    Lekker!
    I have the HAVAL H6 Super Lux - absolutely love my car! Your review was actually the final decision for me - best decision ever!
    In regards to fuel consumption, i cant speak for the Chery Tiggo. But i can definitely vouch for the fact that these cars (GWN Haval, tentatively assuming Chery too...) take a few 1000kms to drive in - after which you will see the fuel efficiency change.
    On the H6 whatsapp group guys are getting anything from 8L/100km to 7L/100km for longer drives. One chap the other day recorded 6.9L/100km
    As always, top-class review you legend!

    I'm honestly amazed at the interior material and build quality of the new Cherys. Look at how the sides of the inside of the boot at 10:20 is covered in carpet. You don't get that in any other SUVs at much higher prices. The Sportage, Tuscon, Rav4 etc is all hard scratchy plastic that gets scratched and damaged by luggage. Really really amazing. Well damn done Chery. And I test drove a Tiggo 8 Pro and it has better interior material and build quality than a GLA and GLB and those costs hundreds of thousands more and doesn't even have all the features of the Chery.

  • @davidm.226
    @davidm.226 2 ปีที่แล้ว +70

    Apart from the fuel consumption this car is great, the interior is top notch. I would advice anyone with a fully paid Vivo,Fiesta or Corolla to consider this as their second car. The German's are offering such for nothing less than 700k, in today's economy most people cannot afford that.

    I've had mine for almost a week and I'm enjoying it so far. I've done 600km already. Its been thirsty so far with doing lots of highway driving 11.2, (Fourways to Benoni) I'm hoping once the engine has been run in a bit it will be more frugal. That's the only complaint, really it is. It great value for money and it's great to drive

      @@ryanalley2446 I've enjoyed the driving experience so far. I've had 4 people in the car with aircon on and it's pulled nicely. It is a heavy vehicle though for a 1.5T engine and you use more petrol around town if not careful with the accelerator and the air conditioning on. If you can live with that, it's a great car and good value for money compared to its competitors.

    I just buy an AWD version of Tiggo 8 Pro Max with 2.0T engine and it costs me 155k RMB. Acceleration performance is remarkable and I love it so much.
    Official 0-100km/h acceleration is 7.5s and 7.1s in real test drive. Fuel consumption in busy city road is around 9.5L gasoline per 100km and around 7.5L per 100km on highway with 120km/h.

  • @nadasendf

    I drove the car for just under 6 months and sold it back to Chery. I just seemed to have endless issues. Although the technicians were always willing to assist, which I really commend, as a daily drive I really wasn't enjoying it. 1st issue was the Aircon which during EVERY drive gave off a horrible 'old water smell'. 2nd issue was a rattle in the instrument cluster which was extremely annoying. 3rd issue was a ticking noise after its 5000km service which technicians could not replicate, but occurred frequently until the vehicle was sold back to Chery. 4th issue, and honestly the main one for me, the terrible fuel consumption. Best i got was 8.7l/100km on the downhill from jhb to dbn. Average consumption was 10.3l/100km. I also felt the engine was underpowered for the weight of the vehicle. There are definitely some great aspects to the car; endless safety features, great space and smooth ride on the long road. Again, koodos to Chery for attempting to resolve these issues, but unfortunately it could not be resolved in the 6 visits I made to them...

    I am very impressed with the new range. I do feel however that the vehicles could have benefited from a bigger engine and also a diesel derivative.
    I have a concern though that will always cause me to think twice before purchasing a Cherry product in that my wife bought a JW Swag a couple of years ago and without much announcement Cherry was withdrawn from the local market leaving Cherry owners high and dry without much after sales service and support, not to mention that you can hardly find spare parts for these vehicles. (You have to import anything you may need and be prepared to wait between 60 and 90 days).
    If Cherry wants to impress and reassure the general public that they are here to stay and not disappear of the map again in a couple of years, I would suggest that they look at establishing some support for the older generation of vehicles that are still on our roads.

      Out of all other carmakers, Mazda doesn't need to go back to the drawing board. They're the only manufacturer developing new inline 6 cylinder petrol and diesel engines. They're a true car company. Their cars are very high quality and very well designed. Their quality is far better than what comes from Mercedes even these days. I test drove a Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and it has better quality than the new Mercedes C Class. It's them that should go back to the drawing board.

      Mazda's are overrated imo. The tech is outdated and the designs are stale, and developing a new 6 cyl engine means literally nothing. Doesn't relate to quality. But they are, actually, good quality. Its just their new cars are disappointing to say the least and their fanboys seem to be the only ones so enthralled by them. Have you seen the range on their new EV? Seriously underwhelming... They give me the impression of being the kinda car company to skimp on features so people say "these are *real* cars focused on the driver!" Not a fan of that kinda thing. Just my opinion on the matter, please don't get worked up anyone.

    1. Whats your take on the resale value? Managed to sell my hyundais with no real depreciation. It's hard to tell with Chery being so new
    2. The CVT gearbox? I owned a Fiat 500 with a CVT gearbox that died on me. How reliable is this gearbox?
    3. The rearview mirror in the Tiggo 8 Pro gave me a headache... you think I can get a normal mirror cut and fitted on top of it?
    4. Does fuel consumption really improve after a couple of thousand kms on the clock?
    Lastly, I can see my kids really getting a kick out of talking to Chery, so I'm hoping she will keep them entertained on those long drives haha 😄

    The Chinese keep delivering. The working class needs this. If you want a German SUV you must have tenders somewhere or you're in a political party or you just have a shitload of money. I can tell you for free that the average South African does not have a shitload of money. Cherry and Haval nailed it. Right place at just the right time.

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. I test drove a Tiggo 8 and the interior material and build quality is better than a Mercedes GLA and GLB and those costs hundreds of thousands more. And you don't even get the tech from the Tiggo 8 because it's all optional extras on the Mercedes. I hope the other carmakers learn from this. People are not missing anything by not going for the overpriced German stuff.

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@danielbredenkamp3957 And that's a good thing. Because Mercedes isn't what it used to be. You pay all that money for a car no better than cars half its price. I have a 2015 E350 Bluetec. The newer E Class that came after it is of far lower quality. You can feel it. It looks fancy inside but that's just looks. There's no substance. I test drove the new C Class. It's awful. If you rest your leg against the side of the centre console it creaks. The entire lower half of the doors and dash is hard Kia Picanto like plastic. The inside of the cubby isn't even lined in fabric like every other C Class before it. My dad's 2005 C Class with 330,000 kms feels more solid than the new C Class and it doesn't have all that nasty plastic nor does it creak when you lean against parts inside. The Chery Tiggo 8 has better material and build quality so Mercedes is just a disgrace. The new Mercedes CEO made it clear they need to chase profitability. And you can see the evidence of cost cutting everywhere in their new cars. I for one, as a Mercedes owner now and once a loyal fan, will never buy another one because they all feel like a downgrade. And when a car from China called a Chery that's half the price and has better tech and quality, there's no point in Mercedes justifying their stupid prices anymore. In the past it was justified because they could back it up with quality and solidity. Well no more.
