@@SunRise-gp3ym paneer or cottage cheese is actually from skimmed milk, while cream chesse is from full fat milk, that is the basic difference, nothing else
Actually it’s harder for Indians to tell the difference because stores here have very little variety. Compared to abroad where you have an entire aisle dedicated just for cheese or just for milk.
Traditionally it was known as Farmer’s Cheese, Fresh Cheese and in other cultures other names. It is the way all cheese starts, though what changes it is how it is cultured and the level of fat in the milk. Cream cheese made with cream and milk will be easier to cream too as the fat level goes up. Ricotta is made with what remains of the curd in the whey, or very low-fat milk. If you overstrain it will be dry and more tricky to cream. If you add back a little of the whey it will cream better for you. Paneer is a type of cream cheese too.
Debolina Kundu I think this is just a quick way to make it for recipes for her viewers who can't find cream cheese. Paneer is made exactly this way. Except it isn't blended, it's set and cut into cubes.
Thank you for the recepie and also i used calcium lactate (the chemical used to curd milk in industries) and it turned out fine and i think its a good option for someone who dont want that lemon flavour in their cream cheese
Super useful thank you. I use cream cheese as a low carb thickening agent instead of flour for things like sausage gravy so seeing how easy it would be to make from fresh raw milk is very exciting.
Omg thank you so much for this recipe! I just tried this out and it turned out fantastic😍It's really helpful as cream cheese is very rare and expensive in my country. Hope you'll keep uploading videos like this!💕
Good evening! I just found your channel! So happy I did! I eat low carb, so I use a lot of cream cheese. I make homemade yogurt; very similar. Thanks again! May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
I have watched this video so many times and it just hit me I have all the ingredients!! So I went and made it, added finely minced garlic and some dried parsley. .........maaannnnnnnnn.....😋😋😋😋😋😋 Gonna make some bread to have that with tomorrow morning!!! Thank you!!! 🌺
I do it with home made yogurt in place of lemon juice. The same procedure first boil milk and here I use low fat milk for health reasons. If you a cup of yogurt start with boiling 4 cups of milk. You won't be getting lemony paneer and whey.
Adi Xoxo paneer is an Indian name for cottage cheese or say cream cheese. You can drain whey in a sieve similarly and keep in a fridge still in the sieve for an hour to make small cubes out of it .Use as a tofu or make famous palak(spinach) paneer.
Excellent recipe. Thx. Tho it takes about a day, I make my own sour cream (cream and a couple Tbs of cultured buttermilk which I keep frozen) at home as well. The flavor profile difference over store bought is amazing even when using 'generic' milk.
I learned probably all basics from this channel and I 😍 the way you teach. I am an Indian and it's really very expensive here, today I made this and it came out really well. I made cream cheese for frosting with your carrot cake. Both credits goes to you. Thank you Gemma 😍
LOL... I remember trying to find cream cheese in Mexico and all the store owners thought I was crazy...I had looked up the appropriate phrase online... still nothing... Apparently in Mexico- at least the area that I was in- they call it by the brand name Philadelphia! #mindblown

