What a great idea, possibly the best build for a circular saw track - adding the second holding track is so simple but effective… 👏🏻 Definitely worth a sub, thank you… ✅
Absolutely spot-on was thinking about buying a metal one. Makita track saw blade for my battery operated. Makita circular saw but like you say I only use it once in awhile so I’m gonna have a go at making this myself. Thank you very much for all the info is brilliant, good video
It's really easy to make, and not only does the track saw guide ensure you cut straight, it also prevents any tear out of the material you are cutting. Thanks for your comment 👍
I suggest placing two playing cards between your saw table and the guide lumber. That will give you enough room to allow your saw to move without binding.
A nice solution. I think that I might have used a slightly smaller hole saw or forstner bit (but it depends what you've got to hand) and also put holes at the 1/4 points so that you can get two holes on the the line on shorter cuts like taking a bit off the bottom of a door.
Hi great video… as always. I’ve been thinking of putting one of these together for a while now, very handy! Could I ask a quick question. I noticed the Makita chop saw in your video.. what size is it? I’m a keen competent DIYer and I’m looking to invest I a new saw for making gates ect.. I can’t seem to decided between the 12” or 10”. Keep the great content coming, I’ve learnt loads!! 👍🏾
The makita saw is a 12-inch that takes 2x 18v batteries, and it's an amazing bit of kit. I got it on offer from powertool World for about £600 with a free battery.
Another great video but I've now got a massive problem. She's only gone and seen some of your videos and I'm not fully booked up every weekend for the next 6 years haha
Any chance of doing a video on drainage? We got a problem with ours which is bringing in Ingress water. We know the fix which is to replace the old clay drain but would be good to get someone to explain how it works. Feel free to video it if your in the Wolverhampton area!
@@FixitwithFowler I’m thinking of making one that I can be extended to manage 8ft boards ie 2 x4ft guides rather than one long guide , maybe a removable stop end on the first guide etc so the second one can be added , just need to think about an accurate way to attach that allows a seamless cut ! Possible hinge Fixing! also a smaller version for 60 cm wood slat panel to make it more manageable 👍
@davidhumphrey8873 Yeah, that's a good idea. I know the track saw guides slot together, but I'm not sure how you could join them to make it really accurate! It will be intrested to see what you come up with!

I was annoyed of not making perfect cuts every time! Thanks for your comment 👍

@@FixitwithFowler You’re welcome
I love the holes to see the wood below while you're cutting
As someone has said, it might have been better with four holes instead of three, but it works for me!

I was considering using a 20mm holesaw, but I thought it was too small. However, I think it would have been fine. Thanks for your comment 👍
Another brilliant video, i need to build one of these track saw guides!
They are really good if you struggle to cut a straight line like me!
Excellent!! I will be making one tomorrow! Thank you for the tutorial. PS. LOVE THE DOG ❤
Lol, my dog gets more comments than me 😁😁. The tracksaw works brilliant and is so easy to make!

Hi, I did replace part of our clay drainage with plastic, but unfortunately, it was before I had my youtube channel.
@@FixitwithFowler Thanks for the reply. If you are based in the Wolverhampton area! Feel free to pop round. Happy to pay for someone to replace ours.
@rss112 Sorry, but I'm in Leicestershire!
@@FixitwithFowler Thats a shame. Most trades in our area are useless haha. Keep up the videos. Great to watch.
Thanks for your kind comment 👍
what is your miter saw and the table on it?
It's a Makita 36v mitre saw and stand. I got it from powertool world.
Hope your cold has gone 🤔
Not yet, think it was man flu 🤧 🤣🤣🤣
If you're a good chippy you don't need a track saw to get it straight. Been working years without one.
Yeah, it's really aimed at diyers, not tradesmen, especially carpenters. Thanks for your comment though 👍
@@FixitwithFowler indeed !no matter how good you are why risk expensive mistakes 👍
@davidhumphrey8873 yeah I just wanted to be able to make accurate cuts as I'm going to do some wall panelling!

Ironic, to make yourself a track saw you need to cut some nice big straight lines free hand with your circular saw😂
Great content of the video the only problem I had was you kept sniffing up with your snotty nose lol 😊
Yeah, I didn't realise until after the filming, bad case of Man Flu 🤣🤣. I'm glad you liked the video though!
i built one like this but it bowed and now its useless
Oh, that's a shame. What did you build it out of? This is 2 bits of 12 mm ply glued and screwed together, so it shouldn't move or warp.
Why not add two long straight edge long timber under close to both sides to strengthen the whole tool?
@frank88ster The idea is to keep the base as thin as possible so you can cut thicker material.
PLEASE edit out all the sniffles, so annooooying, otherwise perfect video. thanks/
Ha, I did try but I'm just recovering from being ill 🤒. I didn't realise how bad it was until I uploaded the video!
No worries mate!
