Matt's friends waiting and running with him at the end is what made me emotional. The way they support each shows the love and respect they have for each other.Congratulations Matty. Much love ❤️
Me too but in a good way and i feel even more inspired to finish the 100 days of sweat even though its nothing to what matt did... So much love from me ❤
Before my father passed away he completed his final Ironman at 79 years old. Watching him do this for the last 20 years, over 700 triathlons, 45 marathons and him completing 12 ironmans, I can truly say that there are no people in the world like the Ironman and women who are crazy enough to compete. I'm a terrible biker and could never do this distance, but from the shorter and olympic distance tri's I've done, I agree that it is absolutely addicting and such an indescribable feeling crossing the line.
Will Cook Incredible story. I’m sorry about your loss I know how it feels (my Mum passed away when I was 5 and although I don’t remember it it still hurts inside). Your father sounds like a legend and so do you.
Will Cook i don’t do triathlons or anything like that but i am an accomplished competitive gymnast along with playing more than 4 other sports but standing on that first place podium just makes you feel complete and makes you feel happy i just can’t get enough i’ve had many hard battles and things to go through i’ve wanted to quit so many times but that drive and adrenaline just kept me going
This episode taught me 3 things: 1. You'll never know until you try. 2. True friends are the ones who lift you up. 3. Age is just a number. Live your life! (shoutout to that grandpa 6:05)
This video right here....has inspired hundreds if not thousands of people already to jump into something they've wanted to do for a long time, but have been hesitant to do so. Matts "You used to think this was impossible", got me ready to take the first step.

I am on the last hours of the most intense and hardest race of my life. In less than 7 hours, I'm going to be done with my bachelor's degree. As I watch this video, this morning, I'm crying like a baby. I had already watch it when it came out and probably a few more times after that, but it got me this morning... I hadn't realize how much work I had put into my degree in the last 3 years and I am so PROUD of myself... The words Matt wrote to himself just gave me the extra push I needed to finish my last essay... Thank you Yes Theory.
Man, I watched this and just cried. I’m so young, and I’ve got so much things I can do. My parents provided me with so many opportunities they haven’t ever had. Why do I take everything for granted. I have no goal in life. Watching this made me realise I need to change this, I want to feel the feeling of achievement after so all the hard work. Hard work = success 💖
I'm a two pack per day smoker and after seeing this video I decided to quit to improve myself and start working out to eventually complete the iron man. Thank you! Edit may/2020: Hey y'all. Wow, just wow! I didn't check my TH-cam account for a while, I'm sorry I didn't send any updates, I didn't know I was going to have so many good people cheering for me. This is truly incredible! I've read all the comments, and no, I'm not dead lol. After four months with no cigarettes and hitting the gym everyday I smoked a pack in a moment when I was under lots of stress - which made me really disappointed with myself, honestly. I started to get anxious and afraid that I was going to start smoking again cause I was really craving those cigs. So after this one pack I started to decrease slowly instead of cutting them all suddenly like I did 9 months ago. After one month I was able to stop completely. I just stoped going to the gym now cause we are all quarantined here in Egypt and gyms are closed but I keep working out everyday at home focused on complete the iron man. My goal didn't change! In this 9 months I decreased my body fat % and I've never felt so good and healthy. I hope you are all safe. You have no idea how thankful I am for all this support. I was feeling a bit down because of this quarantine thing but with you and your comments changed my mood completely. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are all incredible!
Patricia, how is quitting going? I quit smoking about four years ago and am set to complete my first marathon in September. It's not easy to quit but I believe in you. Keep going!
This video motivated me so much that I literally decided right after watching to go outside and run a half-marathon. And I fucking did it. Hadn't run a distance even close to this in over five years. Thank you so much for all you do, guys.
It's been a year since my last comment. In the meantime, I've run the halfmarathon distance >10 times (incl. in two official races), I've signed up for a marathon at the end of the year and will sign up for an Ironman 70.3 for next year. Thank you so much for the inspiration, I keep coming back to this video!
I've had huge respect for this man since the start of Yes Theory. A kind human, a good friend and an absolute legend! Way to go Matt! Your pain has given me the courage to include this one more thing on my bucket-list. Thank you all.
IS NO ONE GONNA TALK ABOUT HOW AMMAR WENT IN FOR THAT HUG AT 8:32 CAUSE MATT LOOKED LIKE HE WAS ABOUT TO PASS OUT. ITS SO PRECIOUS I REPLAYED IT AT LEAST 8 TIMES
I wish they would start a podcast where they would talk more about the episodes and what it was like, thing that weren’t included in the video, and etc.
later on in life when you have a couple of really amazing and special friends you are going to look back and say. "Remember, you used to think this was impossible."
I have been a runner my whole life but never did I think I was capable enough to do something as intense as this. I use to watch this video on repeat and listen to it on daily runs. It really was inspiring to me and about two years ago it helped push me to set a goal of completing an Ironman in under 12 hours just like Matt. Now, a year after finishing 11:52 in my race, I am continually setting higher and higher goals for myself inside and outside of the running world. I thought it was about time to come here and finally give recognition to some people who truly deserve it. Thank you guys for being the people you are and for inspiring me to become the best version of myself that I could be. I still watch this video from time to time when I need some extra motivation (and to remind myself that I beat Matt by a whole 6 minutes 😉). Again, thank you to all of you for being who you are and for what you do.
Hey Matt, Congratulations on officially becoming an Ironman and thank you for sharing your story. As I write this I am only 12 days away from racing in a triathlon that will make or break my dreams of competing in college and was feeling unprepared and doubtful that I can do it. After seeing this I have a new sense of determination to do everything I can to push myself for the next 12 days and on that morning to achieve my goals and qualify for the USA Junior Elite Triathlon National Championship UPDATE: The race went alright! I was a little disappointed because I didn’t qualify for nationals, but I did end up getting to talk to a few college coaches. Now those coaches have continue to show interest in taking me on as what my coach calls a “swim project” as I am not a strong swimmer but an exceptional cyclist and runner. Thank you all so much for the support!!!
i cant watch Yes Theory anymore... every episode makes my eyes water. Congrats Matt Edit: Wow didn't even think my comment would be seen thanks to all of you who have liked it. This is probably gonna be the closest I ever get to having Yes Theory read my words so I will take this chance to thank Yes Theory for changing the way I go about my life. I saw 12:08 on the board out back and I was so sad for a moment. I'm glad Matt made it under 12. Congrats! And those are some really great friends, supporting you all the way through.
Same! But that's the total time the race has taken so it depends on which corral you started with. If you think you're slower, you'll usually start later.
@@livingthesummerlifex True. Time doesn't start until you cross the starting line. The time on the big board is from the first competitor crossing the line.
His time was actually 11:57:44 according to the Ironman website: eu.ironman.com/triathlon/events/americas/ironman/santa-rosa/results.aspx?y=2019&rd=20190511&race=santarosa&bidid=977&detail=1#axzz5sqBgXYQ2

