    I agree with everything you said. But I want to add that I like the way a top loader when there is a whole row looks in a box compared to card savers.

    Top loader guy here. Grading companies want cards savers so they can cut the card out so it is easier for them and less chance they damage the card in the process

      Ehhh... I just think that the cards would be safer in a penny sleeve and top loader... 😆 thank you for your insight on the card companies wanting cards savers...

    This is a great video question. I personally prefer the card saver due a few drawbacks of the toploader.
    1.) Toploaders are more expensive. 2.) You have to get different sizes depending on the thickness of the card. If not correct fit, the card can fall out, or move side to side. 3.) Top Loaders are not good for smaller cards (like tobacco cards) nor can hold over large cards (like 1954 Topps baseball cards).

    I use both, frequently. For singles where I'm not doing a lot - a penny sleeve and toploader are fine. For like set commons organization, I will use card savers because it's quicker not having to penny sleeve up everything. I've heard people complain that card savers are flimsier or harder to get cards into, but really if you know what you are doing and are careful they are just as easy and provide the same amount of protection. A bunch of toploaders to travel is also going to be heavier.

    what is the perfect size for the 1989 Bowman baseball card Top loaders? they fit in the 3x4 but the tops of the cards are at the top.

    If it’s never getting graded, top loader. If it’s going in the future grading pile, regardless of how distant that future may be, card saver. Thanks for sharing!

      This makes sense I just acquired a complete ‘74 Topps baseball set and at some point they may get graded so no reason to double handle them

    I am a bit of both, the issue I have with top loaders is that quite a few of them in each pack arrive curved so unusable as they would bend the card. Card savers are also cheaper

    As a kid collector in the 90’s I’ve always thought card savers were garbage. Was baffled to learn they’re still so used today. Always feel like I’m causing damage jamming it in there.

      Ahh.. can you elaborate? I find them a pain to store and handle 😂

    • @stevewolfe6779
      @stevewolfe6779 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thecardpyle Sure. I want consistency in storage and fewer hobby supplies. I have a lot of graded cards. I can store graded cards and card saver 1's in the same boxes without issues. I can store more card savers in the same space vs top loaders. I can use the same PSA perfect fit sleeves on graded cards as well as on card saver 1's to attach the card saver 1 to a 4 pocket page so I can flip through them in an album. A had a top loader album years ago and it was super heavy and bulky (not to mention $50 with 30 proprietary pages). If I decide to submit a card for grading, I don't have to handle the item again - it's already ready to go in a card saver. YMMV.
