New to the show, going into franchise was a little overwhelming coming from something as simple as Madden’s franchise. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video and break everything down.
Hey Lucas! Thank you so much for saying so! :) I'm glad that it has been helpful for you! Feel free to leave any questions that you may have along the way and best of luck!
This is an extremely helpful video as I am new to baseball and really know just about nothing but want to get into it and play mlb the show. you explained everything clearly, Thank you so much
Haha I know what you mean! It can be little overwhelming so I hope that this video will be/has been helpful! Thanks for the kind words and feel free to leave any questions that you may have :)
I know this was an introduction video to Franchise, but could you make a more advanced video going over the nuances of roster management in the offseason? I find that when spring training rolls around, I sometimes don’t have the most complete roster I could have
Hey! Appreciate you taking the time to watch! Honestly, I tried to keep things general because it can be difficult to go into the nuances of roster management in the offseason. Each team has dozens and dozens of players - each of which is unique in terms of his own contract status. The important things to remember are the things that I laid out: utilize the renewable contract trick, try not to burn years of RNW/ARB too quickly as you will reach free agent eligibility before you know it, be sure to keep your organizational needs in mind as you don't want to overpopulate one position too heavily (look at depth chart), and, of course, keep your budget in mind (especially if considering front/back-loading a contract). I apologize if there was some trouble getting all of that in this video - it was quite lengthy so I could see how some information could get lost haha. I hope that this will be helpful for you, feel free to leave any other questions, and good luck in your franchise mode! :)
@@Data782 Thank you 😁. I did find the video extremely helpful. If I could make a video request, could you go over things like platoon hitting, DH, and utility players?
Subbed just because this guide is GOAT'd. Seriously I'm new to the intricacy of baseball as a lifelong football fan and casual enjoyer of college baseball and this is exactly what im looking for! So happy to see a video bigger than 12min and shout out to you for filming and rendering all of this. Hope 2024 is great for you, man!

Hi, thanks for the great video. How do you deal with fatigue management? Do I have to change the lineup every game or there's a better way? Thanks again for your work!!
Hi there! Thanks for the kind words :) You don't have to really deal with fatigue management, the game will take care of that for you for the most part! The best way in theory would be to set your lineups to "auto" but, that'd also play with the batting order/even bench players who you don't want benched. Leaving it on manual will still give your bench players at-bats when your starters get fatigued, but some will play more than others. Keeping an eye on things is a good way to make sure it's all going smoothly but no, I wouldn't say you need to be stressed about rotating every game. Hope that helps!
As a someone who never played MLB franchise I find it very helpful mate , scouting department got me fired up to play this mode , now I have to Google teams that never won World Series and let the grind begin , altough I’m not sure if chosing that kind of team for the first time is a good idea
Super glad to hear! I'm glad that the video has been helpful :) I 100% agree, the scouting is super exciting! And if you want a team that has never won a World Series but isn't a super difficult rebuild, you could possibly consider the Padres or the Rays! There are only 5 teams that have never won a WS so that narrows it down. Best of luck and feel free to leave any questions as they arise! :)
Thank you so very much, Donald!! :) I truly appreciate the kind comment and am glad that the guide was helpful for you! Feel free to leave any questions that you may have along the way!
Great video, one thing I want to add, that the next MLB the show game they should have live franchise mode that way say if you accidentally delete a file and your in fear of restarting all over from scratch, it will be left off to the current season, that way all the stats will be real and the games as well NBA 2k did something like this but for some reason they don’t do it anymore
Great vid, I never knew abt the 80% resign trick. You picked my team too. After 2 years Verlander and Max contract comes off the books they have alot of free money.
Thanks for the vid, believe it or not I watched this video in a year where I led the Mets to bottom of the division and the next year I won the WS in 7.
Hi, great video. I have much better understanding now. However, have you noticed that if you sim games (through date) CPU then don't use your lineups / batting order. Do you just don't care about that or you have a workaround?
Hi there! Glad to hear that the video was helpful for you! :) I'm not sure if I'm fully understanding your question. You're saying that you set your batting order, simulate through a game in the calendar, then find that the order was changed? Was it just for the game or, when you go to your lineup again, have you found that it's been changed? If that's the case, you probably have "lineups/rotations" set to "auto" instead of "manual." Double check your settings (55:47) and let me know!
@@Data782I checked it again. Everything on manual in settings and CPU didn't change my lineups but it used its own for a game that I simulated completely. This isn't a big deal since I quick manage them but I thought maybe there is a fix. I used to play all 162 because coming from football/soccer games I thought I shouldnt just "skip". But it's way nicer when I quick manage and play 1 in 5.
That's very, very odd.. I guess your manager is making changes but I'm not sure why your lineups are being overridden. I've never seen that. How do you know for certain that the game isn't following your order? Maybe the box score presents an order according to something else and doesn't reflect the order which was actually used? Just thinking out loud 🤔
@@Data782I didn't get notification about your reply, sorry. There is a possibility that box score doesn't show batting order but orders it according to something else. That's the only way to explain.
