    rolling wrench shows you the difference between a stock 50cc 49cc gy6 and a 80cc big bore kit with a performance pipe, intake and cam. Although many people think chinese scooters are low quality and suck, there are tons of upgrades for them, Personally I love them. I have a Vespa, Italjet, and a Stella. But still love Chinese scooters. If you have any questions about chinese scooters just ask we are experts.

    VIP is made by Taotao it's just a different model, I think they look a little better but hate the decals on them.

    That's cool, but in most states, it can't be legally considered a "moped" unless it's 50cc or under.

    when you upgrade that scooter you gotta have your license to operate it right? as far as iknow 50cc is the only thing u can ride without any license just ID and stuff

    Tao Tao is the cheapest you can get. 9200 ft would be result in probally just enough power to go up a 5 degree incline lol. The mechanics are better left to a shop that is what I do. Usually fairly cheap and good people. I would certainly talk to them about souping it up before running at 9200 ft lol. Get a Kymco or something but not a Honda.

    i have a question: a scooter 50cc tunned to 80 cc, what top speed wil have then? or it doesn't matter because it will only be quiker BUT NOT FASTER(a higher top speed)

      Search under the code name my scooter is 50qt chassis and all tt50qt or yt50qt or so on aslong it end with 50qt or whatever chassis is ,and for engine parts should be 139qmB but there is a 139qmA and the valve are different and the rod stroke is a bit large but the 139qmb is the mostly sold in the usa but just to make sure sheck the vin on your motor if it end with 139qmb or 139qma.

    hey rollingwrench.. i just did one of these upgrades myself and im having a problem i didnt before the upgrade.. whenever i go more than half throttle it boggs down and i lose power.. i checked inside while hitting the throttle and it looks like the fuel stops flowing at higher throttle... is that possible.. or do i have an air leak or something?? the bike does 30 at like 1\3 throttle id really like to see what it can do but i cant figure this out.. carb is brand new... thanks

    • @jseden
      @jseden 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roger Bernard III carb needs to be rejetted. They come setup for 50cc and are usually still kinda lean. I know this is an old post but you gotta upjet for a bore kit.. im running a 95 main with my 47mm setup. Also has a free flow filter instead of the stock box

  • @stower82

    dude they are both gy6 motors on both these bikes. one just has a big bore kit. i work on these types of bikes all the time and they all have the same chinese junk motors. do yourself a favor and buy good stuff like honda,yamaha, or sazuki.

    • @isher9035
      @isher9035 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not all GY6's are equal. I used to feel this way until I saw some guys taking apart GY6's and took apart my Kymco. The Kymco is Taiwanese, and the engine is built very well. Where did it suffer? The carburetor used an M5 sized main jet rather than everybody else using M4 like real CVKs. Also, with the GY6, you can't "just" install something and call it good...you have to pay attention to jetting, like every bike.
      The Chinese GY6's are usually pretty okay, just suffer on the carburetors and ignition parts. Nice part about scooters is they're so incredibly cheap to maintain, with GOOD parts.

    • @rolandmetayer7210
      @rolandmetayer7210 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@isher9035 Yes, Kymco is a good scooter . I believe that the Taiwanese GY6 engines are much better than the Chinese GY6 engines . I have nothing against the Chinese , but they seem to have quality control problems . Isher, you do well to stick with the Kymco brand ! !

    • @rolandmetayer7210
      @rolandmetayer7210 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Microshark79. I fully agree with you . The Chinese scooters are less expensive but they seem to have many problems . The scooters built in Taiwan , I believe are somewhat better than the Chinese brands but they are still not up to par with the Japanese brands . I believe that Kymco makes a good scooter and they are built in Taiwan . I also believe that for the difference in price between a Taiwanese scooter and a Japanese scooter like : Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki , in long term a person is better off paying a little extra $$ and buying a Japanese scooter. Even if the scooter isn't directly made in Japan , the ENGINEERING and QUALITY CONTROL are JAPANESE . Here in Canada , many scooter brands came and now they are all gone . I would say easily a half dozen of scooter makes and countless models . Honda , Yamaha and Suzuki are still here . Furthermore , with the well known Japanese brands , If you need help or parts , you have a dealer to serve you and not some JACKASS scooter company somewhere in China that closed up shop a year or two after they opened their doors . I want to finish by naming some scooter companies that came and left here in the Provence of Quebec , Canada : Chironex , TaoTao , PGO , CPI ( PURE TRASH ) , Keeway , E-Ton , Jonway , Saga scooter , and SYM . Long live the Japanese MOTORCYCLES and SCOOTERS ! ! !
