This guy just sold his company for 100 mill and he’s here spending his time trying to teach good habits to young people. The method resonates with people, the logic and explanations are fantastic. Great job Alex, keep it up!
If everybody in the world drank like me there would be no alcoholics but there would be no alcohol industry either. I went through phases of the weekend warrior drinking mode. Highschool. University. Later in adult life. I am effectively a cheap drunk now and will never go back to drinking heavily. It is of no interest. I have the occasional glass of wine, sometimes have a beer, or even share a beer. Completely inconsistent. Sometimes I go all week sometimes weeks without drinking. Saves money and better for my health. If I ever change it'll be to stop completely, not increase drinking. I enjoy being fit and mountain biking so alcohol is detrimental. Having said that I will consider eliminating alcohol.
I went sober last summer and it’s the greatest thing I ever did. I was an alcoholic, far beyond a weekend warrior, but weekend warrior is what it started with. I now have 3x the bandwidth, physical and mental energy, my insomnia has gone away, mental health has improved drastically, feel amazing, and have met the woman I’ll likely spend the rest of my life with.
I still drink alone at times just one or two to take the edge off which I've been working on reducing so it's like every 2.weeks now.. I'm not a weekend warrior drinker but I'm in my 50's.and as a woman that is not exactly a sacrifice..when I was much younger I still didn't like drinking more than.2 days in a row so I kept that in check n it was usually only because 2 social events planned in a row. I was always already outgoing n deep yet also funny n some of my friends were a bit like that as well. Meaning I enjoyed them sober as well via phone or in person but any kind of big group setting I felt it was much easier even though surrounded by people I really liked individually n connected with. I think it's just that group conversations can never be as enjoyable than one on one or small group like 3-4 tops. I rarely go to larger group functions now.
Bless you all for the likes. ❤️ Alcoholic for 10 years, destroyed my military career, destroyed every relationship romantic or family. Sober for sixty days and I'm done for life I'm finally getting everything back I lost. I pray we all take this step.
Can I tell you just how truly happy I am for you? I’m truly happy for you!!! Can I tell you how happy your family is? Your family is so happy! Don’t ever ever ever go back, no matter what. No exceptions. God Bless you, have a REAL life😊
I can relate, got out of the Corps as a private. All drinking related NJP's. Seperated from my wife a couple times, drinking related. Destroyed friendships, drinking related. Traumatized my kids with drunken rage. The list goes on. I'm slowly gaining respect from friends and family after 2 years of almost zero drinking. I occasionally slip with business dinners etc, but will never go back into that rabbit hole of addiction.
Exactly. I went out to bars countless times 100% sober and it's the best experience for anyone who is trying to quit drinking. Staying away from alcohol isn't how you quit. It's being able to be around alcohol, being completely cool with being sober and feeling even happier without it. I did NOFAP and quit drinking, so my awareness was off the charts. I noticed how stupid everyone was acting X10.
@@MegaasAlexandros yes, I quit drinking and did NOFAP at the same time. NOFAP helps you quit other addictions (it gives you a mental/physical edge). BTW I'm not suggesting to go out sober to bars or parties/gatherings on a regular basis because eventually anyone could slip up. Just at least 3 times sober and then you can make your own decisions on what is best for you going ahead. From my experience, I went out the first time and it was tough being sober but I didn't slip. Then the second time wasn't so bad at all (just felt sort of neutral about it). And the third time I was like "wow this is easy," in which I honestly felt more comfortable in my own skin then everyone at the bar. The reason NOFAP helps is because of all the benefits (long list). People who drink are more often than not looking to escape reality due to some sort of underlying insecurity or they simply just want a shortcut to feeling better than they already do instead of being grateful for how they feel sober. I can go on a long rant but if you have never tried NOFAP for at least 30 days before, definitely give it a try and you'll see what I mean.
