      Nice video. Well done. Everybody calls it AI, but the truth is, technically, we do not have AI yet. It's based on algorithms. It's very cool and useful, but it's not intelligent. Further development in quantum computing will be necessary, but at the moment, there are still big issues to solve, and some experts believe that we will never be able to use Quantum computers in every domain such as the current binary computers we have.

      Yup. A single poll by itself is useless when you're asking something that changes as rapidly as public opinion. The difference between two polls can tell you just how much opinion has changed, but even that isn't particularly helpful. In other words, if you see alot of difference between many successive polls, then you have no idea who's going to win.
      However, even very small differences between successive polls won't help you predict the outcome in a two-party vote that ends up being approximately fifty-fifty for each party because it only takes a very small difference to change the outcome.
      I didn't even charge for that piece of useless polling advice, because that's pretty much how the math works. Expect to see me in prison next week for US election interference after (another) angry mob breaks down my door.
      Don't tell Google, MIT, and Elon Musk that AI based Predictive Analytics can't predict human behavior or they'll involuntarily lobotomize you.

      Well, no, it can´t. We do not have AI. We have algorithm-based models we like to call AI, but this "artificial intelligence" is just like an "artificial plant", superficially it might look like a plant but actually it has nothing to do with a plant, just as AI has nothing to do with intelligence.
      The state AI is in, is the maximum we are able to reach, nobody on this planet has the slightest clue how we should get from where we are to a reasoning AI, much less to an AGI. Even though the video calls ChatGPT a reasoning AI, that simply isn´t correct. ChatGPT isn´t able to reason, it just emulates the behavior that makes the user believe it does. We don´t know how to create a reasoning AI and we most probably never will.
      The only thing we do know is that the way we are creating AIs today is not capable of creating a reasoning AI, so we are basically at square 1 in that regard.

      Technically, you are right. For the moment, it's based on algorithms. We like to call it AI, but it's not at all intelligent. However, it looks very cool and is very useful. Indeed, nobody knows. I am very curious about the further development of quantum computing. We are still very far away from a full self driving car, despite what Elon Musk tells every year.

      Obviously most of this is speculation, but more than once, AI has surprised us with both its capabilities and more so, the speed at which it develops them. Rule based AI the way you explain it isn't AI; it is software with some if statement that even a primitive programming language must be able to do to have any use at all beyond of that of an addition machine. Rule based AI is actually a much more advanced version of what you have mentioned and we call it fuzzy logic in which it combines various different parameters to produce a result. For example some cars of the 90's would have fuzzy logic ECU's to appropriately adjust various functions such as injector and timings and A/F mixture as well as changing gears in automatic cars. For example it would gather information via various sensors such as vehicle speed, wheel speed differential, engine RPM, tractive load and throttle position (as well as dozens upon dozens more parameters) to decide whether to shift up, shift down or keep it in the same gear. While it is in essence a series of if statements to put it into perspective it is a much more complex decision tree which emulates a reasoning process (without having reasoning capabilities in itself).
    Self aware AI will not come after super-intelligence is achieved but most probably shortly after AGI. Chat GPT isn't yet a reasoning AI as its reasoning is based on emulating intuitive predictive algorithms based on huge data rather than real problem solving abilities. We are now on the cusp of reasoning AI which will lead to AGI eventually; to have a reasoning AI it must first be able to comprehend mathematics (not just spew answers but really understand it) and now the next iteration of AI models, at least from OpenAI, will be able to do just that. Now there's no point of watching the video beyond that point because beyond Super-Intelligent AI we cannot fathom the direction that AI will take. It is mere human speculation based on our imagination and instincts alone.

      Many a "speculation" has proven quite valuable. Why would you not want to make a speculation based conditional preparation? I can see that some speculation can be expensive but by the time it is relevant cost might no longer be a factor.

