- Well hello there, its me again! Today its another Gumi English cover mashup chorus again! What am I supposed to say, again?
Don't you know that feeling of digging into a song with tons of good covers by so many talented people and you're thinking "Aww, they are all so nice, I would love to hear them together in a chorus!"

“The cycle of abuse” part hit differently omg-
Idk, I feel it was out of place? Like, maybe it's just me, but I feel like it was stating the point of the song WAY too explicitly. There was no subtlety there. The lyrics are pretty effective in communicating what I read as the impact of getting _out_ of a codependent relationship- not knowing what you're meant to do after getting out of it, because your identity has become dependent on your partner, and it feels impossible to function without them. (Especially if you have abandonment issues, which it feels like the lyric "What am I supposed to say when I end up driving everyone away?" was sort of alluding to.)
The moment where it's just like "THE CYCLE OF ABUSE. THE CYCLE OF ABUSE." feels so... clunky to me. It feels like the exact opposite of show don't tell, throwing out any and all subtlety, throwing out the ability to let the listener figure out what the song is about on their own, and instead stating what the song is about explicitly, even though nowhere it felt like it was about the cycle of abuse. It felt more like it was about the impacts a codependent relationship can have on you after it ends.
This is just my opinion, but it felt... weird. It felt clunky and out of place and unsubtle.
@joyflameball idk I think someone added that in I don't think those were part of the original lyrics. But I honestly don't mind their place I do think the song is about the cycle of abuse. Codependency is a part of abuse. So is the guilt you feel after leaving an abusive relationship is reflected in the song too and the guilt can be strong because you question then if everything is your fault. Which I think is also reflected in the song. I think that the song IS about the cycle of abuse because as the song goes on an on about how the singer feels guilty and sad within and out of the relationship it signifies how an abuser made their life feel so small that they feel they shouldn't have gotten attached to anyone ever. So I think the lyric actually fits here.
