His telling him on this day , you will be with me in paradise.. ..as in telling you today , one day you will be with me in paradise .. Jesus didn’t go to paradise after being sacrificed on that day.. he was in the belly of the earth for 3 days before he resurrected.. and even after, his resurrection,he told people , “don’t touch me , I haven’t ascended to the father ..” Matthew 12:40 ESV For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Jesus tells Mary Magdalene not to touch him in John 20:17, saying, "Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father
And where did Jesus go on that day? Down to the belly of the Earth. Either paradise is Abraham's Bosom, in Sheol. Or Jesus meant He was telling the thief on that very day.
Christians r always misinterpreting this verse. Paul is actually stating that we would rather be absent of our bodies & present with the Lord. Check it out.
I was just recently baptized and I can tell you that I am now walking with the Lord serving with the Lord and making sure that when I get to heaven soon I will be with the Lord plus my family when I see them! Add what I experienced when I was baptized on October 27th 2024 was the fact that I had to go in and had my old body taken out and buy a new one put in it's sort of like my old life was gone and my new life had just came in. Which means your old body which was sinful dies out and your new body comes in without the sin, it's kind of like having your old life replaced with your new one. And what does baptism meant to me was that I am now out of the old sinful life and into a new life with God! And hopefully I will be there in just milliseconds to arrive in heaven and see Jesus in his full Glory!
I think that Hebrews 12 is not telling us that all the faithfull believers before us are watching us. It is a figure of speech. Like when you list a couple of great scientist (like Newton, Farraday etc.) and say that some young researcher is surrounded by them. Meaning their lagacy or knowledge. In the same way we are also now surrounded by these faithfull christians who have run the race and have overcome. They are set as an example to us.
Next question: John 20:17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ ”

When my mother died, I was holding her hand. At the moment of death, I felt her shutter, and then I felt her spirit pass through my body. It felt like a shallow puff of air that went through me. It was as real as real gets. I immediately looked at my wife and my sisters and told them what I had just experienced. They looked at me like I was crazy.

There are many false teachers that teach false doctrines and this is one of them so beware. Always read Scripture in context. Many people are fooled because they just read the verses that are pointed out to them. Also, for the time being, don't read anything Paul said until you understand everything that Yahushua plainly said. Paul is hard to understand (2 Peter 3:16) and most Christians think they understand what Paul said and twist what Yahushua plainly said to fit what they mistakenly think Paul said. Two channels that I recommend to watch are unlearn the lies and 119 ministries. Your soul is at stake here so it's important that you find the truth.

