    Takes a confident athlete to know when to fold. Wise choice. I love the comeback session after a non starter session. Our confidence is so heavily on our last key set. So it needs to be sorted sooner than later to settle the mind :)
    Just one ask / tip / suggestion;
    Can you put a summary in your comments of the training week. Like;
    Monday - easy 15k run
    Tuesday - track day , 8x1k, 90 secs rest
    Wednesday - easy 20k run
    Thursday - hill reps (8x600m, jog down rest)
    Etc....
    Just to get the feel of it. Video is great for the detail, but really nice to get a snapshot of your week.
    Thanks.
    Really enjoy these marathon build weekly videos.
    As another video suggestion, it'd be interesting to know what training you do prior to this big 6 week main block.
    Best of luck in Berlin. I'll be cheering for you from Ireland.

    Really glad to hear you're fit and healthy Matt, this series has been a massive level up from the others (not saying they weren't good, but this has been truly awesome to watch and follow) the video quality has been immense. Excited to see how you get on with the other maras!

    Biggest takeaway here is don’t be so a red to pull the plug if needs be.
    Good luck, really enjoyed the series, learned loads again. Aw the best, sub 220 it is !

    Best of luck for Berlin! Hope the weather plays ball and it doesn’t heat up too much.

    I estimate that one can generally say that 70% of amateur athletes who follow a classic marathon plan are immediately overloaded. Furthermore, extremely interesting insights from you about how easy planed but hard to train in Kenya - it's all or nothing! Nutrition: Sugar simply works to reload or boost (beside the healthy diet)!

    My biggest change over the last 12 months is my change of job.
    Also, in this last 12 months, I've gone from 46 to 47 years old. In this time, I have run some of my fastest running ever.
    9 min pb to 2hr 34 in the mara.. 74 mins down to 70 for the half and looking at running sub 2hr 30 in 3 weeks at Melbourne. I don't really get into the data side of things. I run to feel for a lot of my training runs and I basically know what I'm capable of and I also have surprised myself many times with both pacing and bigger workout sessions. Not coached and I usually make up my training for that day at lunch time at work. I have a basic structure of what on what days, but usually just work it out and decide in my warm up if I haven't already decided.. Massively stoked for what you've done and how hard you're pushing. Best of luck buddy!!.

    hey, matt! i'm glad to see you're doing well and training really well, too. i have the feeling that this training block was superior in many aspects for you and that there are huge chances of you reaching sub 2:20.
    i'm rooting for you! have fun in berlin!

    Alot of people measure things they don´t understand, forgetting that their body tells them things they understand.

    Ah this video is what I was waiting for when you said I should train to effort rather than pace or heart rate. Ok notebook at the ready! All newbies unite lol