Gemma you are fantastic! I love your accent, love even more the recipes you do. No faffing about, just good easy recipes. Thank you so much for sharing and for your time. It is much appreciated, I'm off to make my (your) cream cheese now!
Is there anyway you can do like a "no yeast week" or something? Where you show how to make like pizza dough and cinnamon rolls and pretzels or stuff like that without yeast? Hope you see this :) thanks!
Its basically blended chena/paneer..which we Indians have been making whole life 😊 Bt this vdo cleared our confusion and question regarding cream cheese
i use a blender, personally. works just fine for me, then I obtain smooth cheese. its just a tad difficult to clean; that'll depend on the blender you have. Works just fine for me! :)
If by whipping cream you mean the kind you buy from the store fridge, then you can buy regular cream (the one that comes in boxes and is not refrigerated) and leave in the fridge for at least 12 hours before using. When you want to whip it, add a little sugar and a little lemon juice and whip it, it will work just fine (if you don't add sugar and/or lemon juice it will take longer to whip until soft peaks form)
Try searching for recipes on coconut whipped cream. Not sure where you live, but if a can of full fat coconut milk costs less than the real dairy stuff, then this might be what you're looking for.
Hii! First of all thank you so much for all your great recipes, and more so for these basic ones! I, like a few other commenters here, do get cream cheese in my country but it's veryyy expensive, especially when you need like 4 blocks for 1 cheesecake. I never knew I could make it at home until I came across this! I got my milk and made this recipe, (I trippled it to get 3 blocks, hence 3/4 of the cheese needed for most recipes. Thought it would be a good enough qauntity for a first try). I followed your steps and here's how the experience went. Cream cheese was easy enough to make. It didn't taste exaaactly like the store bought which is understandable obviously, I needed to use it in a cheesecake anyway so I imagined it would taste fine mixed with all other ingredients. Now since the cheesecake recipe I tried out was a first for me itself, I can't be too sure which of these things is at fault. There were a few things I noticed I didnt like as much and hope to counter in the next time I make it. I was hoping you could help me out the best you can. 1) The cream cheese I made wasn't too creamy even after I blended it with it's separated liquid. What I think I should do is blend it a little longer the next time, plus also try blending it with more liquid or cream this time (as you suggested in your video). 2) The end result cheesecake wasn't as creamy and soft as I'd have liked it to be (as it was in the recipe video). Now that could be because of the grittiness in the cream cheese as I mentioned, plus since I 3/4ed the recipe, I may not have gotten a good estimate about baking time, maybe I overbaked it (which I think I did by 5-10 mins). Also maybe I should omit the flour from the cheesecake recipe; it's only 3-4 tbsp but it'll maybe let it be creamier that way? By telling you all this I do not intend to leave this as a "bad review" at all, I'm actually quite relieved to have found this, and I'm just determined to get it right. I'm requesting you to please help me figure out these tiny things so I can get a good creamy cheesecake in the end. It might take a few tries but I feel I can get there. For the love of cheesecake! Really hoping to see your reply!😊
Hi laiba.. Were u making a baked cheesecake? I had once asked a chef first and she said that homemade cream cheese cannot be used in baked desserts coz of the high water content in it .. I am actually looking for someone who tried to bake a cake with it :)
Here in India... Cottage cheese is very very easily available So acc. To Ur recipe - v just need to get cottage cheese from the shop & then just blend it to a paste That's so easy... Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve tried making this and its really amazing. I love the flavor of it. I thought i like this better than the available cream cheese commercially. Just an advice the longer you drain it the thicker it gets so if you want a vey thick cream cheese then drain it like for an hour or more, if not then drain it for about 30mins only. Thanks btw for this recipe.
I am going to try this. I live in the U.K. and cannot get block cream cheese and tub cream cheese doesn't hold up too well when making ccreeam cheese frosting. So hoping this will be a bit more stable and sturdy.
Thank you so much for this recipe. I just made this. I didn’t have cheesecloth so I used the fine mesh coffee filter from my machine, and it then placed it on two paper towels to dry and it still worked perfectly.