Looking forward to it! Franchise Mode in The Show is great but hasn't been changed very much in a while so I'll be excited to see if 24 brings any surprises like customizing the season. Thanks again! ❤️
Awesome video!. Im not sure if my situation was answered though, hopefully you can help. I ran a full season with two teams. one NL and one AL. automatic save was on as soon as I advanced the day. When I got to the final day of the season, I made a separate save for that day thinking I would be able to go through the playoffs once with my NL team, then go back and load up the separate save file and then play though with my AL team. So far, when I go to "Load file" it says there are no files to load. I can only see the file I saved at the beginning of the playoffs in the save screen. how do I access that file/day in the season so I can go through the playoffs again?
Hey there! Thanks for the kind words! :) That's a tough question.. In theory, creating a separate save file should be all that you need to do. I'd try something like going into the Franchise Mode and saving one file as, say, "AL" and then do the exact same thing and call it "NL." Before advancing a day, I'd exit Franchise and go to "load file" and check if the two AL and NL titled files are there. Sometimes things can get messed up when the save files are called the date and they may save over one another. Give that a shot and let me know what you see!
You should only add a drafted player to your 40-man roster when you're ready to play them in the MLB, OR if they've been in your organization for 4-5 years (depends on how old they were when drafted) and you want to keep them from being eligible to be claimed in the Rule 5 draft - whichever comes first. Let me know if that helps!
Thank you kindly! :) It is my understanding that, to get the most updated rosters, all you need to do is start the game with an online connection! The game will automatically download the newest versions when they become available on a biweekly basis. If you want to double check this.. 1. Open up MLB The Show 23 and go to main menu. 2. Go to the "Settings" in the top right corner. 3. Select the "File Management" and then "Load." 4. Select "Rosters" and then "Live Roster." And you're good to go! If there's something missing/an update is taking too long, you can always download a custom one from the roster vault (2:32). Hope that helps! :)
Great Video, since mlb24 works exaclty the same, it's still up to date. However, as I'm new to baseball I really struggle with in-game tactics and decision making. When do I sub my pitcher? How do I pitch in a way that makes sense and how do I learn about all these different throwing and batting options and when to use them? I think the game does a great job, telling me HOW to do something, but it does not tell me WHAT I should or could do in a specific situation..
Precisely! In-game, it comes down to your decision as a manager. You can sub your pitcher when his energy and/or confidence is getting low, once he gives you a quality start, etc. I usually go 6-7 innings in a good start but a bad one could mean getting pulled at any time. For how you pitch "in a way that makes sense," could you clarify what you're asking? And for the throwing/batting options, do you mean like the different methods that the game provides (pulse, meter, etc.), or when to use like an X/Square/Circle swing? I'll be happy to provide you with more insight on my preferences but ultimately it comes down to what you decide in the moment and that will come from experience. Let me know when you have a chance!
@@Data782 thank you for replying! About pitching, I believe pitchers do have some sort of strategy. I heard the commentators talking about "always thinking about the next pitch". I think there must be like a common way or some no-gos and I can hardly find any videos about that stuff, maybe you know where to look. I know the basics, if I hit three balls I should probably hit the zone but how do I for example leverage a 0-2? I just pitch kinda random and even though, I am hitting the timing pretty good (I don't have any questions about the meter/pulse mechanics, the game does a pretty good job explaining this) I always end up pitching a shitton compared to my oponent. When it comes to hitting I just go for a normal swing until i have two strikes then I do a contact swing. According to reddit power swing seems useless but I try it from time to time when I have loaded bases and a good hitter but that's all just my baseball noob intuition :) do you know where I can learn about these things? bc I don't really wanna waste your time here haha
It's my pleasure! I'll do my best to help. For pitchers, absolutely there is strategy. Depending on the count, what you just threw, the strike zone that the umpire is using, pitching 3-0 vs. 0-2, etc. Honestly, I can't say for certain if these real world considerations must necessarily be factored into your decisions in the virtual world bit, if you do (which is a fun addition), I think you'd need to look for videos from baseball sources and not "The Show" sources. For batting, I agree that power swinging is typically thought of as a swing you shouldn't do very often haha but with a power hitter in the right situation it could be! I usually X swing but will try for contact if I just really need to bring home a runner or find a gap to get on base (not necessarily push for the wall). So all that to say, you're asking great questions! But I think they're more baseball-oriented and could be found if you search for strategy explanations instead of "The Show"-type ones. Let me know if that helps and best of luck! :)
I've been playing MLB the show for years and still learned a few things from your video. So, thanks. I do wish you had mentioned that after the signing period ends for the draft picks you can view their actual potentials and overall ratings. I missed that on my first playthroughs.
You're absolutely right! When I'm saying so many things in a video like this, it's unfortunately bound to happen that I forget something that I regret when it's too late. I can assure you that it will be mentioned in next year's guide! ;) Thanks for the love!
