Shawn Michaels had 2 hall of fame careers. Pre back injury Shawn was impressive. The irony is that when he came back he could not perform physically as he would in his prime, but he had greater matches, every year he stole the show, the man was a wrestling machine. God bless him.
What couldn’t he do in 02-08 that he could do in 93-98?? I never really noticed a difference
@@L4-295oof Madonna?
Agreed. He couldn’t do as many athletic, acrobatic moves, but storytelling took a real step up. It was TV gold

Shawn's look and personality in his second run were a massive downgrade. As toxic as he may have been backstage, 95-97 HBK was the best version of him overall.
Everyone says wrestling is fake and whats the point. Look at the joy Shannon has on his face just interviewing Flair. This is why we watched wrestling back in the day. It was absolutely a joy to watch with the memories we had with our families all watching together those iconic PPV events on Sunday evenings. The stories wrestlers have are some of the greatest stories ever told.

Wrestling not fake buddy 😂😂😂😂😂😂 it's scripted when flair goes through a FKN TABLE HES GPING THROUGH THE FLN TABLE 😂😂😂😂😂 how tf is that fake???
@ObviouslyKieran yes it does. You're just slow.
Love it when guys were real fans when they were young. You can tell that Shannon used to watch it as a kid. His eyes light up when he talks about the older wrestlers.
Shannon is from the south where territory wrestling was what they watched. NY & LA had Hogan. The south had Ric Flair & Dusty.

Undertaker is the mountain and everyone else is just filling up space. He took the corniest gimmick that Vince could think of and turned it into the greatest character of all time. He commanded being his own main event at the biggest wrestling event in the world for decades. Undertaker is untouchable.
💜
I mean, he could've been Singing in the Shower Man Lol
You say corniest, but when you compare all the other possible ideas that were coming up with, Mark LOVED Undertaker. You say corny, I say inspired. Absolutely none of these personas would work if the person inside of them wasn't owning them entirely. Hot Rod, Macho Man, Hulk, Stone Cold, Dusty. None of them work without that man taking it by the horns and riding it all the way home.
Overall he is the goat. Shawn was the best in ring ever flair on the mic thou.
Except that Undertaker never even was a draw before he became a nostalgia act around 2005.
And drawing power is the only thing that matters when evaluating a worker.
Macho Man Randy Savage doesn't get enough respect

Flair's old school. He values technical mat skills and work ethics over bravado and showmanship, which is kind of ironic.
Which is interesting since Flair built his career on showmanship and bravado and had very little athleticism or technical ability in the ring
I think it’s cuz he respects technical May skills and work Ethics because it wasn’t he made his career but what he would’ve liked it
Flair definitely had ring and Matt skills in his earlier days
@@MrKcprimes yeah Richard Flierhr had in ring ability, mat skills and good chemistry with other talent that is until he became Ric Flair Nature Boy
Hulk Hogan ??
Shannon is so good at these conversations. Didnt realize he knew wrestling like that, or he did some serious research ahead of the show. Either way, respect.
People think Austin started the Attitude Era but Shawn Michael’s actually started the transition. Bret was the ending of an era and Shawn was the beginning of the new.
Dude don't.. I've said this before and gone into detail about it but there's still retards that will argue with you despite the facts. Shawn started the attitude era, Austin ran with it

As a professional wrestler myself, I’ve gotta say, I’m super impressed with Shannon Sharpe‘s wrestling Alex! When he just starts reeling off some of Ric Flair‘s opponents, he doesn’t name the obvious ones that most people would when Rick does these interviews (like Hulk Hogan, macho man, Dusty Rhodes, etc.) for him being able to pull out, Baron von Raschke, Bobo Brazil, Mr. wrestling #1 & #2, I was thoroughly impressed! You could tell he’s much more than just a casual wrestling fan. Very cool stuff! Great interview!

Promos of shawn after the comeback was just on different stratosphere, like for example as small and short his rivalry with jericho was which most of us forgot, that storyline was just different level, even that was the best highlight on other wrestlers career, but to shawn that was just a small piece, thats how good he is (and jericho of course). But to perform swiftly during that 04-09 run was just phenomenal and being not the same athlete before injury, you wont notice it yes, but if you watch closely its just different compared to the 90s shawn, BUT, he is still better than most even on those time. Flair just stated facts, as much as i love hogan and taker all time, Shawn for me is the GOAT.
Wrestling is a rare sport that generally speaking a wrestlers prime tends to be in their late 30s and early 40s and not necessarily in their physical prime of their late 20s and early 30s.
Never thought I'd see Shannon Sharpe interview Ric Flair and talk about wrestling

The heat Unc is getting from others is because he is on 🔥 with the podcast, appearances and the interviews
Those undertaker Shawn Michaels WrestleMania matches are truly special
A rare incident where we had a top tier story and a top tier matches

Shawn isn't great he almost bankrupted the WWE more than once.
It’s difficult for me to separate wrestler Shawn from Shawn as a person at that time, because he was such an enormous POS for so long. But many of my favorite matches involve either The Hitman or Shawn. Their Iron Man match being an obvious culmination.
@@thestarseeker8196but think about it in context. If Shawn wasn’t who he was, he never would’ve made it to the heights he did. His second stint he already had made it so he could take it back several notches.

Now he said Shawn is the greatest because of in ring work, but yet he included Hogan on that same list? SMH 🤔
Hogan is the Babe Ruth of wrestling even if he isn't known for being a great in ring performer.
Hogan broke a barrier in wrestling, the age gap barrier, when hulkmania was on it was the pioneer of bringing all ages together for wrestling, that's why Flair puts Hogan in Rushmore
Yes he said one guy made the list for this and another for that. Makes sense...smh
Hogan is the greatest icon of wrestling of all time
They each made the list for different reasons

This was a great interview
Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way
Rick makes me wanna see some old Harley Race matches.
I think you can't compare many wrestler because they belongs to different eras (with a different target of people) and during the same eras they have different roles. A lot of wrestlers dislike Ultimate Warrior for example (and probably for good reasons) BUT if u were a child at the time u couldn't help but be fascinated by him, even if he basically had 3 moves, his character was jaw dropping for a little kid. And he changed the game. So knowing that wrestling is a show, it's really tough to pick the right criteria (or to establish which one should prevail) to judge every single wrestler.
Well said. Sustained popularity, how ever that is achieved at the time, will carry more weight than any one person's set criteria on how to judge an entertainer.
Technical skills have never meant more than the ability to control an audience's emotions.
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE AGREES WITH ME SHAWN IS THE GOAT!!!
He is and my favorite wrestler
Many agree with that.
What do you mean, "finally someone else agrees with me"? The vast majority of wrestlers and a large portion of the fanbase say that it is either Shawn or Bret. Let's not pretend that Shawn isn't getting the recognition that he deserves.