I learned that from my mom long time ago , but we not make cream cheese, after we drained we put it in the refrigerator, and in the morning we take some and poured some half and half ,then spread on tost with honey or jam.. now l know how to make cream cheese too 👍
@@SunRise-gp3ym paneer or cottage cheese is actually from skimmed milk, while cream chesse is from full fat milk, that is the basic difference, nothing else
It’s not
Actually it’s harder for Indians to tell the difference because stores here have very little variety. Compared to abroad where you have an entire aisle dedicated just for cheese or just for milk.
Thank you!!!!! I developed lactose intolerance and have missed cheese cake. I can use my lactose free whole milk to make this.😀
I tried this recipe... And I must say this one is a fool proof recipe. Thanks a lot!!! Love my homemade cheese.
I'm delighted to hear that 😊
till today i didn't know that the so called cream cheese is just smoothened paneer(any indians?)
Here
yeah
👋
Traditionally it was known as Farmer’s Cheese, Fresh Cheese and in other cultures other names. It is the way all cheese starts, though what changes it is how it is cultured and the level of fat in the milk. Cream cheese made with cream and milk will be easier to cream too as the fat level goes up. Ricotta is made with what remains of the curd in the whey, or very low-fat milk. If you overstrain it will be dry and more tricky to cream. If you add back a little of the whey it will cream better for you. Paneer is a type of cream cheese too.
Yeah
soo cream cheese is basically paneer
just what i was thinking :P this is how you make ricotta too.
Is panner prepared the same way?
+Debolina Kundu ya but its not processed
+crazy fan4 so basically cream cheese is processed panner / cottage cheese?
Debolina Kundu I think this is just a quick way to make it for recipes for her viewers who can't find cream cheese. Paneer is made exactly this way. Except it isn't blended, it's set and cut into cubes.
I Really enjoy watching this channel. I have tried some items and they always turns out delicious. Thank you for these simple recipes.
Well done, you! Thanks for being here.
This is the best recipe ever 🎉🎉
I'm delighted you think so!
Thank you for the recepie and also i used calcium lactate (the chemical used to curd milk in industries) and it turned out fine and i think its a good option for someone who dont want that lemon flavour in their cream cheese
Good idea if you can get this! :)
U can rinse the curds under cold water as Indians do to remove the lemon. Then blend
I also hate lemon flavour. Tried rinse under water but didnt work.
You don't have to add the lemon juice, right? 😕
calcium lactate is dangerous for your health
This is so easy it's ridiculous. I can't wait to try it. Don't have to worry too much about the impending cream cheese shortage!
Go for it! Click on the link to the recipe in the caption above, to get the full recipe. I hope this helps.
2019...who knew. So good to know!!✌🏻😊
Super useful thank you. I use cream cheese as a low carb thickening agent instead of flour for things like sausage gravy so seeing how easy it would be to make from fresh raw milk is very exciting.
I’m delighted to hear that! go ahead and give this a go!
Oh lord i tried it its amazing the texture is heavennnnllllyyy
Oh my, finally some cream cheese home. I thought it was a difficult process. Thanks
Go for it! Here’s the recipe, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-cream-cheese/
Omg thank you so much for this recipe! I just tried this out and it turned out fantastic😍It's really helpful as cream cheese is very rare and expensive in my country. Hope you'll keep uploading videos like this!💕
I'm delighted to hear that.
Good evening! I just found your channel! So happy I did! I eat low carb, so I use a lot of cream cheese. I make homemade yogurt; very similar. Thanks again! May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
Hi Gemma, I've watch other cream cheese videos and yours is the most simple and easy one. You inspired me . Thank you Gemma, you're the best.
This is great !!! I made this last week for making Japanese Cheese Cake
Wow....that's a plain cottage cheese (before you put it in a food processor) Great! Thanks for the recipe! Love your channel!
Hope you enjoy it with my brand new recipe : www.biggerbolderbaking.com/homemade-white-bread-sandwich-bread/
I do it with home made yogurt in place of lemon juice. The same procedure first boil milk and here I use low fat milk for health reasons. If you a cup of yogurt start with boiling 4 cups of milk. You won't be getting lemony paneer and whey.
Purnima Aakash what is paneer?
Adi Xoxo paneer is an Indian name for cottage cheese or say cream cheese. You can drain whey in a sieve similarly and keep in a fridge still in the sieve for an hour to make small cubes out of it .Use as a tofu or make famous palak(spinach) paneer.
This is the first video I watch from your channel and I'm instantly in love with you you are an amazing cook. Thank you... I am so subscribing.
Thanks a million, Omar!
@@biggerbolderbaking oh thank you for your great videos!
Excellent recipe. Thx. Tho it takes about a day, I make my own sour cream (cream and a couple Tbs of cultured buttermilk which I keep frozen) at home as well. The flavor profile difference over store bought is amazing even when using 'generic' milk.
For sure! It's also that little love you put into it 😉
I learned probably all basics from this channel and I 😍 the way you teach. I am an Indian and it's really very expensive here, today I made this and it came out really well. I made cream cheese for frosting with your carrot cake. Both credits goes to you. Thank you Gemma 😍
I'm delighted to hear that, Aksa. Thank you for sharing.
OMG , THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THIS RECIPE!! Its a life saver right now. Will definitely make this on tuesday
You are welcome! Check the complete recipe in the link provided in the caption above.

Thank you Ms Gemma to all your informative and worthwhile videos. Take care. God bless..
You are welcome.
I'm imagining your fridge to have happy animated food living in it ^_^
Haha! Yes, but not for long! :) :)
How did i just learn so much, with so little, in so little time??
LOL... I remember trying to find cream cheese in Mexico and all the store owners thought I was crazy...I had looked up the appropriate phrase online... still nothing...
Apparently in Mexico- at least the area that I was in- they call it by the brand name Philadelphia! #mindblown
Well, there you go, though the Spanish do love their cheeses, cream cheese may not be their thing! Thank you for that info! :)
yes! a lot of people knows that cheese with the name of the brand but it is actually "queso crema"; it's like with the 'kleenex' brand
im mexican n i can say My family love cheese cream cheese sour cream n u can obviously tell cuz many or the foods n desserts de eat have those in it but if u r asking in spanish it better u say the brand its weird but tht is how they r lol but yea n alzó u can say what the girl said to queso crema 😋