Nice video bro, can i edit a uniforms that allready exits? I mean something like add city connect to the Yankees o add a new opción to play? Thanks for the video 👊
Hey thank you kindly! Yes, you can edit a uniform that already exists! As you can see at 1:32:37, during the offseason, you can go to "rebrand team" and make the changes that you desire. I'm not sure if you can make those exact changes, but you can explore that "rebrand" screen and see what's possible. Let me know if that helps and if I can add my input on anything else! :)
Hey man, awesome video! How do you manage fatigue within your lineup? I don’t know why my 2B and etc is getting tired when they have 14 games in 12 days idk what I’m doing lol!
Hey! Thank you kindly! :) I gotta say that I don't manage fatigue tooooo too much unless I'm simulating game-by-game. When doing so, like in the playoffs, you can see each player's energy level and make decisions about who's in and who's out. Otherwise, I just make sure to have good options at each position (or at least players who are eligible for multiple positions) on the bench and let the AI manager decide as the season simulates. Hope that helps! ;)
Is there a way to only play offense/batting, and to do that for human controlled team? That would be a nice way to do some batting practice without having to endure the monotonous custom practice.
Unless I'm missing something, I don't believe that there's a way to "lock" onto just offense/batting for your entire team. I think your best bet would be to "quick manage" the game and play all of the at-bats, then return to the quick sim every time you're pitching. Let me know if that helps or if I could clarify anything else!
@@Data782 that is a very good suggestion, thank you! I hope they add functionality for the idea I proposed, where you could automatically choose to play as any side you control in a save (potentially both teams in a game if you wanted to), and choose which aspects of the game you want to play yourself, and which aspects should be simmed.
There's no known limit! Maybe it caps at a certain point but I've seen people do 60+ seasons so I'd say there's not much to worry about haha unlike Franchise Mode on other games
So I’m playing mlb the show 24 and I want to play as the dodgers, and I can edit the lineup and whatnot, but all the other teams I cannot change. I don’t want to be responsible for those teams but for example, Kyle Tucker is batting leadoff for the Astros…. How can I change that???
You unfortunately cannot change anything about another team such as its lineup unless you add them as one of the teams you are in control of before beginning your Franchise Mode save file! The only workaround I can think of might be to take control of the Dodgers AND the Astros, but set everything to auto except for the lineups and then edit those yourself. The downside of that is that I don't think you can make some things auto and others manual for different teams - it'd be one setting across the mode. On top of that, if you set the lineups to manual, you'd be continually notified about injuries and how the lineup for the other teams must be fixed. All that to say, if you REALLY want to control only the lineup of another team, it's possible, but will present some other headaches that I don't think would make the endeavor worth your while. Hope that helps and feel free to leave any other questions!
If I’m playing some at-bats and pitching situations to help improve player stats and team success, does that have any impact on player development, overall, or trade value?
In short, it's possible! If you're going in often enough and having enough success that a player's stats are improving as a direct result of your intervention, then development and overall may improve in turn. For trade value, potential/contract/service time/etc. will also come into play so I don't believe that a player's performance has too much impact on that. However, if the player performs so well that the overall/potential increases, then that would have an influence on the bigger picture. I hope that helps and feel free to follow up with any more questions!
Hey there! Great question. I've never tried that before but, from what I understand and from the research that I've done in previous games, the budget of the original team will be transferred over to the new team regardless of the market. If you find that not to be the case in The Show 23, please let me know and I'll be sure to include that in next year's guide!
I don't know if you're still looking at comments here, but you finished the offseason with a pretty thin roster and a lot of slots to fill. How do you then fill it out before the start of the regular season?
@@ShawnSmith1031 I always do! For sure, at the end of any season your roster will be thin as many minor leaguers have to to be re-signed. To fill out your roster, you can re-sign as many as you like, find free agent replacements, or even use as many of your drafted prospects as possible who will now join your team. Let me know if that helps and feel free to follow up!
Love the vid! Is there any possible way that if you’re usering all teams you can do trades? I’ll try to do them and it’ll say I offered them but nothing else happens.
Hey Brody thanks for the love! If you're user controlling every team, you should still be able to do trades as usual! I just experimented with it right now and trades worked the same as always with the trade value system. Maybe play around with settings that are manual/auto? Let me know if you're running into any trouble but it should be able to function normally as if you were trading with AI teams!
@@Data782huh weird I must be doing something wrong. I just tried to do a trade between two teams and it keeps saying I send a trade proposal to that team. When I go to that team it’ll show that a trade proposal has been sent but it won’t let me accept or decline it. I have my trades on manual at the moment cause I’ve had it on automatic.
That's super odd.. I wish I could see more! If anything, maybe join the Discord server and you can share your screen with me/we can discuss further? discord.com/invite/rRDYpTx
I would like to know the factors that influence team reveneu's decisions. In order to avoid a deficit, we traded players to turn it into a surplus, but when the next season begins, the profit will change to a loss for the team.
