I am NOW! On my bicycle...(sigh...)...I've lost wireless earbuds on the road. After doing that once, I switched back to wired ones. If these hold on to my ears better, maybe I should try these. On cool thing I've tried in a shop are those Bose sunglasses with the speakers built into the frame. I LIKED THAT experience very much. The only fiddle will be to get my prescription lenses into the things... Mahalo for opening my ears and mind. Aloha.
My ENT Doctor recommended me to avoid in-ear earbuds because they push wax deeper into the ear canal and cause problems, plus it can reshape the ear canal as well, so that's not good. These ones seem like a solution because you don't have to introduce anything into your ear canal.
I got a question can you sing while wearing these. I guess it's a yes right? (Good vid. Love your review ❤) Just got my Px8 for a month and I've been using AirPods Max for 2 years. I really prefer how the transparent mode work on my Max, I can even sing while listening to music. It's really satisfying that one can sing while listening to music. I realized that how important the transparent mode once I got my Px8(because it's transparent doesn't work quite well comparing to Max). But few people mention the convenience and how essential transparent mode is, and how apple make APM so good and special comparing to all the other headphones. So have you tried singing while wearing APM or Bose ultra?
Heavily considering due to comfort reasons; until I saw this I was considering Shokz bone conduction. So far I'm leaning towards these as bone conduction has clear sound but I'm looking for better sound quality and this sounds like this may do the trick.
Too many people here noting the lack of noise cancelling. These earbuds are literally designed to be the opposite of noise cancelling. It’s not comparable. It’s like watching a review for a kettle and complaining it doesn’t keep your water cold to drink 😂
Me listening to this video using my Bose Ultra Open air earbuds, they are my every day earbuds now especially in my every day use at work and at home because I have to stay connected to the world around me with such a big family, so these have come in clutch for comfort period, I haven't had anything that fit like this where I can forget I have them on and they also get loud enough for me if I want to drown out some of the world around me, I literally don't leave home without them.
@@tkennerlyto me they are, they just got a major update in July, I still am rocking these as my daily earbuds because I can't handle the in ear designs anymore because of discomfort no matter what I try, these eliminate all of that for me.
Thanks friend. They are $449AUD so quite expensive, however as someone who wears specs, I feel this could be a good solution over hook style open ear buds. Multipoint is important to me, so I can use them with my PC and phone at the same time. Great, they updated it. Whilst I'd probably prefer the Huawei Freestyle, for price, here in Australia, like the US, it's difficult to purchase Huawei products.
I live and walk around a busy city. I prefer to have some feedback from my surroundings. these are also super comfortable! No need to fiddle with them just to keep them in my ear.
I just got mine today went to the gym and they worked fine i had zero ear fatigue and they never felt like they were going to fall off and was loud enough to drown out the sound around me if i wanted and they are definitely the most comfortable buds i ever had you'd forget them in your ears lol
I have them, and besides the occasional sound glitches and lack of volume they are great. I had to really adjust my expectations. The fit is great, sounds great without having bass.
Your one of the few reviewers that hit every major point to why these have a place and major points for talking through the placement and where the speaker points
4th group - people who don't like earbuds actually entering the ear canal. I find over the ear headphones are a bit too obtrusive for all day and everyday wear, so something like this is perfect for me. I had the older Bose open ear buds, and they were just OK. They did not pair well with my iPhone and were clunky to connect and disconnect. They also had touch volume controls, which was nice, but the call quality was TERRIBLE. Nobody could hear me on the other end and there was a constant buzzing sound. Hoping those issues are resolved in this version.
I bought the Bose open earbuds shortly after they came on the market. My old Bose QC-15 headphones continue to be a workhorse, but the over-the-ear form prevented me from hearing my wife talk to me and hearing a phone or doorbell doing its thing. The open ear form solves both problems. I can watch movies et al and play music and talk shows on my Samsung tablet or phone and still be aware of my surroundings. The audio is more than satisfying for my senior citizen ears. The critical comments in this thread are noted but of no consequence for me. The battery life probably is ~8 hours. I haven't had the buds on for more than ~6 hours and ~30% of the battery remains. Thumbs 👍. HTH.
