People think that Shankaracharya is shaivate. Actually, the great scholars hide the fact about Shaivate acharyas. Many people don't know 5 acharyas of Veerashaivism. Even today most of the Shaiva temples are run by Veerashaiva priest community called Jangams. They have 5 gotras belonging to these 5 acharyas. Shankaracharya is follower of both Shaiva and Vaishnava parampare and not a Shaivate himself. Kedarnath is still under control of Jangams. You can find old Jangam math in Nepal too. Brahmins try to hide these, because they want to feel they are supreme. Veerashaivas are pure shaivates and they do worship none other than lord Shiva. We don't celebrate Krishna janmastami and we don't know Adi Sankaracharya also. There are so many acharyas who were born and propogated shaivism across south India. Palkuri somanath, Panditaradhya, Revanaradhya. All we see in textbook is Ramanujacharya and Adi Sankaracharya.

Shaiva dharma is supreme. Its a dravidian religion. We can see to much contrast b/w shaivism and vaishnavism. Vaishnavism for me seems like a foriegn religion which came to dravida region from abrahamic culture. Just go to ISKON and visit a normal shiva temple in village you can find the difference. The other feels like a church to me.

Sir, I am a Rajasthani, my roots are from UP and come from a Princely family, and are Brahman. (Currently just a regular family guy,it is not bad to be proud of my ancestry and history, that some people think being a Brahmin was/is super bad and they caused harm to other non-brahmins, I simply think that Brahmin Families were special because of the Gyan and Viveka that they had since this was not taught in schools but carried forwarded in generations by the time they became so important to kings and lords which gave them such outcast from other pool of society) I myself have devotion towards Laxmi Nayaran (Vishnu in any avatar or in itself) but at the same time have always worshiped Lord Ganesha First and Shiva Most. I am a descendant of Vishnavs but have always seen Shiva as an at par element of rituals and temples. So I do not know why it is fruitful to distinguish between. As culture grew people choose the element of Shakti or karaka (Supreme Lords). Also, I really disliked your designating "North Cow-belt" while it is true that we follow the scriptures that tell that the Srishti resides in a Cow. and it is to be loved and I personally love the nature this Jeeva has. This denomination is not welcome at all. The same goes for "The Print" Editor-Chief. Also, I think the "Coexistence" of and prosperity of South parts of India should be credited to the Jungles of eastern parts of India and majorly the Wall of Marathas, who shed their blood like a monsoon rain in western ghats to protect not only the lands of the empire but to protect dharma and culture from Mughals and Brits. Because of them, the South remained self and was not destroyed in all material and abstract senses. All India is in debt of Marathas for stopping the Mughals and Brits which has led the South to keep their culture and life in great continuity. Unlike UP, MP, Uttarakhand or Punjab & other states especially J&K and Bengal that have suffered for this whole Bharata. I would appreciate it that you respect the lives and efforts that these broken and suffered states (Big societies of people who are de-linked with their own great history-education-culture-RESPECT, are doing to regain the glory. And on top of it, we have a constant fear of China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and now even Nepal of hostile actions and take-overs). We are to fight every day as a nation to keep these elements at bay. The resources spent could have easily spent on enriching ourselves and had these hostilities were absent/resolved (Which I think Congress failed/never wanted to) Indians could have become rather powerful than any other state in this world(I think nobody can disagree on this). Need is to connect with the system that our ancestors had, increase our defenses and capacities for the time being. The Conflicts are obvious and I can not deny many North Indians do not like the Muslim Indians as they are descendants of Mughals who destroyed their culture their expertise and their educational supreme. They account the current generation for the atrocities done by then Mughals and to top some parts of government celebrate those Mughals and their creations. (That I think should be openly talked about and dealt with ASAP & Openly). Seeing these many issues South Should rather be thankful that the suffering North States have suffered were made limited to those lands and the minimal effect was present in the South due to the sacrifice of North parts and currently, as every Indian is trying, should help each other to create a synergy that gives power to the nation as a whole and resolve openly all the petty issues that each other have (Just like the Cow belt remark :) )