My daughter sent me this video 3 years ago when a weekly 5k Parkrun was my only fitness thing. She said “you should do this Dad”. 3 weeks ago aged 51 I earned my tattoo in Copenhagen. Hell of journey on the way with 10k, half marathon, marathon, ultramarathons, sprint triathlons, 70.3s and even failures at the full distance. Also made some great friends along the way. I just came back to watch this again. Little bit emotional watching it. Thank you for starting me on the path.

I've watched this video probably 500 times since it's been posted, and that number is on the low end. This singular video gives me so much hope, encouragement, and inspiration. Thank you, Yes Theory, for all that you do.
When I read your journey in your book I sobbed all the way through. The emotion you put on these pages. I felt like I was there doing the Ironman with you. The unity and love you guys have for each other is amazing ❤ thank you for being born.
For the last 3-4 years i wanted to run a half-marathon but the best i could do was 12km because i wasn't training constantly. After seeing this clip i registered for a half marathon that takes place in 30 days time. I will have 30 days to train for this. Thank you "Yes Theory" for being such a source of inspiration. Edit: I actually did it! I can't believe i actually ran a half-marathon. Thank you again Matt for inspiring me and other thousands of people! Next step: a full marathon! Edit 2 (09 oct 2022): 3 years after my first half-marathon i finally ran my first marathon in under 4 hours

Vinay Vardhan Singh I didn’t know someone replied to my comment! Sorry man but it is the same explanation as what Ben Taylor mentioned. You can find the explanation in one of their videos, 2018 I think?
My guy. I found y’all just a few days ago and went from oldest to newest and it’s helped a ton. I went from in shape to fat and my latest ex I got addicted to drugs and alcohol and finally fired. I quit the drugs and alcohol, and I’m down 11 pounds. It’s not a lot but I’m at 249 now. There’s days where it’s hell, but I’ll keep trying. Thanks doods.
very proud of him completing the ironman, which is insane, but the clock behind him, when he finishes, says 12h08... seems a bit fishy to me.. * edit : just checked the official results. It is correct, my bad!
Ironman now uses staggered starts that's why it says 12:08 Matt started 10 minutes after the fastest athletes www.active.com/triathlon/articles/6-faqs-on-ironman-s-new-swim-starts?page=2
Florent De Deken that's because they have one running timer that starts as soon as the first whistle or horn or whatever goes off but since they have so many people some start way farther back so their time doesn't start until they get to the start line
Even though the pain I’m going through is emotional and the pain you went through was a massive amount physical, you don’t understand what this did for me. All I can say is thank you.

