as an Iranian i do not like to see my country get westernized at all. we have been there before and it's a wrong thing to make a mistake twice and i'm beginning to feel like this New President has untold Plans for Iran . today we have a lot to fear for . we love to have peace with all the world and open doors to all but we have dealt with the West before and we do not have a history of honesty in diplomacy from the west and of course Russians in the past . here i would like to let all the other people from the west know that if we sense there are plots going on again , if we reject west again it does not mean we have any hostility towards the people . No dude, but most women in Iran wear the chador and rousari, nothing wrong with that. Im not even muslim but I have no problem with people wanting to be modest and morally upright. The chador itself along with the burka have Zoroastrian origins and arent even islamic in reality. I dont think these things should be forced or mandatory but it should definitely be encouraged.
The headscarf (commonly referred to as the "Rousari") is the most basic form of "Hijab" (If you would even call it that). My problem is with them using the term "Veil", Not once in my 8 years in Iran (I still go back and forth annually) i have never seen a single person wearing the so called "Veil".

On a western Med cruise on the NCL Jade in 2010,my 3 older sons hung out with 3 Iranians for the first couple days of the cruise....We did not know where they were from,We asked them!!They replied Iran,my sons /the wife/and I turned and all looked at them at the same time..Oh we have 7 sons ,5 in were born in the 90s and the twins in 2008.The young Iranian,smiled and said Iranians love America,the cloths/the movies/the freedom/the people....He said the Iranian government is the one that dont like America!!! :)

007VitaminD I'm not hating them, I love Iranians, but the modesty they live under now was forced on them after the 1979 revolution. Before then they could be immodest and fashionable. I'm not saying it was the best scenario, the government had problems but thanks to the Ayatollah the revolution because Islamic and now they are the Islamic Republic of Iran. Modesty is forced on them in accord with scripture, nothing else. And scripture is a lousy way to govern a country.
You definitely don’t need to be worried about a host, you just show up and everyone wants to be your host , feed you, pay for your ride,give you a shelter for free and other stuff. Personally 4 years since my last visit which is really sad and I missed every single thing about Iran except streets and cars and drivers:)) mate just go there and enjoy the food and culture.

The Islamic Republic of Iran continues to work toward nuclear weapons. If the government would dedicate its resources to the well-being of Iranians rather than nuclear weapons and proxy terrorist wars, their country and culture would be much better off.
On a western Med cruise on the NCL Jade in 2010,my 3 older sons hung out with 3 Iranians for the first couple days of the cruise....We did not know where they were from,We asked them!!They replied Iran,my sons /the wife/and I turned and all looked at them at the same time..Oh we have 7 sons ,5 in were born in the 90s and the twins in 2008.The young Iranian,smiled and said Iranians love America,the cloths/the movies/the freedom/the people....He said the Iranian government is the one that dont like America!!! :)
The term "lifting the veil" is offensive and plain ignorant. They have modesty, you dont. You can't get mad at them for that.

007VitaminD I'm not hating them, I love Iranians, but the modesty they live under now was forced on them after the 1979 revolution. Before then they could be immodest and fashionable. I'm not saying it was the best scenario, the government had problems but thanks to the Ayatollah the revolution because Islamic and now they are the Islamic Republic of Iran. Modesty is forced on them in accord with scripture, nothing else. And scripture is a lousy way to govern a country.

You definitely don’t need to be worried about a host, you just show up and everyone wants to be your host , feed you, pay for your ride,give you a shelter for free and other stuff. Personally 4 years since my last visit which is really sad and I missed every single thing about Iran except streets and cars and drivers:)) mate just go there and enjoy the food and culture.

Iran is not Middle East , it’s in Asia ,while Iraq turkey Emirates Tatar Kuwait Saudi Arabia Bahrain Oman Lebanon Syria Jordan = Middle East . I think westerns need to study geography maps again.
Iran is really nice, I wish the worlds major powers like France Germany Russia China etc. didn't revolve around whatever the US says and have more open relations with Iran .

For a "Foreign Woman" visiting Iran it must have been amusing to witness a society operating under the repressive theocratic regime of Islamic Republic. As if Alice were in wonderland! Repression of women's rights and total inequality of women is what is dominant in Iran. Little personal choice,lack of autonomy and personal freedom, strict observance of religious edicts issued by men who rule over women. This would be my description of how Iranians tolerate daily life!
