Hello SpaceRex and fellow followers. Long time viewer first time posting. I have to say, I love love your videos. They have helped me understand and be patient with myself with my own DSM. I upgraded recently from the 720+ to the 923+. Thank you for posting and helping us stay informed.

That looked like a great alternative, I think synology is a great company but find their "entry level" products overpriced.

Given Synology's insulting treatment of it's Prosumer customers and equally insulting 3-4 year old hardware at up to date technology prices. Sure DSM is unbeaten but for the typical home user Terramaster is more than good enough and DSM is full of features that prosumers will never use. For Plex the modern Synology's are over priced and again, with 3 -4 year old technology just a no no
Not forgetting the proverbial elephant in the room, Integrated graphics. If you run Plex and require seamless running of any format you want then Terramaster wins hands down. I've moved from Synology to Terramaster for this reason. Synology keep launching "new" NAS boxes with either non graphics CPUs or those 3-4 year old CPUs yet still charge premium prices for their NAS boxes.
I had a few issues setting up Plex on my Terramster as a latest update caused an issued with loading files but I just reverted to an older version and all was well. I've been running the 423 for several months and just using it for Plex and its perfect

even you can install truenas, unraid, omv or even maybe xpenology (dsm on non synology hardware), if the case you didn't like TOS. i have been fan on of this brand so far :) btw new series of terramaster that f424 and f424 pro have attractive spec that will easily blow out ds923+ even on the cheaper model f424.

Indeed. I have a 423 and it’s excellent. No real regrets after dumping Synology for their high cost and low specs

Ordered F2-223 240910 at good low price for simple BU, music and movies. Local access at home without offsite access is my only simple way. Hoping F2-223 can serve simple jobs. Dual 2.5 Ethernet ports is the priority need as my PC has it.

Your videos are great! Can you do one to set up a 2nd NAS at another location (friend/family) so each has a dedicated bay that is remote backup for the other location? Thanks!

Thanks for this comparison! I'm currently shopping for a 4 bay NAS. TerraMaster is right on my budget, but thanks to all your other videos I've watched, I think I'll save some more and pull the trigger on the Synology DS923+! Keep up the great content! 🔥❤️👍🏼

So would say that the Synology is a better Nas or F4-423. Question does it have the same type of raid as Synology. I have DS 1815+ and it been running since it first came out had not skipped a beat. still running the 6.4xxx I just find that anything new will take a while to perfect. Good video
    Cheers

Without watching it I bet he sided with Synology and found an issue with the TerraMaster. Dude is super bias to Synology.

I think he's sponsored by Synology but don't know. He actually liked the terramaster except for their ransomware past. Dsm beats everyone's offerings so far.

Thank you for your videos! I recently switched from a Mac Mini to a Mac Studio. I am now having massive Speed drops from 600 MBs to about 100 MBs... :( (Synology NAS)

Hi, any experience on changing the OS on the Terramaster? I find that could be changed

Audio is a bit low, when watching on a laptop and the volume turned all the way up I had to replay a few parts over again.

Here's the biggest problem for me, the headquarters. I would not trust this device on my network at all.
    Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

a great deal of cheaper nas negative reviews such as terramaster, yottamaster and orico have claims of cables being loose and a bad connection to the hdd, sometimes turning their drives into raw data format, and what seems very common among even the better brands is that they don't always seem to be mac compatible. only trusted brands are probably synology, qnap and maybe asustor

Had one of their 2 bay units a few years ago.
Impressions: Software is absolute rubbish, just like you mentioned, it was very easy to use alternative software, all I had to buy was a VGA adapter that plugged into an internal port.
Hardware: Good value for money (or so it seemed) until it went dead, just over 3 years old.
I cannot find any reason to recommend this brand.
Come to think of it, buying a 3 year old Synology is a far, far better idea than any of this Chinese rubbish. You have been warned!

Synology's DSM OS is unbeaten. Synology's hardware is tried and tested, very reliable. TerraMaster had a chance to impress the enthusiast market but they played us and failed.

Way too many words/salad…. Use BULLET STATEMENTS, instead of a fireside chat just rambling on about specs or stories. Segment the video using graphics so users can scan for the content they’re looking for💁🏼

How about using tailscale on TerraMaster?
