I tend to focus so much on just theory, I enjoy it but generally nobody wants to hear a talk on music theory, they want to hear you play music. This is great advice.
I'm practicing my D minor scale and wah pedal sound by looping the riff to Cream's "White Room". Not only is it such an amazing guitar solo, but the wah tone is out of this world. There is no better feeling while playing guitar than playing a song you love, and improvising the solo over the riff. Great video, you earned a new subscriber and reoccurring viewer.
I quit my lessons because I legitimately didn’t have time to practice everyday because of a demanding job, but man I miss going every Sunday at 2pm with my teacher. He’s a insanely good and I’m terrible lol
BB King's comment on reading music: "It's better to know and not need than to need and not know." He's the greatest musician I ever heard perform live. It can't be recorded; all the difference in the world live! He said, "Scales educate the fingers." One of the reasons he liked the 335 was because he could hear it better than others when practicing scales without an amp. 🤘
No shortage of how to play things on guitar on TH-cam. Lots of great ones. I have to say this one is exceptional. Great instructional video. I will be using this diligently. I’m glad I came across your channel and subscribed.
You're a wonderfully engaging and effective teacher and pick the best music to highlight. Every video reveals a new path for me to explore. You're my absolute favorite guitar TH-camr! Thanks!
Brilliant suggestions - thanks! The guitar break/solo on Bigmouth is a great one for picking accuracy and speed too. Ian Bairnson's solo on Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights is another good one to practice and improve upon bending and tremolo techniques.
Happy New Year to you, too, Adrian! Always love ALL your lessons and videos, and I really get so much from your "welcome to the new year" videos that always help me to reset, re-focus, and recharge as the year lies ahead of us. Thank you for all you do. So very much appreciated!
I absolutely agree that the satisfaction of learning a significant part of a classic track spurs learners on, that’s pretty much how I learnt. I was always curious at the same time about why parts work and that combination is what kept me going.
Excellent suggestions. And timely as I am going back to the drawing board after 40 years of playing. Due to a health issue a few years back my rhythm ain't so hot (ahem) so I will definitely be doing Riffs 2 & 3 daily for a few months. And Riff 10 for the hell of it. Happy New Year.
Just stating the obvious, you are awesome, I love your work, commenting to help your channel. Thank you for sharing your art,it’s a challenge, I love it!
This is how I use my practice time at the moment. Have clearly noticed that getting stuck in and (poorly) attempting some of Petrucci's chords and solos have dramatically helped making other tunes very easy in comparison...
The first suggestion brings in my mind Dun Ringill, Jethro Tull. Even though it seems like arpeggios it's alternate picking and it's the best picking exercise I found.
Great new year video, Adrian! A great approach - learn enough songs with modest proficiency and you can’t help but add a host of techniques to your playing. At least, that’s what I tell myself when avoiding practice drills.
Some great examples there - but I think Johnny Marr is the number one - an all round widely influenced artist that could easily play at of those styles you’ve covered and elements incorporated in his songs over the years if you listen
Thanks as always for the great vids, Adrian and all the best of 2024 to thee and thine. For the acoustic demos it looks like you are playing a Martin 000-15. I recently accquired one myself. Lovely old guitar!

i think the golden rule for theory could be “show dont tell” haha
Doing a Django lesson is a brilliant idea Adrian! Please do!
Yes, please!
His version of "I'll See You In My Dreams" is one of the best guitar records of all time. A lesson including that would be incredible.
Keep it simple - blue drag.
Oof yes please!
Not only I'd like a full lesson about James Burton, but it would be great having some videos focusing on country rock songs.
Some Gram Parsons would be epic
Incredible list of cool genre-diverse riffs. Love this!

More proof it's mostly about songs. The 10 songs you chose have it all. Outstanding!