@@bhurley1743 that was a prompt response and a good one at that. I've done no fap for 60 days and found it a lot easier than I thought but was expecting a lot more benefits than it offered (I did see benefits but expected greater ones). Also didn't drink hardly at all during covid due to being part of the longest locked down city in the world (at that time). The reason for my question was because I was going to ask quitting these two habits brought you benefits, which one was more beneficial? As you quit them both together thst would be hard to answer though.
@@MegaasAlexandros I've relapsed with both on numerous occasions, which I could explain why but that is a whole other story. I've gone about 136 days on my longest streak of NOFAP and as for alcohol I didn't have a sip for about 3 years. I've gone back to both (mainly due to not caring) and quit again due to the shitty side effects (also religious beliefs). I understand what you mean about NOFAP because flatlines come and go throughout the journey (sometimes subtly to the point where you barely notice but the NOFAP benefits seem almost non-existent). My best experience was when I was taking natural testosterone boosters (tribulus, DAA, Chrysin, DIM, etc) while on NOFAP and when I was sober too because I felt amazing. I'd probably say I noticed more benefits from NOFAP to a certain extent but the worst hangovers I had were not as bad as the days I relapsed from PMO on a heavy binge (caused lots of anxiety and very low energy). I noticed as I got older (I'm 36) I am way less affected by PMO but more affected by alcohol (my body cannot tolerate it as well). From my overall experience I'd have to say that both of those addictions go hand in hand. If I drink alcohol 99% of the time I will eventually release to PMO and if I relapse to PMO it's like I cannot go to social gatherings with my friends without being as outgoing or feel normal without alcohol. The best benefit from both is definitely energy. It's the most underrated benefit. If you bust nuts it always takes a couple days of NOFAP (at least) to where you don't feel tired in the morning as soon as you wake up and the same goes with alcohol (especially since I have gotten older and it now takes me 2 days to fully recover from feeling super lazy but obviously depending on how much I drink). If you have any questions feel free to ask and I can answer them better tomorrow since I am running on very little sleep while sending this. God bless you, my friend!
As a recovering alcoholic who still craves it, this video was very helpful to put in perspective why I gave it up and why I keep on the path. 16 months 17 days sober.
When everything was shut down in march 2020, I became a “day drinker”. Three years later, I’m 15 lbs heavier and have a “wine body”. A few weeks ago, my husband and I decided to stop drinking and start eating better and working out. Today, I’m down 8 lbs and feel great! My goal is to stay on this track and lose another 12 lbs! 🎉
Alcohol truly does hold you hostage. People need to realize that it takes weeks and even months to recalibrate their brains, since alcohol is a neurotoxin that has long-term effects. People get sober for a month and convince themselves that this is what sobriety feels like. You can’t poison yourself for cheap thrills for years and expect to pay that debt in a week or month. Stick with it. You got this. 💪
It also greatly helps if people start new hobbies, join a local soft ball team, go to AA meetings, workout etc. to help fight off the need to drink again and build up their will power mental toughness
Thanks for this long term perspective, I really needed to hear that to keep on track and stick with it, on day 12 at moment after years of very heavy regular drinking.
I quit after I met someone who was sober and always had been because both of his parents were alcoholics. He told me that, "Alcohol has never done anything to benefit anyone on this Earth." That resonated with me and I reflected on my past. He was right in my case.
I’m super proud of you. I think I need to take responsibility for my bad habits as well! It means a lot to me when people achieve such a beautiful outcome by quitting something, especially when they know it’s ruining them and others. Good job
Alex, as a middle aged woman, I am not your target demographic for this video. However, I found this video very inspiring as I deal with my struggles with binge drinking. What you said makes a lot of sense. Thank you.
I think the message can apply for anyone trying to quit. I'm mid 30s dad with kids, I am just going to take all of those ideas that sound exciting for a single dude and replace them with more fun things I can do with and for my kids who deserve more.
I, too, am a middle-aged woman who served in the Navy where drinking was the norm. Being a weekend warrior has been my routine for far too long. This deeply connects with me, and now I aspire to make positive changes and strive for personal growth. I am fully prepared to become the best version of myself.
