Completely agree . 2.0 with a great script would have been bigger than bahubali . Even now babubali has so many repeat views in Netflix because the script . Visual appeal can go only so much and has a short span .Good script and the emotional connect has longitivtiy .
At first time, i felt the film was a bit slow in it's first half. But going to the movie for the second time, was really good , as the film takes on its own time. Its pace is steadily building up and kicks off in the second half .

Mostly reboots.. cuz they didn't have a proper emotional arc binding the characters.. The difference between Enthiran and 2.0 is that Enthiran took time in setting up the characters which made us genuinely interested in them..unlike 2.0 which was just exposition-setpiece-exposition.. Enthiran was a theme centric film which required an emotional arc whereas 2.0 missing it made it an action-centric film even though it had a good plotpoint.
This film is same as "Indian" and "Anniyan", where we have a character who has a back story of losing someone beloved, like Indian Thaatha losing his daughter because of corruption and Ambi losing his sister because of authorities failing to do their job. Now that character will start killing everyone who does the same crime. This is the story of 2.0, you can match the characters. But Shankar use different environments to set this story.
The problem in 2.0 is in the emotional connect with audience - it's missing , rather take Indian or Anniyan where the emotional scenes are magnetic , it was not there in 2.0 & there's no scene or even a dialogue where chitti was supporting humans , say when pakshi was giving his opinion on the negative aspects of humans , there should be atleast an opposing dialogue from chitti where he should've narrated a good stand for humans , like putting out the positive aspects of humans where humans have saved the earth , that's the place where the screenwriting went weak , that couldn't hype up the clash that's gonna happen between the two .
I generally agree with you but this seems quite a delibrate attempt to malign the movie or simply that you were too thick to understand what happens. You talk about why "pakshi raja" the villain does not speak to the public. Did you not watch the bit in the movie where he, the old man, stood at street corners and outside mobile shops educating people? When he was a common man, people did not listen. That's exactly why he turned villain. Now you want him to repeat the speech again? And no emotional connect? You have to be made of lead, if you didn't feel for the birds and the message conveyed in the movie.
Well, he clearly mentioned addressing the people like Indian thatha and anniyan in stadium. I mean, when they are in the peak of what they did because people didn't listen to them earlier. Then how come, addressing them before becoming the pakshi raja soul matter ? Secondly, the emotional connect with characters is what he mentioned as missing. Not the birds dieing and all ?

A difference between a great sci-fi movie & could've been better movie , is based upon the connectivity that we get from the characters in the movie , for instance in ' inception ' the story line was simple a dad wants to get back to her daughter , the moment when he got stuck in the time loop , it made us feel for that character & this was not there in 2.0 it was all about a good vs evil concept it stayed artificial because none of the characters gave that 'emotion' , but in endhiran the love for chitti worked out when we wanted chitti to stay with us as a human when chitti is being dismantled , that's where endhiran won as a great movie . But considering the vision of Shankar sir that he had on this film it was all about the "Experience" with a good script . Anyway we must take this as Step one in 3D film making & we must appreciate screen writers & directors to do such great films so that we can celebrate our Indian cinema :)
I agree with him. Shankar wasted this golden opportunity. People won't come again to see VFX or technical aspects of the film, it must have a story, emotions. Hope he has good story for Indian 2, if he doesn't have it, he must better not ruin the classic film.

The fact that this is a new attempt in Tamil cinema is all the more reason to criticize the film’s plot (mostly the elements like reincarnation). If they know that they’re going to spend a lot of time and money on technicalities, what’s keeping them from having a more compelling storyline?

No pakshi Rajan could not talk to people directly because there was a lot of politics being played to finish the negative energy off. The moment pakshi Rajan got to speak was when he took vasigaran's possession and in that moment you know how wild he was and at that time he became the villain for the world
I actually thought movie should have ended where Vaseegaran was felicitated by govt and since it's titled 2.0 there was climax right and everything. Climax was actually tiresome.

in fact, I also believe the same thing. BGM completely killed Sound mixing and they also wasted raajali song at the end. what I observed from the movie after observing BGM and Sound mixing is that they just killed the movie. Now it's like watching anime.
The fun element throughout the movie wss missing... In robot there's a part where the chitti talks with mosquito...that scene was so illogical but we never felt that way instead we enjoyed that part and gone with the movie

After watching this video I understand that you don't see it as a bad film. But you should mention the positive aspects of a film in your reviews as well.
I felt that there was definitely a special touch missing. The visuals were definitely amazing, however, the, screenplay could have been way better, it was too straight forward and bland. Some jokes fell flat. However, this is just a stepping stone. I'm sure there will be way better movies in the future.
Looking at Enthiran, there was alot of reasoning to be questioned, but compared to that movie... This movie seemed more of a Sci-Fi than Enthiran can ever be.
2pointO was perfect. even sounds vfx story are perfect for the script.. they showed the message in short time as like hollywood films.. there is no disappointments regarding the movie .. they could length the 2.O chitti scns
If Shankar sir would have called this whole thing a bluff in the end, it's nothing but a plot created by the mastermind vasi along with pakshi for the double motive (Vasi to bring back Chitti and Pakshi to save birds). Justify that this big scale bluff was required to bring the mobile industry scam to light. BR and other critics would have probably called it smart script/writing just like they did for CCV
I think the mix was not great for this film, the ghost aura thing was bollocks, and Endhira Logathu should have been played in between the movie. The characters should have been more fleshed out emotionally and perhaps the camera should have been slicker even when there was no action going on! I felt that the cinematography was like watching every other Tamil film. Only in brief moments did I feel like I was watching a blockbuster.
It’s high time that BR should stop spreading negativity around 2.0. It looks as if he is being paid from other side ( Tollywood industry ). If the movie is good, u cannot stop it from breaking BB’s all times collection record

in fact, I also believe the same thing. BGM completely killed Sound mixing and they also wasted raajali song at the end. what I observed from the movie after observing BGM and Sound mixing is that they just killed the movie. Now it's like watching anime.

In robot there's a part where the chitti talks with mosquito...that scene was so illogical but we never felt that way instead we enjoyed that part and gone with the movie
I agree , though the scene was irrelevant it established a sense of humour for the audience , it's missing in 2.0 for chitti , but it was there when "2.0" red chip rajini was activated 😅
After watching this video I understand that you don't see it as a bad film. But you should mention the positive aspects of a film in your reviews as well.

I felt that there was definitely a special touch missing. The visuals were definitely amazing, however, the, screenplay could have been way better, it was too straight forward and bland. Some jokes fell flat. However, this is just a stepping stone. I'm sure there will be way better movies in the future.
Looking at Enthiran, there was alot of reasoning to be questioned, but compared to that movie... This movie seemed more of a Sci-Fi than Enthiran can ever be.
A good film technically but requires a stronger story. The emotional connect with the characters were missing

If Shankar sir would have called this whole thing a bluff in the end, it's nothing but a plot created by the mastermind vasi along with pakshi for the double motive (Vasi to bring back Chitti and Pakshi to save birds). Justify that this big scale bluff was required to bring the mobile industry scam to light. BR and other critics would have probably called it smart script/writing just like they did for CCV

I think the mix was not great for this film, the ghost aura thing was bollocks, and Endhira Logathu should have been played in between the movie. The characters should have been more fleshed out emotionally and perhaps the camera should have been slicker even when there was no action going on! I felt that the cinematography was like watching every other Tamil film. Only in brief moments did I feel like I was watching a blockbuster.
Was this a flop.. I mean not upto its potential financial gains expected? Asking since i haven't kept any track of it.
