Wow this was an inspiring and refreshing documentary. I'm a 22 year old boxing fan. The first fight I ever saw was Roy Jones v Bernard Hopkins. Now I'm a huge fan of the likes of Andre Ward, Rigondeaux, Terrance Crawford, Erislandy Lara, Danny Jacobs, and Tevin Farmer. But something certainly must be done to tell the stories, carry the legacies, and reintroduce the plight and personalities of all these legendary champions - not just in boxing, but across all sports.
They are truly kings and pioneers in their own right, not just influencing sports, but breaking barriers and molding an environment which allows for the disenfranchised to have opportunity today.
We still have ways to go in making positive change in this world, but knowing the history of our pioneers can be an igniting catalyst that will inspire us to make the changes for tomorrow.
I will challenge myself to channel the resiliency of these legends and find my inner champion in all battles of my life and my community at large.
Thank you for sharing. God bless.

Over unlimited rounds with today's training and nutrition giving him more muscle due to those things over 20-30 rounds, his superior defensive style and awkwardness and stamina on his day would've ground down just about any heavyweight in history, as he was so hard to hit on the chin.

"lackluster" - Tommy Burns? He gets "a couple of fights". This is clearly the opinion of Boxing idiots. Tommy Burns was the shortest Heavyweight in history at 5'8 and succesfully defended his title 11 times in 2 years, which was more than Jefferies did in his 6 years, or Johnson did in his 7 year reign. He was not by any means "lackluster"!!

blacks were ok by the American public and its boxing fraternity in the lower weight classes but the colour bar was mostly held up in the HW DIVISION then JACK JOHNSON chased TOMMY BURNS all over the world to finally get a shot at BURNS HW TITLE in Australia in 1908 / 12 / 26 to 1915 / 04 / 05 so he held the HW title for 6yrs 8 months
and even JACKSON JOHNSON a black fighter himself held onto the COLOUR BAR
Refusing to fight black fighters in a title defence
as the HW champion he flaunted and broke the whole rules regarding white America at the time a black HW CHAMPION OF THE WORLD AT THE TIME WAS A NO NO
But messing with white women was a no no off the scale he JOHNSON broke every rule in the book but didnt care he lived his life as he chose to and revaled in it
he traveled with white women even prostitutes and crossed county lines and the charge was transporting women across state lines with them so the American establishmene went after him 10 fold and they basically chased him out of the country and when he came back he had to fight WILLARD and lost
Now as we know the HW champion is meant to mean you are the baddest man on the planet ant the HW title is held in total esteem as JACK JOHNSON was a nightmare to the AMERICAN PUBLIC & THE AMERICAN ESTABLISHMENT
It took another 22 yrs for JOE LOIUS to get a HW title shot in 1937 against JIM BRADDOCK even then because JOHNSON had let a terrible black legacy or a black HW
JOE LOIUS was issued with the ultimate set of rules to paint a good image to the AMERICAN establishment and white America
NO WHITE WOMEN AS IN BEING PHOTOGRAPHED WITH THEM
NO EMOTIONS AFTER FIGHTS WINS OR STOPPAGGES
LOIUS HAD A MULTIPLE OR NAMES WHICH BASICALLY WERE DETRIMENTAL REGARDING HIS COLOUR
    THE NAMES WERE THE
    1 THE BLACK MENACE
    2 THE DARK DESTROYER
    3 THE GOLDEN PUMA
4 THE BROWN BOMBER WHICH STUCK WITH LOUIS HIS WHOLE BOXING CAREER AND IN LIFE
Even then JOE LOIUS may subconsiously held up the colour bar as in reaity the was no money in fighting black fighters in 25 successful defence JOE LOIUS only fought to black fighters JOHN LEWIS & JERSEY JOE WALCOT
but to be fair back in the day there wasnt big money to be earnt with 2 black fighters fighting each other ?
To be totally honest because of JACK JOHNOSON unwittingly
JOE LOIUS got shafted at the negotionating table to get a title shot at BRADDOCK
BRADDOCK got $300,000 purse and 10 % of the promoters net profits from promoting loius over the next 10 yrs
JOE LOUIS MADE 25 SUCCESSUL DEFENCES OVER NEARLY 12 YRS his promoter was a white man called MIKE JACOBS
Just as an example a boxing promoter can take a maximum of 33.3 % of a fighters purse now that was only JOE LOIUS
So from JOE LOIUS 1ST DENFENCE TO HIS Thommy Far the 10 yrs were up against Jersey Joe Walcot that was 23 successful defences JOE LOIUS netted
well i was going thru every JOE LOIUS FIGHT AND RING EARNING AS CHAMPION AND I GOT PISSED OFF HA HA
So i googled how much did JOE LOIUS MAKE it was so much easier it was $48 million so say $44 million as world champion for 10 yrs so his promoter would have got 33.3 % of that so say $14 million 652 thousand and ooo
BRADDOCK WOULD HAVE POCKETED ABOUT $1,465,200 IN 1O YRS from MIKE JACOBS SITTING ON HIS ARSE LOL
But as JOE LOIUS PLAYED THE RIGHT GAME HE PAVED THE WAY fFOR FUTURE BLACK HW CHAMPIONS OF ABOUT 80 WORLD HW CHAMPIONS ACROSS THE BOARD THERE HAVE BEEN SINCE JOE LOIUS 60 BLACK HW CHAMPIONS WITH ABOUT 16 BLACK LINEAR WORLD CHAMPIONS AND 4 WHITE LINEAR CHAMPIONS
so things have progressed an awful lot because of JOE LOUIS

Currently there are no American heavyweight champions.
But when you think about it and forget about weak chinned Tommy 'the Duke' Morrison, who briefly held one of those alphabet titles.
There hasn't been a real white American World Heavyweight Champion since Rocky Marciano retired in 1956.

Andy Ruiz & Deontay Wilder are the last American heavyweight champs.

WBO still counts as a world title, so technically speaking Tommy Morrison is the last white American to win a Heavyweight championship.

Joe Louis' betrayal of Marshal Miles ,and his surrender of 10% of all his future purses to Bradock to get the fight with Bradock. LOUIS didn't deserve the match because he had just been knocked out by Max Schmelling, who should have gotten the fight. So,the country used Louis.Apparantly Louis' sense of principle ment nothing. And,Louis had the nerve to denigrate Ali who was , at least arguably , a better fighter and without question a far better man.

Louis was 7-0 after losing to schmeling and before Braddock...and how was Ali a better man than Joe Louis?

Is like baseball ⚾️, the world champions, there’s no such thing, they have never played with no one around the world, they always play against the US states, that be NY Yankees against the LA Dodgers, and whoever wins are consider the world’s champions, but how can that be??? They’ve never played like for instance the NY Yankees against Italy 🇮🇹, Germany 🇩🇪 etc etc, so they cannot be considered the world’s champion, now, boxing 🥊 is a totally different story, they fight with whoever is considered the best challenger around the world, so I wish that they stop saying that baseball ⚾️ are the world champions

We must train to fight properly to speak for "black." This is yet prevented, free speech tied to it, because the predicate acts delivery system method not only was not overcome by our founders; they have their identities self-valued stolen in our faces at the same time, as well. All flank, then swell. I teach you well box sings.... I tell you things....

Hey kid, by your logic Marciano was the greatest, besting Floyd with a record of 50-0.. And we all know that isn't the case. Floyd is/was a coddled fighter who even payed out other boxers to take a dive--remember Victor Ortiz? Also, to communicate through the safety of hiding behind the internet in the rudely arrogant manner you do exposes a weakness about you. You're clearly compensating for your cowardice in the real world. I hope you respond to me.