Not Paid? I'm IN! Thanks. Last year got fooled by various positives reviews (subsequently found out they were sponsored) and bought something that was trash even though certain TH-camrs were talking them up. Keep it real Mark! Thanks.
Thanks Mark - love all your videos. Sorry I was a Patreon (for you and a few other youtubers) but with the current cost of living pressures I have had to cut back on a few things. Great review - I am not sure if I have strangely shaped ears but have struggled with Apple airpods; beats studio etc - can't get them to stay in my ears whatever size the cushion is. This looks like a good option for me - but they are a bit pricey.
Ordered these today after hesitating for a while. I have never found ear buds that stay in my ears, constantly having to adjust them and push them back into place, also get quite a bit of pain in my right ear canal from every tip and bud I have tried. Hoping these are as comfy as everyone says, as long as I can hear my music and it sounds good I will be happy, don't need the best sound available, just something that sounds decent and works for my ears.
I have a pair of touch open ear, I don’t like the touch because I accidentally hit it if I adjust them on my ear; or I will try to pause, but because I can’t see what I’m touching I don’t know if I am touching the right spot so then end up touching it again causing it to skip a track when I was trying to pause it. So I think the button is actually better in this case.
One of the main reasons to buy for me is the lack of noise cancelling. I get killer headaches from anything with noise cancelling and I still need to hear the world around me.
I like the idea of these - ive had horrible experiences with Samsung Buds and ear infections which others have had too so trying to find decent bud style earphones that dont need to go into my ears is great
It has come to our attention that some individuals have expressed concerns regarding the noise cancellation feature of our product. It is important to clarify that the product in question is designed as an open-ear type, which is distinct from traditional noise-canceling headphones or earbuds.
After watching this vid, and the one for the regular earbuds, I’d personally go with the latter. Main reason is the noise cancelling. These do look good/unusual though. Thanks for the content.
Shortly after I purchased the Ultra ear buds and the Ultra over ear headset Bose started sending me $50 off offers. Of course I had paid full price for both. I’ve decided to buy these open ear units as soon as I get that offer. May be a while because they are out of stock in a lot of places.
Great review! In my experience, open earbuds are an excellent option for those with TMJ or prone to ear infections. It prevents pressure from building up in the ear canal, which you may already be experiencing. I loved my airpods, but my ear canal could not take the pressure even with the in-ear and semi-ear models. They kept falling out, and I eventually found my way to a pair of SoundCore AeroFit Pros, which has been excellent. Would love to give the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds a shot to compare!
I for a long time used AirPods 2 then gen 3(gen 3 didn't stay in the ear and was not nearly as comfortable). Tried AirPods Pro gen 2 but I have always had inner ear issues so completely going in my ear did not feel very good at all. How would you compare it to say the AirPods gen 3 since neither have noise cancelling. Also unless I missed it, how is the microphone/call quality?
Microphone quality are terrible on these, I’m in the market for some open ear buds but everything just seems to lead back to the shokz. These could eventually be contenders but the mic quality and what seems to be lack of interface for the price tag is what’s is holding people back on these.
Both ear buds were charged to 100%. I took them out and listened to music for sometime. The battery on the left went down to 90% while right showed 70%. After some more listening, the right went down to 50% while left was at 70%. Any one experiencing this?
Sound for music is a touch better than the HUAWEI FreeClip however calls are pathetic on the Bose Ultra Open. HUAWEI’s FreeClip sound great and calls are perfect.

Bought a set, tried them for about 5 days and returned them, they were not worth the $300 price tag (plus shipping). Just for giggles I bought a set of open earbuds from Temu for under $10... Sad to say they sounded 90% close to the Bose. Kept them since they were a tenner. I'm still not thrilled with the sound of either, Boss or Moscz, I suppose they have a place but it's definitely not for playing music in my opinion.
