Watching Eddie here and realizing he’s coming into this age where he’s looking back on a life full of achievements after how far he’s come, and, now talking about returning to standup brings tears to my eyes. It makes me realize how much he’s been a part of my life and the humor his movies/acting has instilled in my personality, how to laugh at yourself, laugh at problems that we cannot change. I was born in '59. I want to thank Seinfeld, Murphy, Cosby, Prior, Ball, Carol Burnett, Flip Wilson, Carlin, Goldberg, Roseanne, Ray Romano and all the others who entertained me for 64 years. We had the best Tv shows, comedy, music. It was great!!
I was born in ‘60. Many thx to Rodney Dangerfield, Jonathan Winters, Red Skelton, Steve Martin, Jim Carey, Don Rickles, Tim Conway, Ruth Buzzie, Robin Williams, Jerry Lewis, Curly Howard and the list goes on…
Yeah, I wish that Cosby scandal never happened. I wish he was wiser. Not a fan of his stand ups, but he was so incredibly funny in The Cosby Show. Mad world...

This is so great. What I liked was Jerry playing co-host. Taking a question, answering it, bouncing everything OFF of Eddie. (almost like it was a co- interview of Eddie). "We'd never SEEN anyone explode like Eddie Murphy" = means so much more because it's Jerry Seinfeld. .
Eddie was just being really passive. I don't know that Jerry was co-hosting as much as de-hosting trying to keep the spotlight on himself and Eddie. I think Eddie seemed sad like trying to respect that state we're all in while Jerry is hooked on his comedian savior thing he keeps talking about on 'Getting Coffee.
What a treat! Two absolute masters of their craft just chewing the fat in such an easy way, and what a perfect interviewer who knows when to come in and when to stay out of the way. Outstanding.
@@dannyjames9986 Maybe. Feel like Jerry came ready to do the bulk of the talking. Not an ego thing, just helping out Eddie who would prob rather be home or hanging with buds.

I saw Richard Pryor live in a nightclub. I wasn't old enough buy someone slipped me in. Richard was so funny I honestly feared for my life. I had to get up and go outside just to get ahold of myself. I absolutely seriously thought I'd die laughing. I'll remember that night for the rest of my life
I totally understand that. I saw George Carlin and my face hurt from laughing and trying to regulate my breathing, and yes it was exactly the same as it was seeing Richard Pryor. I felt like I should have trained to laugh that much. ;-) I never saw Eddie Murphy live but I'd give my kidney and my left arm to see him do stand up again.
I used to go to the comedy clubs in the day in Boston and the first time I saw Steven Wright I had a similar experience. He was unknown at that point and just so different from everyone else. I wasn’t prepared.
I saw Brian Regan at a casino years back and genuinely considered stepping outside for a few minutes because my throat hurt so bad from laughing I thought I might be doing permanent damage.
glic, it is always fun to hear what the rich and famous did, when they were regular working folks. So many famous actresses, waited tables at one time. And the guys...Little Caesars, digging ditches, driving limos. It's fascinating.
The pure joy in Eddie's face when he laughs is infectious. I grew up with his comedy and I'm not sure anyone has ever been any funnier than him. Love that guy.
It’s incredible to watch. Eddie can turn it on just a little tiny bit and the entire room is dying. Like his “You ain’t nobody!” or James Earl Jones “I have a problem with that...” He’s tapped into some kind of pure spirit of funny.
Eddie has the rare talent to deliver any line and make it very funny. I was expecting to not find his recent snl sketches funny but they were the best I’ve seen in a while
I thin Dave is over rated. People follow the crowd and the hype. Hes a top comedian but if you went to see him and didnt know who he was you would think 'yeh that was pretty funny', you wouldn't be thinking goat.

