- Having been running for eleven seasons, Ninjago has a tendency to repeat plots or concepts from old seasons. In this video, we’re taking a look at ten things that have happened too many times during the show.

I like how even the ninjago creators are aware of the "Attacking Ninjago cliche" that they made the citizens not care about the city anymore and call it a "normal day in ninjago"
They made it apart of the forecast in the movie

I saw someone theorize that maybe Zane sacrifices himself a lot because he feels he’s not as valuable or something, because he’s a -robot- nindroid and can be rebuilt.
But now his tragedies are more of a meme within the community/fandom, now.

Another trend is giving Cole development before returning him to a static character. Season 3-4: fighting over Nya, but letting Jay be with her
Season 5-7: turns into a ghost, kinda forgotten in season 6 except for a few jokes before becoming human again, and relearning to control his body.
Season 8-9: gives up cake, only to go back to it
Season 10: his fall, but makes it back.
Like the only thing about being a ghost is that he still has the ghost scar. But I wish he could have retained his abilities and go back and forth, although that is overpowered.
Spy Jon Sachurin Cole doesn’t have the ghost scar anymore. There is a glowing area where it would be when he activated his RX earth punch thing.
I don’t think they put the lava glow on his head for fun. I think it’s their way of “keeping” his scar without actually having to animate it.

I think the reason Ninjago City gets attacked so often is because the city is pretty much the main setting of the show.
We aren't breaking the 4th wall

I don't understand. In the begininng the show is like yeah there are 5 serpentine tribes ok. And then they all be like oh here are the vermilion I don't remember the backstory behind them. And oh yeah now pyro vipers too, yep these are more serpentine that we never told you about because.......
I can see how the snake villains are getting a little too repetitive, but I still love them all, and always love it when a new "species" is introduced.

How come the Ninja forget their past abilities? Misako doesn't do spinjitzu, Zane never uses half of his robotic abilities (falcon vision, explosive shurikens, etc.) Also, the creators forgot about Airjitzu, Elemental Dragons, and True Potentials. I would include the Tornado of Creation because it took them more than 5 seasons to finally use it again.
I think someone said the writers thought Airjitsumade the ninja too op(?), but, yeah, that happens a lot.

That ultimately ruined the meaning of Day of the Departed special - which I found it's good and really important to our beloved Cole's development.

Lloyd Garmadon I do too bro before Season 8, cause I loved their old designs so much and the ninja were a lot powerful back then when they used Airjitzu, Spinjitzu a lot, Tornado of Creation, summoning their elemental dragons I mean they are seriously nerfed nowadays

tornado of creation was ditched in season 2, then briefly brought back for season 10. I think it’s because these were the instances they had their golden weapons, and that’s why they were able to do it?

The Wu and garmadon thing is very fair I think considering they are both hundreds of years old and used to be very well known and important.
But the world of Ninjago isn’t set in the past. There are plenty of current issues and other evils who aren’t associated with the brothers. The present needs to be explored more when it comes to villains.

-classic: well, the first ones
-dx: to ride a dragon
-zx:resistent against snakes
-kimono:special elemental suits
-rebooted: helps them to hide from the techno system
-tournament: used for the tournament
-jungle: made for the jungle in chen's island
-deepstone armor: gives more protection against ghosts (observation: deepstone armor, which was got after lloyd got possessed, but right in the beginning of ep 45 the ninja got the deepstone suits)
-skybound:suits made for the TV show
-dotd: to remember the first suits
-hands of time: maybe some sort of master suits
-sog: suits to search for wu
-hunted:resistance suit/ sog suits but in raggs and with some adaptations to the oni and dragon realm
-moto: to fit better the feeling of remembering the past when they got the old monastery back
-sofs: to search an adventure

Who thinks that Kai has so much potential, or Well... He had it until Lloyd was overused and overrated, i mean, Kai is or was the true Main character, he was the last ninja to be found by sensei wu, he was the last one to get his full potential, the one who always used to talk when something was important, the only one to get so worried of Lloyd, the only one who didnt discover the truth about his parents, the only one who could have become evil, the first in appear always in intros, who agree with me?
When it comes to Zane and him always having mechanical issues it's literally a great example of "They don't build them like they used to."
The main thing I hate is how the Ninja are nerfed really badly after Season 7. They can’t use Airjitzu, summon their elemental dragons, they killed the Ultra Dragon. Do I need to continue, they are weaker than they were in the previous seasons and I think I’m the only one who hates that