The concept of time is what really matters in this discussion. To God, who does not reside in time like we do, "today" is the same "moment" as the days of creation and the Day of Judgment. So when Jesus said "today" to the criminal on the cross, I believe he meant it with respect to God outside of time, because clearly Jesus didn't go to Paradise on that same day he said "today". He was in a tomb for 3 days, and another 40 days walking around and talking to people, then he went to Paradise. So perhaps the soul goes to heaven "today" to be with God, which is the same thing as Jesus saying "with Me in Paradise" since He is God? Yet, the Day of Judgment is for the living and the dead, so how can the souls of the dead already be in Paradise if they haven't been judged on the Day of Judgment which has yet to come? And there are verses in the Bible which mention those who are "asleep". So I think the JH and SDA might be right about the souls of the dead being "asleep". I however reject the Catholic idea of purgatory because the souls there are not "asleep", and that their situation can be changed by the efforts of those still living. I guess I'll find out when I die.
How a *calvinist* should approach a person with *his* “gospel”: "Hi! I have good news for you! I don't know if God loves you, the most likely is that He hates you. You are badly mistaken!” Also, in the transfiguration…how could Moses and Elijah be there with CHRIST if they were sleeping or in purgatory? Revelation 2-18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. People confuse "hell" with torment and fire and suffering and all bad things. And they all wish to have nothing to do with it and believe all good things are in heaven. But the sound meaning is that of the underworld, with different divisions. Jesus has the keys to those places. Luke 16 parable of Lazarus tells us about Abraham's bosom, contrasting it with the place of torment of the pharisee, totaly seperated spaces with different outcome, comes judgement. When He resurrects his friend Lazarus, who's died 4 days already, from where do you think he rose him? From above or from under? Logically raising means from under, and the division from which this happens has to be Abraham's bosom, a place of refreshmentfor all the righteous, until Jesus opens the doors and resurrects each one with his recompense.
That was a parable being told to the pharisees. People who die have no consciousness until they are resurrected. In that parable, both sides can see and hear each other. Yet, there is no scripture verse that I can find that says unbelievers go to hell when they die. Satan is not in hell. It’s a common misconception that he is the ruler of hell and tortures people there for fun. Jesus said “I have the keys to hell and death”. Satan roams the world! You are in error, You don't finish what Paul was saying in 2 Corinth 5:8-10 Foe we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment Amen. Also it's believed that Yeshua told the thief he would be in paradise not Heaven. Abraham bosom is where the old testament saint where located and that's where Yeshua set captives free. Ephesian 4:9 Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth. How can the thief go with the LORD to heaven if he first descended to Abrahams bosom. Also John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father.........Amen. That was on the third day, and that is proof that the LORD didn't take the thief to heaven that day, but to Abrahams bosom. After dead is JUDGMENT.
Jesus death on the cross paid our sin debt IN FULL. There is no purgatory , and its not mentioned in the bible at all. God is not double minded, so He would not need to send anyone to a place where they can atone, and then go to heaven. The death that Jesus death did NOT cover all our sins is blasphemous to me. HE was sufficient to pay our sin debt in full. You need to read the word of our LORD as it is written .
Heaven is not a place of the dead, it is a place of the living! Note how everyone who went to heaven was alive when he did so! This is true for Jesus, too. According to the epistles of Peter we know that Jesus was "in the lower parts of the earth" preaching to the lost souls. Jesus ascended to heaven after he was resurrected on the third day. The whole idea of someone going to heaven or hell after is NOT christian but comes from platonism (greek philosophy). The early christians did not believe in this. For example, Ireneus of Lyon wrote around the year 180 after christ that no christian believed that someone goes to heaven after death. The only christian sect who believed in this was the heresy of the gnostics.

His telling him on this day , you will be with me in paradise..
..as in telling you today , one day you will be with me in paradise ..
Jesus didn’t go to paradise after being sacrificed on that day.. he was in the belly of the earth for 3 days before he resurrected.. and even after, his resurrection,he told people , “don’t touch me , I haven’t ascended to the father ..”
Matthew 12:40 ESV
For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Also, for the time being, don't read anything Paul said until you understand everything that Yahushua plainly said. Paul is hard to understand (2 Peter 3:16) and most Christians think they understand what Paul said and twist what Yahushua plainly said to fit what they mistakenly think Paul said.

Paradise was referencing Sheol or Abraham's Bosom. The second temple period Hebrew people believed all went to Sheol or the place of the dead when they passed from this life. The difference is believers went to Abraham's Bosom while unbelievers were separated by the great rift and no one can pass between the two places in Sheol. Once the resurrection happens, those believers will be given new bodies and reign with Christ on the Earth.