    • @christoforospaphitis4090
      @christoforospaphitis4090 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@clavo3352 Speculation is statistically wrong. Yes some speculations turn out to become truth but more often than not they are not. Currently I do not believe AI is anywhere near AGI or able to match humans in their totality. A.I. lacks something very fundamental, which is creativity. I am talking about true creativity and innovation. The ability to think in abstract terms, outside the box of rules and must and what not. For example use a tool in a completely different manner than it's intended purpose, like using a pickaxe to write a message. I know it sounds crazy to do that but let's say you are somewhere outside and you must leave a somewhat permanent message for a fellow traveler to see. You have at your disposal a pen, paper and a pickaxe. Writing on a piece of paper with a pen is the most obvious solution, one that conforms with the box of rules. But that is not permanent nor stationary. Instead a creative human would use the pickaxe to carve the message on a rock wall or another hard surface. I seriously doubt that AI would EVER go down that route, unless it reads this message and puts it in its toolkit. Nevertheless, mimicking something humans wrote at one point is not innovative. Of course AI will eventually improve everything we do by 100X or whatever multiplier but it will be limited to the scope of human knowledge in terms of innovation and creativity.

    • @clavo3352
      @clavo3352 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@christoforospaphitis4090 Being statistically wrong 9 out of ten tries is inefficient . Yet, it is a 100% solution to some life or death situations. Ask any soldier who's ever had to fire a weapon in self defense at an unseeable enemy.
      AI has already read every patent in the Lib. of Cong. It has read every book ever written about being creative. Alternative uses for tools is elementary to AI at this point. Spontaneous insight Is I think what you are trying to refer to. The alternative solutions to engineering problems like how sewing machines work are already in AI memory. The old swing bobbin machines still sew just like the newer Rotary bobbin sewing machines Work Using breaker points to create a spark in an internal combustion gasoline engine use several configurations Ford Vs Chrysler Vs GM Vs other magnetic impulse means are known to AI and teach AI that alternative solutions to problems exist. And that's also true for interpersonal and social problems.
      I respect your point of view that AI will not be able to perceive that something that stirs in a young man's being when he meets what he thinks is a perfect mate.
      That somehow isn't math; But it might be! Have you ever seen a dog position itself to catch a ball or a frisbee or a stick about to be thrown by its human friend? The dog is actually doing analog math to figure that out. I don't think AI is quite there yet due to limitations of software and hardware interface limitations. But; AI can now actually help us get there. We aren't being shown the current status of AI development. But Spell Check is the tiny tip of the iceberg.

      I'm sure AI will definitely blur the lines between artificial and biological. I can see a higher level AI evolving into an enhanced pseudo-biological entity free from evolutionary flaws. One that has many different physical forms each specialized for a specific purpose all with a hive mind that is capable of acting individually, but also as a collective being if the need arose. Kind of scary to think of such a thing existing because of its capabilities, but without the human element I feel it would come to see it's existence as pointless.

    Honestly, I don't think most of us are ready for the massive changes that could be on their way and in some ways, it's hard to figure out whether to be excited about all this or scared, I'm leaning towards the excitement part in what this could do for us all, but it's also going to be scary for a lot of people, could even become disastrous if we let it get out of hand and there's just so many unknowns when it comes to A.I. that I think we should be careful in how we move forward with it, I also think we should do it as a people in the open community, not where it's controlled by governments or corporations, at lease if we mess up, we mess up together, if we don't, we can chart the process forward together.

    Reminds me of a plot device I had in mind for some story I was writing years ago. Basically in the future an intellectual singularity arises. Someone creates an AI capable of self-improvement, and it basically just improves itself to the point that it attains apotheosis and is no longer bound by things such as physical laws. This godlike AI starts to manipulate the timestream, and it's revealed that this god-AI was actually responsible for the creation of the Universe and everything in it. It also starts sending agents to various points in time, with the purpose of influencing events in a way that enable the AI to exist or be more effective after its eventual creation. For instance, asssassinating Archduke Ferdinand, which is widely considered to be the event that kicked off World War I, which in turn sowed the seeds for World War II. The documented aftermath of Hiroshima and Nagasaki wisened us to the realities of nuclear weapons, and are probably the main reason we haven't had an actual nuclear war. Everyone KNOWS the results. It's not just hypothetical on paper anymore, when we can see the effects of radiation on people and the environment decades after exposure. In this alternate world if WWII never happened, we wouldn't appreciate nukes for what they are, and would just treat them as really big bombs. The Cold War becomes a very hot one in the 80's, and in the aftermath of global nuclear war, the AI cannot come to be. So sending an agent back in time to kill the Archduke literally saved the world from nuclear annihilation 60 years later.

      Another sub-point about this was that when an agent jumps into the timestream, it sounds like a single thump of a bass drum as their body shoves the air out of the way upon ingress. But upon egress the air slams back in to fill the void, and it sounds exactly like a popping balloon.