This was a great interview!❤ I hadn’t realized they were good friends. What a massive compliment Jerry gave Eddie! They made me laugh just with their conversation and friendly disagreements!😆 Jerry really embraced Eddies heckler comment “You ain’t nobody!” 😂 Jerry pretty much lets us know who he is while Eddie has often surprised me. When he said no character was really him, it makes me more curious what he’s truly like! I still watch Seinfeld reruns. Eddie killed it on SNL. He could do anything! Sometimes I’m pleasantly surprised at what a good actor he is! I recently saw him in a serious role as Mr. Church. He was so good in a role completely different than his usual roles.
Notice how at 7:42 Jerry is already ripe for a laugh just after Eddie gave him a look for what he was about to say. This is truly a sign of close friendship. Being able to anticipate a good line before it's said. Those two are legends and representative of what's best in America.
@AceClo/Yes! Eddie is 100% GENUINE and Jerry is VERY insightful. There have been a dozen or so "legends" in stand-up. I suppose a dozen might be accurate. Eddie just has so much composure. Seinfeld has an incredible work ethic and comedy is in ever fiber of his being. I loved Eddie Murphy Raw. Some of the best material ever. The intro into "RAW" still makes chills run up my spine. Good interview questions answered by THE BEST STAND-UPS EVER. I also like that Jerry is enormously respectful to Eddie. I like that Eddie NEVER comprises his honesty. He's never ever superficial in interviews. That discussion where they laugh about the heckler that said "You 'ain't nobody" is very funny. A nice tribute to Flip Wilson. Speaking of the older guys, Red Foxx was hilarious on Sanford & Son. Playing that grumpy, pull no punches, sarcastic junk yard owner. Now that was comedy. Back when there were few stand-ups in the 70's. Yet, it was about that time that Steve Martin in "A wild and crazy guy" made its debut. And, Richard Pryor was a huge draw everywhere. Carlin too with his outrageous outlooks on various topics. Anyway. Yes, Eddie Murphy. NOBODY MAKES ME LAUGH HARDER. It seems to me that NOONE "kills it" every single night. But, Eddie Murphy does so well. He gives the audiences "a slam dunk" every time. Maybe I'm biased. However as a 61 yr. old male, white American, Jerry Seinfeld makes me appreciate just how easy stand-up looks when it's actually very difficult to get to the top. In other interviews, Seinfeld discusses some of the nuances in connecting with various audiences and how no matter how good you are, there are nights that as a performer that your best just isn't there. Jerry talks about "getting to that place" where a connection is made. Because that connection ISN'T ABOUT YOU. IT'S ALL ABOUT MAKING VARIOUS AUDIENCES LAUGH, AT ALL COSTS. Yet, Seinfeld works with almost no foul language and I like that. A lot. For example, Sam Kinison wasn't funny. He was crude. Lenny Bruce was VERY offensive. Eddie used foul language but even though it was "edgy" material, it was based on certain realities. Like his drunk father. HILARIOUS MATERIAL with that. Imitating his father Vernon making fun of his wife Lillian. And, imitating Bill Cosby who he looked up to. Just two BRILLIANT COMEDIANS. Eddies COMPOSURE. Jerry Seinfeld has such insight about being successful in stand-up. Has anyone seen the fairly new material where he talks about using the wrong tone of voice in his own house and his wife objects. Realistic and yet peaceful honesty about the relationship with his dear, dear wife. Comedy is in every fiber of Seinfelds being. Eddie is just wonderful, peaceful Eddie. Truly two LEGENDS. Just my perspectives. And my opinions.
I think the interviewer did a fantastic job for this interview. Very professional with great questions and responses to keep the dialogue going. Great job.
@Sudhir Kakar He was always kind of a character actor, his big personality is what made him funny (not necessarily jokes). He seemed to always do better when playing off of other actors as well, like Beverly Hills Cop's "Billy" character or Dan Aykroyd in Trading spaces. As time went on he shifted from being a wisecracking smartass in his roles to more of a "responsible" fatherly type role. Most of what he does now is family friendly or kids movies, even if he went back to his wisecracking ways you can tell it's just not him anymore. -I think maybe from being a father he felt he had to be a better role model, whatever happened it sucked the humor out of him.
Eddie could brag his ass off but he's the most humble person in the room. Two legends in the same room. Both complimenting each other throughout. These are role models, and people to idolize.
As a Black man with gold teeth I gotta admit it...Jerry Seinfeld is one of my favorites. I appreciate his dry humor because you have to be intelligent to get his jokes.