I have cauliflower ear and I’m looking to get open ear earbuds, I have been wearing over the ear headphones for a long time and I miss earbuds so much😭
I had to send my Sony link buds back because my ears are small and they tend to hurt my ears, I bought these Bose Ultra Open air earbuds and haven't looked back, these are great and the comfort is unmatched in my opinion, I would say try them out👍🏾👍🏾
Yes, the Huawei Freeclip will spank the Bose Ultra Open in calls, multipoint and wireless charging, but the Bose has far better sound, and for some that’s all they care about.
I currently utilize the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Over-Ear Wireless Headphones. While the Bose Open Ear headphones appear aesthetically pleasing, they do not meet my requirements as Active Noise Cancellation (Quiet Mode) is an essential feature for me.
The look good and all but i like noise cancelling feature which these dont have and thats a let down for me hope they some how add this feature, then ill buy ,i really love the design.
Headphones like these are extremely important for me. I have TMJD and over ear/in ear headphones put pressure on my TMJ and it triggers a migraine. Headphones like this and Oladance let me listen to audio after years of having pain with in ears. Also it’s sensory friendly for me, my Oladance disappear on my ears, in ears and over ears bother me constantly.
Women: because i want to listen to music while also having the ability to be aware of my surroundings. The gen 1 or 2 airpods are the next good ones because you are able to hear around you. I dislike the passthrough sound options on most ear buds because it is too mechanical and i cannot hear subtle sounds i should be listening for
I have a pair and I will be returning tomorrow after a week of use. Worst earbuds I have ever used. Sound quality and isolation are good, but the actual Bluetooth and software that they use to connect are absolutely horrendous. From the start, after just taking them out of the box, it took 2 and a half hours to get them to connect to my iPhone 13, and even then it was buggy, where one ear would just fall out of sync with the other during content playback, and then jump back in, sometimes over and over until I got frustrated I just put them back in the case and gave up. But, then it got even worse - they just flat out refused to connect to my phone, and then when you did connect them, would immediately lose signal and power off. Over. And. Over. Would not recommend these to anybody until Bose pulls their fingers out and fixes even half of these issues. I am really disappointed as I loved the concept and the product itself, but in terms of useability, it is just unacceptable.
I have iPhone 13 and had them for a month and have no issues I actually use them daily and love how comfortable they are maybe not for everyone but I had 3 pair of Bose and I only had issues with one pair but I had warranty my noise canceling right bud didn’t work and bose replaced me a new pair. As an iPhone user I get the best of both worlds with the noise canceling ear buds and the over ear buds from Bose
@@chaporuiz10 Yeah, I have the over-ear Bose QC Ultra headphones as well, and have never had any real issues, I believe it had something to do with these specific models of earbuds.
I'm gonna guess that Bose have horrible quality control. Because so far I've had no issues with my QC Ultra and Ultra Opens, but my QC Ultra buds had terrible connection dropouts when using them anywhere that wasn't indoors and the EQ's for some reason would reset back to default and won't change no matter how much you adjust them in their app. Returned after 1 week.
Has anyone used them on a plane? Are they loud enough? I love my Shockz, but I have to put in earplugs to get them loud enough. My Samsung buds keep falling out of my damned ear. It was fun when they dropped under my plane seat yesterday (thus me looking at the Bose).
Interesting concept but I’m not their target audience. I’m all for shutting out noise pollution and noise toxicity in public places and on transport. A sales guy clipped them onto my ears and I just found them all a bit creepy. And the guy to be fair. lol! Anyway interesting nonetheless. Price is way up there.
Once again 300 USD and no multipoint. Poor water resistance. They are open style so no they won't have noise cancelling. But they will cost 300 bucks. It's a thing with bose if their name is on it that makes it cost 300 dollars
@@jaynosowsky9708 yeah but their form factor far outweighs the sound quality and you have to look at what they're designed for before you bitch about sound quality.