It's a great question! I think it unfortunately has to do with the market that you're in more than anything because there's no "secret" to adding team revenue aside from adding sponsors and trying to meet those conditions as much as possible (for example, $2,500 per strikeout so maybe you get pitchers with a higher K/9 rating). I hope that helps a little bit and good luck!
Not news in the sense of "wow, this player hit three home runs last night!", but you can look at transactional news by clicking on the "manage" clipboard icon, going to "transactions," and pressing "completed." From here, you can look at trades, injuries, call-ups, etc. If you want news on players and teams, you'll have to scroll through the teams yourself to see what's up, OR even sometimes catch a little piece of news on the bottom scrolling ticker while in-game. Hope that helps! :)
Hey thank you kindly! I think the evidence on that is mostly anecdotal because a young player with potential WILL grow on the bench in the MLB, but, in my experience, giving them the opportunity to be a AAA star is the better course of action until you can guarantee them a decent amount of big league at-bats. I typically just try and keep it as realistic as possible and keep track of growth throughout the year!
@@Data782 i got that figured out but now in my 3rd year of the franchise in the off-season whenever i try to save it doesn’t save anything. like it says it saves the file but when i go back in it puts me back at the beginning of the offseason every time no matter how much progress i make. and when i go to load files it says there’s no saves filed but in saved files it shows them, i just can’t open them from there
I wish someone would do a video on creating sliders in Franchise mode that doesnt allow me to go 162-0. No matter what I do, the game is not competitive. They need to fix that.
I assume that you're playing? I get what you're saying, I hear that from experienced players. Maybe instead of trying to even the playing field you can put yourself at an active disadvantage through the sliders and try that? Not perfect but it'd be an idea!
30:01 When you say that some stats in training don't impact simulation (like control, velocity, break for pitchers), does this include CPU v. CPU watch mode? I don't take over and control players - I just watch the games play out. Would those stats impact the gameplay?
Great question! My statement DOES NOT include CPU v. CPU gameplay! Meaning, yes, those stats ARE important if you are watching games! The only time they don't matter as much (or at all) is when purely simulating. Hope that helps!
@@Data782 I just finished the entire video and want to thank you for all the information. I actually took notes and will refer to them during the offseason, lol. I do have one more question - If I have a stud prospect with no MLB experience (yet) and A potential, do I need to keep them on the 40-man roster to avoid losing them to Rule 5 draft? My understanding was that they were safe up to a point.
@@jeffthomas8998 Happy to help! :) You'll eventually need to keep them on the 40 man roster to avoid losing them to the Rule 5 draft, yes, but the WHEN will depend on each prospect. According to the MLB's rules, a player is eligible for the draft if they were 18 or younger on the June 5 preceding their signing and this is the fifth Rule 5 draft upcoming; OR, if they were 19 or older on the June 5 preceding their signing and this is the fourth Rule 5 draft upcoming. Honestly, I just don't worry about it too much and keep an eye on the main screen that warns me of my top eligible players are whenever the draft is coming up 😂 Hope that helps!
Correct! They'll be on your roster the next season. But even after signing them in the days after the draft, once the deadline to do so has passed, you should be able to go to "view draft picks" I believe it's called on your main screen and see their exact ratings there.
I’m fairly certain the part where you talk about “downloading from the cloud” means you can carry over from previous mlb the show games is inaccurate. They discontinued year-to-year saves a few iterations ago. Unless I misunderstood and you meant something else, I don’t think you could carry over an mlb the show 22 franchise and upload it to 23 and start where you left off.
I'm not sure if that's the case but now I'm curious! I just went back to The Show 22 and was able to upload my franchise to the cloud, but does that mean that it is now only saved in the cloud for 22 (for recovery purposes?) and cannot be transferred to 23? I believe the last time that I actually attempted to transfer a previous Franchise save was in 20 or 21 but, since the screens/options hadn't changed and uploading to the cloud was still available, I hadn't considered the possibility that you mentioned. I'll have to keep researching!
As for relocating a team (Im taking over the Dbacks and want to move them) is there an ability to do it at some point in the season/offseason or do you have to create everything before you start the franchise?
I believe it must be done before you start the franchise. Every offseason, you have the ability to "rebrand" your team, but I do not believe that relocation is a part of the available options for that. I've been sick all week and haven't been able to open the game to double check, but I'd say I'm 99% sure! I'll let you know if I find anything else
Does MLB The Show 23 have the option to begin franchise mode from today, like you can do in NBA 2K23, where you can begin your season at any point without simulating games.