The Great Devourer also had a backstory with Garmadon, and the Overlord has a history with their father
-You are right the Overlord and the First Spinjitsu master fought a battle which never finished until the First Spinjitsu Master divided ninjago in two ( ninjago city and the dark island)
- The Great Devourer is the reason Garmadon became evil which left him with some carma, the reason why the serpentine and vermillion exist and the reason the serpentine decided to go underground ( in rebooted)
However there's the Omega who also had a history with the First Spinjitsu Master because the Omega wanted to use the First Spinjitsu Master to destroy everything leading to the FSM to flee the first realm

This basically summarizes my reasons for not liking most of mid- to modern-“Ninjago”. Thank you for voicing your thoughts on this. :) I pretty much agree with all of your choices - especially regarding characters returning after death.
I wish the cartoon would actually let them stay dead; it makes more of an impact and establishes the importance they played into a more spiritual orientation. Now the cartoon has done it so many times it’s become forced. The only post-death revivals I did tolerate without problems were Dr. Julien (before he died again, that is, plus he played a part in the Ninja reaching the Dark Island) and Nya (as it was in an eraser timeline (the only part of that last wish I did like) and it was part of the main dynamic for that season).
In season 13 they got shintaro armour to protect them from the skull sorcerer
He makes it sound like having serpentine in all season is a bad thing

I agree with all of these! Don't the writers understand the phrase if it ain't broke don't fix it? I get it, they want to try new things. But sometimes if something works you gotta keep doing it until no one likes it anymore. The writers are great people but it just seems they never learn this.
Plot Twist. The reason why Garmadon want to sacrifice himself is not only to stop the serpentine war is because Wu made him feel that he was unwelcomed or unsafe/loved. He got mad at him and told him that you're no Sensei, and you've never been one! The only one who tried to stop garmadon from leaving was Lloyd. Misako and Wu didn't even stop him. That is how messed up Ninjago is.
what do you mean wu and misako didn't try to stop him? Wu literally said I can't allow that and misako also didn't want him to go

It seems like every single season is about the villains wanting revenge. I wish they would do something different like legitimately give the villain a good reason for doing what he or she does and have the ninja figure out if the villain is justified in his or her actions

Lloyd gets traumatized every season
Zane gets Hacked, Destroyed or shut down every season

one thing that i'm a little surprised wasn't mentioned is how often they have to "go find a thing". 4 golden weapons, the 4 fangblades, (zane lol), the realm crystal, the tiger widow venom, the 4 time blades, the dragon armor, the golden armor, etc etc. i probably forgot a lot of them but seriously what's up with that?
I preffer when they explain why the are using new suit.

Aspherra did want to take control when Wu tells the ninja he’s the deceiver in the story
I think the idea of 4 or so powerful weapons being the thing that each side need is over used (eg: techno blades, time blades , Oni mask)
Another thing is someone falling off of a high place in slow motion and it seems like there gonna fall only to be caught at the last second by someone
The deepstone armour suits (season 5) apparently protect the ninjas from being possessed by the ghosts. Kai was once shot by the soul archer at the hanging temple, when they were trying to accuire the sword of sanctuary, but he didn't turn into a ghost because of the armour.
It is kind of a kid show that’s why characters don’t really die
ninjago city citizen while an inter dimensional invasion is happening: an average, beautiful day in Ninjago.

So no one is going to talk about how the Villain always needs like certain items to unleash this ancient evil? We see the fang blades, the techno blades, elemental powers, the 3 items to find the Tomb of the first spinjitz master. The 4 time blades, the 3 oni masks, the blades in prime empire, and lastly the amulets in sea bound

Technically, in season 6, clouse released nadakan, which classifies as a villain unleashing an ancient evil.

seasons 12-14 definitely mixed things up. of course some of the cliches continued, but they were generally quite unique
For them getting their powers stolen and given back, it actually starts in season 2, when they lose the golden weapons, their powers fade then they get it back at the temple of light through their elemental blades, then season 3, most of Lloyds golden power gets stolen which forces the ninjas elemental power to fade again, they regain it when Lloyd sacrifices the rest of his golden power for them, in season 4, Chen steals all of the elemental masters powers which later gets smashed and goes back to them, Morro then possesses Lloyd in season 5, weakening his power along with the ninjas and when he gets out of his body the ninjas power slowly returns, season 6 they didnt but Nadakhan trapped them anyways. In season 7 they didnt as well, the oni trilogy didnt have them lose it either. Season 11, Kais fire is stolen by Aspheera and regained in the never realm because of his determination and love for his friends. Season 12 had them in prime empire in which they had to unlock their powers with points (dont know if this counts) and finally season 13, the skull sorceror imprisons them in bench stone which nullifies elemental power
