If you've got a cracked iPhone XR screen and are attempting this repair, good luck! You've got this. One quick note about iPhone screen replacements: Apple disables some features (like True Tone) after a screen replacement. They have proprietary tools to calibrate the new display and re-enable those features, but unfortunately we don't have access to those tools, and you probably don't either. That said, your new display should otherwise look and function completely normally after a repair! Don't be afraid to attempt this repair yourself. In *newer* iPhones (iPhone 11 and up) Apple goes as far as to pair the original display with the Logic board, and throws an annoying error message in your face after a screen replacement--even if the replacement is a genuine Apple display. You can read more about it here: bit.ly/2GpzbEj. Again, this annoying error message only happens in iPhones that are newer than the XR, so it won't be a problem with this repair.
If you may or may not know, there’s an equipment already that can copy the code from your old display to your new display to bring back True Tone functionality
Just did this screen replacement with earpiece replacement - thanks for the guide. Those really tiny screws were a pain in the arse. Btw. I bought a new earpiece, the old one wasn't working at all. Never used faceid anyway. Btw 2. I had drank a bottle of wine and 4 beers, so anyone can do this.
First try, got it perfectly, sealed flawless, no torn ribbons and no stripped screws. I'm feelin funky fresh. Customer says its like the day it was opened, and face rec even works.

But the tutorial is accurate and i got to fix my first iphone xr in one try hehehehehehe.
As an acmt for 5 years and stopped being that in 2017, i've just replaced my smashed screen following the direction of this video and it worked out great. Patience is the key when doing it the first time. Also having the right tools is very important.
Excellent video, thanks! My replacement screen came with no sensor bracket, so I had to remove that from the old screen *and* remove the earpiece grill from the new screen (because the old grill remained attached to the bracket).
Alright i have tried this and it is quite hard. Some screedrivers can be damaged which leeds to frustration and anger because you can't really lossen the screews. But i was lucky and managed to get through the process from start to finish.
I’d recommend asking for others to do this, in case you want to have True Tone. As long as they have screen configurators, it will keep saying it’s not a legit screen but True Tone will work just like it did before
Just got done doing it..took me about 30 mins. Luckily the replacmenet screen came with the shield plate so i could skip a step. The hardest part was trying to get the phone open with all the adhesive.. had no heated pad
But why? iFixit parts are super expensive. iPhone 11 Pro Max Screen is $399 just for the part, when apple will repair it for you for $329. I would trust Apple more than myself for basic stuff like this
Ari Bloch i work at a phone repair shop. We are legit, use programmers, adhesives, proper equipment, clean environment and have a variety of screens to choose from ranging from Economy-OEM screens. We charge 150 the least on XRs.
@@Ciso_diagnostics I think that's the only way that makes sense. iFixit is unreasonably expensive and not a great business model in my opinion. Overcomplicated this so much: 1 - don't need the silly iOpener tool. Just use a heat gun for a few seconds 2 - don't need those junk suction cup openers that break after 2 days to open it, a thin $5 metal spudger can open it. 3 - don't need tweezers or picks 4 - don't need to discharge your battery to 25% 5 - don't need to take off the LCD shield, as most new XR screens come with it 6 - They didn't test the screen before installing it 7 - They didn't use True Tone copy machine to copy True Tone over
40 min to finish?! maybe for you that do this on a daily basis - took me about 1.5hrs and i've replaed screens before. taking it a part = no problem. Putting back together = frustrating! getting the little screws in place is lv 10 hard! but good video, tools and screen i bought from ifixit. would use them again but would set me expectations to double the time.