Absolutely impeccable taste as always. And showing just how versatile a tele can be!!!
As an adult student with limited time, you're opening comments really nailed exactly what I've been trying to tell my teacher
Wow woe.
Hi Adrian, thanks for coming back to grace our screens again in 2024. I love your lessons and approach.
No shortage of how to play things on guitar on TH-cam. Lots of great ones. I have to say this one is exceptional. Great instructional video. I will be using this diligently. I’m glad I came across your channel and subscribed.
Now I really want a Tele with a roasted maple neck. Also, I'm reminded of how much I love the Smiths. Fantastic practice selections. Thank you!
You're a wonderfully engaging and effective teacher and pick the best music to highlight. Every video reveals a new path for me to explore. You're my absolute favorite guitar TH-camr! Thanks!
best guitar channel on the youtubes
Stellar selection of riffs. Covers a lot of ground AND in great taste 🤌
Brilliant lesson thanks very much. Nice selection of tunes
Your original Spellbound video really helped my picking accuracy more than any other exercise I did previously.
Fantastic choice to start with.
Excellent advice...I'm limited on practice time myself! Glad to subscribe!
After 2 weeks away at Christmas without guitars, this is just what I need to kick start the year! Thanks and Happy 2024!
Brilliant suggestions - thanks! The guitar break/solo on Bigmouth is a great one for picking accuracy and speed too. Ian Bairnson's solo on Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights is another good one to practice and improve upon bending and tremolo techniques.
Loved this lesson, thanks! More like this please 🙏
not only are you the most fantastic guitar teacher Ive ever encountered, but you also always choose the best songs! I have a new playlist hahah
Happy New Year to you, too, Adrian! Always love ALL your lessons and videos, and I really get so much from your "welcome to the new year" videos that always help me to reset, re-focus, and recharge as the year lies ahead of us. Thank you for all you do. So very much appreciated!
Inspirational stuff and a very useful ‘menu’ to have to choose from. Thank you!
Really great selection. Respect.
Jolly good...same to you.... cheers from Canada.
Great show 😊
Fantastic lesson. Gilmour solo and Misirlou are perfect for couple of my weak spots. Would love that Django lesson.
Anything by Mountain is my go-to for riff practice.
Nantucket Sleighride, which was used for Weekend World (ITV 1980s)
Man !!! Just a few weeks ago remember some Rappid Licks of yours. Keep on Grindin´ and happy 2024!!!!
Great song choices. I love “Girl From the North Country”!
I absolutely agree that the satisfaction of learning a significant part of a classic track spurs learners on, that’s pretty much how I learnt. I was always curious at the same time about why parts work and that combination is what kept me going.
Knew I was in for a treat with this vid when song No.1 was Spellbound. Absolutely classic part and deceptively tricky!
As ever, thanks for everything Adrian. Nice Daniel Johnston t shirt - Chrimbo pressie?
Merci for the suggestions.
Happy New Year! You're spoiling us, as usual. If you're feeling up for it, another Dick Dale lesson would be awesome!
I haven't heard Spellbound in years. Good lesson & happy new year.
Always both informative and brings a smile with your music choices. Thanks.🎸
Thanks for this, what an excellent selection to kick off the year 🙂
This is great as usual. A Django lesson would be an excellent idea.
All the best for the New year Adrian. You have inspired over the years 🙏🏻 God Bless you 🙏🏻
I love that you chose the first solo in "Comfortably numb". I like it more than the second, which is the one everybody seems to prefer
Love that telecaster with those outstanding eyes...
Happy New Year to all of you! Thanks for another great lesson Adrian.
Happy New Year, great to see you again
Just stating the obvious, you are awesome, I love your work, commenting to help your channel. Thank you for sharing your art,it’s a challenge, I love it!

I was learning Bigmouth last year. Marrs parts are always great
All terrific and iconic riffs!
Best guitar teacher on youtube, thank you.
Thank you, Adrian and a very Happy 2024 to you !
Great choice of songs Adrian.
This is how I use my practice time at the moment. Have clearly noticed that getting stuck in and (poorly) attempting some of Petrucci's chords and solos have dramatically helped making other tunes very easy in comparison...
Very good choices for this lesson, I will enjoy this. Thanks
Thanks for posting this. Some brilliant stuff on it for me to go over❤
Welcome back. Happy new year.
Happy New Year !
You're still one of the best teachers on the web ! 😌🙏✊
The first suggestion brings in my mind Dun Ringill, Jethro Tull. Even though it seems like arpeggios it's alternate picking and it's the best picking exercise I found.
happy and successful new year! \o/
Fantastic! You have impeccable taste.
When I heard McGeogh, I was hoping for “Into the Light”, but excellent choice nonetheless
Love this! I love taking the journey with you. Keep up the great work.
Happy New Year!!!!
I'm going to propose Johnny Marr's parts from Nothing But Flowers (Talking Heads). Happy new year Andrew.

Awesome licks Mate.
Spellbound took me back a good 40 years in my mind.
Happy New Year Adrian, best wishes to you. Thanks for all you do!
Thank you so much. I agree with the logic of this practice advice.
Some great examples there - but I think Johnny Marr is the number one - an all round widely influenced artist that could easily play at of those styles you’ve covered and elements incorporated in his songs over the years if you listen
In my humble opinion of course, I'm always listening broadly for influences for new ideas for music.. but these lessons are good - happy practicing
Simple man or more than a feeling helped me learn string skipping with my picking hand.
Yes! Nice suggestions.
Aside from the carefully and wisely chosen content, I just could listen to you talking for hours...
Thanks very much for the video. Something to work on for improving technique. I need to get me some of that one day.
Happy new year Adrian and thanks for all your great videos!
Happy New Year Adrian. A great demonstration of what a tele can do.
Happy New Year Adrian. Great lesson and yes please for a Django lesson.

Extra marks for the Daniel Johnson “hi how are you” frog shirt. 😢
Thanks as always for the great vids, Adrian and all the best of 2024 to thee and thine. For the acoustic demos it looks like you are playing a Martin 000-15. I recently accquired one myself. Lovely old guitar!

Ramones is definitely the best starting point for any beginner!