One thing I'm looking forward for mlb the show 24 that will make or break my decision to buy the new 24 version...customization of team uniforms for franchise mode...if you try and customize uniforms the game will not play, it crashes...I won't buy the game at least for full price if they don't fix this bug
I do, but I don't believe that there are any that would make much of a difference just yet in terms of personnel! I usually wait until after the draft to download one
Re: improvement of young players, is thwre any sort of slider to their improvements where an A potential gets better faster by playing well in the mlb than he would in triple a, vs double a? Also even if you're training a relief or closing pitcher is it still pointless to use bullpen?
Hey there! In my experience, yes, the higher the potential = the higher the rate of improvement. However, that's not a guarantee as you'll still sometimes get A-potential prospects who stall or C-potential prospects who have a big spurt thanks to everything going right. In regard to which league is best for their development, I wouldn't say one or the other will increase that speed. Rather, playing them in the league in which they get the most playing time is what's best. For example, I may have, say, a catcher prospect who's good enough for AAA but I also have another prospect who's already my AAA starter. In most circumstances, I'd rather play one in AAA and one in AA so that they can both get 500-600+ ABs as opposed to splitting time. In regard to your last question, I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to. Training is always good for overall attribute development no matter the circumstances. Hope that helps and feel free to follow up!
@@Data782 the first part helps a lot! On the last part, there's a section in this video that references training for pitchers and you say you only train them on what improves h/9 bb/9 and all that which I usually do for starters. But for closers, or pitchers with really low control or breaking, do you still do the same with them ? Because I've had mine on training control/breaking but if it's pointless as you say I want to change it. Either way this video helped tremendously I come back to it daily and going into year 4 I finally feel like I'm up to speed on how to develop the entire roster. I only started focusing on scouting and minor league rosters in yr 3 but I love the depth they put in this year, for a sim head it really makes you get immersed in double and triple a rosters.
@@LonghornsLegend Ahh okay I get it now! I'd say it depends on what you're doing in your Franchise Mode. If you're ONLY simulating, then I wouldn't dedicate time to control/break/etc. when the /9 stats hold more importance. The only change I might make for the guy who is my dedicated closer would be working on his pitching clutch (PCLT) so that he will be at his best with runners on base. Glad to hear that the video has been helpful! :) Feel free to leave any more questions as they may arise and best of luck!
Hey thanks for the awesome video! I want to create a team for my franchise based in the UK, but i cant find the team GB players from DD anywhere in the rosters. Is this even possible?
Hey there! I'm glad that it was helpful for you! :) Being a Franchise guy who knows very little about DD, I checked in with a friend of mine who knows a lot more. He said: "Hmmm. I know the WBC teams are available in exhibition, but haven't tried to use any in franchise. I think part of the issue is a bunch of them are part of MLB organizations already. I'm guessing best option is either downloading a roster, or editing their own with the players." Let me know if that helps!
Sadly not! In theory you could trade for a handful of Yankees pitchers which would force them to eventually call Cole up, then you could try trading them back to New York for what you originally gave up since it's unlikely that they'd put Cole on waivers. OR, they could just have a full 40-man roster which would only require you to trade for one of their MLB players. Let me know what you try and how it works out!
The AI was messeing with my roster and it sent multiple players to Designated for Assignment, how do I fix that and get the AI to STOP doing this? I need these players lol
Hey there! I would assume that you have everything set to "manual" yet this is still happening? If so, my next assumption would be that it always happens after the end of Spring Training and the AI makes decisions without first asking you? If my assumptions above are correct, then I have a simple fix! To keep the AI from designating players for assignment, make sure that you manually fix your roster BEFORE ending spring training/starting the regular season. Your roster must be cut down to 26 players by a certain date and, if you don't do it yourself, then the AI will designate players for assignment to make everything work and this is where the problem arises. Let me know if that answers your question! If it's happening randomly at other times, you have some management settings set to "auto" and/or you are clicking "auto fix" when something like an injury comes up during simulation.
The record being given to the Giants and not Barry Bonds is most likely because he is very stingy with his likeness, they acknowledge McGwire and Sosa and it’s well known they used steroids as well.
Just in Franchise Mode? Yes! I only have three controllers so I couldn't experiment but I believe that the limit per team is 2 and the limit per game is 4. So, you could do a 1v1, 2v1, 2v2, or 2v0 in offline co-op on Franchise Mode, but not a 3v0, 3v1, or 4v0. Hope that helps!
I hear you! Your best bet is to make sure that the player's most important attributes are still being trained under "training" (28:58). Beyond that, you can make sure that you're giving them the role in your batting order/pitching rotation that they desire but, at a certain point, regression will overtake what you're able to do. Hope that helps!
It pretty much comes down to your personal philosophy! You may want to let your better players "work it out," while your more fringe players can ride the bench a little bit until they prove themselves a bit more in a platoon role. I usually don't worry toooo much about a cold streak unless it's over an extended period of time/the player is playing wayyyy below his abilities. Hard to give a "one size fits all" answer, but that's usually my thought process!