I am also a middle aged woman who had a serious drinking problem. He mentions the book this talk is based on “Easy way to control alcohol”. This book is a Godsend. I for the audiobook and long story short, it saved my life. If you want to know how to stop, this book is the answer.
I agree. Binge drinking for 30 years and more. I fooled myself into believing I could easily get sober. Well, it's a daily process to stay sober. And so damn worth it!!
I am sober for a couple of years now. I stopped counting the days, when I heard Tony Robbins ask "Why are you counting?". Counters are the ones who still see alcohol as part of their identity.
Exactly. I found out that when I was 'counting' I ended up thinking about booze more and more. I fell off the wagon a more easily when I was counting. Also, going 'cold turkey' didn't work for me. It is a process and a struggle. Best of luck to everybody and God Bless!
I gave up Alcohol 10 months ago. The irreversible damage alcohol does to your brain was the reason I gave up. If I knew this earlier in life I would never have touched alcohol to begin with! Interesting video Alex, cheers!
It's spiritual warfare, the enemy keeps one isolated, to seek, kill & destroy a person. Which means they usually have a very high calling in life by God. Just call out to him in Jesus name, only he can totally take that desire away and heal your body, organs completely healed. Mind, heart, soul & your spirit! Restore your life back to you, everything the devil stole you will get back! Especially Time, broken relationships, your health, wealth. Broken dreams healed!
I've been hungover for the last two days due to drinking and am pretty damn certain this is the last time I want to drink. This video came at a proper time, this is the content we want Alex.
I was a late bloomer in drinking. I grew up with alcoholics & swore I would not. I married someone who would say, “it’s no big deal” as he would put a glass of wine in front of me for 13 years. Unfortunately, I gave in. I’m no longer with him & I’m giving up alcohol. Thank you for this video. Blessings to all 💛
I started drinking when I was 16..warrior drinking started at 18, took a break from 21-23, started back until 27...it's my go to for escape. Alcohol is terrible for your brain and emotional state but so are many other habits that we turn to for escape and pleasure!! If you are reading this I hope and pray for healing in your life starting right now ❤
I did 1 entire year of drinking everyday, i had some savings and this was during a crisis in my country i couldnt get a job and anxiety attacked me with a litle bit of depression, but this actually helped me with anxiety, then i said to myself i was tired of anxiety, it stoped and i returned to drinking at weekends only and now has been 2 years with out drinking. We can win this sh*t bro
True but being addicted to chocolate and sweets is not the same as being addicted to alcohol and other hard drugs . A person will not loos their family, job , and finances to eat chocolate
I quit for about 2 years and felt great! But that’s exactly when I wanted to drink again, because I felt in control and felt so good. It’s easy to quit when you’re feeling like crap. The key is to NEVER drink again. No matter what. Anything else is your mind tricking you.
That's so true. This year I quit 3 times, and after a couple of weeks each time (except last) I felt so great, that I thought I can control it. But no. Now on a third time.
I am allergic to alcohol...if I drink it I will develop a craving that is beyond my mental control...and I will drink to stop the craving over and over until I drink myself to death.
Beer isn't for getting drunk or wasted, how ever you want to call it. Beer is not to be drunken to excess, as with anything good,… supposing good beer. I drink beer because it's healthy for me, along with a good/great diet, of which beer is part of a healthy diet.
Thank you! I was daily drinker, 3-18 beers per day, depenting on what I had next day. Now I've been almost 3 weeks completely sober, and this video gave me even more motivation to stay sober for the rest of my life!
Drank basically every day from ages 21-26. When I was peeling myself away from alcohol I also read "The Easy Way to Control Alcohol" by Allen Car. He of course makes a million good points, but I'm glad to see you mention the one that stuck with me most, which is when he talks about childhood. When you drink regularity you associate things like having fun, being adventurous, meeting new people, etc with alcohol. But as a kid, you experienced those things all the time. I'd get so excited just to go to the museum or go biking for example. Kids will be nervous and shy when you first bring them to a party, then within about 20 minutes they start socializing. The human body, which Allen Car calls the "incredible machine", is fully capable of secreting the chemicals and hormones that bring the experience of wonder and beauty into life. We've all experienced it. 0 poison required! I still drink on occasions (weddings or birthdays for example), but my average ideal weekend now is just going for a long walk in the city and doing new things, an early morning workout, or just chilling at home doing some deep work and cooking a good meal. Alcohol is so insane, it really does kidnap your base emotions and hand them back for a fee 😅