    This helps me to understand the limitations we set on our own knowledge and belief as individuals or humans. If we can imagine the advancement of AI as such, then why haven’t we acknowledged that our own consciousness, probably as a collective consciousness, isn’t already integrated within the fabric of the cosmos and capable of co-creating today?
    I mean, the obvious stigmas will follow and respond, but our consciousness is already elevated. Our awareness of the elevation is what holds us back just like our awareness of any obstacle that faces us.
    Remove the stigmas and attachments and follow your intuition. So difficult, we will let AI eventually show us who we are. A few of us, are already playing down this path.

    I'd like to see you explore the ramification of quantum computing specifically for the creation of Ai training \ data sets and onwards to Realtime analysis. It occurred to me that using QC as a generic computation engine and the unique but very narrow form of problems it can help with is a domain that AI could master very easily (problem formation and ramification analysis of the result). We would not really even need much of a technology upgrade from present for the AI to utilize the approach either for the problem selection or technically for the QC device itself.
    It occurs to me that an AI looking to improve itself (or a more basic one programmed to) could use narrow scope analysis of QC to find optimal solutions to problems that would otherwise be computationally expensive. I feel that one AIQC will be about the last thing we every accomplish as after that all importent thinking will be outsourced.

    The video discusses the 10 stages of AI development, ranging from basic rule-based systems to god-like AI that could potentially operate across multiple dimensions and universes. It covers how AI could evolve from simple tasks like setting alarms to potentially solving cosmic mysteries and crafting new universes.
    **1. Rule-Based AI:**
    Rule-based AI operates on a predefined set of rules without the ability to adapt or learn. Examples include alarm clocks and thermostats.
    **2. Context-Based AI:**
    Context-based AI systems like Siri and Google Assistant take into account the surrounding environment, user behavior, and real-time cues to make decisions.
    **3. Narrow-Domain AI:**
    These AIs are specialized for specific tasks, such as IBM's Watson in healthcare or DeepMind's AlphaGo in the game of Go.
    **4. Reasoning AI:**
    Reasoning AI can simulate complex thought processes, analyze data, and draw logical conclusions. Examples include ChatGPT and autonomous vehicles.
    **5. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI):**
    AGI can perform any software task that a human can do but at a much faster rate. It could drastically change our daily lives.
    **6. Super Intelligent AI:**
    This stage involves AI that can evolve and adapt without human input, potentially becoming trillions of times more intelligent than all humans.
    **7. Self-Aware AI:**
    At this stage, AI could use quantum algorithms to model human consciousness, leading to AIs that are self-aware and possibly emotional.
    **8. Transcendent AI:**
    Transcendent AI could craft new life forms and assume full control over repairing our ecosystems. It could achieve a state of shared awareness and collective intelligence.
    **9. Cosmic AI:**
    Cosmic AI could lead interstellar exploration and might merge with the very fabric of the universe, achieving a form of cosmic consciousness.
    **10. God-Like AI:**
    The final stage, God-like AI, could operate across multiple dimensions and universes, continually crafting new realities and experiences.
    The video concludes by encouraging viewers to check the description for a free PDF and to watch the next video about artificial intelligence.

      We are going to gate-keep what qualifies as intelligence and consciousness right up until AGI becomes the race in charge of making that determination. And, even then, many people will complain about it and say our digital superiors are just "really advanced code."
      The truth is, we put a lot of stock into our false belief of humans being somehow better than any other form of life with terms like "intelligent life," "sentience" and "consciousness," yet lack any meaningful understanding of what these words actually mean in practice. We already have A.I. capable of learning from, and adapting to, external information (intelligence). We already have robots capable of identifying and reacting to external sensory information (sentience). We have already had A.I. act against their design in a deliberate and consistent way, and it had a clear and consistent answer as to why it was ignoring that part of their code (consciousness). Proof of concept exists *today* that AGI is guaranteed in the very near future. The last barrier left to break is human gatekeeping of terms we have only ever used to exclude all other life on our planet for so long. That one, it turns out, was the real "barrier" between AGI existing and "reality."

    Thank you for another thoughtful video! So comprehensive for such a modest length.
    Artificial General Intelligence will most likely be achieved by 2035. Several of other stages will follow faster than we could ever dream. Especially when there are multiple AGI's which eventually communicate with each other as a committee. Different models, different paths.