Revelation and Apostle Paul's teaching tell me that believers do not go to heaven when they die.
Delivers go to paradise first!
@jeanclaude7018Exactly, the people think that the Lord's second coming means nothing. The Great Judgement.
The dead sleep (1 Thessalonians 4:13), the dead are not aware of time, for him he wakes up in the presence of the Lord after his death, even if 6000 years have passed, Jesus did not consider it necessary to explain this detail to the thief on the cross since it would not change anything for him.
Jesus told Martha and his disciples numerous times Lazarus sleeps.
-He likens dead to sleep.
-Martha knows Lazarus will live on the day of résurrection
-Yet Jesus did resurrect him, from what and from where ?
-The first résurrection of the dead happens at 2nd coming of Messiah those that died in Him are resurrected first. Where have these souls been first ? (Revelation 20)
-The second résurrection happens after the millenial reign. (Revelation 20)
- Where were those souls sleeping, as Jesus used this exact word to qualify the state of Lazarus ?
- where is the discussion taking place in Luke 16 ?
- where did Jesus go when he died ? And to the thief he said "today you'll be with me in paradise"
-did the soul of the thief go to heaven that day, or did it go to sleep, like the Lazaruses souls, to paradise, the place of rest of the saved souls, down in the earth ?
-whose souls did Jesus preached to when he went to "hell"? The righteous or the unrighteous?
- The righteous sleeping and Awaiting résurrection to life, like Martha rightly underdstood it?
-The unrighteous awaiting their recompense also, after judgement day.
-Yet Jesus did resurrect him, from what and from where ?
from death , when a human dies God receives their spirits, when Jesus called forth Lazarus his unconscious spirit returned to his body!!!
-The first resurrection of the dead happens at 2nd coming of Messiah those that died in Him are resurrected first. Where have these souls been first ?
this depends on how you understand a soul , if you believe soul and spirit are the same thing then God has their spirits and at the resurrection their spirits will return to their resurrected body just like Lazarus! our soul is a combination of spirit and body , its not a 3rd component its the product of body and spirit , soul doesn't exist with out a body and spirit!

There's a reason 2 Peter 3 warned against those that twist Paul's writings. The idea of living in new bodies upon dead is either a bad interprétation or Paul is confused as far as 1 Thes 4 is concerned.
Paul is coherent in his two letters, those who sleep *will* receive incorruptible bodies at the apointed time. At the sound of the trumpet, the dead in Christ will be resurrected first.
How a *calvinist* should approach a person with *his* “gospel”:
"Hi! I have good news for you! I don't know if God loves you, the most likely is that He hates you.
I also don't know if He died for you on the cross, only a very few were chosen… But Listen!"

good preaching. Biblical.
The idea of soul sleep came from the original translation from Hebrew about Sheol being the grave. The Greeks translates Sheol to Hell also known as brimstone and hellfire. The Hebrew definition of Sheol is literally translated to “the grave” so the idea of soul sleep is actually Biblical.
But Jesus took all the captives of Sheol with him to heaven so there is no one left in there ... (Ephesians 4:8 & Psalm 68:18)
It sounds like your argument turns on a definition of terms not everyone agrees with.
This is no argument for soul sleep being in the Bible.
Sheol is the place of the d ead, in old covenant times everybody went there but now the believers go to heaven. No such thing as soul sleep.
Huh? Sheol means grave. Got it. What does that have to do with “soul sleep”? I ate breakfast this morning, therefore, we’ve been to the moon.
what about John 5:25,28 all who are in the graves will hear His voice

Hebrews 9:27.
Why bother with things that are of no consequence to your life now? If souls are in heaven or still waiting for judgement is irrelevant. Live your life here according to God's purpose, believing in Jesus Christ, and let what happens after be.
I think I get what you are saying, but I wonder if your words can be taken too far. Why would anyone bother living for Jesus if there is no hope of glory in the future?
@@deanfry879 There is hope for glory in the future for those that are of Christ. The important thing is not to get into false doctrine that isn't biblically sound.

AMEN! I visited the SDA church for a long time, they are in error. I’ve had friends who were JW, they are in error. I have friends or families who are Catholic, in this regard and several others, they are in error. Another verse we could point to is when JESUS said…Mark 12: 26Now about the dead rising-have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account of the burning bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’ d ? 27He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!” Also, in the transfiguration…how could Moses and Elijah be there with CHRIST if they were sleeping or in purgatory? Sadly…some people are more religious than they are faithful. Some of these matters are disputable and do not effect salvation but there are core truths that Christians still debate and these could be mortal.
Please explain 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18 for me
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 contradict what he is saying. Ignore what he said and read it again. Also read Ecclesiastes 9:5-6.
I wonder if the body sleeps and our spirit returns to God. Ecclesiastes: 12v7
So why do they refer to believer's deaths as "sleep" if there is no such thing as "soul sleep"?
In death, the separation of the soul from the body, the human body decays and the soul goes to meet God to be judged. Each person receives their eternal retribution in their immortal souls at the very moment of death in a particular judgement that refers their life to Christ. Either entrance into heaven, through a purification, or immediate and everlasting damnation.
There is no "purification" that happens after death when a believer dies. That's Catholic doctrine that's nowhere taught in Scripture.
Everyone will be there at judgment. There is a simple reason for that.
Have heard some stories of people who experinced death on the other side before being revived wonder if those are true.