Exactly. I try to remember the way I used to be; not needing the influence of drugs or alcohol to enjoy my life and be a great person. I was so interesting. I was studying 5 different languages, meeting beautiful women, galavanting around with my homies and skateboarding. The goal is to get back there. Keep hitting the gym, keep surfing, keep meeting beautiful ladies, keep moving forward with my skills and abilities. The high you get from being intelligent, attractive and fun to be around will always, ALWAYS outweigh the lifestyle of an addict. Find your inner strength and run with that shit.
Glad I quit drinking a few months back. Sometimes it still makes me feel alone because I am usually the only one not drinking, but that’s something I am willing to sacrifice. Great vid❤
"All the reasons why you drink is to solve problems it created in the first place" - Alex Becker. Six years without alcohol after reading the book. I came here for a reminder. Thank you, Friend.
This sums my experience up in the first 40 seconds. Not drinking is a superpower. Confidence, clarity of mind, self-esteem. If you want more out of yourself. Stop
I’m turning 25 in a month and you just described my past 5 years perfectly. Not a weekend without a bender, always looking forward to the next one. Went three weeks sober and broke it 4 days ago, next day had a panic attack and experienced the worst feeling of guilt ever. Time to stop for real and gain back control.
Feel you man. Couple weeks ago got way too drunk at college and had a massive panic attack the next day. Trying to cut down but it’s hard with the social temptation with my friends
Man you just described my entire life 30 year alcoholic, came across this video and you are speaking nothing but facts about drinking, it’s time I woke up this morning thinking about quitting drinking and get on TH-cam and the first thing I see is this video thanks champ 💪🏿
Been wanting to quit social drinking for months. You explaining the drinking social group literally described every friend group I’ve been apart of in college. Thanks for opening my eyes to this
There comes a point in my nights out drinking where I see what’s going on and I feel sad and hate what’s happening. Those moments are the moments of clarity. I’m not really having fun. I’m just dumbing myself to enjoy a situation
That’s actually what I just realized while listening to this video. I pretty much drink everyday because I feel like it’s the only way I can have fun and relax. I just realized that I don’t even have fun when I drink and I’m probably just as, or even more miserable with myself when I am drinking. It’s a total mindfuck
Thanks man, I quit drinking totally 9 days ago and feel great. Today is Sunday, and I made it through the weekend without drinking. Feel totally excellent. Now, I just gotta find new friends that are on the same level as me. You’re video came at the exact, precise time I needed it. Thanks again!
I was a terrible Alcoholic, drinking everyday all day. I finally got sober because I was going to lose the respect of my sons. I have been sober now for over 10 years and have never felt better❤😊
Had enough nights of completely embarrassing myself thinking I could “control” it and never being able to…the person I am when I’m drinking is not me and I’m so ready to rid the poison from my life.
I’ve never had a drinking problem but when I do go out & drink socially, I absolutely hate the morning after effects. I feel sluggish and not as “clear”. I recently met someone who’s older (50s) & has never drank or smoked a day in their life. Their health is superb, skin is super clear, in shape, and they look 10 years younger than what they are. From seeing how they look at their age it got me thinking of quitting drinking completely. Then, BOOM, I see this video coming down my timeline 👀 this may be a sign
@@andrewrogers5962 sir, this video is to help people make better choices around alcohol. Why would I continue a destructive behavior until I crave it everyday before I make a healthy change. The question is not why I’m commenting. The question is why are you mad that I’m commenting in the COMMENT SECTION. I think you have bigger problems to worry about outside of policing the comment section. I hope you get better soon.