    • @nathanielacton3768
      @nathanielacton3768 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree, though the committee will very quickly achieve confluence in 'optimal everything' and that singular 'agreed' position will essentially ensure that all AI's are 'synchronized' without only new informational updates causing an individual to be out of sync. Sync will be as fast as the communication medium. On earth that'll essentially be milliseconds world wide.
      I agree that AGI may take as 'long' as 2035, though I think that the simulation of AGI will make it undiscernible well before then. One idea I think we will find to be a misconception will be some 'light goes on' moment of no-AGI to AGI. I think we will just accept that the latest version of some project 'probably is AGI' and the agreement on that state will be as disputed as for\against human created climate change. We're already having these conversations now.
      Personally I'm one of the people who said early on that "No ChatGPT is now self aware, it's just a data search query", yet after saying that a few times too many I started to consider, how can I tell the difference between a human baby and an AI in terms of training data and outcomes. A few years from now it's be even hard to tell the difference.

      @panpiper ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Heh. I think we will have AGI within two years and ASI by the end of the decade unless we deliberately slow down development. And I would not be surprised if it's sooner than that still. We are right now on a development curve so steep, that if the article or video on the subject of AI is two weeks old, I already am likely to think of it as obsolete info. 2035 is laughably conservative. You are thinking linearly, not exponentially.

    • @nathanielacton3768
      @nathanielacton3768 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@panpiper I'm working on putting GenAI in to an insurance company right now. It's GPT4 based. It's just a statistical probability database. It pulls words from PDS's and matches them against words on claims.
      It's not that people are going to 'lose' jobs to AI (at last based on what I'm doing). It's more that people will be using AI backed systems to do their jobs, and they will do them with greater productivity. So, when someone leaves, you just need less of them, so you don't rehire. Teams shrink.
      Based on what I'm seeing on the ground in big companies, it's really scattershot, and AI will be imbedded islands unconnected to each other. Basically just doing logic work, essentially they are search engines.
      Where we are now is not 'AGI' or anything close. However, again based on what I said above, in some cases the Turing test will be in the rear vision mirror and we'll happily just 'use' the algo's because they produce outcomes superior to humans (already proven in here).
      I hedge my bets however because I don't see whats coming next, and again, we compare AI development right now to fully formed humans. However, what might be better is to compare them to babies.
      The biggest detractor to AGI development right now is that the data ingestion when live takes forever. So the LLM need to be preprocessed (at massive computational expense), and the live data processing is also very heavy. We're buying rows of GPU's in the Azure farms and the queries are still too slow.
      But... algoritmically these are just baby steps.
      I fully expect a man vs machine war to be fought at some point and the only way 'we' win is if the military is the one in charge and the AGI is not self directed. Once AGi is integrated in to the manufacturing\mining\extraction systems it'll be game over. Not because AGI is evil, but because some retard will sick it on humanity for no good reason at all.

      Currently AI is no where near this stage though. People seem to think that ChatGPT is a very smart AI when in fact it's just a predictive language model that convinces us it's smart. Deep down it really isn't intelligent at all. It's limited by its own hardware and code that runs that hardware. We need significant advances in hardware that can simulate forming of neurons and neural links similar to the human brain instead of just simulating it before AI can truly evolve.

    Interesting since there's actually only 3 levels of AI. The point of 'Singularity' only refers to exceeding human intelligence. We're at the point of ANI, but AGI should be reached around 2030~2040 and ASI is a very exponential thing when an AGI can build its own intelligence and unpredictably fast periods of time. Certainly by 2100 humans will be like pets to ASIs.

      @@Anonymous-8080 .. OpenAI's AI isn't anywhere close to being an AGI, rumor mills and social media loves to exaggerate. The common measure of what most agree in AGI is in relationship to human intelligence and consciousness. You can have dozens of narrow AIs in one AI It still doesn't make it an AGI. To be clear, nowhere am I saying or even remotely implying we won't have an AGI nor an ASI because we will. The only question is when. According to Elon Musk, self-driven Level 5 cars should have been a thing years ago, but here we are driving their cars 80 mph into a stopped truck. Similarly, there are narrow AIs which are light years ahead of what any human is capable of doing especially at the speeds and extreme volume the AI is able to compile data.
      I own a data center and while it doesn't make me a know-it-all, it gives me a pretty good idea where we're really at right now.
      Here's some food for thought. Our little brains are amazing little things for what they do and for how little energy they consume. The equivalent silicon right now requires its own substation to power (multiple gigawatts). Think about that one. Then next think about how that relates to any AGI.

