Having to pay $20 is a bummer but the parking is so crazy in the busy season that it seems like there are no other choices.
The other choice is to keep it as is: FREE.
I hate what the PacNW is becoming...
California.
That's what happens when you stop improving transit service. LA Metro is going to catch up to Trimet if we keep resting on our laurels.
Let’s be clear, Sasquatch is owned and operated by someone from Washington and ODOT is complicit not providing a free shuttle that the community has been asking for, in addition this is not legal within a national scenic corridor that is provided federal funding.
The Hillsboro area is classic California city gobbling up of all the smaller towns such as Aloha, Reedville, Orenco, Somerset West etc. I`m an an almost extinct species as a native born Oregonian having seen many changes not for the good in my 68 years living here. Too much greed in businesses too. The old time businesses are all still good but are retiring fast, only to be replaced by inferior providers of services.
Yup Califoronians 🤡🤡
@@frafraplanner9277 Transit service without security is worthless! Have used in past as get tired of dealing with traffic & expense. Need to have security on every light rail train with properly trained officers equipped with tools to enforce rules & keep druggies off & out of system.Gave up using transit because of all the dangerous experiences we saw & just lucky enough to avoid.
Land of the fee.
That`s the truth! Boat ramps in Tillamook county where once you could park at & watch people launch & retrieve boats or use the restrooms along the Nehalem river now require a FEE pass to park in even if you`re not using the ramp for boat launching!
deterrent for sure $20 is too much $3 ok $6 meh pass $20 are you kidding me ridiculous!!!
These owners are criminals basically. 😒
This is absolute bullshit
Its a beautiful place. Glad I got to see it. Have to add this to the places I only visit on TH-cam. Sad...
Fee everywhere!
Glad I’ve been there done that. Just like ski areas, make everything accessible only to those with means.
Yep! only the rich will play & visit the rec. areas from now on.
Welcome to California, folks
That's an expensive Insta Selfie....
20 dollars! Rediculous really! It's a detergent alright we live here it's our backyard no more getting in the car for a drive stopping at the falls for a few minutes next you'll be charging to drive the Gorge highway oh and while your at it charge for all the other falls and crown pt I'm sure your all ready on it 🥸🤡🤡🤡
Detergent?
@@yettimannettii2039 whoa ! didn't catch my spell check 😒
*deterrent
@@suebraschio6763 Ahh
I`m more fortunate than most having been to many most of the fabulous scenic areas with my parents before all the fees & crowds destroyed the enjoyment of these special places. I will have my memories but no longer can afford to share or make new memories with younger people due to costs of travel & fees when you arrive there.
$20 for parking I will never go there again
Those are rookie numbers gotta bump it up to $40.00
Sh..Don`t give the operators any ideas.
Who parks in that lot to begin with? Just park off the highway in the massive lot and walk through the tunnel.
Is this lot not the one with the tunnel? I’m confused.
What an A-hole move...
$40 million /year based on a 2 million man, annual visitorship?
Y'all know Herbie's going to abuse his sick days and waste half of that.
guy in the sasquatch hat thounds tho thilly
Bay Area acthent
PNW Become Social state like California:
Locals Only!!!
Locals love you pay. Enjoy.
@@kattycat3502 What?
@@kattycat3502Adventure obscure you hear. Explain.
wont relieve congestion, it will just make money..give me a break
Yikes!
There NEEDS to be regional rail service in the Columbia River Gorge.
There is rail service already
@@yettimannettii2039 I only know of freight service in the Gorge. There is a tourist railway running along the Hood River.
No, There does not. You think it's packed now!! That's a horrible idea.
@@frafraplanner9277 Yes. Freight Service. Hop aboard and get off where ever you want. It would be totally free too.
I remember when I was a kid and Amtrak used to run on the Oregon side. It made stops at The Dalles, Hood River, and Cascade Locks.
What a shame, who thought this was a good idea? They’ve turned it into a clown shit show there. Unbelievable money grab, is this even legal? The paved paradise put up a parking lot.
Greed
I'm totally fine with this if they provide the right incentives to improve parking utilization and fund shuttles. For example, one thing that will be important is that you pay less if you take a spot for less time. Taking one of those spots for the whole day for free is a terrible incentive. This change should cause more people to have spots to see it. They should also alter pricing to be more expensive on days that it will be popular.
They really need to require a parks pass for the entire historic highway.
I'M NOT PAYING NOTHING, I HAVE BEEN GOING THERE SINCE I WAS A KID, IT WILL BE A BAD DAY FOR ANYONE THAT TRIES TO CHARGE ME FOR HIKING UP THERE, I MEAN A BAD DAY