@@andrewrogers5962 Thank you for being respectful, my apologies if I came off sharply. I have family members that have problems with alcohol so even though I drink socially, it’s always been a worry of mine so keep an eye on it. After watching this video, it made me analyze my behaviors more. Like I said, I have a hangover the next morning yet, I would still make the decision to go out and drink again the following weekend. So now I’m wondering “why do you do this?”. I’ve went out with friends and tried not to drink but always gave into the temptation. Now, do I have a drinking problem like those in my family that choose to drink even though they have severe liver problems? No. But it makes me very uncomfortable that I find it hard not to drink when I want to stop. Idk if that makes sense but I feel like I’m telling myself, “I can stop anytime” but when I’m around alcohol I choose to drink instead of just ordering a soda. I’m not a brazen alcoholic but I want to nip things in the bud before it gets to that point.
I am not a alcoholic but suffer from Weed addiction and feels like it’s ruining my life. I will apply this for my self and find my true self again. Thank you Alex Becker, this was very informative 🙏🏽
Being "addicted" to weed is child's play compared to alcohol. You are just being weak minded. Just quit u clown. Yes, you are going to sweat like crazy, have a hard time sleeping, get annoyed easy and probably be more anxious, but this period only last for like a week or so. After 5 days, give or take, you are going to be more energetic, have a mentally clarity you haven't had in years and just feel a new appreciation for life. And remember, you don't have to quit weed for life, but you need a break man.
I hear you on the weed dude, I can't stand it anymore. I stopped for 2 months and felt absolutely incredible But then drank and smoked again, munched on McDonald's and felt ridiculously sick the next day. It's a sign lol. We can do this everyone! Thank you Alex.
Lmao saaaaaame. I started weed around 15/16 and stopped between 17-21 because it wasn't legal at the time. Low-key don't remember my mental state in those 4 years but the SECOND weed was legalized and i was 21 i just BINGED. Carts are the devil bro, the absolute access you have to weed because of carts is so saturating. Flower is cool if you space it out but no! I am not someone who can moderate weed! 5 years of my life just...plateauing because weed makes everything seem "fine" you get complacent and just think things are ok while smoking. I personally get quiet and in my head 90% of the time around people. Mayyyyybe 10% i get social. I manage to go on some breaks because "if i don't buy it I won't smoke it". Duh. The problem is finding a way to distract and cope with the absolutely dreadful weed withdrawals and not just jumping back into the weed to cope. I used to LOVE weed. Now it feels like a toxic ex you keep going back to for sloppy seconds.
For 10 years I’ve struggled with alcohol addiction (I’m 35 now). In the end I went up to 98 kg, I was a chain-smoker, I hurt myself and I was seriously depressed. I had no idea how to get out of this negative spiral. Now I’m alcohol-free for 6 months, I attend to a 12-step program 2 times a week, I quit smoking, I workout 4-5 times a week, and I’ve lost 30 kg. That’s the difference between being addicted to alcohol and being free of it. And I’d like to add: I didn’t start out as an addict, I was a weekend warrior myself once upon a time. It was a gradual, sneaky-shady process, it kind of creeped up on me. Also: it’s hard to keep away from alcohol when everybody is socialized to drink it - it’s the cool thing, the celebration-ritual drink, it’s what our authority figures also do. So… the sober society is a minority. Lastly: abstinent people can be boring, lazy, toxic, underachievers too. Not drinking doesn’t make you a superhero (as you try to portray) it. But not damaging yourself on a regular level definitely helps. Anyway, my trauma made me wiser, I try to harness the truths of it - but I do hope your view on the subject gets to more and more people and society changes its distorted, grotesque relationship to alcohol.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I'm 37 now and struggling badly atm with alcohol, it definitely destroys so much. I hope I can be like you one day.
@@xenalina2694 thank you for your kind words. I’m sorry for your pain. When people ask me if it was hard to give up alcohol, I always say it was harder to bear the pain of being addicted to it. It consumed me more and more and I felt I have no willpower to put it down. I was sick of being sick, if you know what I mean. I was crying out for someone to save me. I don’t know what was the final straw or what helped me to finally put it down, but then the healing rewarded me more and more. I’m grateful for it, and I’m sending love to you to shine your light. :)