This is the first time I remember ever seeing Eddie Murphy being himself and not doing stand up or being an actor. I love it. He's one is my favorite people ever and my sincere condolences to him for his brother Charlie who was so great on the Chappelle show. His material wasn't prolific but his True Hollywood Stories are at the top of my favorite comedy ever - plus finally seeing the guy that Eddie talked about having to be rolled around on the ground to put him out at a barbecue when they were kids because of an overzealous uncle with the lighter fluid, and how they both hung out together at club 54 when Eddie was just making it big. They must have had so much fun together. Great guys, great contributions to the good part of other people's lives
Jerry's literally a billionaire now, but he still does comedy because he truly loves it. That is something. And he's always been a clean comedian, which I admire about him. I love Eddie too, though. Both great comedians in their own ways. Loved this interview!
"This is Seinfeld's Saab he bought it with jokes" - Eddie Murphy lol. I had said earlier "This is Seinfeld's Saab he bought it with jokes" cause I was in a rush to go go drinking.
Comedians are our angels. They take on the weight of the world, public ridicule and societal discomfort to point out the idiocy of humans in a way that they’ll actually receive. Many of them developed that gift out of serious pain and trauma. They take those wounds and their brilliance at cultural observation and give it back to us, brutally honestly, and in doing so make us laugh. They are angels.
I love when Eddie does impersonation, its so funny. Being funny comes so natural to him. I've watched Eddie from the start of his Stand-Up comedy days, I can't understand why he stopped, but I'm glad he is back. Seinfeld is also my favorite Comedian. I got to see him live when he came to do a show at Boise Idaho, and I watched and continue to watch his sitcom, they are classic. I was raised in NY, and I was able to relate to the characters in his show, because that is how people I hanged out with in NY were really like. I of coursed didn't realize it until I moved out of NY. Whenever, I call my friends/family in NY, I can't help but laugh, because sometimes is like I'm watching one of Seinfeld sitcom's. Thank goodness for Comedian's.

Just salt of the earth guy. And with him I was also pretty star struck. But he was so friendly he could make you forget how famous he was. The night I got to meet Pryor we actually saw Jay Leno perform at the Hollywood Improv (back when his hair was mostly black). We were leaving the club because we did have a curfew at 10PM and as we were leaving Richard Pryor walked in, I was stunned.. legit. I really was a huge fan of his since I was a little girl. So to see him I really was in awe. And I mean I had met enough celebs by then that I realized they are just people and I got over being star struck with most I met. Not Pryor. And I babbled like a fool. Never did that with any other star I met... just Pryor. It was like meeting a King.
Often times winning an Oscar has been a detriment. You would expect it would bring them a ton of job offers, but not so much. It’s like American Idol. The runners up do just as well if not better than the winner. The winners don’t always make it. Sometimes just getting a nomination gives them enough recognition or notoriety. The winner is an actors’ actor, not who the movie goers like. Remember when Chariots of Fire was the big thing at the Oscars 😮but many of us didn’t like it. So many times we think the Academy didn’t get it right. Case in point: Jamie Lee Curtis. I was upset when Angela Bassett, a MUCH better actress, didn’t get Best Supporting Actress. She can act circles around Jamie! Another one the Academy got wrong.
llw53one agreed. Jerry seems like a bit of a diva. Kind of arrogant... but he is a legend and a path maker . I literally think Eddie Murphy is AS good, in a different way, then Seinfeld. .. more ... Raw?! Seinfeld gets way more accolades, but they are equals as far as talent and influence .

It’s because everyone asks them the same questions over and over again. They know half the audience has already heard their answers. What are they going to do to them if they go off script and just hang out? Fire them? They already got paid! To always keep smiling no matter what challenges life may throw at us. Thank you Eddie, you’ve brought joy to my life forever..

I could see these two in a buddy movie.
Yeah. Seinfeld made the interview much better. Got Eddie to open up more because he was giving some really short answers at time.
He's just showing proper respect to the "True King"
Eddie was just being really passive. I don't know that Jerry was co-hosting as much as de-hosting trying to keep the spotlight on himself and Eddie. I think Eddie seemed sad like trying to respect that state we're all in while Jerry is hooked on his comedian savior thing he keeps talking about on 'Getting Coffee.

