    It's very pleasant to hear someone talking about Norns/grid ecosystem and demistifying it while being funny at the same time, it makes it very enjoyable for me to watch. I've been overflowed by all the infos I can get about all Monome stuff and this is refreshing !

    You totally deserve positive comments. The video was just enducational enough and just entertaining enough to both give me a chuckle and teach me someting about Norns and MLR. Thanks.

      get on a synth forum and look for secondhand. some people build diy for themselves (just for lols) and then discover it's not for them or they are more about the process and not the music. win/win

    Thanks for this. I built a Norns shield and its cool but its not quite clicking with me yet. You just explained why I need it - immediacy. Experiment and get results quickly vs spending hours fiddling with a DAW and ending up with shit. Now I can justify building a Grid. Best Norns video I've watched so far!

    Is MLR kind of useless without a grids?

    • @temporary_terpenes
      @temporary_terpenes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm new to Norns and the concepts of the architecture. I believe MLR is script that ties the Softcut engine together with the Monome Grid as a controller. The Softcut engine can be accessed on it's own with other scripts on the Norns is what I can gather. monome.org/docs/norns/softcut/

    so this is a super dumb question, but can’t you dooooo dooo this with pickup machines?

    • @AtTheTableGames
      @AtTheTableGames  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not a dumb question at all! the short answer is yes and no. i mean, technically you can do this sort of basic thing with literally any looper. but the automated pitch shifting is fairly unique to mlr. like i said in the video, i kinda can’t explain why this particular looper results in the happy accidents it does while other loopers just don’t for me. but yes, if you’re just looking for multiple asynchronous loops, pickup machines can do that job for sure

      @@AtTheTableGames dear octadad thanks for the prompt reply. i looked up said device and it is my understanding that with the controller we are looking at a 1500$ device (if not in the diy case)? is this correct or am i missing something?
