Soyeon did a great job with Allergy and Queencard. She was told she wasn't "pretty" enough to be an idol but she overcame it with her skills and confidence. 💜

I think to fully appreciate "Allergy," you need to know that Soyeon received a lot of online hate for her looks, especially at the start of her career. In an interview after this was she said that she used to have a mirror allergy.
Every member of (G)I-DLE is naturally beautiful and many plastic surgery doctors have commented on Miyeon's perfect nose stating that it would be impossible to create or replicate it by them.
The theme of queencard is that the confidence is what makes a queencard, when soyeon goes out the night before her surgery imagining she's hot like the other girls she becomes hot because she exudes confidence. I would not assume that miyeon has not had any plastic surgery since its a pretty normal thing in Korea, but i remember seeing a video her makeup artist did where she mentions specifially that Miyeon's nose is perfect, but also she reallly emphasizes that her nose is natural
Plastic surgery is so normalized in Korea that when they make this criticism it just shows how out of the box they are. I love this group so much.

"Queencard" is a dream that Soyeon has while under anesthesia for the surgery. She dreams of what it will be like to be a popular/beautiful girl. The final chorus of the song (dream) says that you can wear whatever, be thick or thin, just be confident and love yourself. Soyeon wakes up before the surgery and doesn't go through with it. When she woke up, she was a queen. Just not in the way we thought it would happen at the end of "Allergy". Great story telling!
These two songs telling girls should be full of confidence whatever you are and shouldn't have plastic surgery.
I really appreciate how you share your personal experience thats strong of you. I feel this song so much even if you are aware how fake instagram is it can still effect you. I still get effected and sometimes I get really sad. I adore their messages they really empower people

This is pretty much covered in other comments, but that won't stop me from talking about it! These MVs are broadly autobiographical for Soyeon. When she was just 17 she was on a reality competition show called Produce 101, and was vilified by much of the public for being 'ugly,' looking 'like a child' (remember how she was seated with children in Allergy), and even 'having a bad personality' (as she mentions to the plastic surgeons in Allergy). From Produce 101 she went on to another reality competition show called Unpretty Rapstars (seriously). No one could deny her ability to rap, and she was subsequently picked up as a solo by Cube. Soyeon's life really began to change when Cube put her in charge of kind of an ad hoc assembly of young women who would go on to become (G)i-dle. I think that change inspires the epiphany in Queencard by which Soyeon begins to celebrate and identify with other women instead of being jealous and competitive. About 'perfect nose' Miyeon (lol), she was on the verge of debuting as the 5th member of Blackpink when something (?) happened, she left YG, and was picked up by Cube. It's hardly surprising that her looks are pretty much the ideal for a kpop idol. Oh, and there are a bunch of references in these MVs to American 'teen' movies from the early 2000s (along with a couple of other music videos). You can easily find youtube videos that review all the references; it's good fun. Finally, I'll recommend you react to 'Lion.' Besides being a great song and MV, Lion also features kind of the peak of Soojin's performances with (G)i-dle (which you need to know more about to understand the Revenge MV that you have reacted to) and also has a rap by Soyeon where she steps forward to reject her critics and claim the title of 'lion queen.' Well deserved, of course. Cheers

I think you have miss the meaning of lyrics of the song especially to the last part cuz it's like it says that no matter what you look like you are a queencard... the pre-chorus also says be thankful everyday for being born...
Gidle one of my favourite group and they produced and wrote their own songs, so talented!
About plastic surgery, is normalized in Korea, but also is very criticized if some idol on public person make it, called as monster

7:30...her nose is 100% natural. None of G-Idle members had plastic surgery. If they did, they wouldn't have the gut to make these songs and would've received tremendous backlash from haters as well as fans
