@@N7AslansHobbit_Ry amm..awfully sorry to answer after such a long time, but it was probably improv based on Matt scene description "some looks at you with recognition" something like that, don't remember exact words, but Matt obviously meant the group but Will joined the fun
Yes it is a shame. And even larger rotating cast, in a West Marches style game, could have been kind of cool. But as it is D&D, DMs and Matt Mercer unfortunately have their limits. And I wouldn't want to have to choose between them and the cast we do have.

Listening to Kash is such a ride. He starts talking strategy and you're like "Oh, cool, he's reasonable." Then he's like, "I'm asking if we can make a phalanx" and you're like, "Shit this guy knows what's UP." and then he says something in his characteristic smartass tone and you bust a gut laughing. Great performance.
sorry someone mentioning "phalanx" while being on the offensive side of a siege, does not really tell you that he knows whats up... quite the opposite.
@@Darksnakemrniceguy How exactly? Phalanxes have been used offensively with great success and they are not completely immobile like people tend to think, but instead capable of pushing forward
@@veleho3874 you do not use phalanx in a charge on a defensive structure... they are vulnerable to attacks from above, slow, and difficult to maneuver. once the charge towards the walls is over, and you are within the city walls, then phalanx is a viable option of slow advance with high defensive capabilities... but not a go too attack formation in a siege. in the initial charge you will want to use a testudo, or a wide spread formation. force your way through the walls, and inside maybe a phalanx could work depending on what you encounter... but if someone says "we attack the walled city with a phalanx" and people think that guy knows whats up just because he used a few strategic buzz words, im just going to be smh...
@@SwagbitoUchiha not sure what you mean by that :P but now that you mention it helms deep is a good example. the urukai got into position, then charged the walls in mass without formation for quick movement, if they would have used a phalanx then it would have been silly... slow movement and tight formation would simply result in a increased loss of numbers in that moment. the gate was approached with a testudo formation since it was a narrow path and couldnt be charged in mass anyway. once the walls were breached they got into a phalanx to prepare for the counter charge by the elves. overall their attack was tactically solid, unlike Kash's tactic of wanting their phalanx troops to attack a fortified position, if he really knew "whats up" he would have asked for a testudo first.

This is one of the reasons I consider her the best actress of the party (and they're all really good): most of them get in character and stay there because it takes them a bit to do so but Laura can turn it off and on in the blink of an eye. Honestly, she's so good at this I'd love to see her DM a campaign. Of course with her fantastically filthy mind it would probably be a full blown tentacle hentai adventure about as far from SFW as one could possibly get so I fear this hope shall never come to pass...🤣
@@davidcurry5240yeah, I mean you can see it on Matt all the time. I love Percy's naming conventions. Son: Daddy, why is my sister named Hope? Percy: You're welcome, Unforeseen Consequence!
Not a master. Just a professional soldier with a basic idea of how medieval warfare works. Pretty much any sellsword in the setting should have the same experience and expertise. Grog was raised by reavers, but that's really the extent of the party's instruction in warfare beyond being thrust into battles.
Officially in love with Mary, that hentai joke had me in tears. Such a cool person and it is truly a shame that she isn’t a permanent member of the group. It’s always enjoyable to have her and Will on the show.
First time watching C1 and when Mary came on I was so happy. Matt saying 'Zara you here a knock at your door' and Mary responding offscreen was just wonderful
2:27:25 - Even the crew can't tell the twins apart - they wanted to show the two people sparring's character cards, and they accidentally pulled up Vex instead of Vax :)
A giant, dead dragon should solve the hunger problems for a long time right? I'm assuming the meat would be frozen and shared for future dragon burgers. Or Vox Machina can open up a McThordak's and make some platinum on the side as the next arc. Anyone who messes with them will have to deal with cashiers wearing dragon armor and wielding vestiges. I'd watch it.
Man, that improv scene between Matt (Dale) and Will (Kash) was awesome in it's simplicity. Vox Machina were all "Whhhhhaaat the F is going on here??? I think we've been upstaged!!"
At this point Will and Mary are my favorite guest players. Don't get me wrong: all the guests left an impression one way or another, but Keshaw and Zahra just seem to fit in with VM neatly... only Gern was on that level wackiness, but unlike Will and Mary his characters was basically just for laughs, while Kesh and Zahra can be serious and deep.
Do you guys remember how the K'varn story ark seemed to drag on forever?... That was only like, 12 episodes! In my mind it's as long as the chroma conclave, but this story ark has been going on for neary 40!!!
To be fair, the Chroma Conclave involved a lot of different sub-arks for each dragon/barbarian/vestige/etc. that makes it seem like it's a lot of little stories instead on one huge trek.
I mean, they are all just RPing. Vax and Keyleth didn’t really bring out too many “out of character” reactions from Matt. He did however have a bit of fun pushing the Kash relation after Vax and Keyleth was a confirmed item, just to be a dick to Marisha. :) I’d suspect Travis would react like the Parks and Rec Andy Dwyer meme where he’s just having a mix of smiling and “oh shiiiiiiet”

