Fits well into my space, I painted the back green. It's very easy to customize just the back if that's something you want to do. I would suggest sanding it first before painting, I got a little impatient. The shelves th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM8H4CjCb79vzeyvgaFMdzmLm88oVFPMkare pretty small so keep that in mind if you're going to have it horizontal that some books won't fit. I like the snug look that it has. Good small shelf if you don't have much space, but not too small. Simple to put together, though you'll need your own tools, a screwdriver and a mallet/hammer, it's easiest to do with another person.
Great transformation, I will definitely be doing this in my new house. Can’t beat those ikea bookcases for the price, I could buy the material for that cost let alone your time. You’ve made them look great for minimal expense. Thanks for sharing
Wish you were in NM. I’d have you do mine! I wanted to get some Billy’s since they’re 79” tall, but had to settle for Target 71” since Ikea is a 5 hours drive away. It’s not the dream library wall, but it will do. Not sure I could finish them off as nicely as these you did!
Hello - so no glue used with nailing the face frame to the front of the books cases? I am getting ready to do this and thought I would need to dado the back and apply with glue. Good to know the nails don’t go crazy after being shot in. What length nails did you use? I like that top cap trick you did. Nice work.
I think if you screw the units together well the nails are really just fighting gravity. The units I worked on several years ago are still looking good.
my problem is i cant get these things delivered to me. and i live in the middle of Oklahoma city so its not like i am out in the boondocks. i dont understand why i cant get these delivered here.
@@LewisRenovation indeed, I have four kalax cubes about to be fixed to the wall and covered to match my walnut desk. Frightened at the angled cuts for the top skirting. Hadn’t thought of biscuiting but that makes sense. Need some new tools!

Very nice. Are the shelves also affixed to the wall?
Yes, I screwed the shelves to the wall above the top shelf

Wow! I was looking for a DIY I could do to transform these but I can’t do this! You made these look built in
I'm bet you could make it happen! Go for it!
Excellent job. Thanks for sharing
Your welcome! Are you going to start a similar project?
Nice! Wish you could do that for the billy bookcases we just bought!
Thanks for the nice comment!
Easy to setup. A little difficult to get used to using.
Right on
What is the depth of the timber? I am from the uk and love what you’ve done
The face frame wood is 19mm thick. Hopefully that answers your question. Thanks for the comment
The hacked out light switches inside the book case is jank AF.
Good thing that was the customers work and not mine
my problem is i cant get these things delivered to me. and i live in the middle of Oklahoma city so its not like i am out in the boondocks. i dont understand why i cant get these delivered here.
This is amazing workmanship. Looks awesome: 👏
Thank you fire the nice comment!
May I ask how much you charged for this and where you are based?
Probably $600-800 but it was a while ago. I’m near Temple Texas. Good luck!
Hello, nice work, what size nails and nail gun did you use? Thanks
Thank you. It's a 16g nail gun. I think they were 2" long
Where would I go to find someone to do this? Like what would their job title be ?
A finish or trim carpenter would be what look for
Extremely helpful

Always new tools
Great job!
Thank you!
Is it offensive to ask the carpenters in one's area to do this? Not sure if Ikea is a curse word to them lol
I'm sure you could find a finish carpenter to do the work.
wooo 🥳
😁
4:29 that baby is watching you
It does kind of look like that :)
I can see why Jesus' profession was a carpenter. Miracle workers😍
Thanks for the kind words!!
We have your shutterstock pictures and would like to return them somehow.
oh god those cut outs for light switches look fucking horrible.
Good thing that wasn't my work
If I were to ask a local carpenter to do this, about how much should I expect to pay? I live in Kentucky
I'd think between $400 and 800, depending on how busy and established the carpenter is