You literally saved a soul from being an average Joe and turned it into an entrepreneur. Alex, I will always be in debt with you.
its one thing to think you will do something. another to actually do it.. i used to be the most optimistic person in the world.. at 36 all i do is drink.. it didnt work out. the world is not like you think.. its horribly depressing.. these people are cool with each other because they like to look at each other.. if people dont like looking at you then you have no chance. they will ostracize you and throw you out..

Alcohol and cigarettes addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

A much needed message. I’ve been on a similar journey. I run a great business, have recently been studying jiu jitsu, and removed alcohol from my life. I appreciate you, my dude!
I was 75 days sober and had a bender over the weekend. I’m glad as the bender reaffirmed that I shouldn’t drink but I had to make sure for some reason. I learned a lot in my 75 days and became happy again
When I was 14 I decided to not start drinking because I realized if I needed it to have fun, I would always need it to have fun. I am 49 and never looked back. Brilliant take on the topic Mr A Becker.
Respect Alex. On the flip side as a child who grew up with a father who loved his drink I can say it destroyed my childhood without a doubt. Its not just yourself you are effecting but the ones you love around you.😞
I stopped drinking years ago but thank you for making this video Alex. Many people need this. Alcohol steals your life away from you if you let it. Not drinking = REAL happiness.

As I put forth all my efforts into quitting drinking, it deeply saddens me that every weekend, certain so-called friends persistently reach out, tempting me to join them for a drink. I've honestly and openly shared with them, time and again, my strong commitment to staying away from alcohol. Despite their brief respite from asking, the recurrence of the same message on a weekend after a couple of weeks weighs heavily on my heart, leaving me to wonder if they truly value our friendship or if they are simply seeking the companionship of alcohol.
This is the best video you've ever made. I hope people take serious thought about what you say here. You took the words right out of my mouth. I was a MASSIVE binge drinker for all the reasons you mentioned (besides the taste) I thought I had to get fucked up to socialise. I tried to stop even when I was at uni. Would have a few sober nights out but overall I would always be the guy who got wayout of control 99% of time. Finally got to 2023 and I've been sober the whole year. I got wasted for the last time NYE and haven't looked back. It's been very easy because I just got so sick of it. All the benefits you mentioned are 100% accurate. I've also been out to party a few times. Less than I used to, but I've been out, danced, talked to random people who were capable of having an actual conversation, had fun and took the piss out of my friend's who were a mess, thankful that I finally saw I didn't need or want alcohol anymore. Life has been nothing but better since going sober.
What if you just hate being social and want to be left alone, but sometimes you’re forced to be social. Drinking is definitely social lubrication for those who don’t want to be social, but are forced to.
I used to get hammered all the time in my early 20s and my life was falling apart. One day I got horrible arrhythmia from alcohol and went to the ER. They checked my heart and said it was nothing to really worry about, they were not the "dangerous kind" and most people have many a day and just don't feel it, I was just very sensitive to the feeling. Still, it freaked me out so bad, I have not had a drink ever since. That was 18 years ago. After that, I got back in shape and finished my degrees in engineering, including a PhD. I got married,, started a company and my life turned towards a better direction. Thanks, dear arrhythmia, could not have made it without you, I guess 😅
THANKS DEAR Arrythmia (LOLOLOLOL) Well, first of all, congratulations for having that will power. I could only imagine how bad it was when you use the word "hammered" Keep it up, and thanks for sharing. It was certainly your arrhythmia and your intuition, will power and wisdom that seemed to have kicked in and you listened immediately. Good job!!!
Funny that. Kinda turned to drinking because school was soul crushing and everything felt like shit. I wont say drinking makes stuff any better thought. Your head hurts and everything is, surprisingly i know , still shit but less comfortable.

The key to unlocking for me was the realization that I had fun before touching alcohol as a kid and it allowed me to actually tap into my inner child more. You can have even more fun without it friends.
This is exactly how I felt during dry January! It can definitely happen and it’s real! I felt true fun & laughter with my friends even though they were drinking.

