    Love your response about the answering the phone! Customers used to get upset with me because they would call multiple times, but not leave a message. I constantly remind people that I am a one person shop and my hands are always working! If I answered the phone every time it rang, I would NEVER get any projects done! Keep up the great work!!!!

Let's just say that being on the ground among the people every day in a third-world country was an adventure, to say the least. I saw things you would never see in America. I was working 18-hour days for weeks on end so I could finish my work so I could return back to the USA. I had no financial backing, I paid for everything myself. I took a huge financial risk and lost. I invested in three companies that were supposed to keep me afloat while I was away. They all took my money. You could create a FAQs web page on your website and list all the questions you have received with answers (database of sorts). That way instead of answering the same questions over and over, you could just pin that URL at the top of the comments section. If by chance someone does ask a new question, you could still answer it for that video and then add it to the FAQs page. Not sure if that would create more time/work or less - just a suggestion.

    Richard thank you for taking the time to answer questions. I did have a question that I can't seam to understand. What does the correct stitch look like. I'm adjusting the tension on my machine to get what I think is a good stitch, but I'm not an expert

    • @oldschoolautoupholstery
      @oldschoolautoupholstery  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Leo, For thread tension, I pull the top thread and bottom thread at the same time to feel the tension. They should be close to equal. When stitching you should not be able to see the bottom thread from the top. If one of the threads stiches look loose, just tighten up a little bit. I believe once you got it dialed in, you will never have to touch it again. I have not adjusted my thread tension for a few years. Please keep liking and watching!

    Hi Richard, Have you done a video on replacing a bobbin mid project? I forgot to double check my bobbin, and ran out in the middle of a visible French seem. I just pulled my thread back to start and went back in the same needle holes, but is there an easier way without putting a lock stich in the middle of a stitch line? Thanks!

    • @oldschoolautoupholstery
      @oldschoolautoupholstery  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Timeout, Usually what I do is remove the material from the sewing machine. Then turn it on it's back to show the bottom bobbin thread. Pull out a few stitches to make longer threads. Hand tie them in the back. When restarting your stitch, just put the needle in the last hole and go again. When finished, hand tie the loose thread on the backside, the same as before. Try it, you'll like it! Please keep liking and watching!

    Hey Richard,,,What brushable adhesive do you recommend for the headliner material with the foam backing. A lot of adhesives I have looked at is not compatible with foam. I’m assuming the adhesive you are using comes in large quantities for your spray gun. I’m looking for quart cans or I may have to a gallon. Thank You

      Hello Jim, Nice to meet you! Just grab a quart can of contact adhesive from the big box store. They use it for counter tops. It can be brushed or sprayed. Just don't let it soak into the foam. Please keep liking and watching!

    Hey Richard, I’m working on headliner and sun visors in my 91 Chevy truck. I have a question for the visors I’m using 1.5 mm chip board and headliner material for visors, what is the correct size thread for going through 2 layers of chip board and material. How is the thread measured. Thank You

      @oldschoolautoupholstery  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello Jim, for 40 years, I never paid attention to thread size. I just always bought what was a standard size thread from my upholstery suppliers for industrial sewing machines. When I started making videos, I got the same questions and they made me look. It turns out to be T-90 thread. Please keep liking and watching!

    I always use the same glue gun set up you have. I recently got a pressure pot styled one. It sprays amazingly, but I noticed it can clog up pretty easily after sitting for one night. I think I have to empty the hose that carry’s the glue, and de-pressurize the pot before shutting down for the night. You ever use that type of system before? Did you have to purge the whole thing when not in use?

    Hello Richard!
    Learning is doing! Pretty new at this, bought a Singer 155 couple years ago.
    I’m working on my air ride truck seats and the original covers have a rather dense, maybe Dacron, not sure, but it’s about 1/8” thick, glued to the back of the scrim foam and Velcro is attached to the foam cushions.
    To be more clear, the hook Velcro is glued to the seat cushion, and this material locks into it.
    Do you know what this material is called so I can purchase new?
    Thank you much!

      Hello Ponway, I am not sure as I usually reuse it. I would imagine it would be called a sewn on loop Velcro. Please keep liking and watching!

      @ponway 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@oldschoolautoupholstery thanks for the reply!
      It’s not the opposite piece of Velcro but a fibrous piece of material that is glued to the whole underside of the scrim foam. When I try to remove it to reuse it just wants to tear apart.