Hey there! This can be a confusing one so follow these steps carefully from the beginning of when a player is created: 1. Press "create" in the top right corner of the main screen. Press "roster control." 2. Press "create player" and do exactly that. 3. When done, press "Finish" (OPTIONS button on PS4), and select "free agent pool and export player." 4. Save your player file under any name. 5. Now that the player has been created and is saved, while still on the "create" page, go to "roster control." 6. Choose the team that you want the created player to go to and select "manage roster/import player." 7. If your created player is a pitcher, select any pitcher from that team. If the created player is a position player, select any position player. 8. Scroll down to and select "import pitcher" or "import position player." 9. Select the save file that you saved your created player as. That player is now on that team's roster. 10. To SAVE these changes, exit out and go to go to Settings (top right corner) --> File Management --> Save --> Roster (should have a checkmark next to it since changes have been made). And voila! That created player is now on that team and should be there when you start up a new franchise mode! Let me know if it all works out :)
I don't think any region is necessarily better than another! I sometimes favour international since that's theoretically casting a wider net, but most prospects will come from North America so that isn't always necessarily true. A good balance of regions is my approach!
Is there a way to import an established rtts two way player into the franchise? Or perhaps a way to create a 2 ways and just copy thr stats over. When I tried to create one, it refused to let a pitcher have a secondary position. My rtts player is a ss and a sp
Hey there! No way to import but you could indeed create an identical player, if you would like! I don't believe you can assign a pitcher a secondary position of SS or vice-versa, however, but you can still do what you want if you're the GM calling the shots! If it's the AI who's in charge, giving that player good hitting stats will allow them to DH, but I've never seen a two-way player play anywhere else. Granted, Ohtani is basically the only one in Franchise haha but that's my experience. Best of luck!
@@Data782 I got it to let me play in the field buttttt it plays way differnt that rtts... Like it just feels different. But then I also realized that it didn't have me as a two-way player because even though I put myself in the lineup it would automatically sub me out if I was in the field. So for my second season I'm going to make sure that it says that I'm a two-way player and then try again and see what it says
@@Data782 basically ehay I was sayin is that when I played, as soon as I was in field I'd be subbed out. The work around was to make sure I didn't have anothrr player capable of ss 😂😂
I believe the game does that to keep you from boosting player trade value and then flipping them to other teams! I'm not sure if/when that wears off, but you won't be able to trade them right away :(
Can anyone explain what I did wrong in my franchise? I got through free agency, set my 40 man roster, got through the rule 5 draft and then simmed to spring training and half my roster from MLB-A was gone. My depth chart showed my guys in future years but then they were gone once I got to spring training.
Hmm.. Only explanation I can think of would be that you possibly missed their re-sign phase? If you remember any of their names, look them up in the player search. Are they on other teams or are they in free agency?
@@Data782 I think that’s what happened. I combed through a bunch of playthroughs. I somehow completely skipped the tender contract phase and didn’t resign anybody.
Hey! It would depend on what you mean by "change." Like if you want to change which stadium you play in, you can do that every game that you play. If you want to change your team's home stadium, you can set that in "rebrand" during the offseason. If you want to edit the stadium itself and nothing else, that's an interesting one. Within Franchise Mode, I'm fairly certain that you can't. However, if you were to download a stadium from the community vault or make one yourself outside of Franchise Mode, you should be able to use it in an already-existing Franchise. I've never tried it myself, but I believe that hose would be the theoretical steps! Let me know if that helps!
Oh and you can also go to "stadium assignment" under the "league" tab! I discussed your comment with a few members in our Discord server and that's what I got. If you'd like to discuss further with some other Show players, feel free to join us! discord.com/invite/rRDYpTx
Mostly, yes! There are still things to tweak in FM that have unfortunately been needing some love for years now but, the good news is, the foundation is so strong that, even if it's mostly the same thing every year, it's a quality product
So in the rule 5 draft literally every player is available to be taken if they're not on your 40 man roster? So you only have 26 major leaguers and 14 minor leaguers guaranteed to keep? that doesn't sound right
Precisely! But if you select a player, they have to stay on your MLB squad for the entirety of the next season. So it's unlikely that a player who isn't top 26 in the MLB or top 14 in AA/AAA is worthy of being picked up and played in the majors unless you're picking from a deep team and you're desperate to fill spots.
@@akjdhajkdjhaghjkadh9804 Not necessarily! It depends on overall more than anything. An A-rated prospect who is still a 50 OVR won't get selected by another team with 99.999% certainty because there's no way that they would want to dedicate a full-time MLB roster spot to him. If a player has good potential and is, I'd say, 60-65+ OVR, then I'd protect them - along with my other full-time players. You could also use strategy and leave your older, more expensive players unprotected with the hope of them being taken off of your hands. There are a few different ways to play it!
whenever i played ranked my players all have a .000 batting average whenever i get hits i feel like they don’t go to my stats. how can i see my online stats for each player
Go to "create" in the top right corner of the game's main screen, press "roster control," then "create player." Once they have been created and added to your roster, save it and use it when starting your franchise mode!
my first year of franchise first off-season I can't resign my players jst the two older players with the exclusive negotiations....don't want go any further and have to get my guys back in fa HELP!!
