The best album ever made. I've felt that way since 1973, and have listened to thousands of albums since. Springsteen and the E-Street band listened to it constantly while recording Born To Run, and you couldn't join the Stone Roses unless you agreed it was a masterpiece.
Fascinating, I remember being seduced IN PARTICULAR by the beauty of the bass and how exquisitely recorded it was….for vinyl in my student 1970’s it was uniquely clear …I really got into hiring via this record. Thanks
Excellent review. I’m a huge Van fan..have almost all his legitimate records. However I have never been in awe of this album like so many others. It’s always in the top 100 lists but it’s never been a go to album for me, unlike Healing Ground or Moondance etc. But after watching your review I will relisten to it with a bit more appreciation.
Pleased to hear. I’m not a Van completist by any stretch, in fact I only recently started to dig into his catalogue. I’ve not heard Healing Ground and will give it a listen.