Lost $4 million in a stock I was fully invested in. Became a complete alcoholic afterwards. Lost my girl, got a dui, got into massive debt. Been sober for 5 months now but I’ve fallen so hard I almost feel like nothing matters anymore. Great video. You’re absolutely right about alcohol, but sometimes in certain circumstances it just feels hopeless to try.
Recovering alcoholic here, and while this video wasn't targeted for the extremist like me, it has given me many reasons to continue my sobriety. Almost 70 days clean now
I've been in the alcohol business. I've made millions of dollars, and if I had really understood this 20 years ago, I would have many millions more. I came to a similar conclusion as you, Alex, but it took me longer in life. I am healthir and happier and busier with more interesting things now that I was 10 years ago, much younger. I am very lucky it didn't kill my health. I was drinking daily for many years.
SPECTACULAR! I've never heard the issue analyzed like this in my 52 years of life! Yes, I've gone years without drinking but I always come back to it. No excuse other than addiction, and that's no excuse. You deserve a medal brother! This really helps! God has blessed you and I'm glad he brought me to you...
Bro loving each piece of your speech, I’ve been fooled by Alcohol and this is the 1st time I am deeply thinking on quitting this nasty habit and sincerely explore the world’s wonders on my bike while sleeping & eating better…. The journey starts with the 1st step and this for sure will be the 1st man, love from Bogota COL
I am a former Toxicologist and an alcoholic. It's been 6 years since I last called myself a Toxicologist, and 3 years since I called myself an alcoholic.
My son has been sober for 2 years after his liver shut down on a 4th of July celebration. He wasn’t “hung over” he was dying and ended up in the ER. We are not talking about a fall down drunk, unproductive loser as many people think of drinkers. He was a weekend warrior, sports, shots, watching football etc and drinking went with it. At 45 he had a liver transplant that saved his life.
He did not deserve that transplant- someone who did not drink did but he got it instead. He could relapse. Usually they will not waste a good liver on a candidate like that. Like almost never. Bad investment. Not your fault- you are a victim to but these are facts. Imagine that mom of a son who never drank and hurt his liver and being told none are available...then see your son start up drinking again next year with the new liver. It is common. Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. Question is, can he control it? I hope so.
@@MOAB-UT If it makes you feel any better, my youngest son died in an accident 18 days later. 5 people in 3 States were saved. If you’d like to see his Memorial on TH-cam let me know. 2.5K condolences from people on the Internet regarding his walk of honor.
@@Lisabug2659 That is a nasty comment. I am sorry for your loss but I'm sorry, alcoholics should not be first in line for transplants. You are trying to conflate one thing for another to twist it like I am not a nice person. Suggesting anyone, or I would "FEEL BETTER" watching an honor walk is a sick notion. Your comments do not make me a bad person. There is a reason liver screenings are so meticulous. I am shocked they prioritized him. If he is doing better- that is awesome but usually they are not first in line. That is all I suggested. Am I wrong? I have nothing against you, your son or your family. You have clearly had some bad luck though for sure- that is unfortunate. Like I said, you are a victim. No one deserves what you had to go through. I assume the younger son who died was not the grown man who got the transplant? Yes, I would like to see the memorial page. It is not posted to your YTube.
Wanted to come back to tehse wideo and leave a comment. Im sober for 2 months now thanks to these. Never felt better. Never drinking againe. Thanks for the wideo it realy turned the tides in my brain. Best of luck to all the rest of you.
This video will help so many! I’m 1.5yrs sober and every aspect of my life improved when I quit drinking. Now I shout from the rooftops about how much I love sobriety. 😅 Not everyone is ready to hear this message but if they can give it a chance… life changing! ❤️👏
The comparison to turds was a powerful message. You are so right... people would literally eat turds if it made them buzzed. WOW, just WOW! Bravo on this video, man. I was skeptical at first, but this absolutely changed my perspective. It does take A LOT OF WORK to FULLY QUIT. Especially if you have been drinking for longer. I have been slowly cutting back, and this video was extremely helpful. Thank you so much.
Man, I’ve been following you for years and this video is one of the most valuable ever! Worth more than Gold my friend. This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear because I know alcohol is my biggest down fall. I’m on a trajectory of becoming a millionaire and I probably would’ve gotten there much quicker if I was sober. I would always barter with alcohol which after watching this video, I didn’t realize how much of a huge mistake it was by allowing myself to do that. I would think I need it to socialize at networking events but you’re so right, Alcohol just gets everyone on the same retarded level to where we think we’re having meaningful conversations but in reality, we’re just so blunted by alcohol that anything could be entertaining to us. Thank you so much for this. I can go on forever with how many Gems you dropped in this video but I’ll just let you know that you might have just changed my life brother.
Man, Alex, you killed it with this video, and I hope a lot of young people listen to this advice. Now at 34, I've lost so much due to alcohol. I was never an alcoholic; I was just, as you mentioned, a 'weekend warrior.' I felt like I needed it to socialize and let loose, yadi-yada, but in reality, during my 20s, I was constantly in repair mode and not at my optimal self. I started my business at 27, and I'm certain I could have been more successful and started earlier if it hadn't been for that piss drink.
For me, I am quitting after my Son told me straight and with good intentions where all my money was going and why I didn't have much else. Myself, I'm quitting, because I don't want anymore ill health, and to be a better Mother for my Son. Today is Day 1.
I'm absolutely not an alcoholic but yet I resonate with this because I use alcohol for my situations to be tolerable and to be numb so I can deal with unpleasant undesirable people in my life. This video pointed this out to me SO blatantly!! Thank you thank you thank you! This is stuff we all really know inside us that sometimes it takes someone like you to really bring it to our conscious thoughts
This makes me think of the 9 years I was in the Marine Corps. I used to be in excellent shape doing 3-a-days (a.m. cardio, lunch power lifting and hypertrophy, evening 1-2k swim), even while eating Dominos and drinking every weekend. I look back now and imagine how I could have been in even better, actual elite shape if I had just had healthier personal habits lol. I'll never know what my actual physical peak was, and I don't want anyone to ever have to ask themselves that. Your goal in your 20's should be to see just how strong, fast, and smart you can become. I hope this video reaches a lot more people, particularly the younger generations
Beer isn't for getting drunk or wasted, how ever you want to call it. Beer is not to be drunken to excess, as with anything good,… supposing good beer. I drink beer because it's healthy for me, along with a good/great diet, of which beer is part of a healthy diet.
Thanks bro I really needed to hear this, I consider myself an introvert and have been using drinking as a social lubricant for a long time now and now the hangover's and unproductivity has been getting worse. Thank you for this motivation for self-improvement. ALOHA! 🙏🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
This is TRUTH. I've looked back and see that my funnest times were alcohol free. When my dad died, I quickly started excessively drinking. I haven't had a hangover since 1993. Today, I'm going to change my lifestyle and get back into the gym and etc.
This video literally rewired the way I think about alcohol, recently I stopped for 30 days and felt great, so great I forgot how much alcohol made me feel like crap and I just got back into a similar cycle you explained right after the 30 days. After I watched this it put things back into perspective and I stopped again. Documenting it even for a day changes EVERYTHING. Thank you for this.