Hey Geno! If you're at "exclusive free agent negotiations" and the player isn't there, you can go ahead and advance to "tender contracts." Let me know if that works for you!
@Data782 that's the issue tender contracts isn't an option for sme reason?? only have calendar>exclusive>review staff>rebrand team>sim to free agency....and I can't figure out how to offer contracts also says 6 days to free agency
@@gio1985s Perfectly normal! "Tender contracts" won't be available until the start of free agency. From there, you have until December 2nd to sign your players before they themselves become free agents!
Why every time I try to say a free agent it says I can’t afford it and I have no way of buying money like I could on l mlb 19 the show how can I just buy free agents ? Even if don’t have funds?
Negative, you cannot "buy" free agents without funds. If your budget is too low so that a player is unaffordable, you'll have to free up money/get more through sponsorships before you'll be able to take that player on. Hope that helps!
When exactly are you losing them? If you're 100% sure that you've signed them (make sure that they accepted your offers), could it be that you haven't added them to your 40-man roster and they're being taken by other teams during the rule 5 draft?
Hey! I unfortunately wasn't able to show that in this video as I'm on PS4 and stadium creator is only on PS5 & Xbox Series X! :( If you're on one of those two consoles, go to "create" in the top right corner when at the main screen for The Show and you're off to the races from there! Let me know if that helps and I'll be sure to showcase more in my MLB The Show 24 guide once that comes out now that I'm on the PS5 :)

@@simplyaguzman615OHHHH, wow, my bad - I was looking at how Escobar is also listed at SS and totally misunderstood 😭😂 That's a great question - I've honestly never noticed that! My understanding after a little bit of research in my current Pirates FM would be that that line means that those linked players are currently both playing that position in your present day lineup. For example, Guillermo may be playing 3B against lefties and Escobar may be playing 3B against righties. Neither is your every day. That's what I take from it! Thanks for baring with me 😂
Not a fan of the changes to scouting and draft. Also not being able to turn off injuries sucks. I like managing my own lineups, and these injuries seem to happen every other game. I'm a simming guy, but when an injury happens, I don't trust the CPU to manage the lineups and rotations the way I want.
I agree with you that I prefer to manage my own lineups and don't trust the CPU! You can go to your sliders and turn injury frequency down to account for that! :)
Just messing. It was a really good video and I appreciate the content. I just got a chuckle out of the whether you be..as opposed to whether you are …just me being a grammar nazi. The content of the video is what’s important. I learned a few things that I was stuck on..pal 😀
I see what you're saying in terms of "it used to involve less of my time" before, but I gotta admit, this system is a huuuuge upgrade. Even if you just set it to auto, it's a huge leap forward from how it used to be! Perhaps all it'll require is a little getting used to :)

Thanks Brandon! And yes, you're absolutely right! That would be a very useful addition
Great vid, I never knew abt the 80% resign trick. You picked my team too. After 2 years Verlander and Max contract comes off the books they have alot of free money.
Glad to have taught you that trick! ;) And yes you're absolutely right, there's much more breathing room after Verlander and Max expire 😂
Thanks for the vid, believe it or not I watched this video in a year where I led the Mets to bottom of the division and the next year I won the WS in 7.

Tip: create your ideal roster before heading into franchise mode. Thats the only time to add created players to your team.
Well said 👍
Can you put whoever you want on a custom team or is it limited to certain players or only so many good ones?
@@jasonjenkins8910 Whoever you want!
Hi, great video. I have much better understanding now.
However, have you noticed that if you sim games (through date) CPU then don't use your lineups / batting order. Do you just don't care about that or you have a workaround?
Hi there! Glad to hear that the video was helpful for you! :)
I'm not sure if I'm fully understanding your question.
It must be! If not, I'm stumped 😵💫
Just waiting for the MLB the Show 24 one, to see if they finally add a way to shorten the season, good job again man!
When selecting a 40 man roster in offseason should you put players you drafted in it and if you dont when should you
You should only add a drafted player to your 40-man roster when you're ready to play them in the MLB, OR if they've been in your organization for 4-5 years (depends on how old they were when drafted) and you want to keep them from being eligible to be claimed in the Rule 5 draft - whichever comes first. Let me know if that helps!
You can only edit jerseys in between seasons. So take your time and get it right, or wait till after the postseason.
Correct!
Excellent video! How do you get the most updated rosters in fanchise mode after the trade deadline?
Thank you kindly! :) It is my understanding that, to get the most updated rosters, all you need to do is start the game with an online connection! The game will automatically download the newest versions when they become available on a biweekly basis. If you want to double check this..
1. Open up MLB The Show 23 and go to main menu.
2. Go to the "Settings" in the top right corner.
3. Select the "File Management" and then "Load."
4. Select "Rosters" and then "Live Roster."
And you're good to go!
