Thanks for the lesson. The original artist/ writer was Tom Cochrane. The nearly identical Rascal Flats cover just had more production and promotion. I prefer the original. Hope Cochrane is receiving royalties for his property.
Thanks for this Marty I’ve been looking forward to learning this song because it’s one of my favorites just because of cars and cars is my childhood and I still watch cars and love cars and happy holidays have a good one
Thank you for doing a lesson on this song Marty, this is my favorite song to play on the highway. I Like how helpful your content is for anyone at a specific level in guitar, love your videos.🛣❤🎸
Great little tute, Marty! Im doing this live soon so this helped clarify some stuff. Thanks!! I'd just add that in the pull off of the Bb to A notes in the Bb5 chord, the riff is double speed and does that pull-off twice, then a very quick F5 then the C5 chord. Thanks again - great song!
Still got it 👍! And I just want to say thank you for all you have done I have been playing for 5 months and you have made it so much easier for me so I’ll say it again thank you so very much
If you want a better, more guitary version, search out Tom Cochrane and red rider. It's his song, rascal Flatts copied it exactly, but with less edge. It did make Tom rich though, so I'm sure he didn't mind
Rascal Flatts didn't copy it. They were approached by Pixar to be part of the Cars soundtrack. If they "copied" it, then a lawsuit would have come to fruition. Dweeb
Canadian Tom Cochrane best known for lunatic fringe with his band Red Rider wrote and performed this song. Being Canadian he never gets much credit for it. If you listen to Tom's music would soon realize that this is IMO not even close to being his best song. He has a catalog of great songs.
He’s Canadian? Didn’t know that, definitely prefer his version though. Bro never gets credit 😢. Something even more frustrating is that my friends make fun of me for preferring this. I don’t care to be made fun of, it’s just that his version is the OG and genuinely better.
Hah! Marty, this is such a cool song man! Please consider making a video of the solo one day ( Maybe in your dry season, if there ever is one LOL! ) Heck.... put it in another one of your teachings even in a new course, I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one to buy it 😆 Working on your intermediate course currently, great course man, as always and thanks.
Hey Marty, beginner acoustic guitar player here, was wondering if it's any different playing this on acoustic guitar? Love your videos, you've taught me the basics and would love to learn this one

Anyone else find it extremely hard to play with f5 without pressing the pinky extremely hard to avoid muting the high E? I have tried using the side of the pinky but when playing this piece it's really hard to roll it on to the side to keep up with constantly letting off.
Most of the times I watch you. Your plugged into a Katana amp. They are great little solid state amps. I for 1 don't use the USB . I just run the amp as is. But use a Blues Junior will I play out with my pedal train board. Merry Christmas Marty.
Yes!! My 2 year old cars fanatic son will love to hear his dad playing this! Thanks Marty 😊👍
i used to be that 2 year old cars fanatic i used to love when this song came on
Mine is also obsessed haha! Anything cars in general, but he especially loves this movie.
@@gavinscara8391i had the cd soundtrack we used to play on car rides
@@gavinscara8391 I still am, it's my favorite song because of that movie
Exactly the same reason I’m watching this 😂. My 2 boys are huge fans of Cars so I’ll be scoring some points with this 😂.
Simple, yet very deliberate chordal play for sure! What a fun classic, especially this rendition.
Why is it that everytime I need a guitar lesson on a song, I'm just like "Marty Music" 😂 thanks man. Keep up the great work

Thanks Marty!
This is in the key of FMajor but I was expecting this song to be in some kind of FLATT key? LOL!
Love this tune, solo hits real good too. 🤘🏼

I thought this was Canadian Tom Cochrane's song?
It's was. Until Cars had to have a softer more country version of it. Idk why they couldn't use the classic original
You have so much skill man.
