Ricky Gervais, legend!
I would say Bill Hicks is what's missing here. No list of the greatest, no matter how short, can be complete without him. I think he and Dave Chappelle are the two greatest geniuses of stand up comedy ever to grace a stage. There are many great mentions here, including Bill Burr himself who is very gifted, but these two are in their own division.
Bill is one of those people that could just talk for half and hour about nothing of substance yet you’d still find him funny, all his podcasts are practically like comedy bits in themselves
Bill Hicks died way too young. Sorely missed, what a mind.
RIP Patrice. I still watch his youtube shows.
Katt Williams "Pimp Chronicles" was legendary
Facts
The Mount Rushmore of stand-up comedians is Rickles, Pryor, Carlin, and Chappelle. The rest aren't even close. Cosby, Carson, Dangerfield, Shandling, Seinfeld, Burr, Katt, Hart are all legends. Remember, even Bob Newhart had a dozen comedy albums and won Grammys for his stand-up.
The problem with ranking comedy greats is comedy is subjective everybody has different styles, some tell jokes, others tell stories, there is clean and dirty and dark and light, physical, satirical, sarcastic and one liners, so it's a very difficult to judge the art form. So maybe we just have hall of fame or better yet a pantheon of comedy gods and everyone you mentioned would deserve a spot not to mention the ones not written so far like norm macdonald, Peter kay, Lee Evans and what about tv comedians like monty python, two Ronnie's or benny hill or cinema comedians buster keaton, Chaplin and laurel and hardy all are legends of making people laugh.
Robin Williams, too. He was so good
Eddie Murphy!
I never found Rickles to be funny at all. Pryor, Carlin, Dangerfield and Henny Youngman are my four picks to be on the Mount Rushmore of stand up comedians.
Okay youtube Dictator
Billy Connelly should be up there
Billy Connolly.
Mitch Hedberg and Sam Kinnison, you’re damn straight. But Don Rickles is the tip of the spear with Richard Pryor and Robin Williams are not too far behind. I miss all these guys. Ralphie May left us way too soon and I loved him so much.
robin williams was a terrible stand up - he was one of the biggest joke thiefs of all time
Chappelle is no surprise to me. I think Bill's reaction to the question is telling, as if to say, "Duh, Dave is a given!"
Gallagher , Robin Williams and Redd Foxx
Wait a minute! Did you ask me my top 5 comedians of all time? Or 500?!
Bill Burr is a freaking BEAST! When I first found him on youtube I was hooked watching the reaction videos. But then there was a reaction call "Bill Burr talks about black people." I thought OH SHIT!!!
Then I found out that his beautiful wife is black. That whole set was amazing!!!
Dude, Robin Williams!!!!!!
Jim Gaffigan, Brian Regan, Nate Bargatze, Fluffy, and many treasures I've also found on DryBar Comedy.
Can't believe Bill Hicks didn't even mentioned.
W C Fields and his comedic love child Don Rickles
Jethro. R.I.P one of the best british comedians that ive ever seen.
Eddie Griffin belongs in that list of legends. His specials are so intuitive and stomach-hurting funny.
not your list bud
Katt Williams, too & the late, great, Bernie Mack......
Eddie Murphy ! One the best ever !
A Legend ! 👍
British stand up, don't forget Bill Bailey. I'm still laughing about the pope's doorbell!
Never forget his Royal Variety Performance in 2012. He's a musical genius, who also happens to be funny.
Enter Sandman on bicycle air horns or Kraftwerk doing the Hokey Cokey! Absolute legend!
Joe Rogan? He didn’t sell that shit at all!!! Lol listen to his voice. Granted, I think Rogan is great at interviewing and funny as fuck. But best comedians of all time? Cmon man
I don't know about that. He's been making outstanding specials for like 20 years, each better than the last. At some point he's going to get brought up in the GOAT argument.
@@atp180 no
Frankie Boyle got a mention! Yes!
He forgot Norm, he loved him and said it a bunch of times
Really? Forget Robin Williams?
Just joking. Robin is one of the greatest no doubt. But nobody gets everybody on such a list when put in a spot like that.
Greg Giraldo. Bill Hicks
*TRUTH*
Never really cared for *Giraldo,* but what about *Hicks??*
Also, what about *Daniel Tosh* / *Anthony Jeselnik* & *Jimmy Carr??*
@@zachariahlloyd6043 Jeselnik is just too good man,
@@zachariahlloyd6043 people just didnt like that Greg cuz was smarter than them on dam near every topic
Robin Williams, John Pinnette & Johnathan Winters belong in the top 5 (50?). Carlin was my #1
In America Sam Kinison definitely in England Sean Lock
Russell Peter's first special was outstanding. ( now not so much.)
Don't forget Ralphie May also.
Fluffy,.... Fluffeeeeeee (Gabriel Iglesias for those who don't know.
Bill Hicks.
What about bill Hicks .. he was a legend.
My favorite English Comedian is Eddie Izzard.

Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Billy Connolly
Eddie Izzard, Steve Martin, Robin Williams, George Carlin, Gallagher.
f*&$ gallagher. on like 10 different levels.
@@DanielBoonelight Go on. Tell us how you really feel!! 🤣🤣🤣
@@kimdavid4406 hah. sorry. he was an ass in life, and his act was gimmicks. he isn't in the conversation.
@@DanielBoonelight He was? Sorry to hear that. Yes, it was a gimmick but it was very creative and made people laugh. Laughter is good and doesn't always have to be highbrow. Look at the Three Stooges!! 😆🤷
@@kimdavid4406 yea unfortunately. just google it. many many sources there.
What about Norm Macdonald? I put him above ALL of the above names.
