It takes so long to bury those thoughts and let the wounds heal, when you revisit them again and it brings tears to your eyes that makes them fresh once more. It's a blessing he has family and friends to speak with that really understand because without that element, things get dark.

No one is talking about how Shannon HANDLED this emotional moment for Ric. He didnt try to be as sympathetic as possible. He doesnt say "im sorry for your loss" and doesnt lower himself to try to be there for Ric. What he does is he continues to ask him questions. He keeps interviewing him trying to get his thoughts. And after the fact, they shift to Rics grandkid and they manage to laugh about it.
See a lot of times, speaking on someones level and letting them maintain that dignity it better than lowering yourself for them. Shannon handled this very well. Shannon respected Rics feelings enough to not feel the need to cater to them so much. Ric probably would have regretted being vulnerable here if Shannon didnt ignore that vulnerability.

I’m the biggest Ric Flair fan you’ll ever meet. I’ve heard him tell the story probably five times and it never gets any easier to listen to. It’s especially tragic because it’s a classic addict story where dad knows that all the family love and rehab in the world couldn’t save his son, but he’ll forever wonder what he could’ve done differently especially on that fateful day. If you’ve never met someone who’s gone through this exact situation, consider yourself lucky.

I’m very impressed with Unc’s ability to ask these questions and get real emotions out of his guests.

I know, there was nothing more he could do. He was there for his son as much as he could be. Sad situation though.

Man this 10 min clip got you right in the heart !! As much as Ric Flair was a character that became who was as a person. You can see through the character and inside the heart of the human being. The idea of a parent losing its child really is gut wrenching and I commend Ric for baring it all. Excellent interview.