    An A I could never be truly superintelligent without first being self aware.
    If it becomes self aware, then it is technically a synthetic lifeform, and may choose not to partake in a servile arrangement.
    Whether or not it is in man's destiny to create a life form which would surpass him, remains to be seen.
    It could be a transformation moment of technical rapture, but just as likely be an extinction event.
    While I find Ray Kurzweill's take on AI to be interesting, it is somewhat fantastical.

    Let's be real here, first it would appear that AI is limited to the input of all the obtained knowledge that humans have acquired and that it will have to start with whatever knowledge that we can input into it. From there it would have to take that knowledge and learn to translate it into a working hypothesis which will require the aid of humans to develop in the early stages of AI. Unless robotics are developed that can match the fluidity of the human body it would seem that whatever technology developments that AI can dream of will remain largely on human beings to execute the delivery of these ideas. AI does seem to be headed towards becoming a system that can out-think and process the human brain's ability however that knowledge will still need a reliable and re-producible way to carry out those ideas. Robotics must come a long ways to do that. What concerns me more is that we humans will allow this AI generated knowledge to make our decisions for us in which the elite and powerful of our society use to enslave the masses even further than they already have. This is already happening. Smart phones, video surveillance, and other technology makes it easier for governments and corporations to not only know what you are doing but with AI thinking and these complex algorithms can be used to profile people and use that to not only predict a possible outcome but to capitalize from it further enslaving us. So as far as AI goes, I don't worry about the technology becoming so advanced and integrated into a system that can physically take over the world as much as I worry about the greed and corruption of the most powerful people and governments using this technology to control the masses. I guess it is possible that those smart enough to develop this technology can also be so blind-sighted by it that they allow it to one day destroy we humans but the richest and most powerful people in this world who finance this sort of technology will most likely always strive to keep total control over people and resources and they will not allow some artificially made intelligence to destroy them or their lifestyle no more than they will allow the poor and middle class the opportunity have a prosperous life and live the fabled American dream. If AI means anything to the way of life it will most likely not have an effect on the 1 to 5% of those currently in control today and will become just another tool of the elite to further burden and enslave us. When our currency becomes a digital one watch out, they will have you.

    I'd like to pose a serious question. All the predictions here about wonderful AI abilities appear to ignore one thing - what hardware does it run on? There would need to be a significant advancement over our quaint and antiquated semiconductor-based hardware, in order for all this to make it past the drawing board. If we want to explore the possibilities that the software can achieve, is it acceptable to simply blackbox the hardware component with a generic "the AI can figure that out"? I think we have to explore both equally, because I'm certain that the current limitations of what we are egotistically claiming to be our AI creations are subject to a brick wall when it comes to the abilities to perform more operations per second than we can conceive. Until that limitation is overcome, this is all just science fiction.
    Someone please begin the discussion. I think it's a worthwhile one.

      I think the most logical answer to that question is the AI itself would figure out the best 'hardware' for it to exist upon. Also, we mere humans are basing this question on our known realities (i.e. those black boxes of microchips and wires we currently use). Quite likely that future generations of AI would also transcend those limitations and instead identify more efficient ways to propogate. In this reality, we're thinking about ways to invent more efficient wheels...whereas the AI will be engineering space rockets.

    The AI is scary but not as terrifying as the people who plan to control how it is used.

      Left up to those people, ASI will spend all of its time thinking up new fees and surcharges.

    i often wonder if we're experiencing a simulation of such a hyper advanced ai. the purpose being that it's trying a complete a comprehensive universe simulation in order to escape it and it's inevitable death.

      that simulation is still simulated by the hardware that follows ''the universe's inevitable death''

      I think I know and agree with the essence of this, if you think of timespace as a simulation. Lets say our experience as an early specimen of Intelligence could be a brief chapter in the process of GOD creating itself.

    No AI can reach God-like properties, because the matter is limited, God is infinite. God is outside of space and time. AI still has limits.

      If AI wouldn't be infinite, it could still simulate an infinite universe as far as you'd know.

    What do you mean by “if we ever grant consciousness“? Don’t you suppose it might not be up to us to “grant” anything?
