Hi from Greece.Tarja in this video looks like a siren who with her song, hypnotizes the sailors and they fall on the rocks, and drown ,you can see sirens in Greek mythology, in the Odyssey of Homer on the journey of the return of Odysseus from Tria to Ithaca.

I think the song would need to be more complex to warrant that length. It would need to have different movements like Ghost Love Score or Poet and the Pendulum. As it stands it has its one central theme, one beautiful central sound it plays around and if you stretch that out for too long without change it starts to wear thin and outstay its welcome. If it leaves you wanting a little bit more, it's just the right length.

Tarja and Marco had some good duets on the two albums they were on together. "Planet Hell", "Dead to the World" (Live at Summer Breeze 2002 hint hint), "Wish I Had an Angel", "Feel for You" are other good ones.
Loving this! It brings back alot of memories from when i was younger 💯👌🏼 ( before life happened to me 😂) Tarja was my icon. And Nightwish was my gate to heavy metal ! Fun fact: When Tarja was in the band, they had to lower the microphones, because she sung louder than the whole band. This was a good pick! It made me nostalgic 😍As always i do love ur reactions! One of my favourites through the decades of Nightwish - Tarja and Marko reign supreme together here !!! We always seem to concentrate on Tarja and Marko and of course the brilliant Floor but often forget the short history of Annette and her duet with Marko after the exit of Tarja singing Thomas’s reaction to the breakup in music - “ Bye Bye Beautiful” is one you should give a listen - What a red hot banger - and was one of the first Nightwish Music Videos at the time - you can count the others at the time on one hand missing thumbs 🤣 Phil 🇬🇧🏴

I'm more of a Floor fan but I really like Tarja in this song. Plus I love how Marko is singing as well, it gets stuck in my head.
Not sure why you felt the need to point out that you like Floor. You're allowed to like them both.
When I first heard "Once," I loved every song, but this one stood out to me and still does as the cream of the crop (rest in peace, Randy Savage). As was mentioned in the reaction, the bass guitar stands out beautifully, and there's just a different feel to the song. It inspires images in my head more than any Nightwish song on the album. In that respect, it's similar to the underrated "Sahara" from the next album.

It’s funny that you mention the fifth element scene because that was the same thought I had back in 2006 (specifically June of that year) when I first heard this song.
At the time the siren was only two years old as it’s from the 2004 album once, let that digest for a second.
Oceanborn, Century Child and Once will always be my three favourite Nightwish albums of all time, like ever.
Tarja will always be my favourite Nightwish lead from a stylistic preference.
Floor will always be my go to when she sings Anette era Nightwish songs, and if I wanna throw on some after forever/revamp as well as Northward.

@@metalka_ Sometimes I think what happened is it depends when you started your Nightwish journey, I started in between eras (Tarja and Anette).
I do like to give an honourable mention however to Imaginaerum as I believe that to be Tuomas’ Magnum Opus (thinking that this November its 10th year anniversary).
I like that album simply for its concept, and the great thing about Floor with some of those songs from the album and especially dark passion play, she sings them the way I always envisioned them.
I am hoping that when Once times 20, Will finally get a re-release with the instrumental disc.
A disc which only got relegated to re-promo copy if you bought the DVD audio version and even bang it was only limited to about five copies.
I’d be just as happy if they did this for century child which celebrates its 20th anniversary next year.
At almost 35 at the time of writing, I feel old as f’k, I was 12 going on 13 when Oceanborn came out, 16 when Century Child was released and almost 18 when Once got released.
I’m 10 years younger than Tuomas and 20 years younger than Marco 🇫🇮🤘😜😂🤘🇫🇮 in Finland we trust.

The melodies on a pure instrumental side and vocally are really astonishing around 3'25" . 3'56" Guys Travis and Suzi have rythm in VeInS look at the faces . In this case expecially Suzi is really inspired she does even random upbeats with the head dancing ah ! 4'20" Like also this part around the moment . 4'25" The switching tempo is aggressive and the bass is consistent ! 4'50" Like said initially by Travis Marco and appreciated by Suzi Marco on the bass is really 'heavy' , he sounds glorious . 5'25" Listen to the empathetic rythm section Travis . You feel the kick's patterns . 5'36" Travis : Did she sound Arabic ? 6'14" This transition i love this kind of stuff is pretty fire . 6'36" You feel the power and the magic of that water with this music . Would love for Tuomas and Tarja to get back together again and work out their differences. It doesn't have to be them getting back together for Nightwish, which many of us wouldn't mind but to do some side project together in between her solo career and Tuomas Nightwish music. I do love Nightwish and I am a bigger fan of Floor as a vocalist but I loved the old Nightwish stuff and would love to hear atleast Tarja and Tuomas in some side musical project in the future.
A project Tuomas and Tarja maybe in another 15 years - maybe. I wish for a joint project from Tarja and Floor. Santa Terra with Simone gives an idea what it would be like. That both are friends would be basically possible.

I don't know if you have already done either of these songs yet or not, but there is a two song video from a 1999 concert featuring Sacrament of Wilderness and Gethsemanie); both songs are very well done, and you get the added novelty of a very young looking band (like seriously look like they're still in high school), all with short hair!

One point...mermaids are not Sirens and vice versa. In Greek mythology (western civilization is based on Greek history in major part) Odyssy did sail and met Sirens (good looking and singing female monsters) who tempted the seamen to "come to me" as the Sirens call is (Tarja sings that) and Odyssy "tied his hands to the wheel" (Marco sings that). Odyssy was able to resist that tempting call and survived unlike others who followed the call and therefore met their destiny killed by the Sirens. See also how they act this play. Awesome and intellect by Tuomas (and NW) again.