Eddie is so calm and unassuming, you’d never guess he was as famous as he is. What an intelligent and interesting interview, I enjoyed it immensely.
I saw Richard Pryor live in a nightclub.
I wasn't old enough buy someone slipped me in.
Richard was so funny I honestly feared for my life.
I had to get up and go outside just to get ahold of myself.
I absolutely seriously thought I'd die laughing.
I'll remember that night for the rest of my life
Really?
I totally understand that. I saw George Carlin and my face hurt from laughing and trying to regulate my breathing, and yes it was exactly the same as it was seeing Richard Pryor. I felt like I should have trained to laugh that much. ;-) I never saw Eddie Murphy live but I'd give my kidney and my left arm to see him do stand up again.
I've had that experience with social media videos. But, I would have rather have had it with Richard Pryor Live in a nightclub.
Only Jerry Seinfeld could make “putting lightbulbs in boxes” funny! Two of my favorite comedians together!
glic, it is always fun to hear what the rich and famous did, when they were regular working folks.
Stand up I would say Richard Pryor is funnier Bill Cosby is a better story teller but Eddie is just funny movies, standup, interviews just everything
@@hoopjumper7942 Can't disagree with that, man.
It’s incredible to watch. Eddie can turn it on just a little tiny bit and the entire room is dying. Like his “You ain’t nobody!” or James Earl Jones “I have a problem with that...” He’s tapped into some kind of pure spirit of funny.
Charlie Murphy was hilarious and in my opinion better than Eddie.
Eddie was never funny only In clumps. Charlie Murry is indeed funnier
Eddie has the rare talent to deliver any line and make it very funny. I was expecting to not find his recent snl sketches funny but they were the best I’ve seen in a while
Right but that has more to do with SNL being abysmal now.
Dave Chapelle still walks the earth.
That's why they didnt mention anybody when they asked about younger comedians because someone younger is the GOAT
Yup
I thin Dave is over rated. People follow the crowd and the hype. Hes a top comedian but if you went to see him and didnt know who he was you would think 'yeh that was pretty funny', you wouldn't be thinking goat.
@@mnb9162 that's kind of a difficult example, because the goat is a goat in large part because they're known, because they're tested. If Dave stopped after Killing Them Softly he wouldn't be the goat. Time makes the goat.

Nice catch! Eddie gave him a look like, hold on, I've got a great joke coming... And of course Seinfeld held for him. Friendship. Trust. Timing.
the delivery of "you aint nobody" via Klomp voice was hilarious break into character...
It's funny to see comedians make each other laff!
Great job.
“You ain’t nobody!” 😂🤣 Love how Eddie says, “A very black heckle.”
My Dad loved the Flip Wilson show. After working all day and having dinner, we all would sit down and watch the Flip Wilson show. Good memory.
It was SO good to hear Eddie say he wants to get more laughs, because we want more Eddie.
@Dan Blaize
Money runs out
Eddie could brag his ass off but he's the most humble person in the room. Two legends in the same room. Both complimenting each other throughout. These are role models, and people to idolize.

Comedians are our angels. They take on the weight of the world, public ridicule and societal discomfort to point out the idiocy of humans in a way that they’ll actually receive. Many of them developed that gift out of serious pain and trauma. @@DWHarper62. Lol. I was going to say the exact same thing. But I’m way late to the party and ya beat me to it.

7:42mins Great example of their connection. He's locked in and sees the funny coming - already laughing, when the hit comes 😂😂😂
I am impressed Jerry makes the point that Eddie's 'fame and power was explosive,,,,we had never seen anything like that before or since.' I think we all feel that way.
jerry's incredibly intelligent. people may not think he's very funny because his approach is so intellectual, but he's truly a student of comedy.
@@escarlit Intellewhat? Jerry said it himself: he just has a bag of tricks.
supertoyg i said he’s a student of comedy. what exactly don’t you understand?
@@escarlit a primary-school student, yeah. He says that himself: he doesn't analyze what he does or doesn't do, he just can't. The only thing he knows how to do is to isolate absurdity out of everyday life. That's all he does, period. Hardly a pinnacle of intellectual power. It's actually sad that he tries to argue that everyone else is the same, when it's clearly not the case.
supertoyg again, i said he’s a STUDENT OF COMEDY. i am not talking about his PERFORMANCE STYLE, PERSONAL PREFERENCES, or PROFESSIONAL CAPABILITIES.

