The doll with the green dress is like one mum mum got made for me. We found her head in our wood shed when we were first married, my poor brother in law, who was only 15 thought it was a dead baby! Her head was made in Germany in late 1800’s. How she survived in the wood shed is amazing. I don’t know why I felt the need to tell you this but there you go! Love the journals that you make. And love your chatter with Lulu, gorgeous girl.

I am loving how this looks & the idea -I have wanted to honor the things I have from my grandmothers -a few recipes, laces & seal binding -a few handwritten letters -lots of pictures-I found a book called The grandmothers -I’m so gonna use this book-& make into my own journal to hold my treasures! this is so lovely! Oh it's really hot here in Las Vegas Nevada. Today 109° this weekend 115°. I love Las Vegas, I just dislike the Summer's here. Way too hot, it's so hot most people run errands at night. We're in Monsoon Session right now. However we haven't gotten any flooding, thunder or lightening, or heavy rain yet. But when we do, the humidity is just awful. So with the heat and humidity, there's no way to enjoy yourself outside. It's unbearable, you'd think after living here for 25yrs I'd be used to it, by now. But nope, I don't think you ever get used to it, you just learn to exist. Lol stay cool

Comment strictly on glue -- Fabrictack and PVA are the exact same glue, but the fabritac has acetone added to it. I don't know why. For just regular gluing, I stick to the Ailene's Tacky glue, which is pva with less water content -- it has never failed me. I use it on both fabrics and papers -- and before Covid, it was $1.27 free shipping from Amazon. Now, the same seller has jacked the price up to $5.97 -- good thing I saw this coming and bought a lot !! Also, this has never once failed me -- if I want to, for example, glue a large piece of fabric to paper of varying weight -- like card stock -- I put down a layer of modpodge -- you could use your pva with water -- and let it dry completely -- then -- you put down the fabric and put baking paper, parchment paper, NOT WAXED, under the paper (because the glue can bleed through to your ironing surface) and a piece over the project between the fabric and the iron -- hit it with a hot hot iron, and voile' !! Instant adhesion. Now, if you missed some of the corners, you might have to give them a little glue -- but it causes a chemical reaction and "bakes" the modpodge (or pva) to the paper and the fabric -- if you are decopauging say, a napkin to a painted ceramic tile, to get it to bond, you heat your oven to 200 F, then turn it off and let it sit in the oven for about 15 mins. It bakes it into the pourous areas -- you also can use a hair dryer on the highest heat setting, say, if you were decoupaing a napkin or paper to a tag -- what I do is iron them after all the glue has dried -- or if it's a large area, I use the apply, let it dry, and iron it on method. I've done it for more than 10 years and never failed me once -- sorry this is long -- also, you've got that fabulous giotto liquid glue -- it's so thick

Roxy Creations - Hi Rachel - sorry re the back - sorry to say I getint because inpraten have a back ache from the kind I do mostly hand work including writing and typing and sitting (more butt work but yeah). Yes I wrote you on Etsy for a quote on a pack of your choice of your great old papers and junk journal stuff. Told you I am now in Amsterdam with a safe address re customs and things disappearing on route. When you can. I’m in 2 week quarantine now because we came from an “orange/red” country. I like it!!!! I have to say (again) I love to watch you work and often take my cues from you. Get better, stay safe and OMG all the tourists are back and in the Netherlands they don’t behave well and they are going to wreck the openness we found when we landed. Bad scene. Very, very pretty, Rachel 💜 A little tip that might help - when I want to keep items from sticking to a page underneath, I use a small piece of acetate or even wax paper to separate them til the glue dries. I always have some on my desk I can grab. What a lovely project to showcase your special bits & pieces 😍 Nice nail polish, Lulu❣️

I wonder if it would be easier to sew the laces to the pages, if the pages aren't stitched in yet?? So you can pull each page out, to work on?

Last night I dreamed that I cut up the antique crocheted tablecloth belonging to my mother-in-law. She would "roll over in her grave" if I did, but I keep thinking about how you say we should use things and not let them sit in a drawer. That tablecloth has been in a drawer for years. Beautiful Roxy! I’m really enjoying seeing you do this journal and watching it come together. I’ve decided to try something similar, except my book pages and lace won’t be so old, but I will make them look vintage with distress inks and tea.