IS NO ONE GONNA TALK ABOUT HOW AMMAR WENT IN FOR THAT HUG AT 8:32 CAUSE MATT LOOKED LIKE HE WAS ABOUT TO PASS OUT. ITS SO PRECIOUS I REPLAYED IT AT LEAST 8 TIMES
SEE THE TIME IT SHOWS 12:08:50 NOT 11:58:26
Those clocks start running from the very first person. Doubtful he was in the first set given he had never done this before.
11:58 from the time he crossed the start line
i come back to this video every so often just to see that hug
Anshul Agarwal he was likely in a wave that went 10 minutes after the first so his time was essentially that on the board minus 10.
EMOTIONAL VIDEO
Got goosebumps everywhere! Congrats Matt you deserved it
Wow - this is on a whole other level of editing.
Had goosebumps for a good minute after watching this.
Edit: thx for the likes y'all
I just love seeing brothers hugging and showing true love for each other, it warms my heart. Thank you x
5:21 that phone call with Aaron. Just wow. Such incredible words of wisdom. Thank you.
anyone else crying their eyes out!? Amazing Matt!
No
I definitely did

Sarah Janosz KILLED IT!!!
Sarah Janosz no but it was a cool video
I wish they would start a podcast where they would talk more about the episodes and what it was like, thing that weren’t included in the video, and etc.
That's such a great idea! Like it so the guys see it!
Or another channel. A bts channel.
I envy the friendship between you three so much. I pray to find relationships like that.
Keep making videos I subbed man
later on in life when you have a couple of really amazing and special friends you are going to look back and say. "Remember, you used to think this was impossible."
The exact thing came in my mind.
I truly pray for the same.. have a friendship like this, and you don't anything else from life
@@burned357waffles Haha, what you just said made me cry even more :') waiting for that moment
Hey Matt,
Congratulations on officially becoming an Ironman and thank you for sharing your story. As I write this I am only 12 days away from racing in a triathlon that will make or break my dreams of competing in college and was feeling unprepared and doubtful that I can do it. After seeing this I have a new sense of determination to do everything I can to push myself for the next 12 days and on that morning to achieve my goals and qualify for the USA Junior Elite Triathlon National Championship
UPDATE: The race went alright!
You can do it bro
You got this don’t give up it’s all in the mindset!
you got this! so many people suport you love you now dont let them down!!
You got this!!!! You will dominate!!!! Just do your best that is all that matters.

I don't know why but the shot of him in so much pain while Thomas and Ammar cheered for him really brought tears to my eyes.
This is INCREDIBLE! INSANE! WHY AM I CRYING!!! Thank you for the constant inspiration you seriously rock!
Me too. At the end I started to cry like bro i-
When he finished I started to get all emotional

Best of luck man! How have you trained for it. I'd like to do one
Andrew Gibbons thanks so much man I can’t wait for it! Will be dropping a video on it also 🎉
Andrew Gibbons in response to training Q, been working with Sansego who are an epic company. It’s like $30 a month and they give you a proper daily plan of the training up to your race. I’m on about 10 hours per week!

Matt: ironman

😂😂 love you guys!
There was so much love in this video it brought me to tears ❤️
My daughter sent me this video 3 years ago when a weekly 5k Parkrun was my only fitness thing. She said “you should do this Dad”. 3 weeks ago aged 51 I earned my tattoo in Copenhagen. Hell of journey on the way with 10k, half marathon, marathon, ultramarathons, sprint triathlons, 70.3s and even failures at the full distance. Also made some great friends along the way. I just came back to watch this again. Little bit emotional watching it. Thank you for starting me on the path.
So proud of you Matt! I couldn’t hold my tears, the video was so inspirational, AMAZING!
The end was so put together that I’m sitting crying my eyes out 😭😭 I felt that I was cheering you on even though this posted was in June 🤣

Congrats Matt! What a legend for seeking discomfort.
Why he left??
Vinay Vardhan Singh problems with his visa cause of a thing with turkey where he is from so had to move
I went from in shape to fat and my latest ex I got addicted to drugs and alcohol and finally fired. very proud of him completing the ironman, which is insane, but the clock behind him, when he finishes, says 12h08... seems a bit fishy to me..
* edit : just checked the official results. It is correct, my bad!
Florent De Deken he had hugs fo 10 minutes maybe
@@florentdedeken yeah even I was like oh he missed by 8 mins, but yeah.
Ironman now uses staggered starts that's why it says 12:08 Matt started 10 minutes after the fastest athletes
www.active.com/triathlon/articles/6-faqs-on-ironman-s-new-swim-starts?page=2
Florent De Deken that's because they have one running timer that starts as soon as the first whistle or horn or whatever goes off but since they have so many people some start way farther back so their time doesn't start until they get to the start line
All the complete feels!! A true inspiration! Congrats on your biggest accomplishment!!!
