I drove both the nm4 and the dn-01... I bought the dn-01. It's an amazing commuter. It does benefit from the givi windshield. I'm currently vacationing in Greece, I saw one here with 86k km on it so you know it's got longevity.
Completely agree! Just picked up an '09 with 9000 miles; couldn't be happier with the purchase. Fast, stable, easy to ride, automatic, and absolutely head-turning and beautiful. The Honda dealer parts guy ran out to see it when I brought it in for new keys - he had never seen one! If you have the rare chance to pick one of these up, do yourself a favor and just throw the money at them.
Dam it, I love unusual bikes. Now you got me looking for one over here. Another great video us usual Marshall, thank you. NB, my bat bike come out of hospital mid March, can't wait.
HELLO MARSHALL, IV'E BEEN RIDING A DN01 FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! I CAN RIDE ALL DAY IN TOTAL COMFORT!! FEET STRETCHED OUT, PERFECT RIDING POSITION!! I DO HAVE AN AFTER MARKET SWEPT BACK WINDSHIELD AND A TRUNK, LOVE THE FACT THAT I DONT HAVE TO SHIFT, I GET A LOT OF COMNENTS WHEN IM OUT AND ABOUT, MOSTLY IT'S, WHAT IS THAT????? IN TEN YEARS IV'E NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ONE ON THE ROAD!!! I'D LIKE TO GET A SECOND ONE!!! LOVE THE CHANNEL!!! STAY UPRIGHT!!!!!
THANK you for enjoying my channel, Mitchell! We bought that DN, it's in my garage now. I was showing it off last night! The givi windshield is on order.
I need this bike! I take the basic motorcycle safety course in two weeks and will hopefully get my motorcycle license soon after. And, the DN-01 is my list of bikes to buy. I don’t think I will have any trouble with shifting on a motorcycle but wanted a bike that was comfortable enough and easy enough for an 80 mile round trip commute and I think DCT would fit the bill.
A DCT will certainly take a lot of potential mistakes out of the equation. Finding a DN-01 will be a needle in a haystack affair. A Rebel 1100 DCT might be easier to find, but both bikes need a real windshield to go anywhere far. I just put on the only one available on our DN01, and it was a snot! I had to remove half the tupperware on the front. The next thing I want to do is check the coolant level, as it is running hot. Guess what? I have to remove all the rear Tupperware to get to the overflow fill! Maybe tomorrow night after work.
I´ve got one in my garage, only had time to go for three or four short rides before winter struck so now I´m just waiting for spring to realy start here in sweden so I can do longer rides. Only 7 of these bikes running on swedish roads. Only sold during 2009 in Sweden. Thx for the honest review!
Hello to you in Sweden! We might be buying this one for my wife. With what is probably the world's best motorcycle transmission, it's too hard to pass up. We will put a Givi windshield and bags on it though, and eventually a seat with some back support.
I thought about keeping the NM4, but it wasn't fast enough on the Interstate. They made them with 750s in Europe, which would have been just right. I have a sappy review of it if you look. I still have the DN01, I'll do another video soon.
Nice video Marshall. It looks like a fun bike to ride. Are the mirrors positioned correctly? They are just placed in a different position than I am used to seeing. How big is the tank? This bike and video make me wonder what other sleeper models are out there... Ride Safe ✌️
Well, we took it home yesterday. It's in the garage now, so you'll see more of it as my wife rides. The mirrors are just right, probably because they are huge, almost as big as my Goldwing mirrors. The tank is 4 gallons, and it has a fuel gauge!! I'm always happy to see that. At 45mpg, (considerably lower than the DCT 700s at 55+) I'm guessing the light will go on at 140 miles. That's okay, because the Fury or my V-rod won't make it that far anyway. I'll carry a couple small fuel bottles. Honda sleepers to look at: of course, the NM4, but also look at the CTX700. That was an incredibly nimble bike, but the tire patch was so small, the wind blew it all over, even two up. Check out the CTX1300. Cool looking machine, but the rear tire was almost as wide as a Breakout, and steering it through even easy curves was a chore.
I own the DN-01. It gets a lot of people asking me about it. They think it's a "new" bike. By the way, it has 61 horsepower, not 45, which isn't huge but a noticeable difference.
У меня такой мотоцикл уже год! Полностью готовый на дальние поездки , высокое стекло, кофты , противотуманные фары , линзы оптика , защита рук с габаритными огнями! Это лучше видеть в живую чем описывать! Привет с Украины!)
You have no idea how jealous i am 😂 nm4 is my dream bike and i am just discovering this one and falling in love. The vultus are just soo unique ❤
I have a video on the NM4. We will be selling the DN-01 soon. My wife doesn't ride it, I usually ride my adventure bikes now.

What accessories did you buy? I’m interested in purchasing some.
@@omnimesh4096 Standby. We ordered the ugly Givi windshield, but nothing else yet. She needs a tail bag to strap to the rear seat.
@@ridingwithmarshall I was wondering what windshield and trunk Marshall Schaff purchased. Let me know how yours works out. Thank you.
@@omnimesh4096 I am using the givi swept back after market windshield, works vary well
Its a beautiful bike.. It's looks and sounds exactly like a stretched out Honda Pacific Coast . I miss that bike, It was quiet, smooth and classy.
It is a 45kw 61hp
I have had one since 2014 ...I loved it then and I love it even more today in 2024...Great bike..

Great review 👍
Great video I'm getting one 2011 trike version can't wait great video from council kev uk
I first saw one of these as a Trike , and they look great as a 3 seater.😍
Great review, subscribed!
Thank you!
Nm 4, and this dn 01 are great looking bikes, shame they didn't sell well.

Thanks for your vidéo. I love this bike and I am planning to buy one. Did you changed the front lights for white leds ?
The previous owner changed them, but not to the right ones I think. You have to have the brights on to have both lights on.

There's engine HP and there's Rear-wheel HP. A shaft drive absorbs quite a bit.

На Украине есть в продаже несколько штук DN 01 в хорошем состоянии. У нас сейчас тяжело , многие продают с коллекции с пробегом до 10000 км
That was a very pretty girl at 6:45 i agree !
I don't like its look, but I have test-ridden it and also was amazed.
Honda should make a new Pacific Coast with that transmission...
Awesome review! Short & sweet . + 1 New Subscriber! :-)
Thank you!!!
I have NM4 and would like to trade it for that one...
The DN01 has no storage though. It does feel faster.
Is this still available?
It was until two weeks ago, when I caved and bought it! You can find some on Cycletrader.com
Preddesser to Honda NM4
Yep! I had that one too! There's a video on it.
I worked in a dealer the time they came out we called it the "Did Not Order One"
ONORE DIKEIDO!!
i guess the only one thing that might be missing from this strange beauty is a cruise-control
True!! The windshield isn't very effective either, and some luggage would be nice. I say that about SO many bikes though.
The bike is for sale, so you couldn't get a more unbiased review 😂
I bought it. It's mine now.
CVT transmission, YUK.
Hydromatic, not CVT. No belts inside.
It's hideous.