That’s rad. Stay the path and the best is yet to come
Im happy for you man.

I love that line...."you are drinking to try and make a boring situation fun"
And it always works 😅
That's why we drink captain obvious lol
Yea. All drugs work effectively in that way big boy.

1026 Days sober. The longest since I was 12, and I'm in my 40's now. This is a good message Mr. Becker.
If it's a true committed decision, why do you count the days?
@@shawnmclean7932 cant help it.

One day at a time, and us alcoholics do count days….
If you’re counting days you haven’t kicked the habit and never will.
If you go to a bar sober and observe how people behave when they are drinking, you realize how ridiculous being drunk is
@@bhurley1743you quit them both at the same time ?
I’m tired of negotiating with alcohol. No more.

Yep. Dopamine needs to recalibrate and that can take some time.
True I drink once every couple months and it takes that long to recover
It also greatly helps if people start new hobbies, join a local soft ball team, go to AA meetings, workout etc. to help fight off the need to drink again and build up their will power mental toughness
Thanks for this long term perspective, I really needed to hear that to keep on track and stick with it, on day 12 at moment after years of very heavy regular drinking.

3-18 beers is alcoholism. I hope you admit the problem and save your life.
Are u still sober?
How you doing now
Drank basically every day from ages 21-26.

My god.... I owe a lot to this guy.
Thank you so much for making this video bud.

Ex-Weedhead here. It was a mental addiction for me ... not physical.
You'll shake it.
@@TheJaxsonjack i just smoked some shake
Drinking for 40 years and I finally am quitting! Everything you said was right. Thanks for the help!! May every success be yours!
This is so awesome to hear! Nice work!!!
30 Kg? Wow! I also went up to 98 Kg because of drinking. Lost 8 Kg from not drinking to 4 weeks. There is hope then for more weight loss :)

They don’t value your friendship. They just want you to be a drunk like them. Misery loves company.

I hope so.

If he is doing better- that is awesome but usually they are not first in line. That is all I suggested. Am I wrong? I have nothing against you, your son or your family.
You have clearly had some bad luck though for sure- that is unfortunate. Like I said, you are a victim. No one deserves what you had to go through.

Strong work man. That was the most effective speech I’ve ever heard that makes me want to stop drinking
Man, Alex, you killed it with this video, and I hope a lot of young people listen to this advice. Now at 34, I've lost so much due to alcohol. I was never an alcoholic; I was just, as you mentioned, a 'weekend warrior.' I started my business at 27, and I'm certain I could have been more successful and started earlier if it hadn't been for that piss drink.