Seinfeld and Murphy should do a Masterclass on comedy. And kudos to that interviewer. She kept everything tight and rolling, asking good questions
@devildog1982z You're the fucking hack. Joy did a fantastic job.
Sarah Bridges Yes, she has her own show now.
I'd rather attend a Masterclass on Comedy by Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock and Louie CK.
@@DunmoresMovieMania Dave Chapelle 100%! He really should do one.
Very nicely pointed out. Clever interviewing can gain so much more meaningful answers from people! Celebrities are so accustomed to being interviewed and asked many of the same questions over and over! But here they are both engaged in the process and she's getting excellent responses!
I LOVED Flip Wilson and am so glad to hear these two icons speak so well of him.
Eddie can do anything. I still think he should have won the Oscar for Dreamgirls. He was amazing. Every movie he does he brings it all the way. So so many laughs he has given us from the get go. Jerry Seinfield is a crack up too. Still watch Seinfeld and laugh. Great men!
That is so on point, best dramatic performance of his career, totally underrated
Pluto Nash is the worst movie ever, period
Loved Pluto Nash
He was amazing in Dreamgirls. Certainly should've won the Oscar.
Seinfeld still kills.
“He bought this with jokes!”
What a great insight into their minds back then. Funny was important, fame and riches weren’t even thought of.
PS: If you fall in love with the effort part (ie: passionate about it), then the riches will come by themselves. Always someone around to value that thing you do well.
HA. you must not have been alive then.
"He bought this with JOKES!!" - Eddie Murphy lmao
Favorite Eddie Murphy movie is Life. Just gets better, funnier, and sadder every time I watch it.
Norbit !!!! 😃
Diondrae Jones omg one of my favs!!!
Diondrae Jones underrated movie!
I'm gonna go watch it now I think....haven't seen it for years!
It's been a loooong time coming
I love how Jerry makes EVERYTHING in life very easy.. it’s probably his best feature .. it doesn’t take ANYTHING that seriously at all.
He is the opposite of Larry David which makes everything awkward.
thats kind of what makes Larry David kind of strangely idiosincratic and awesome however@@toriless
Effortlessness
This is unrelated to this video, but SNL announced that Eddie Murphy will host on Dec 21st
Daniel Toma it’s pretty related to this video
Yes it is. "Kill my landlord"
@International Harvester original skit on SNL. Eddie did BuckWheat as Mr Rodgers. But he lived in a bad neighborhood and hated his landlord
@@ahaibeh91 This is the first time in a LONG time that I've looked forward to a specific episode of SNL.
Also unrelated, Eddie confirmed today that he will be touring in 2020. Yes, you read that correctly and I’m beyond excited
I love when comedians can make each other laugh
Who ever edits these should put pictures up of who these comics are talking about.
Would be nice to get a visual
Tell me about it. It is such a struggle to find out about stuff now that the internet is here.
or at least spelling, i got no idea how to spell the first name, is it schoie, skowie or something like that? never seen or heard of anyone with that name
@@johnstitt3717 lol
@@LovingTinha Scoey Mitchell; Flip Wilson; Richard Pryor; Bernie Mac; Charlie Chaplin...
@@vidclickr thx
I watched Flip Wilson growing up in the 70s. Loved that show. Never missed it. He was hysterical as Geraldine.
It makes sense that Eddie would say he's nothing like the characters in his movie, because watch his interviews and the dude is extra chill. Almost so chill, you'd think he wouldn't say anything funny, but then BAM, here comes the joke lol. Total opposite of his movie roles.
Used to want to meet him. But he mostly annoys me in these interviews.
Bat he annoys you because he’s quiet, reserved and seemingly introverted and not the character he plays in movies? Lol sounds like something is wrong with you and he doesn’t deserve to meet someone like you tbh.
Sam Sabra Lol he really is. It’s crazy how extremely talented people can be the total opposite of what their talent requires.
@@MisterFoxx that true. he doesnt.
Ya theres this interview on here somewhere I think a close peer of his like chris rock says eddie knows he's funny to the point he doesn't feel the need to make someone laugh in a conversation but in that same conversation he would also say something hilarious where you'd be left with the impression ya that's eddie.
The ice cream truck joke is from delirious not raw 4:55
M. A. Manago Good
I still think he was talking about me
Does it really matter? I mean really?
@@chuckfan1no... it doesn't. But maybe raw rode the delirious wave. The first special was more of a statement for us minorities.
Thank you, I was about to write the same thing.
Wish Bernie mac was here to receive a compliment from Jerry Seinfeld.... classy move jerry!
Jayhoop Hoopjay Bernie was around a long time I’m sure he knew Seinfeld was a fan.