@shelbykutil9743 "..............SONOVA*bleep*BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-(signal lost due to equipment destruction)" Real talk, though, I am so angry with myself that I never checked the credits reel for actors' names. It was so hard to make the right choice by letting her choose for herself, you know? Yet also so worth it to see her be happy with who and what she is when you see her next, no matter which choice she makes.🥲
The entire tail end of Percy and Cassandra's conversation around the 1 hour mark I was shouting at my screen "HUG YOUR SISTER RIGHT NOW PERCY! HUG HER! YOU MIGHT BE WALKING TO YOUR DEATH, YOU HUG YOUR SISTER!". I wish Vax had seen the end of that talk and dragged Percy back into the room to make him be a proper brother.
As I'm watching this years later, I'd still like to also voice my opinion on this scene. All that time Percy is talking to Cas, I'm thinking he's going to hug her. When no such thing happened, I facepalmed and thought, 'oh right, boys don't show affection much. So my reaction is totally as a girl.' So my thought went on to go, 'Cas go hug your bro!' LOL
Actually, Percy specifically says, "We didn't touch in my family." in Episode 23 when Tiberius tries to hug him. So it would be weird for any DeRolo to initiate a hug.
I'm like 2/3 through the video and realized there are like 5 or 6 NPCs Matt has to keep track of at all times and 2 not there right now player characters he also has to keep track of, kudos to you Matt

They're amazing! Mary clearly has done a lot of research, and Will is just an acidic bundle of joy as Kash.
Agreed, I love them both.
Mary was going to be, she was invited to join the original campaign long before the stream but decided not to for reasons various.

@@Darksnakemrniceguy [Laughs in Helm's Deep]

Grog took out Vox Machina's greatest enemy with two hits; a door. How far we've come.
3:03:41
“Wait what?”
“Vex?”
“And Percy?”
“Vex AND Percy?”
“Oh shit Vex and Percy”
“Eww Vex and Percy”
“Vex and Percy? Nah”
my favourite bit of the episode
My only regret was Travis not being present for Vex's "power move." I would have LOVED to see his reaction.
3:03:27 Vax suspects something is going on between Vex and Percy...
Oh my gosh, I saw someone elses post with a time stamp to his body language. I didn't realize why he had that moment until now! Hilarious!
Brillant piece of character work I had not noticed!!
2:23:25 Vax smells Percy on Vex.
@@Pluveus oddly disgusting but im ok with it
Sammus 9474 it’s not disgusting. You know how someone you love smells even if you don’t know you do, so if all of sudden smell different, you notice.
but guys... WHERE'S LARKIN!?!?!
Luke Zatarra LARKIN!!
Have you seen this dwarf?
Where are you Larkin? PLEASE RESPOND!
We'll find you Larkin!
He's larkin in the shadows
40:40 “Isn’t death supposed to be a wonderful adventure, as well?” Mary you are a gift!
I love that they periodically bring back these two guest players.

What about someone on VM one-shotting a door?
Having Vox Machina as a friend is like having someone who calls you saying "Hey can you help me move?" and you ask, "Sure when?" and they say, "Oh right now I am waiting outside to pick you up."
And the Mighty Nein- "Well, I'm in your living room right now, so now-ish, also I don't know who raided the fridge.. I swear."
@@jackhall290 "Oh we brought our bear inside but completely forgot about it for 30 episodes so now it's yours we guess..." XD
And on the way there they jump out of the moving vehicle to run off after a shiney object.
1:27:25 Scanlan finds his Elite Swat Team Task Force.
Might be my favorite moment of the whole episode. It's a small moment, but I love the nod to just how powerful everyone knows Vox Machina is and that Allura realizes that they'll be fighting the real battle.
I like how they remember that Pike can't keep up when running while simultaneously forgetting that Scanlan has the same difficulty. Real nice, ya'll. XD
Its the plate armor that makes them remember
Scanlan can keep up, Pike can’t coz she’s wearing plate armour
@@justadummy8076 He still has a lower speed as a gnome though right? Which would make them the same speed. Heavy armor doesn’t affect your speed.
@@OutlawPrince45 You are right plate armour doesn't effect movement speed and Gnomes do indeed have a slower speed they have 25ft per turn while everyone else except Grog have 30ft per turn.
"How many times do I have to tell you all, I don't need help" -scanlan
Liam o'Brien cracking up is my favorite thing in the world.
Laura avoided the potentially super awkward scene when Percy went to Vex's room brilliantly. I remember when a few episodes ago, Vex and Vax were talking and Vax encouraged her relationship with Percy and she said, "but wouldn't that be so awkward?"
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn: "Always rely on tentacles."
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn 2 hours earlier: *singing* "I can't wait for the artowrk!!"
That's a GOOlock for you.
That last picture of fan art with percy staring at the portrait of his family makes me think that percy is somewhat like anastasia
I love this
1:40:54 "Whenever a dragon says 'trust me' is when you don't" or a DM, one of the two
Unless they're a metallic dragon or the DM's character has been in sight checked.
Kashaw for the win!!! It's amazing what a difference it makes when there's someone on the team who can actually think straight and plan for a change.
hahaha yea if he wasn't they be there discussing the plan for another hour.
Percy's a strategist too. But he doesn't have the leadership charisma that Kash has to keep the group on track.
Very true, he usually tries to come up with plans but everyone else just talks over him or keeps skipping vital steps. It actually gets kind of annoying some times.
everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth
gjaddajg >_> ...there's always one to bring the salt...