Carlin, Pryor, Gervais, Chappelle (that's the Mt. Rushmore). Burr, Eddie Griffin and Chris Rock as honorable mentions. I used to have Cosby on the Rushmore but he, obviously, had to come down... Waaaaaay down. I'm glad my dad died only knowing Cosby as an idol and not an inmate
How you not gonna say Normal McDonald?! He is probably the most likely you in material, style, cadence and tone...
Norm sucked.
BILL HICKS
George Gobel doing Sampson (still use it today) "What!? Cut ma hair and lose ma strenth?"
Frankie Boyle is a genius
Kinison HAS to be on that list.
..lol..god..I like it when he screams into the microphone...such a genius..
Is nobody going to mention Eddie Murphy?
The question is so off the mark it should be top 20 comedians where you could include Don Rickles, Robin Williams, Redd Foxx, Jonathan Winters Etc.
Robin Williams
It’s just so many!!! It’s impossible!!
Two that I can think of that weren't mentioned were Robin Williams and Billy Connolly
The fact that patrice o'neal isnt the most mentioned comedian, says alot about how far we have fallen..
👎🏽
Bro, chappele is leauges ahead of him 💀
I was hoping someone would mention Patrice O'Neal. He was a master.
@@leegarza3605 would never leave him out, gone way too soon
Patrice was a gem
Jerry Sadowitz, Groucho Marx.
Johnny Winters
Him mentioning Frankie Boyle's roasting audience members is pretty funny (the mermaid story).
Robin Williams come on
Top 100...Lucy!
I've heard Bill shit on Ricky Gervais and once said he believes Jim Jefferies is in his top 3 working today...
He mentioned a certain Doug Stanhope. Do you guys not know about him? Well then, you've missed out on the greatest of all time. Put Carlin and Hicks and Louis and Burr together and you still don't get anywhere close to Stanhope.
Hear hear
Efin this, efin that, efin, efin, efin, etc.
Red Foxx, Richard Pryor.
Ahh yes. Joe Rogan....... the comedian....
I mean 🤷♂ he's not bad.
Personally I wouldn't put Joe on the list (doubt he wud either ) but he did have a genuinely great bit looking at what wud have happened if the smart Egyptians had all died but just the dumb Egyptians survived lol. Not bad at all, but I don't think he's in the game anymore with that.
@@jackburton6330 @jackburton6330 He is though. He is completely talentless in comedy. The only reason he's ever had a live show is because he's also shameless, and some people get off on watching shameless people make clowns of themselves on stage. A pretty good interviewer with his ups and downs, which is reflected in his podcast. Seemingly a pretty good dude in general; looks out for his friends and family, and makes it a point to include people with viewpoints that he doesn't share. But an absolutely terrible comedian.
Fuck, take the stool off the stage and he'll be humping the stage lights to make a punchline.
Correction: Vos walks up and says "Whats this? A zero convention?" And they give him exactly what that joke deserved: zero
I agree with all of his, I always like Shelley Berman
Bill is on fire.
Ok so the frankie boyle attic joke. It was about a boy who's uncle went into the attic and got a monkey with its legs sewn together and he made the boy perform sexual acts on it. At the end of the joke he looked at a boy in the audience and said "you remind me of that monkey"
Don Rickles.
I was surprised that he wasnt mentioned..
Eddie Murphy
I would include Robin Williams
Dangerfield!
Abbot and Costello
Don Rickles king of insult humor.
Don Rickles
Bill Burr is one of my favorite comedians, but he lost all legitimacy when he said sam kinison.
Prior, Kinison, Burr, Patrice O'Neal,...
How far back?
Robin Williams far back or Bill Murray?
Jim before he was Gay or after?
Chris Rock and Dave always, but Chris just finally slammed Will and that was great!
Of course I never thought of Will as a comedian as in more of emotion.
“I get no respect” Guy to the Beverly Hill Guy?! 😂😂😂
Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy
Wc Fields! Greatest one liners EVER
greg geraldo...just saying
Bill Hicks for god sakes!
Gallagher

poor Tom and Burt
no Billy Connelly oh ok, but i suppose its more American based, so cool
Chris rock
Lol Joe Rogan?! Really dude?......
Dave Allen beats them all
Saying this many names just devalues the whole thing. Should do top 5/10 underappreciated comedians
None of the names mentioned "devalue" anything. It's not like he's mentioning no name second tier comedians. These are all time greats that are seemingly impossible to pick only 5.
Frankie Boyle
Can Humans be Tamed?
We need to develop ourselves as human beings beyond our animate level of existence, and it is possible with a certain kind of education.
Developing ourselves as human beings means learning and balancing ourselves with the integral laws of nature operating on our lives. If we learn how to positively connect among each other in human society, with altruistic attitudes replacing our current egoistic attitudes, we then develop ourselves beyond the animate level of existence and become human beings in the fullest sense of the term.
First, we need to provide for our animate lives, giving our physical bodies the food, sex and family that they require, then after taking care of those essentials, we can begin our human development. We then need to learn who and what we are, where we are from, why we exist, how we can develop ourselves, how we can control our human development, what our attitude to our surrounding society should be, what society’s attitude should be toward us, and how we can develop together harmoniously, i.e. us in relation to society, and society in relation to us.
We need to supply ourselves with this development that will make us human beings. Unfortunately, I see nobody understanding what it means to develop a human being, and we thus fail to realize such a process. One of the outcomes of our lack of development into human beings is our inability to understand the younger generation. We become increasingly detached from them, and do not know what will happen with them or how to guide them in a beneficial direction. We thus let life unfold as it does, into a proliferation of problems and crise.
Very simply, we need to learn what nature wants from us, and to develop in order to balance with nature’s demands toward us. If we meet those demands, we can then build a harmonious and peaceful world, one that is in balance with nature.
Norm!!!