It's called "queso crema" which is said kee-soow kre Emma jiji
I'm fasting right now.. watching to make something for iftar😊
That's a nice way to make it at home. Could you please do an episode on butter substitutes in baking?
Yes! Butter substitutes for baking please!! :)
I think she has a substitute chart on her website
Lameashellcosplay I've checked before, that chart is for egg substitutes.
Solid coconut oil
or even how to make butter
I love your accent!Great recipe, too.
Thanks a million, Kevin! I have 300+ baking recipes so I hope you find some favorites.
Who else loves it when she says this is gonna live in your fridge for....
Gemma you are fantastic! I love your accent, love even more the recipes you do. No faffing about, just good easy recipes. Thank you so much for sharing and for your time. It is much appreciated, I'm off to make my (your) cream cheese now!
I hope it turned out well Lenny. Thank you for the kind words. The support is much appreciated.

Wooow! I never knew cream cheese is actually 'Chaana' .This is the base of many Bengali sweets. The most famous among them is rosogolla!
@Manuj Madan just because you got the GI tag.
Is there anyway you can do like a "no yeast week" or something? Where you show how to make like pizza dough and cinnamon rolls and pretzels or stuff like that without yeast? Hope you see this :) thanks!
Thats curd is what we use for making cottage cheese and rinse whole water , dry and wrap in muslin cloth and shape it to make cottage cheese
What else can be done with the curd? I wouldn't like to throw it away after doing the cheese...
I made your recipe on this cream cheese and it came out great . Easy to follow and don't take long . Thank you for taking the time to share 😊😊😊
Glad you liked it!! Well done, you! Thanks for sharing,
Thank you so much! I live in the Caribbean and its so expensive here!
Its basically blended chena/paneer..which we Indians have been making whole life 😊
Bt this vdo cleared our confusion and question regarding cream cheese
hey gemma can i use blender instead of food processor
Best to use a beater, wooden spoon, whisk :)
i use a blender, personally. works just fine for me, then I obtain smooth cheese. its just a tad difficult to clean; that'll depend on the blender you have.
Works just fine for me! :)
@@brannigandupreez2083 yes you're right. Depends on if you have a good blender or not.
Thank you. I mostly have troubles even trying to find the recipes. But you site was perfect. Cream cheese was so easy to make. Thank you again
I'm happy to hear that!
Thank you for this! I hope you can make a whipping cream substitute video soon as it's really expensive in my country. Thank you so much!
Pour some cream in a bowl, take a whisk and beat it until it is whipped
+pancrinacia dc I've tried this method many times already before, but it just doesn't work for me. :(
+requinox I'll check that out. Thank you! :)
Anybody here at July 2020?

Here in India... Cottage cheese is very very easily available
So acc. To Ur recipe - v just need to get cottage cheese from the shop & then just blend it to a paste
That's so easy... Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you sooooo much! Cream cheese is so expensive here T_T and sometimes it’s not even real cream cheese haha.
Did inside edition bring anyone else here? No just me? Cool.
I was about to comment this 🤣🤣🤣
I was about to comment this 2🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for being here, Andrew!
You know it. Cream Cheese shortage. Need to be prepared. I love my bagels!
4 cups Full cream milk
3 tbsp lemon juice
Pinch of salt
Thank you for being here.
Great to hear! Well said !
I am going to try this. I live in the U.K. and cannot get block cream cheese and tub cream cheese doesn't hold up too well when making ccreeam cheese frosting. So hoping this will be a bit more stable and sturdy.
Ahaa....its Our Paneer...Gemma💐
I don't know
I just don't know how to thank u
**speechless
What's the name of the song playing in the background? I really like it!!
Oh wow, I don't remember this one. Glad you liked it!
Thank you so much for this recipe. I just made this. I didn’t have cheesecloth so I used the fine mesh coffee filter from my machine, and it then placed it on two paper towels to dry and it still worked perfectly.
That's fantastic, Blair! Thank you for trying it out!

yeh philidelphia is like £1.95 but It comes in small amounts
+molly merson oh well then this might be less expensive for you.. in germany you can find very good quality cream cheese (so creamy like philadelphia) for around 70-80 cents and the cheapest milk is like 60 cents.. so its better to buy the cheese 😄 haha
I just realized cream cheese is nothing but our desi paneer 😄😄😄
