You can punch with the tokyo rig, i have several times. The only thing you gotta do....put a bigger weight on, or put back to back weights on it. Also where you bend the metal to hold the weight on, just bend it a little, if you bend it in a u or a little loop like most people do, it will catch grass and vegetation.
The info you pass along is outstanding! To me this is how a fishing video should be made, not just fishing but pass along what has worked for you at different seasons. The gray words and especially the F-bomb do not make your videos better, they stand alone without these words. Not my place to judge you just my opinion. I hit a nerve with three other video fisherman in our area about their language and handling of the fish. A more compact version of the Tokyo rig, that has been successful for me, is the Jika rig. Great up north when crawfish is a major source of forage! Versatile too, as it can also be used with swim baits, grubs, tubes, and worms too.
Great video! I'm a co-angler and my very first tournament in June on Lake Weiss my boater was throwing a green pumpkin shaky head around docks. I put on a 7 inch bubblegum trick worm on a shaky head and consistently caught keepers in spots he just hit, including a 4lb spot. Like you said something different to perk their interest.
Another great video , the Texas rig worm is the bait I fish the most, caught more fish on it than any other bait , keep the videos coming, thanks for all the advice
Around November last year my son and another kid were fishing an event on Guntersville out of our boat. They were having a let's say a slow day of fishing. They were throwing drop shot and wacky rig setups. I told them to try a worm. To no avail. I picked a rod. Put on a 7in ribbon tail worm. Second cast pulled in a nice sized large mouth. Needless to say that motivated theme to start throwing more than drop shot and and wacky rigs. I did throw the fish back in the lake. I do play fair! When I doubt throw a worm. You have nothing to lose.
I know you have punched the tokyo rig already, but I got to tell you...Using a 10 inch culprit curly tail worm, I came close to wrecking my PB on it. I caught on average of 3 fish an hour punching that rig. And not a dink among them. This spring I'll use a red liplrdd from sixth sense my first throw, but I will switch to the Tokyo rig with either a whacky rig culprit or a texas rig. Thanks for the reminder to get back to my roots, I get stuck on certain techniques and it probably hurts my fishing. Love your content man, thank you and be well.
My birthday is 8/4, and this vid was a great present, thank you! The best thing about your vids, and especially this one, is that you give us permission to use outside-the-box rigs, which I really like to do. Watching this gave me the idea of using a floating or semi-floating bait on a Carolina rig... I'm trying some Elaztechs on it next time I go out. One tip about the Tokyo rig... if you bend the bottom of the wire into a closed loop instead of a hook shape to hold your weight on, it'll be a lot more weedless. Thanks again!
Hey bud very informative video. I just moved to Fl. about 2 yrs ago but just started fishing again. I am most definitely going to try some of those techniques. Thanks for the video.
Haha just put a 10” ribbontail worm video out on my IG this morning as well. They still get it done. Might tie on a Carolina rig today (not a fan as well but those “deep” water bass still seem to like them.
Those Roboworms are hand poured by a machine. That why they are called Roboworms. They have a machine that was invented to automatically pour worms in the exact same manner as traditional "hand pour" worms. Great vid too I really liked it!

I throw whopper plopper, crank bait, jig, spinner bait, etc. I am really starting to think its just me not knowing how to Bass fish. Any tips that I haven't seen in many videos
Believe it or not that neko rig makes a great bait for targeting suspended bass that are 4-5 feet off bottom. Throw it out and then pop it up 4-5 feet off bottom and shake it in place for just a second, then let it fall- they bite on the fall usually. Or- just chunk it out, count down until you feel like it's at their level or just barley above them- now small little jerk, jerk, jerk- and then let it fall back down to their level- repeat. Spots tear it up.
I feel like I’m giving away one of my secrets for a Carolina rig right now but I’ve always wacky rigged a stick bait and throw it on a Carolina rig with a 15 inch fluro liter and it’s something the fish have never ever seen.
I really need to try that Tokyo rig at some point this season. If your talking soft plastics man you gotta try and include weightless top water stuff, if I may suggest something that not a lot of anglers use is a craw style bait like the Rage Tail craw or the lobster around vegetation or on lay downs, especially where you have deeper water that submerges the ends of the lay down but not too deep, 5-8 feet seems to be prime targets.
@@mikeybalzz video or it didn’t happen 😂😂😂😂 Thanks for the reply man but seriously I wouldn’t mind seeing you explore/experiment, I use that option a lot during spring/summer/fall, I would think that with all the vegetation in Fla. that it would be killer down there when the top water bite is on.