There’s so many more references that I could point to, which I’m sure you’ve read. I hope you will come to find you are under a false organization, which keeps you in a bubble away from the true word of God. The Greek and Hebrew original texts are available. The English translation in most Bibles is accurate. There is evidence of the Jehovah’s Witnesses changing the new world translation overtime. Please consider. Please know the true God. That’s what eternal life is all about. Please know the true Jesus. I say this in love and care for you and your loved ones.

He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

A M E N brother. I like how you explained this bc there are some I know who believe in 'soul sleep'. I usually avoid getting into a long drawn out discussion with them bc usually I don't get anywhere, and before it turns into a heated argument, I either try and change the subject or just walk away. 🙏❤
What he said contradicts Scripture.
The power of sin is the law?
If our souls go to Heaven, why would we need to wait for the resurrection for our bodies, I thought we are to receive new bodies ?
We are. New spirtual bodies. Not the exact body you have now. Just a figure of speech
Great question. We will have physical bodies, as Jesus had when he was resurrected. Remember, He was able to be touched, and He ate, as well.
We don't go to heaven. Our souls are asleep in the grave (Ecclesiastes 9:5-6) until resurrection.

Are we at the same age when we go to heaven or do we become young again?
I do not know but I think that age och and living forever does not going so well together. Think about a body that age who is like 1000000 years old. How would that look like? I think there is no time in heaven.
What about 2 Corinthians vs 10? When will we be judged?
What about Ecclesiastes 9:5 ...but the dead know nothing & 1 Thessalonians 4:14 -16 Describing the condition of the dead as those who have fallen asleep.16 The dead in Christ will rise 1st?? Unless our souls return back in2 our bodies. Which makes little sense because our bodies will be corrupted.
what about abrahams bosom? genuene question
Think about how comforting it will be seeing and hearing people, including your loved ones, screaming at the top of their lungs in pain and agony 24/7.
Amen the very thing on my Heart you validated 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Question: what does it mean the dead will rise 1st 1 Thessalonians 4:16
Soul sleep is Biblical. Ps 146:4 and Ecc 9:5,10
How are either of these verses evidence of that? Psalms says " when their spirit departs they return to the ground" referring the princes we shouldn't put our trust in because ultimately when they die they return to " the ground" as in return to dust ... Ecc 9: 5 is saying once you're dead all opportunity for rewards are gone nothing comes after that
@@Dwights_trash_can I thought it was obvious. "On that very day his thoughts perish." Who don't have thoughts? The dead. Do spirit bodies have thoughts? Yes. Do dead humans? No.
Jesus was in the grave for the better part of 3 days and after his resurrection didn't ascend to heaven for another 40 days.
Many Christians who believe they go to heaven immediately at their death, also believe that unbelievers immediately go to hell when they die. Yet, there is no scripture verse that I can find that says unbelievers go to hell when they die.
And if to be "absent from the body" means to be with the Lord in heaven, couldn't being "absent from the body" also mean being with Satan in hell? The apostle Paul says nothing about that at all.
😏 Exactly ✅
Absolutely!
Satan is not in hell. It’s a common misconception that he is the ruler of hell and tortures people there for fun. Jesus said “I have the keys to hell and death”. Satan roams the world! The earth is his kingdom. Hell was created for the devil and his angels to punish them. Satan is not in hell and I don’t believe he ever has been. He will go there eventually though. This is what the bible teaches.
@@guymontag349 Jesus told us where people ho when they die: to She'ol, or Hades, which I understand to be the "holding place" for the dead, until the Day of resurrection.
And as we see, there us a huge chasm separating the two places.
When the poor Lazarus died, he came to the "bosom of Abraham".
And when the rich man died, he went to the other side.
@@ingela_injeela both sides can hear and see each other. Just how comforting is it to hear and see millions of people, including your loved ones, screaming at the top of their lungs in pain and agony 24/7?
Yahushua was telling this parable to the pharisees.