Jayhoop Hoopjay why jerry 🤔
@@kewan2045 idk... jerry at the top of his game wasn't thinking about black comics...I think after he retired he had time to indulge....and found something he liked... ironically I didn't start watching Seinfeld till it had been gone a year....and I love it!...seen every episode.... and secondly name one black comic other than his bff that was on the show?.....
Jayhoop Hoopjay Jerry been in comedy since 70’s Bernie 80’s. It was a smaller fraternity back then.
@@jameshooper1382 George Wallace was on there. Are you saying he's Seinfeld's bff?
Two of THE Best comedians of all time! Great to see them together!
"You aint nobody." And with that Eddie said the funniest thing in while segment without really trying.
And it wasn't even his joke.
And Jerry kept bringing it back up. And he got better at saying it..lmao. the first time he said it, he was sooo Caucasian....lol.
@@cmorrell1031 he had to ease into it to not look racist lol.
I laughed hard and long at that. Jerry's response was hilarious, too!
@@dusttracks Jerry's reaction was genuine lol
Eddie lost Charlie not to long ago 😢.
Im glad he looks like he is good.
Charlie?
@@erosramasotti1080 Charlie Murphy...his older brother
Yes that is it for sure. I feel for him
He dedicated the Dolemite movie to him. Right in the feels when I saw that tribute
Aka sacrificed him
Eddie looks almost half his actual age...can't believe he's 58
58! No way he looks that!
that means he started on snl at about 20 years old.
his bad habits show around his eyes. or maybe that's just botox.
.. and Seinfeld is 65. Laughter is a good medicine for them.
He and Chris Rock both age like fine wine.
I can't believe the host got the wrong Eddie Murphy concert for the ice cream sketch. That was "Delirious", which was the first and best of the two performances. "Raw" was okay, but could not compare to the original show.
Eddie Murphy, one of the greatest comedians of any generation.
"I'm pretty sure I'm funny now" - Eddie Murphy
I loved Eddie Murphy in Bowfinger! He played two different people in that movie. He was brilliant! Steve Martin wrote the script. Pure genius.
Yes, an awesome movie it was. "KIT, Keep.It.Together....keepittogetherkeepittogetherkeepittogetherkeepittogetherkeepittogether."
David Eanes My favorite scenes in that movie were Kit’s brother running across the freeway over and over, and Kit being secretly filmed in the parking garage. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard!
Michael Freed that was awesome! Such great writing, and great actors. Eddie really blew me away with his versatility.
Bowfinger was brilliant!!
@Michael Freed Steven Crowder said that Dean Cain was a "1 perfect take" guy who always knew how he looked on the camera. I think there are a lot of pros who can do this but very few with Mr. Murphy's charisma.
This was so great!
It was nice to hear them talk about Flip Wilson! I loved him, Scoey Mitchell too. And I love Eddie Murphy and Jerry Seinfeld! I'm very lucky to have grown up in the era that was the heyday of stand-up comics and comedians. There were so many great ones.
So good to see comedy lovers really love Norm and Patrice like nobody else.
s2ci does anyone have a time stamp for either of these mentions? They are my two favorite comedians and I don’t know how I missed it.
@@myusername5937 Yeah, I thought I listened to the full thing but missed that too.

Some ones needs to tell Mr. Eddie Murphy that he is in the ppls hearts his comedy is beloved even to this day! We dream of a new Eddie stand-up!
Yes!!
He is irrelevant... not funny anymore
@@kaogoogle1031 u are silly, he is very relevant and funny as ever. He's a classic, you thinking he's not particularly funny or relevant is totally personal.
@Miguel Martinez he has a Netflix special coming this year
24:15 Jerry explains how Norm MacDonald was able to tell certain jokes that no other comedian could get away with.
I love how Jerry and Eddie take the questions but are really just talking to each other.
The only peers in the room apparently.
I love how Jerry and Eddie really have no interest in the questions themselves and keep diverging off to just reminisce about old comics and specials. There's something so genuine about them
They don't wanna come off arrogant
Tri Star pictures can build it before i come in
to be fair these questions sucked ass and both of these dudes know how to entertain
It’s because everyone asks them the same questions over and over again. They know half the audience has already heard their answers. What are they going to do to them if they go off script and just hang out? Fire them? They already got paid! Seinfeld especially can get prickly when getting the same question over and over again or when he’s asked a stupid one. He considers media work to be a waste of his time, so at least make it interesting for him.
He definitely pushed the conversation to things he wanted to talk about with Eddie and vice versa.
