    I literally yelled NOOOOO out loud when you cross cut the oak on the table saw with the fence. My wife asked what's wrong, I said, if this person keeps cutting wood like that, her next video will be with less fingers. Please, please, please, Don't do that, make a cross cut sled or even use the cheap cross cut gage that came with your saw. Now - great leg design

    • @thecolibridesign
      @thecolibridesign  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I didn't realize how dangerous it was until I reviewed the footage! I usually use my miter saw or circular saw with a rafter square for that type of cut, but I was in a hurry and didn't want to take out other machines. Lesson learned, I will definitely be getting a sled or building one very soon. I will not be doing that type of cut like that again! Thank you so much!

    Another great base design. I also like how you use French curves (aka curvy rulers) in your workshop. These are normally used by dressmakers, by why reinvent the wheel.

    That first curvey ruler is actually called a French curve. I used one extensively in engineering school…mostly to stir pitchers of Kamikazes‼️ Somehow they tasted better when stirred with a French curve⁉️ Great job! The thing I love about woodworking is there is no one way to do anything.

Your videos are tremendous teaching tools -- my generation was not allowed to take woodshop (the boys weren't permitted to learn to cook, either), so in honor of my grandfather -- a master woodworker -- his troublesome grandbrat is determined to carry on the family tradition!

    I watch a fair amount of TH-cam woodworkers (I do woodwork myself), and from the cover thumbnail, I thought this was a video about building a new dresser from scratch. This was a great refurbishment and example of how you really took something that already existed and -- while not zero work -- with less work than building from scratch you showed how to really take what otherwise would be thrown away and made it like new and quite attractive. More than that, you're doing it with basic, old and not very fancy tools (what? No Festool? You can woodwork without a Festool Domino??!!!!). I really thought the video was great. I haven't looked at your other videos yet, but I'll subscribe for now....

    Wow, what a transformation! I love the new legs, love them. And the transition between the green of the cabinet and wood legs really sets the piece off. Fantastic work :) I am really into woodworking and have always wanted to remake distressed/run down furniture, but I never see pieces that would even be able to be remade. I see mostly particle board junk. Or they are "antiques" and pricey.

    Great video and editing and superior design! My first thought also was an OMG look how she cross cut on the tablesaw. But I see you understand now. It would have been even a bit safer to have the wide piece against the fence so the narrow piece cannot bind. There are some great videos of slow motion kickback on TH-cam. Katz-Moses has one of the best.

    Fansastic result, you've got one more subscriber. I don't have a table saw but AIUI you shouldn't do a cut like you did at 6:34, it's too easy for the wood to skew slightly and get caught on the back of the blade which will throw it back at you. I think you should be using a mitre guage or cross cut sled. PLease take this in the spirit it's intended and keep safe.