These look hideous. For people who have no idea what they are (majority of people) they’ll think it’s earrings or jewelry. But who knows, maybe they are fantastic when you actually use them.
If you like good caling quality then do not buy! As for the rest it is a good product with good servic but the volume of the partner your calling is bad! I recieved another product and did the update. Nobody is talking about it! It is not worth the 350 euro!
Lost me at £299.95 😂 Bose tax and a total gimmick. These achieve nothing and just have a list of drawbacks. Buy AirPods Pro or similar and just turn on transparency mode.
They're terrible... I bought a pair, the worked OK the first time I used them, then the right bud wouldn't charge. Then I wasted almost 2 hours chatting with Bose customer service with no satisfactory outcome. Avoid Bose products.
It is physically impossible to deliver the bass you are clearly expecting from a pair of open earbuds. Not 'amateur'. As noted in the video, if you want the best possible sound, you need regular in-ears.
@@MarkEllisReviews mate this is not about your video. This is about Bose. I’m saying i paid 300$ but dissappointed. I was using Bose SoundSport Free True Wireless Earbuds which was 1000times better and better than this ultra open earbuds.I definitely don't recommend this earbuds if you want good sound quality, but if the design is important to you, then you can buy it of course. Is this bone conduction?
No
Can someone comment if there is a lag while watching TH-cam videos on iPhone?
Are they made by Bose or Bost?
Bose*
Interesting concept but I’m not their target audience. I’m all for shutting out noise pollution and noise toxicity in public places and on transport. A sales guy clipped them onto my ears and I just found them all a bit creepy. And the guy to be fair. lol! Anyway interesting nonetheless. Price is way up there.
Once again 300 USD and no multipoint. Poor water resistance. They are open style so no they won't have noise cancelling. But they will cost 300 bucks. It's a thing with bose if their name is on it that makes it cost 300 dollars
Stopped buying Bose a while ago. Wong be buying them
Why are you watching this video!!!!😂😂😂
I like the idea, i dont like the aesthetic of them or the price tag! Just another gimmick with the idea being put in the bin in a year or two
Sony linkbuds. Can't beat them.
Sony has them beat in wearability price. Sound quality. Ease of use small case and you can sleep in them.
Never like the sound quality of the Sony linkbuds...its OK.
@@jaynosowsky9708 yeah but their form factor far outweighs the sound quality and you have to look at what they're designed for before you bitch about sound quality.
Sony linkbuds does not look like eartags
Yup, sheep’s ear tag. Bought a pair. Excellent for the right person though
No lo entiendo
its big deal ?
yeah, these won't be on my xmas list!
These look hideous. For people who have no idea what they are (majority of people) they’ll think it’s earrings or jewelry. But who knows, maybe they are fantastic when you actually use them.
It’s pronounced Bose…not Bose….😂. Great vid mate.

Boom!
If you like good caling quality then do not buy! As for the rest it is a good product with good servic but the volume of the partner your calling is bad! I recieved another product and did the update. Nobody is talking about it! It is not worth the 350 euro!
Even after the update ? I heard people saying microphone problem is solved ?

Lost me at £299.95 😂 Bose tax and a total gimmick. These achieve nothing and just have a list of drawbacks. Buy AirPods Pro or similar and just turn on transparency mode.
They're terrible... I bought a pair, the worked OK the first time I used them, then the right bud wouldn't charge. Then I wasted almost 2 hours chatting with Bose customer service with no satisfactory outcome. Avoid Bose products.
Don’t buy it,if you wanna listen true sound. There is even no bass,no mid. Very amateur. Bose made me sad. I beed to give it back. 😢😣
Cheers.
Are you limping?
No - it's my walk. I'm really cool.
They look like ear rings... No thanks
Great if you want to look like a dork.
They look ridiculous
