idea, baby steps thanks for the lesson. love the TrueFire lessons also.
Glad you enjoyed it and thank for the support!
Espectacular, felicitaciones !!!
That Epiphone sounds amazing
Thanks mate, that was really good. Easy to understand and plus I borrowed a couple licks off you. That’s a great point you made about playing outside..it’s about rhythm as well as note choice.
Really have to give you kudos for the production quality of your videos. The lighting, guitar tones, mix and the spoken parts are excellent. Could be a lesson in it self for folks doing this. I don't think I am alone when I say that I have become rather fickle....with all the content available I can be... lol. Its like the tale of A&R men who judge an artist or song in the first 2-3 seconds...the thought being if the production sucks so will the content/song/demo. Keep it up bro!
Ha! I appreciate that. I’ll keep plugging away!
hi !
that´s the stuff we need !!!
Sweet! thx for watching
Exactly what the doctor ordered. Thx!!!
Great lesson, discovered this channel a week ago .... really great practical, useable lessons. Teaching guitar just reached a new stage of evolution. Subscribed.
Wow thx so much!!
Amazing.
Glad you think so!
Great stuff man. Really digging your style and way of teaching!
I appreciate that!
I need that lick!! Thanks Corey. That scale is mellow!!
Jimmy Herring is a master at this

Hey thx! Always more on the way!
Great info!!
AWESOME..............
Thx!
Bang on lesson here! Definitely a clever and tasty way to toss a diminished lick in a blues progression. Love that Epiphone too!
glad you enjoyed!
I have a tendency to get too crazy with trying to go outside so this was a great lesson in reigning that stuff in. I really like how you explained adding in rhythmic interest at the same time as bringing in diminished sounds. I hadn't thought of that before. Thanks.
Oh nice. Glad to offer a different view. Best of luck!
TQ sir!
Awesome lesson that will change my playing for life even if I am 49 and play only blues scales. My Best Christmas gift !!!! Thanks a lot Corey 🥰. Merry Christmas. Kindest regards from France 🇫🇷. Belo
That's great to hear! Enjoy!
First exposure to Corey. I will definitely be coming back. Good stuff.
Awesome thx!
Thanks I just saw this and had learned that if you move that shape up three frets you get this cool neo classical sound but how do I put to a key? Well I love sharing my 12 bar blues and any licks to help I want to know and this video just put the diminished arpeggio in my tool kit. Any guitarist knows that’s a gift 🎁 that I will get to use over an over. Thanks 🙏
Great lesson your an awesome teacher Corey thanks!
I appreciate that!
Nice,as usual
Superb lesson and great playing. Cheers
Just what I was after. Thank so much mate.
Glad it helped
I wish I could give you more thumbs up. What a great lesson, in no small part to your super tasteful playing.
Appreciate that!
Let's see... Great playing, Great tone, and Great teaching. Pretty Spiffy. Thanks!
Thank you kindly!
Could/would you use diminished in turnarounds and or as a leading chord tone to resolve back to the I chord? Love the content! Some of the best lessons I’ve seen have been on your channel. Come on people get this guy more subscribers!!!
I wouldn’t personally as the chord changes happen quickly in the turnaround. Thx for the kind words!
I would definitely try a diminished lick over the 5 resolving to the 1 (before the turnaround). Assuming key of A I assume an Ab diminished arpeggio would work really well resolving to the A chord (one chord). I do this all the time and it sounds good to me :)
Great lesson Corey!! Thanks for sharing PDFs....... blues rules again!!!! Big hugh from Spain💪💪🔝🔝🎸🔥🙌🤘
My pleasure!
Awesome lesson there Corey. Im a guitar teacher myself and some of my students are gonna absolutely love this!
Tasteful lesson. ‘luv chewin’ on a diminished chord.
Haha, thanks!
Fantastic.......just found you....I'm a fan!!!
Awesome! Thx!
Very interesting! Will definitely use it at next band rehearsal. Thanks Mate.
Great! Go for it
You are my first subscription ever to youtube 🤣🤣. Great content; the hard work you put on it is noted. Thanks!
Love your tone!
Wow, thank you!