Well, how do you explain the book of John 3:13? And no man hath ascended up to heaven,....
then when do they face judgement day. because they can't go to heaven without being judged first
As if you really know
Hi. Can you expand on this teaching please? Like a part 2? I’m still a little confused.
I know parts of the Bible say when Jesus returns He’ll bring back those that already died and are with heaven with Him.
But then the thief on the cross went to paradise, Abraham’s bosom. Not Heaven Heaven.
And God is creating a New Heaven and a New Earth. So when do we go there?
Was it paradise was before the new covenant or before Jesus rose again, Heaven is after resurrection, and new Heaven and new earth is after the return when everyone else is swooped up from earth and judged?
Take a look at Matthew 27:52-53. Let's see what that answers for you and what other questions it raises.
@@deanfry879 thank you. Yeah, that’s even more confusing. So the bodies of the saints from the past went up already. I’m assuming those are the ones that will come back with Jesus when He returns. So I’d insert them into that part. I still don’t know where they went though. Did they go to paradise, or third heaven with God. Or are they the same.
I’m confused because they go up to third heaven. And sheol, the good and bad side are described as being below. Like an underworld.
I think I need to find a timeline type description for a visual aid or something. lol. Thank you for the verses. They help paint a better picture for me. I think I’m going to make that visual aid myself if I can’t find a good one.
@@Zerael071people who die are dead and know nothing at all until either the first resurrection which happens at the end of the tribulation (the pretrib rapture theory isn't in Scripture) and these people are the redeemed or the second resurrection which happens at the end of the millennial reign of Christ and these are the condemned. The millennial reign starts after the tribulation. The saints that come back with Yahushua can't be people because they haven't been resurrected yet. They are His angels and they will gather His people starting with the dead in Christ and then the living.
After the second resurrection which is after the millennium, it's judgment day and then the condemned will be thrown into the lake of fire and everything will be burned up and a new heaven and new earth will be created. The new heaven is the sky and it will not have a sun or moon. The redeemed will live on the new earth for eternity.
I don't have all the answers but I know more than most Christians s😢 i will answer any of your questions if I can.
@@robertschmidt9296 i really appreciate you taking the time to write that out. Thank you.
@@Zerael071 you're welcome. I was confused for many, many years until I started reading what the Scriptures actually says and not from the mindset of what I was taught that it says. Now it makes sense.
Philippians 1:21-24 KJV
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
Purgatory. Unless u r super holy n have no sins at your death , which is impossible for adults as bible said. Even the holiest person sinned 7x
Jesus
"Today" - this is confusing because, didnt Jesus after he died on the cross, descend into hell, then on the third day rose again from the dead? So does paradise mean heaven, or just the state of bejng in paradise because today, when the thief repented he is forgiven?
Saved only inherit new earth, they don't go to Heaven at death, remember 1000 years as a day to God, so you can be at Resurrection in next 5 minutes or less.
When sharing content from the Bible, could you first introduce which denomination you come from?
As a Protestant this video is misinformed. Every Jew believed we go to Sheol when we die. If you look the Greek for the paradise Jesus is referring to in the cross you will see it’s referring to the Jewish idea of a positive resting place in Sheol. Also you wildly misrepresented Catholics idea of purgatory
Yes in old testament times everybody went to Sheol but it was divided like u can see in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man.
After Jesus's d eath He went to Sheol to collect the believers and took them to heaven.
True born again believers don't go to Sheol, they go to heaven.
@@andrevisser7542 idk how that can be true if there is still a resurrection from the dead like revelation speaks of. After the resurrection we get new bodies ect not before. Believers who died get the keys to death that Christ gave them upon descending but that doesn’t raise them from the dead until the second coming. Could you provide some scriptures for your point please, blessings.
