Watching the earliest Crimewatch episodes, I'm astonished by the quality of the reconstructions. They're short films, essentially. They weren't like that later on.

    The somewhat surreal flashback to 1981, of the robbery at Asda, in Leeds, which is portrayed at the start of the programme, is very good, because, in my opinion, it totally captures the fear and the feeling of "this can't be happening" which the poor victims would have no doubt, been thinking, during the robbery.

    • @zeddeka
      @zeddeka 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The criminologist Professor David Wilson said that if we really care about stopping murder, we have to understand about how society "stops caring about" or indeed actively resents certain groups and that makes them so much more vulnerable to murder because they're pushed to the edge of society. That includes prostitutes, the elderly and gay men.

    • @joshuaedwards4536
      @joshuaedwards4536 ปีที่แล้ว

      The police suspect Alun Kyte of being responsible for her murder, as well as another prostitute's murder as well, but they didn't have enough evidence to charge him with it, and neither would he admit to it either, I hope her children found some peace in their lives, as they're probably in their 40s by now, R.I.P Angel Yvonne Coley.....🙏🙏🙏

    The Bedgebury Forest murder was featured again sometime in the 1990s - at least I’m fairly certain it was as I didn’t start watching CW until ‘88 and recall an appeal about an unknown murder victim in poor quality garments, with terrible dental hygiene and an ectopic pregnancy, and that’s too much of a coincidence.
    Looks like a lorry driver was tried for the murder in 2000, but was unanimously found not guilty by the jury.

    Crimewatch was just brilliant back then, firing on all cylinders. Nick and Sue the perfect measured, understated presenters, excellently created reconstructions focusing on small details and then the incident desk also really well done.
    I hated the 2008-2015 version, Kirsty Young strutting around the studio, pontificating on every case, having her two pennys worth, graphic frenzied reconstructions, detectives speaking while the camera constantly zooms in and out.....

      Why Crimewatch is *actually* to me at this precise moment better off axed to be honest, unless the Beeb *really does* get serious about having this type of monthly/semi-annual etc public information programme again on any of their channels, which is *very* doubtful. I imagine if they do bring this back under their current terms, it will *no doubt* just be that god-damn Rav Wilding whatever his name leaving off were Kirsty Young did, along with everything else you mentioned. 🙄

    I could be wrong, but I think that the blonde actress with a speaking role shown alongside the blue van at 33.30 could be Sammi Davis, who played the part of "May" in the 1986 film, "Mona Lisa". Her Birmingham accent is just as distinctive in this Crimewatch clip as it is in "Mona Lisa" and a film from 1991 called "Horseplayer".

      @@ajc94 there's no realistic way that you could establish any such thing to the contrary.
      What you're saying works on the supposition, that their birth was actually registered with the state to begin with, which of course they're not always.
      I certainly wouldn't register my ascendants, nor would I wish for when I go, for mine to register me either.
      I never asked for my birth to be registered with "the" state (but somebody chose to deceive my mother (whose death isn't registered either)) when I was born, so why should I consent to the state doing so after I've gone??
      Also, who actually has firsthand knowledge of the day that they were born? Do you??
      It is technically hearsay to provide one's own date of birth, but a completely normal, everyday practice (despite being completely unlawful).
