    When in AP mode, set the SSID the same as your isp router, and turn off the WiFi in the isp router, then you have no conflicts, so the isp router has control off assignments and any static IP’s, whilst the deco just takes control of the WiFi 👍🏻

    Is it possible to have only one deco and this one deco to connect as AP to my ISP router wirelessly?

    I still can`t understand what is the difference between router mode and access point. My main Deco is connected via cable to the service provider modem, so I understand the preferred setup would be access point? I still haven`t tested it this way, but currently with router mode set I'm disappointed with speed. We have two Deco M5 for a 500mb internet connection, the second one is like 20 meters apart from the main one and speed there is lower by 70%, don`t know what I'm doing wrong

      if you want max speed off that second deco unit you would need to wire it up to the first one with network cable.

    I have 4 tp-link m5's. Working great everywhere in my house and in the back of my garden (10 meters dept). But it is possible to control the deco network from your computer. You just need to have the IP address of the main deco and enter that in the browser, use your deco network password and your in. In most modems you will find a page with a oversight of all connected devices where you can find the ip of the main deco.

      No problem, however, I have to correct my self a little. When accessing the tp-link devices by webbrowser you get a oversight of your configuration. See all devices that are connected to the network. You can manually upgrade the firmware. Check and if needed change the system time. Reboot. enable or disable IGMP (not sure what that does). But you can't do the actual configuration through the webbrowser. That's something you indeed need to do in the Deco App on your phone or tablet.

    Great video dude. I have a fleet of Deco M5's spread across my home.
    Maybe my findings below might be off help to you and the rest;
    1:30 -> Correcting this.
    You're still able to logon to the Deco web-gui interface via web browser from your desktop/laptop. Follow normal procedures of finding the IP address of your main Deco (eg; 192.168.0.1)
    Just note this;
    > Functionalities are limited. For basic monitoring purposes its worth visiting.
    > Features like "Reboot" is still enabled for browser access. You can even reboot all Deco's simultaneously.

    Hi!! Does this Deco keeps the meshing feature while using in access point mode? Currently my topology is ISP Modem in bridge -> Mikrotik router -> Dlink router only as Wi-Fi (this router does not have AP mode, so have double source NAT to reach internet from my wireless internet network), and I’m planning to get a pack of 2 nodes of this Decos. Thanks for the video. Just a question, when changing the deco's to Router mode, did you make the SSID and Password the same as your original router/modem where you plug the deco into, or are they still 2 separate SSID's or did you disable the router one? Any recommendations for this in Router mode?

      did you find an answer to this? I am in the exact same position as you.
      I also would like to know if I need to disable my ISP's router wifi when using the DECOs in AP mode. I'm guessing there's no point in using the ISP's router wifi any more (even if its the same network), because it wont be a part of the mesh - therefore my devices won't switch to it seamlessly. Would be better to just put a deco in its place?

      @@GrumpyMansREVIEWS Did you switch off DHCP on modem and let the DECO handle? I had issues both with the WIFI and DHCP on the modem had to call provider to remotely disable, and turn off DHCP as that was creating some issues for me initially. I have had mine for two days, and not very impressed at the moment, except it beats a WIFI extender. I have three levels - (basement, first floor, attic) to spread the WiFi through and cement floors here to deal with. My setup is DECO into the Modem (WIFI on Modem switched off) in basement, one Deco on main floor very poor signal, and then I have a hardwire to the attic (my office), which is now plugged into the DECO in the basement (via CAT 6). The hardwired DECO in the attic gives me fantastic WIFI @ 200MB/100MB as one would expect, but the middle level relying on 2.4/5G is very poor. I am losing 75% throughput even after trying to find different places to place the DECO, I may need to hardwire there, but seems to defeat some of the purpose of what a MESH network is supposed to be able to do. Maybe I am expecting too much from WIFI across the type of environment I have just moved into. Which system would you try next if you can’t solve the issues?

      Yes I did.
      Have you tried powerline adapter's? They work on the same SSID and password.

    • @AC-kl2ut
      @AC-kl2ut 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GrumpyMansREVIEWS I have tried powerline adapters in the past (in a different house) but did not have great experience with them either, losing a lot of throughput - and it required a different SSID. It seems that part may have been solved these days. I also have different circuit boxes for each floor here, even though they end up at the same MAINS, so was not sure if it would have problems with that. Given how people rave about Mesh, I though I would give it a try. I have also been having issues where my ALEXA devices (even though MESH is turned off for them in the TPLink App) will sometimes try to connect to a router on another floor, which arguably should have a weaker signal most of the time, but it doesn’t switch back seamlessly, Alexa will just not be able to connect to the network.
