The teazle is a top notch idea. I will get some for my garden feeding station for winter, I will get some plant pots with dirt stick them in there, put some sunflower hearts on it. Thanks for the great idea Mike. Top notch video. Also might buy a hide for your website for it. ❤
I have really been enjoying your videos and learning so much. Goldfinches in my country seem to enjoy the plane tree’s flowers. They are a velvety kind of flower (I don’t know what it would be properly called in English) which surprised me very much as I’d thought that there is nothing in there in terms of sustenance. This a new world of knowledge for me and I have been reading and trying to teach myself as well as try to take pictures. Thank you very much for your videos, your work is truly appreciated.

Lovely looking birds. I'm not familiar with the name of the plant but I immediately recognised Teasel once you showed how you use it. I didn't realise what an important food source it is for European birds. The European Goldfinch was introduced to Australia in the 1860s. Originally restricted to urban areas, the European Goldfinch has successfully moved out into country areas of south-eastern Australia, including Tasmania.
Can I ask how old is old when we're talking about nijer? I bought some but am keeping for the winter as they prefer sunflower hearts in summer for some reason.
Very interesting Mike. Particularly your knowledge of the different bird's behaviour and choices of feeding. A couple of questions about your field monitor. 1). What type and size battery do you use. 2). Fully charged, how long will it power the monitor.
It is the battery out of a Canon D70 camera. I would expect it to last about 2 hours, but have never put that to the test. I will switch it off while waiting for a subject to arrive.
Thanks for the “heads up” on the nijer seed. You’re right, but I had not realised it was the age of the seed. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Many thanks MIke, Wonderful video.

Wonderful stuff Mike. Interesting set up and conjurers nice memories from my childhood. Greetings from Australia.
Excellent video, I did pretty much the same thing a few years ago and got some lovely shots.

Hard to know. In the past I bought a large sack. Now I only buy 2kg at a time so it is all gone within a month.

Does Em1x focuses 1080 p slomo or manual?
It needs manual focus.
Funny this video should pop up this morning as I've just been doing the very same thing..
For slow motion, can’t you first autofocus and then start recording?
Yes and I do so with normal speed video too as AF is less efficient in video mode.
