Just found your channel!! Loved your interview with Mike Yates!! We homeschool as well and have found that education is NOT 1 SIZE FITS ALL!! Find what works for your child because in the end it is not about being "in school" but teaching your child to love to learn for the rest of their life. WE NEVER STOP LEARNING.
I appreciate this interview. I teach a lot of students, mostly Seniors, day in and day out, and most days I want to motivate and inspire, but there are just some times when I just want to get through day. It's a grind, but it's worth it. Thanks for the interview, John!
@@johnpapola2720 It's great, and I should do more of it. I am always trying to find relevant things for my students whether it is having them do a budget project, stock market simulation, or video contest. From a day-to-day standpoint, though, it's hard to get away from the structure of class lectures, particularly in AP courses. I have most of my kids for just one semester and most of their formal exposure to economics will be from my one semester course. I am always looking to evolve and adapt my curriculum based on student interest, but one constant over the years has been your Keynes v Hayek video!
@@DadSavesAmerica Y'all are really good! I'm a filmmaker too. Trying to make some mocrobudget TUBI films. Found this channel cause I'm trying to find a school for my kid that John Taylor Gatto would approve of. Your channel is very helpful with that.
I can say for sure, that of my peers we all have that one teacher that helped us. It wasn't the same for everyone, not even the same schools but I remember my 4th grade teacher who was and is the best lady I've ever met. When I got moved from her class down the hall to the 6th grade, I met one guy who kind of did the same for me but in a different way. If not for these 2 brilliant teachers I would never have been seen as gifted and graduated 2 years early. By 9th grade I really hated school but I remember my history teacher. He was universally well liked because he was not much older than his students, I think he was 26 or 27 and his baby face made for interesting lunch hours when new students thought he was just another student dining with his class. In fact he was the only teacher in our lunch group for my 2 years. I've since gone back and 25 years later he's still there. Although not confused for a student anymore his bright eyes have never changed. My entire point is that kids need to come to know that their teachers find them valuable, important, and most of all they need to be treated like young adults, never coddled or ignored. It takes a special person to be a teacher. Some have a rare gift for opening the world up to his or her kids. Make the best of your time, and if you even think you may want to teach, go for it!
Best interview I have seen in years! Bravo, Mr. Papola.

Thanks Jibin! You're clearly an incredible teacher. What do you think about Mike's student-lead approaches he described?

this podcast has the best cinematography
Thanks, Will! We’re filmmakers and camera geeks, so we kinda obsess with the look and lighting.
