19:21 If you're struggling, make sure the bottom bit is going into a mountain fold and it's folding according to the valley folds underneath. Really just double check where your creases are going. I struggled on this for ages too. Don't give up
I used a square of paper from an A4 sheet so now I have an elephant about 5cm high and 6cm long. I'm really happy with how it turned out although there are a few inconsistencies that are mainly due to me not being very good at origami. Thought I would say about the diameters just in case anyone was curious about how big it would come out. In my opinion, if you want to make it bigger or maybe easier on yourself when making it, if you're a beginner perhaps, I would use a larger piece of paper may be from a square from an A3 sheet.
This tutorial is amazing. This is a complex model to fold and it requires pausing and rewinding as you progress through the demonstration. Very clear directions, there is a section where the model is partially unfolded that might pose some difficulty but I found that looking for the shape in the section of the paper he was folding instead of his hands helped guide me through and pausing to make sure I’d caught up before progressing to the next step. The end result is worth all the time and effort that it takes to build this model. Thank you so much for uploading it, I wish I could post a picture of my elephant. Please post more complex models 🙏
I was trying to reply to Vishu_Extreme’s comment that this was a “very bad tutorial. That you were going to fast and that your hands were covering the paper.” I didn’t agree with his/her comment, that the tutorial progressed to fast or that hands covered the paper. I think sometimes people give up on origami because they try to fold really complicated models before acquiring the skill through practice of doing simpler and easier models first and then feel that the tutorials are bad because they can’t follow what it going on when in reality they may need to try a model that may be suited to their skill level.
Loved this model, very realistic and fun to fold. I only wish I had used paper that was the same color on both sides because now half of my elephant is white and the other half is gray
this is my favorite elephant model so far, I love you for doing your work your fumbled a lot in this tutorial, and some steps are unclear, made it hard to follow sometimes, but it's not like i would pay you for the improvement, so pay no mind, it's just a advice with no consequences. I love your work for what it is, and I've finished it, and it's the cutest little elephant I've ever made, thank you
i am in the process of doing it. about to finish. i feel this demonstration overcomplicates stuff. folds that are simple are not done clearly. and he doesnt show the results of complicated folds. at min 20 or something i ended with asimetrical ears and it took me way too long to figure out which one was the mistake.. anyways thanks for the video. without it i could not have done it.
If you don't have specific origami paper around, try using wrapping paper like Kraft and take a big square to start with. Ideally you have really origami paper, like from www.origami-shop.com
@@JMsOrigamiTutorials thank you for the reply. I just made a small elephant with the little bit of wrapping paper i had. Also thank you for uploading these videos. Have a good day.
You should mention that this isn't a tutorial for Sipho's elephant, but rather an interpretation according to his crease pattern, since the feet and the back aren't according to his model but your own interpretation
I'm fairly certain that is the difference between wet folding and dry. You can not make the feet or back without wet folding the pattern. If you look at the original artist's work it is almost all wet fold models.
Hello. I think it is similar but not the same obviously. I grateful about your effort. The paper of the white in the picture is another more flexible and may be it is wet. But i don't know the name of this kind of paper. Also the feet are prettiest in the white one, and it seems to be glue in some parts, but i am not sure. Do you know if it is possible to have the real original after all?thanks and congratulation for your beauty elephant.
Hey! You are of course right, we can't reach a wet folded result like the thumbnail with dry paper in the video. If you can fold the elephant properly you can try to wet fold it, or you can use tissue foil or you can finish the model with Mc glue!
Haha !, I did it, and with cardboard, now I'm painted with tempera the white parts and I made some little horns, it's really great, very nice the origami, does not repair expenses 😁👍👌🐘
Excellent Tutorial! I can see all your steps very clearly thank you so much! Could you please tell me the grey Kami paper make..... it seems Quite strong. The kami papers I have they seem to tear.
Thank You for this wonderful tutorial!!! I`m just a beginner but with your instructions I did the elephant and it really looks like an elephant. I´m so happy!!! Only the feet of the model you are showing for this tutorial are different from the feet you fold at the end of the video.
I did not understand 20:07 AT ALL! I got so lost with it I ripped it into little pieces because no this many times I rewind your hands where I the way, maybe you should show us how the hell u make it
I don't have paper that's big enough for the 50 by 50 cm elephant what is the best option for me? I only have paper that's 45 by 45. Could I have a little help? I really liked how this elephant was made, and I want to fold it.

You could use kraft paper like in the video but then you still need to shape with MC Glue or shape by wetfolding. I would recommend tissue foil.
