How to Get OIL Out of SUEDE (and NOT DESTROY the leather)

  • Here's how to get oil out of suede. If you have a tough oil stain on your suede boots, there are only a few ways to get rid of it without ruining the leather.
Here's what I used in this video:
    A suede brush and eraser → amzn.to/3wnbp2a
    Saphir Omnidaim → amzn.to/3Pg0YWI
    Saphir Renovateur spray → amzn.to/3yFB9cC
You can usually remove most stains from suede with just a brush or an eraser. But if you have a tougher stain like oil or salt, you'll likely need a suede soap.
My favorite suede soap is Omnidaim. I use Saphir products often because I know they're solid. I'm sure there are other great suede soaps out there, but Saphir's is the only one I've tried.
Before you dive into sudsing up your suede leather boots, I recommend trying just the brush and eraser. Repeat steps two and three multiple times to see how the oil stain reacts. You might remove it completely without soap.
Also, if you're buying the Saphir Renovateur spray, make sure you pick it up in "neutral." They also offer in brown, black, and navy. If your suede is one of those colors, go for it. But I have multiple colors of suede, so I just went with neutral.

PLEASE, from a cobbler, wash the ENTIRE suede shoe not just the “spot” where it’s dirty. It will dry more evenly. Many times, if you just do one area, it’ll look like a huge water spot when it dries. The rest is fine. When dry, buff up the nap with a brush or eraser, spray with a suede conditioner- like the one in the video, allow to dry, and then- most important- spray with water protector. Please protect your suede and nubuck with a protective spray.

Thank you for this. I wanted to revive one of my previous Louis Vuitton purses, but all the videos on TH-cam are about cleaning the lower end LV purses (the Neverfull that almost everyone has which just has cheapo cloth for the interior). I appreciate this video. Thanks again.

Good vid, oil on my boots from the pedals driving the semi definitely happens
I don't mind wear and tear but an obvious stain matters to me, even when I know no one else notices 🤣
    What jacket man?

Got some oil stains on my New Balance 990v6 on the suede part and used shoe foam and tried to get rid of the oil stain. Didn’t work😢 Will the suede eraser work

Pro tip: only eat pizza made with mink oil. It may darken the leather, but it will also help with conditioning. Once you adjust to the taste of mink pepperoni then you are a true boot guy.

I used Saphir's Médaille d'Or Renovateur and the Safir Protector waterproofing spray on my new suede boots..I wore them out and got a nasty oil stain on them..I thought this stuff protected them from oil?

Glad you found it helpful. These are from Wolf and Shepherd - I really enjoyed them until they had the stain. I wore them in NYC last year and rode a bike with them and walked like 5+ miles a day with them. They're super comfortable. And then I spilled pizza oil on them. But now they're fixed!

Thank you for this video! I thought I had ruined my new suede Coach bag. I had called around...the only shop that said they "might" be able to save it was in New York. I ordered all the items you said to. Waalaa! (it was only two weeks old) It looks amazing!