If there's something missing/an update is taking too long, you can always download a custom one from the roster vault (2:32). Hope that helps! :)
Great. Thank you very much.
Happy to help!
According to reddit power swing seems useless but I try it from time to time when I have loaded bases and a good hitter but that's all just my baseball noob intuition :)
do you know where I can learn about these things? bc I don't really wanna waste your time here haha

Maybe this is mentioned in the vid and I missed it, but how long does the mode go? 50 seasons?
Thanks! That helps!
Dig the change for the opening audio. Looking forward to the rest
Glad that you think so! ;)
great video.
Thank you very much! I hope that it was helpful for you :)
Does the budget increase if you move a small market team into a larger market???
Merci Jean-Felix!! Appreciate it! :)
Is there a way to see the news around the league like a tab or something?
Not news in the sense of "wow, this player hit three home runs last night!", but you can look at transactional news by clicking on the "manage" clipboard icon, going to "transactions," and pressing "completed." From here, you can look at trades, injuries, call-ups, etc. If you want news on players and teams, you'll have to scroll through the teams yourself to see what's up, OR even sometimes catch a little piece of news on the bottom scrolling ticker while in-game. Hope that helps! :)
@@Data782 oh thank you!
hey man great video. do players develop the same if they were starting in AAA vs being on the bench in the MLB?
Hey thank you kindly! I think the evidence on that is mostly anecdotal because a young player with potential WILL grow on the bench in the MLB, but, in my experience, giving them the opportunity to be a AAA star is the better course of action until you can guarantee them a decent amount of big league at-bats. I typically just try and keep it as realistic as possible and keep track of growth throughout the year!

Great question! My statement DOES NOT include CPU v. CPU gameplay! Meaning, yes, those stats ARE important if you are watching games! The only time they don't matter as much (or at all) is when purely simulating. Hope that helps!

Q: when do we get to see the draft picks / real ratings. i've signed them and they're not on the roster. is it next season?
I’m either wrong, or a lot of people got very upset about SDS taking out y2y saves for no reason lol.
Unfortunately not! :(

if you play a player out of position enough during a season will he earn that as a secondary position?
As far as I know, no, he will not!

Any ideal how to get cpu to call up players i have gerrit cole on the cpu yankees still stuck in triple a
Is it a multi player franchise? Or solo dolo?

Can you play offline coop on the same team ? If so how many players on the same team ?
Just in Franchise Mode? Yes! I only have three controllers so I couldn't experiment but I believe that the limit per team is 2 and the limit per game is 4. So, you could do a 1v1, 2v1, 2v2, or 2v0 in offline co-op on Franchise Mode, but not a 3v0, 3v1, or 4v0. Hope that helps!
Is there a way to not have players regress super early as it is very unrealistic is some cases
I hear you! Your best bet is to make sure that the player's most important attributes are still being trained under "training" (28:58). Beyond that, you can make sure that you're giving them the role in your batting order/pitching rotation that they desire but, at a certain point, regression will overtake what you're able to do. Hope that helps!

Can someone explain to me how the cold streaks work in franchise? Do i sit the player for awhile? Or keep them in my lineup and keep swinging?
It pretty much comes down to your personal philosophy! You may want to let your better players "work it out," while your more fringe players can ride the bench a little bit until they prove themselves a bit more in a platoon role. I usually don't worry toooo much about a cold streak unless it's over an extended period of time/the player is playing wayyyy below his abilities. How do you choose which league a free agent goes too?
Hey there! This can be a confusing one so follow these steps carefully from the beginning of when a player is created:
1. Press "create" in the top right corner of the main screen. Press "roster control."
2. Press "create player" and do exactly that.
3. When done, press "Finish" (OPTIONS button on PS4), and select "free agent pool and export player."
4. Save your player file under any name.
5. Now that the player has been created and is saved, while still on the "create" page, go to "roster control."
6. Choose the team that you want the created player to go to and select "manage roster/import player."
7. If your created player is a pitcher, select any pitcher from that team. If the created player is a position player, select any position player.
8. Scroll down to and select "import pitcher" or "import position player."
Let me know if it all works out :)
also, how do you know which region to scout and which is best?
I don't think any region is necessarily better than another! I sometimes favour international since that's theoretically casting a wider net, but most prospects will come from North America so that isn't always necessarily true. A good balance of regions is my approach!

Hey there! No way to import but you could indeed create an identical player, if you would like! I don't believe you can assign a pitcher a secondary position of SS or vice-versa, however, but you can still do what you want if you're the GM calling the shots! is there a way i can change a teams stadium without changing anything else
For the most part
@@Data782 so the prospects i choose to be on my 40 man roster should be the most mlb-ready ones? not the ones with the brightest future
@@akjdhajkdjhaghjkadh9804 Not necessarily! It depends on overall more than anything.
