Thanks for the comment. Sometimes i wish it was manual but more often than not I'm glad it's an auto. :D Somehow I missed the notification on your comment so my apologies for the very late response.
I love that bike. I test rode the manual and auto, preferred the manual cause for that exact point you made about controlling the friction point in turns. I have often said to my friends when the day comes that I can't ride the sport bikes anymore the DN 01 is definitely in the running along with the honda fury and yamaha raider
Nice review, very useful. My FJR AE has a bit of similarity, what with the computer controlled clutch and paddle shifter. Certainly like your bike, the FJR AE needs special attention in low speed parking lot maneuvers.
Chad Bolling Hi Chad, I posted an update to this vid. Not really a full review but my thoughts on the bike after 6 years now... th-cam.com/video/kKXE8qPA4BM/w-d-xo.html
I wonder, three years on now, have you opinions of the bike changed? Do you regret buying the bike? I've always wanted one of these, but the high price tag has always been a sticking point for me. Personally, I don't care what others think about the auto transmission, I like the styling of the bike, and I want something low and cruiser like. I'm too old for a crotch rocket, but that doesn't mean I don't want a cool looking bike.
Hi Gary, There are a few things about the DN01 that irk me, like the lack of wind protection and the OEM windscreen being too low to see the gauges. That is somewhat remedied by aftermarket screens. For me, not a great bike for touring. However, for around town or short runs (50-100 miles) it is is great. Overall I still love the DN01. It is a fun ride and I don't regret buying it at all. I do wish the dealer knew how to work on it though. When I take it in they look at it and ask where I got it... I tell them "from you"! I've even noticed they fail to change both oil filters when they work on it. They don't seem to know it has 2 (one internal for the tranny and one external for the engine). It's not perfect but again I don't regret the purchase. It is unique and fun.
Thank you, sir. I know there's one down in California with less than 200 miles on it for about $9K. It's a dealer, so he's probably had it since new. I'm between jobs at the moment, so after getting settled in with a new job, I may take a look at getting one.

RC, thank you very much for the review. Unfortunately, or, maybe, fortunately, I've just lost my job, but when I get a new one, I should new making more money than I was taking home before. I liked the styling on the DN-01, versus the CTX-700 DCT, and I can't see spending all the money on the NM4, I don't need the"Bat Bike". :) Their is a new DN01 for sale in Illinois, so maybe, if things go well, and I'm Anne to get back into the workforce quickly, it'll be mine, I mean, if has been sitting the for five years, another month or so, it'll probably be there.
I think the bike looks great the only thing that would not appeal to me is the auto transmission just because I feel I am driving the bike with the manual change but I thought the bike was cool.
lol rather you than me RC i will stick with my clutch and im happy with that. Looks unique i got to say, not getting me exited but like you say it wont appeal to all but you like it my friend and that's what matters Wow on the price too...

The front looks awesome, and I'm loving the rear alloy/rim :D Do you prefer manuals to auto's?

Sorry, I sold my DN01 5 years ago.
Thanks. I really like the bike.
Sorry not to reply earlier but I somehow missed the notification and only just saw your post.
congratulations on the new bike I hope it works out for you. It looks cool good luck with it.

How about an update on the bike after 5 years or ownership? Low mileage used ones are pretty cheap now. I might replace my Versys with one.
Chad Bolling I'll see what I can do. No promises. I've not been posting much recently due to personal matters.

You like it , and you paid for it with your money...and that's what matters !!! Your choice.
Thanks. Suits me pretty good but yeah it definitely is not going to be right for most people. :D
Nice vid. Not really my cup o tea but that thing is cool! Enjoy!
